I worked at JCP for over 10 years and was let go about three weeks ago. I loved the people I worked with but the job was no longer fun once Mr. Johnson took over plus the store manager at the Lycoming Mall is clueless as to how to run a store and treated everyone like we were all morons. Favoritism towards certain managers was very evident. I was paid through May 18th and when I checked my paystub online last week, I see that I was give a 50 cent an hour raise. Guess what, associates that were not terminated received only 10-15 cents. What an insult. Give higher raises to the people they let go and why? They saved money of course. Seems to me this is an out and out unfair labor practice. I feel sorry for those who are no longer getting commission; it is Penney's loss because all of these associates will move on to other jobs. Mr. Johnson opened the Apple stores which were very successful. Of course they were successful, they were selling a product that is in demand and one of the top in the world. Well, selling made in China, Thailand, Mexico, etc. merchandise is no comparison and he is clueless as to how to effectively run a retail store. I never thought I would see the day when good Penney associates would be turned on and treated so poorly. I always thought it to be a family oriented business. I along with most of my friends and family will not shop at any Penney's store in the future.
I will promote a heavy anti-JCP campagin in Latin America theorugh various media. 95% of latin american people here and elsewhere are conservative and value family ehtics. JCP will be hurt by this....
JCP SUCKS!
Jcpenney was a grand store. As an employee before Ron Johnson came into play, we had alot of happy customers shopping and getting what they want. At that time I believed business was moving good. When Ron Johnson took over jcpenney, I was ok with it, then the unbelievable plan of the century, fair and square pricing, which took all our customers away from shopping here. Ever since Feb less and less customers come to shop. Just the other day I had a customer cutting her jcp card right in front of me. She feels that the pricing plan is so unfair to people and that we need a new CEO. Another thing letting go 13% of the workforce without jobs and cutting off commissions completely, to replace that all the were commissioned associates are now hourly associates. This is upsetting and disappointing at the same time. We need a new CEO for the employees as well as the associates. Ron Johnson need to be taken out.
Sorry to say I can't shop at J.C. Penney's anymore. Johnson and his cronies want us to believe that the fall of Penney's was coming before they got there and they were going to turn it around with marketing and of all things, Ellen Degeneres! My family and friends have spent thousands of dollars at Penney's in the past, but not anymore....not because of the coupon aspect of marketing, but because of Degeneres. She may be the most immoral human on the planet. Mr. Johnson, that lump in your throat, that's your pride. It's hard to swallow, I know, but if you want to turn the company around, you have to sever ties with Degeneres. The so-called "progressive" or "tolerable" people you are trying to reach with Degeneres, they are the ones standing in the cheese line looking for handouts beacause they won't work and they certainly aren't going to spend my tax money they get in the form of a monthly check at Penney's. Get rid of Degeneres, return to the black and you can thank us later.
I used to LOVE shopping at JCP and was there at least 3 times a week and spent lots of money. I have only been back twice after Christmas and spent ZERO. The quality of the merchandise went down and the prices are NOT your best price. That new CEO who changed everything should be fired. He thought he was going to make lots more money...that's called GREED...and greedy people wind up with nothing. I see you are already DOWN 18% for the 1st 1/4. I loved the OLD JCP!!! I will not shop at JCP anymore.
The sad fact is Mr. Johnson has no idea what he is doing when it comes to the salons. Somehow he believes and the salon leaders think the customers are jcp's. You are in for a rude awakining, customers follow their stylists and the salons were the only thing keeping people comming into jcp. I truly hope you see the error that you made before you loose the stylists that make jcp 25-30k a year profit. I don't blame anyone for leaving, some have no choice work somewhere else or loose their home. What would you do?
Hi Please bring back the old penney's It is nothing now but a warehouse. I could shop walmart if wanted a store like the one you have. There is no rhyme or reason to where anything is.I chose a blouse saw the sale price sopposedly it was a sale price I would not pay that price for the blouse even if it was the regular price. Gentlemen who ever had the idea to change the look should be fired I could of done a better job had to be a man...I could care less about who is straight or gay. The store is going down the tubes because of the changes...say good bye penney...
I just wanted jcpenny to know that they lost my business. I have spent thousands of dollars there, absolutely no more, ever!
Along with many of the comments here, I was very disappointed and stunned when I opened the May JCPenney catalog to see that you had taken a time such as Mother's Day to promote a lesbian lifestyle. JCPenney should stick with selling products, not promoting an agenda. I will not spend another penny with your company.
The question isn't about equal/special rights. The flier was spotlighting moms with their kids. There wasn't one heterosexual couple in an embrace yet JCP was determined to come out of the closet? Why would you need (or want) to know anything about a sexual preference in a clothing flier? It was completely unnecessary.
Ya know how closed minded are all of you people? Everyone has a right to be happy gay or straight and you all want to bash a company that is trying to treat everyone as equals. IF YOUR LIFES ARE THAT HORRIBLE THAT YOU HAVE TO LOOK FOR EVERY OFFENSIVE THING IN A CATALOG....YOU ALL SHOULD GET A HOBBY! THABK YOU!
I was the Fine Jewelry manager for 4 years, but on 4/30/12 I went in to work to discover that my position had been "eliminated". I was told that my last 2 weeks would be paid out and that I would recieve a severance package as long as I signed a waiver against legal action. My boss came to me with tears in his eyes as I was packing up my belongings and said, "I'm so, so sorry". I said, "Hey... I understand. It's business and its tough. I'll be okay." Well, last night I went back into my store to make an even exchange on a couple of tops I had recently purchased. I was treated like a CRIMINAL by people who were my "family" 2 weeeks ago. I was told through several sources that the staff had been told not to talk to me under threat of termination. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!? I gave this company everything I had for 4 years and put up with an unbelievable amount of harrassment... and this is how I'm treated for continuing as a loyal customer? So, if anyone at corporate actually sees this... there are no words powerful or pained enough for me to share with you the heartbreak that those of us who carried your company share. You will very soon realize that people are more important to business than change for the sake of change.
Thank you Ron Johnson for recognizing me and my partner as Americans. You are this American's favorite store!
I was very disappointed when I was in the Boynton Beach Mall, J.C.Penney store. I have been buying Cabin Creek Slip On Shoes in every color for the past year. I was told yesterday that they have discontinued the line, and I am at a loss as to why this was done. These shoes take the place of cumbersome sneakers that are too heavy and yet this lighter version affords the same comfort without this heavy feeling. i would like to know if I can purchase them directly through mail orders, as I would like to replace some that I have, as well as get them in other colors, if available.
I used to be an enthusiastic shopper at JC Penney for decades! I bought literally thousands of dollars in furniture and clothing! The sales people in the furniture dept. practically knew me on a first name basis. "Retail's new radical" doesn't work for me (and apparently not for others). As consumers we don't have time to be educated in your "pricing strategy". The clothing and sales are not what they used to be. The ad for the Mother's Day weekend was a pandering to an extremely small group of your customers featuring the lesbian couple and "their children". JCP has decided to promote cultural views instead of focusing on your traditionally loyal customer base. No fabulous sales customer service or visually appealing stores. I sincerely tried to continue to enjoy shopping at JC Penney but I now purchase everything at two other major dept. stores instead. Perhaps Ron Johnson should go back to the drawing board to drive sales in the mean time, my mother, my daughter and I have cancelled our JCP cards.
I worked for JC Penny's for over 10 year and in the last year of my employment was the worst that I have ever worked my life I work in the salon in the JC Penny's store 067 Leigh valley the salon manger was very unprofessional I was discriminate against the worst to be a manger in a place like that you have to be a people person this lady was horrible if JC Penny's is firing good people to save the company money you need to do the company a favor and get rid of Laurie Rompilla save the company money because JC Penny's can save that money that you are paying her, what a big mistake you made by hiring take it from someone that knows ever since you hired her the salon went from a upscale salon down to a low class holiday hair
I was appalled to learn that you now have gay models in the JCPenney catalogue!! I have been a faithful shopper of JCPenney for the past 38 years but I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. And you can bet that I will be making friends, family and co-workers aware of the NEW JCPENNEY IMAGE. I will recommend to everyone I know or come into contact with to stop shoppring at JCPenney and supporting this new image. From a very, very disappointed mom and grandmother
Back when you put out that first, totally annoying, loud, irritating commercial with a lot of women screaming their lungs out, I wrote to tell you how much I hated it and how all of my friends felt the same. Well, now I have more to say to you. Your commercials are stupid. Are there supposed to be subliminal messages coming from them? If so, I am not getting them. The magazine, or whatever you want to label that piece of recycle material for which you are paying tons of money to have printed and circulated, is worthless. What is it supposed to be for? And where is my catalog?? I've been a JCP shopper for over 45 years now and JCP was always my "go to" store. Your pricing was my "middle of the road" index whenever I was figuring out my expenses for a project. I did most of my shopping via the catalog and my Christmas shopping was usually completed by September via the catalog. I don't like being told that I have to shop at a certain store on a certain day if I want to get the lower or sale price. I don't happen to arrange my life that way. When I am able to get out to shop, I go. If stuff is on sale that day, great! If not, I either don't care or I'll come back another time when it is on sale. Stop horsing around with a golden standard. If your sales are down, it's because a lot of people out there are out of work (and how nice of you to have added to those numbers) and can't afford to buy anything at all right now. No need to spend so much money to change your look, your ads, your ideals. Just wait it out like everyone else is. Have hugely discounted sales to get your inventory moving out and move new stuff in. I want my old JCP back. Until then, I won't be shopping there anymore.
They want so much out loyalty out of us employees yet we receive no loyalty back. I've seen so much wrongfulness happen to amazing and hard working people there including myself it just makes me sick.
