WTG, JC Penney, for standing up to those that espouse hatred and intolerance! We all need to do our part to show those that live to hate that we are better than that! JC Penney has my support and I will encourage everyone I know to show their appreciation. God doesn't hate, sad, delusional, hurt, frightened people hate. I'm sorry for them but pleased that JC Penney has seen fit to do the right thing!

Good for you JC Penny. I'm so glad you have not backed down to all this hatred and backlash. For every person who says they'll no longer shop there, you've gained three more. Ellen has NEVER thrown her PERSONAL choice in anyone's face about who she choses to be with and I find it disgusting that some of these people are giving the rest of us religious people a bad name. I was stunned at the absolute hatred. While I may not be gay, I refuse to judge someone for their preference in gender. The bible tells us not judge, that's for God only. Ellen has only preached about love, acceptance, and compassion. What about all the spokespeople of other companies or some of the haters on here. They are not perfect either and have done things outside of God's word. How dare you judge, especially when she is such a kind person! Obviously you're not practicing what the bible is preaching if you can sit here name calling and casting stones. Please continue to stand your ground JC Penny as we will continue to help you do what's right. We need to stand up for this amazing woman who has shown the world what it means to be a survivor and when given the oppurtunity, the chance to give back and show kindness. Her sexual preference has NOTHING to do with the standup strong person she is. She addresses issues and gives hope (have you ever heard the great speech she gave at the college I believe was her alma mater?) If more people were like Ellen, the world would definitely be a better place.

I have not shopped at JC Penney in 20 years. But as Ellen pointed out I am going to need socks and T-shirts. "Fair and Square" are values I can get behind. Thank you for not giving in to hatred and religious fanaticism.

I have shopped for many things at JCP and just bought something there today. I did not even know about this "controversy" until I turned on Ellen - as I do each and every day. I love her show because of her passion for her fellow man, for animals, her kindness, generosity, joy for living - and my gosh, who is funnier in America? What company wouldn't want her as their spokesperson? First of all, as a Christian, we know as sinners, in the eyes of God, all sin is equal. And we are all sinners. But look at all the incredible things this woman does with her life! Go Ellen and Go JCP!

Up until now I have rated JC Penney superior, but at this point I am disgusted at what Ron Johnson has decided to do with the JC Penney image. What kind of image is this that you would choose a gay woman to be your spokes person for a "family friendly company"! I have always for many years shopped at and supported JC Penney but will no longer do so and will encourage all of my family and friends to no longer support JC Penney. I am choosing to cut up my credit card unless this is reversed and Ellen DeGeneres is dropped as its spokes person.

J C PENNEY'S was the very first credit card we ever had, and until today, still HAD. you are free to hire anyone you wish to be your spokes person.. My family is also free to shop where we want to shop. I feel very sorry for all of the wonderful, faithful employees who may very well lose their jobs while we shop else where. But you can sit in your big offce and feel good about your self. I would say that upward of 75% of our household needs for clothing, shoes, bedding, luggage, skin care and most of my jewelry came from Penney's.. I will be sending my credit cards to your office to cancel.

I will be shopping at your store in Bakersfield, California tomorrow because I believe wholeheartedly that this is a company of strong, moral convictions...one that wouldn't let a bunch of bullies change their mind about what is right and good. I applaud you and will be a loyal customer to replace any you may have lost for your gallant decision to stand by Ellen against the hate mongers. I am a proud Christian and mother of three, I believe that only God can judge us and when he does he judges what is in our hearts. My heart is pure and full of love for all of God's creations. Ellen's values are down-home traditional values that no one can dispute. JCP has done the right thing by standing by their decision of partnering with Ellen Degeneres. We are all human and therefore imperfect, so it is not our right to cast stones as to how Ellen lives her life. She is lawfully married to her spouse, and it is not our right to judge her. Your " fair and square" advertisement is right on the money when you stood by yours and Ellens traditional values. I am saddened over all of this. We have our children killing themselves in this country because of the actions of the adults in this country. Why is the GLBT so vocal, and as the right wing say, shoving their lifestyle in our face? BECAUSE OF YOU!!! Because you are shoving your lifestyle into their homes. Honestly, you are no different then the Palestines ttacking the Isralites, or the extremist taliban attacking the western world. Why is there no peace in the middle east, because the extremist can not learn to tolerate and accept. It is the same thing here in America, and You are killing people, everytime a precious child takes their life, that is on your shoulders. Before you start trying to clean someone elses house, make sure yours is clean, everyones closet has a door on it, and there are always some sort of skeletons hidden behind it. Guess they are left shopping at Target and Chick-fil-a (the two bigggest anti-gay companies) Read the story about the 15 kids that committed suicide in Bachmans juristication,and that school district is on watch for the high rate of suicides because of her types and the adults bulliying these kids. I congratulate JCP on hiring Ellen. This is something long overdue in American business - I, for one, will be doing more shopping at JCP as a result. I also wonder how many of the anti-Ellen crowd actually shop at JCP, and I also see a common thread from their comments - perhaps an orghanized response rather than truly individual views?

Please bring back CABIN CREEK JEANS. I've been shopping at Penney's for years for CABIN CREEK JEANS among many other things. The sales lady told me today they have been discontinued and that ALOT of people have been in to find they can no longer get CABIN CREEK JEANS from Penney's. Why would a company discontinue a product that people love? It makes no sense. It's no wonder that J.C. Penney's is loosing so much business when customers wishes are ignored. I'll not spend another penny at Penney's until CABIN CREEK JEANS are back on the shelves.

Everyone should try calling the corporate office in Plano,TX to discuss the issue. NO ONE WILL TAKE YOUR CALL! I called numerous times and kept being routed to a message that says "we are not longer taking calls at this number. The corporate offices phone number is 972.431.1000. While I understand that Penney's can select any spokesperson they want, I can select to shop where I want ..... and after 40 years of being a loyal customer I have been in the store my last time. The new CEO or COO who made this decision and states that "she represents the values of Penneys and the country" should be fired IMMEDIATELY! Not sure of what country he grew up in but it wasn't the USA. I also wonder if it occurred to them to hire someone a person who dressed in clothing of their own gender? That is just really weird. She wears mens suits or pant suits for goodness sakes. Do they still even sell pant suits? I have cancelled my credit card along with the $7000 in furniture that was to be delivered to my son for his wedding present.

This is a "no win" decision for the new CEO of Penneys. What could have been thinking? What an huge mistake. He should go back to Target, but I'll bet he would have a very difficult time of getting hired anywhere. I've read a lot of the statements above and I find it interesting that many of us who have had Penneys credit cards for years and who actually have shopped loyally at Penneys for years will no longer do so. Why then does it seem "odd" that people who obviously don't dress or purchase the quality or lack of quality clothing, linens, shoes, etc that is sold by Penneys would want to make us think they now will like it because of a spokesperson? You must be kidding. If you don't like it you won't really shop there regardless of how much you want to pretend that you will. Too bad about the stockholders for Penneys. They must be stunned. And, I bet the Kohls organization is elated.

The fact is, Ellen does not represent the type of family that shops at Penney's. Outside of the fact that she is openly homosexual, she is a poor choice for a spokesperson as she does not embody the type of person that shops at Penney's. I have shopped there for a long time but will not any longer until she is removed. We are all free to express our opinion, as we live in America. Accusing those against having Ellen as a spokesperson of being bullies etc. is ignorant and misguided. Again, we are all free to express our likes and dislikes, that is why our troops are the most awesome in the world, they keep these freedoms for us. So stop the name-calling, are we adults or first graders? I am expressing my right to disagree with Ellen and her way of life. I don't agree with it as it expressly goes against Biblical teachings. For those of you who disagree, that is your right. Stop the hatred of Christians and stop calling us names because we voice our American right to speak up. Shop there if you like, not all of us agree with it and we deserve to voice that as you deserve to voice your opinion. Nuff said.

Im a 42 year old gay woman.And I could care less who the spokes person for Jc Penney's is.So just because Ellens a lezbian doesn't mean ALL gay people give a dam.If you straight people don't like it then build a bridge and get over it.Go shop at Sears or some where else.Remember the country you live in is the land of the free.Stop judging people.Keep your side of the street clean and worry about your own morals.

BIG mistake to use Ellen Degenerate for your spokesperson and promote the gay lifestyle. You are under the impression that everyone is willing to tolerate these wierdos. You are soooooooooo wrong. I'll use Kohls or some other department store from now on.

the choice of ellen was a backroom decision to get free publicity. everything has gone as they planned. well, except when the ceo didn't wear his own company's clothes on tv. By the way, where did he buy those clothes. they were nice.

I am a long time JC Penney shopper and love their store. It is unfortunate that I no longer will be purchasing from there. As a Christian that stands up for my Christian values, I strongly disagree with the homosexual lifestyle and refuse to support any person, organization or corporation that chooses to support it. As a Christian, I love Ellen as a person but refuse to support her lifestyle. As a long time JCP shopper, over the years I have seen the type of people that shop there. The majority of JCP shoppers are traditional, family oriented folks who historically do not support the homosexual lifestyle. I do not understand how hiring an open homosexual who DOES NOT "share America's values" will boost sales. This sales scheme is going to doom JCP. Thank you JCP for the many years of quality, fashionable clothing but unfortunately it's time to take my business elsewhere. Good-bye.

Thank you Ron Johnson! You sure think about the customer wanting to give them low prices all the time but at what cost? You screw your employees by cutting their hours to 4hrs or zero hours a week. We have mortgages and bills to pay you know! Employees use to spend a lot of their paycheck at penneys but with little or no hours even with an employee discount they can't afford to anymore. Thanks for adding to the poor economy. I used to like working at penneys but you ruined that.
