I saw the ad regarding same sex marriage, and I for one will be paying off my credit card and NEVER shopping there AGAIN!
Today's news about your ad was all the motivation i needed. I moved my registry for our commitment celebration to you from Macy's. You had everything they did for 20-30% less. Thank you thank you thank you!!! I've been struggling to find something that my family can afford and doesn't actively fight to restrict the rights of my community. I didn't even want a registry... :-P Now i get to feel really good about sending my friends and family to you. Additionally, this gives me an opportunity to have a conversation with them about how important this is for me. We are your neighbors, friends, and family. I know it's hard to be strong and stand for what is right in the face of people with closed minds, and their money. I just can thank you enough for being willing to step up and stand up for me and my family. I'm so grateful. **customer for life** Rebekah
When the cigarette companies glamorized unhealthy behavior in their advertising, they were sued and eventually forced to stop. JC Penney, you are on the road to lawsuits, since you are trying to get yog people to give the homosexual lifestyle a try with your utterly bizarre advertising. Beyond shameful!
Im sorry i cannot or will not in good moral thinking spend another dime at Pennys. What a shame because i loved their store and their merchandise. How sad that we have to post pictures of gay people to lure them in to shop. What to you have special merchandise just for gays? It makes no sense to cater to one group when your store has everything anyone can use and buy. Why do you feel as thou you had to cave to this? And yes that is what you did you caved. You sold out your SOUL. It will not be worth it. I pray you re-think this new idea and restore your-self but i dont see that any time soon. If other stores start this crap i will not shop there either.
I worked at JC Penney when I was in high school. It was the place to shop, good prices and very family oriented. The description of family has changed so much over the years and it is scary to think that our civilization as we know it is headed to be non exsistant. Why? Because two men or two women together can't reproduce. Throw in all the men and women that are having sex changes and there you go. I have been taught, as a christian, to love the sinner and not the sin, no matter what the sin. God did not intend for women to be with other women or men with men, all you have to do is look at your anatomy to figure that out. He talks specifically about this in the Bible. The images that JCP is portraying in these ads are influencing our children that homosexuality is okay and it totally IS NOT OKAY. I will continue to pray for all the people who have chosen this life style, yes I said CHOSEN because God did not create you to live like this. It makes me sad that I will not be shopping at JCP anymore
Bravo. Doing the right thing isn't always the easiest thing especially when, for a minority, it's unpopular. Thank you JCPenny for your wonderful, inclusive LGBT-friendly advertising. You understand that your customers reflect ALL people and this is truly appreciated. As our stories are told, more and more Americans (and everyone else) understand that we are their family, their neighbors and their sons and daughters. Those who demonize us simply don't know us and your positive light on our community is wonderful. A deep, grateful THANK YOU from this proud lifetime customer.
what has happened to JCPenny? I do not like the new way of avertising. It seems it is only for very young people. I'm not old but at 61 the clothes they advertise I wouldn't buy, not only the advertisement but it's also the time they open. I go to a store that opens at 8:30am and if that store doesn't have anything I like, I then hit the stores that open at 9:30am so by the time Pennys opens I have bought clothes and housing items elswhere. Yes I spend a lot of money at these stores over a years time. Too bad that Penneys cares for only the young people and not all the people.
I wanted to add my complaint to this never ending list of complaints. JCP is now run by what is the national norm of brain dead idiots. Only three things matter in this country: money, sex and power. Everything is being run around those three things and it's sick. Went to our local store last week to pick up a catalogue order only to find the catalogue dept. is no longer open and you must pick your order up at a customer service station. I told the associate "their square deal" techinque was never going to work and the company was going to fold. Poor clerk said "mame, I agree with you" so you know even the employees have had all they can take. I have always loved Penney's and have spent thousands of dollars there thoughout my lifetime. I will mourn their death but I won't be at all suprised by it.
If there was a rating less than poor, that's the one I would pick! I am so disappointed and appalled! I have been a customer since I was a little girl looking through the catalog picking out what I wanted for Christmas! And now I am flipping through the Mothers Day issue and I see a lesbian couple!!!! What has happened to this so called family catalog company!!! And if that's not enough, I just received in the mail today another issue and there is a two page layout of a gay male couple with their children!!! I will no longer be shopping at JC Penney!!!! And I will tell everyong I know to stop shopping there as well!!! It is sad when I can't let my child look at a sale paper without worrying about what she sees!!! BADLY DONE JCPENNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me, my family, extended family and friends and anyone stranger I meet will know about this and you can count on losing many customers!!!
And I thought I was the only one that had concerns over the new catalog idea that Penneys came out with!!! An additional concern I have is the number of black people pictured in the catalog. I work with black people and have black friends but Penneys is not representing their company correctly as only 12% of the population is black. Ofcourse feature them along with other minorities. I saw what happened to the clothing line of South Pole....it was promoted for black teens and everyone knew it and so other teens would not even look at the line. So your recent June catalog is about 30% black. Coupled with the other issues you have going....you should be worried about public preception. Will Penneys turn into a store for blacks and alternate life styles or be a store for all of us? Who are you playing to? New CEO...get your act together. I have always had Penneys at the top of my shopping list for price and value and customer service. The store in Benton Harbor MI is not the biggest but some great employees....including a wonderful black woman who really knew her stuff. The Mishawaka IN store is good too....hope it continues. Stop these poor decisions before it is too late and the great reputation is ruined!!
I work for the JC peeney company and just recently two of our best supervisors was let go so that they could promote one that is playing around with the store manager. Ask me how I know? I have seen it. How do you do this kind of thing. Then you lay off over half the people that work for you people are coming into the store and stealing merchandise like crazy and nothing is done about it they are walking away free. Then the employees are busting their butts working hard for pennies on the dollar. I dont believe you Ron Johnson, you should be ashamed of yourself. I am not happy with the new change nor am I happy with you. You have ruined what used to be a good store. Our customers are declining and sales are down. No coupons, no customers, and the merchandise has gotten cheap too. You go from name brand merchandise to stuff that people can purchase at Walmart. I hope that God takes your compnay down eventhough I need my job. I rather see the doors close than to see customers, and sales associates treated like animals. You are such a greedy person and GOD is not please with people that are greedy. Money is the root of all EVIL but I think you already know that. For those of you that are backing this man he is a back stabber you can tell that from the way the stores is being run. I am sorry I dont like this new change it is happening to fast and it not for the good of the people it is only for Ron Johnson.
you people are acting like monsters. Im ashamed to even reply to any of these unscrupulous comments. This country holds that all men are created equal. Its one thing to not approve of someones behaivor but another to call homosexuals a different species. Before you get on the internet and spread your hate mongering maybe you should sit back and think if the christian thing to do is be so inconsiderate and apathetic.
I cannot believe what has happened to JCPenney. They have this new Everyday Value pricing and no sales per say. If I recall correctly, they tried this a few years back and it did not work then so, why would it now? When I go shopping in a store, I am looking for sales, sales sales and more sales. There is no sense of urgency to buy something at an Everyday value because you can get it at the price any time you want. So, the first thing that comes to a shopper's mind is to keep looking until they find a sale which in essence will now be at another store. Also, when a shopper is interested in a certain item, the normal thing to do is open the news paper and look for sales. Since JCPenney no longer runs sale ads ... why waste your time or gas for a trip to Penney's when it's advertised some place else? The last few times I was at my local Penney's store it was void of customers. It is quite apparent that whatever they are doing is NOT working. I used to feel like a valued customer with coupons, and ads sent to my home but, not anymore.
For most of my life (50 years) my clothing has come from JC Penney. Unfortunately, due to their desire to promote the homosexual lifestyle, I will have to find new places to shop, and new brands to wear.
I would have given a 0 but it wasn't listed.jcp was a great store to shop at in the past but now it is a mess.I always got great deals and enjoyed shopping the catalog.I found thing in there you coundn't find any where else. The older more experenced employees new how to give customer service, but they managed to get rid of them. Not a good move. The younger employees are rude and lazy.Customer service doesn't exist any more. I think the new ceo should step down. Bring back the old jcpenneys. The new one sucks!
Showing one gay couple in your ad doesn't at all offend me. You are only showing that you support diversity here in America, and the flyer obviously is targeted to mothers and Mother's Day in general, that's why you see mother's, daughters, and grandmothers posing together, I get that. What I do not understand is what happened to the store I used to shop at growing up as a kid. My store has lost a lot of business due to this great change that was supposed to come. Mr. Ron Johnson thought it was wise to stop offering coupons, the 15% off survey, took away commission, took out two registers, which would have been very helpful come this Hoilday Season, customers do not see that they are saving any money shopping here, and a lot of decent and hard-working individuals including myself have lost their job. This is proof as to why you simply do not give a position to someone who has no experience. Ron Johnson worked for Apple along with Steve Jobs prior to being our CEO. His whole life was being surrounded by technology, that is where his expertise lies. He would be a better fit for Office Depot or Best Buy. I mean, you wouldn't give a waiter a Chef's job, unless they had the proper education, training, or experience, right? Of course not, unless you wanted your restaurant to be forced into the ground. So, might I ask: Just what were you thinking here? His ideas and sales tactics are ridiculous and unrealistic in today's economy. We are in a financial crisis right now because of someone else's oopsey daisy's, and people are not going to blow their hard-earned money where it can not be afforded. I only shop the Best Buy racks when I do shop, because it's all I can afford. I truly do fear the worst is yet to come, and we will be living de`-ja` vu. Remember what became of Mervyn's and Gottschalks? Think people. Think.
As you no longer sell the Cabin Creek oxford blouses, perhaps you would be decent enough to provide the distributer's contact information so that we can still obtain them. Bad move to get rid of one of the highest rated items in your inventory.
I absolutely love the new catalogs! I just saw the June catalog and its so nice to see different colored faces besides my own. (which is white!) The May catalog was awesome too! I enjoyed reading the short captions and seeing where the different mothers and their families are from. It's so nice to see someone celebrate the single mother putting herself through school to better support her daughter and the lesbian couple that enjoy spending time with their children, very precious. Some Lesbians are mothers too and should be given more respect. Why shouldn't they be acknowledged on Mother's Day??? They have children! I thought it was also very awful, DEBORA BIRK, to refer to them as a species! They are people. How hurtful. You don't get anywhere by judging someone so harshly about a tattoo. Yes in the bible it says a lot of things you should not do. Actually quite a lot of ridiculous things that we don't follow anymore (or even know that its in the bible). Such as, you can't wear mixed fibers or the one where men aren't permitted to trim their beard hair, or all the many rules about the Sabbath. If you're going to follow the bible you can't pick and choose! So get over it! Sometimes a women falls in love with a person that so happens to be...GASP!... another women. Shocking! I recommend you get to KNOW someone with a tattoo or a gay couple and get over your own insecurities. These aren't the real enemies. LOVE people. Quite trying to control.
I have been blessed to be apart of the JCP family and our family was given a life because of JCP. I went into retail mgmt. because of the respect I and my family had for JCP. It is now, nor unlike other retailers become soley about GMROI and not so much about customer satisfaction. It is because of this gross focus on profits because of share holder demands, that I am 50 years old and unemployed. If you are a retailer with integrity and want to satisfy your customer, then I want to work with your team and earn your customers respect. Otherwise, revel in your lack of leadership, their home, car and dishonesty. Ask yourselves, have you ever met a CEO that you can trust, or share holders. The answer is a resounding NO. Welcome to retail.
I believe that people in business should remain neutral politically and also in the culture war. This way you can serve the needs of everyone. However your CEO has chosen to take a pro-gay stand as evidenced by your recent commercials and ad flyers. I understand his/her right to do so but I also have the right to choose not to shop at your store any more. Apparently a lot of other people feel the same way because your company has been losing a lot of money. Hooray for people standing firm for what they believe. This is the price you pay when you try to force a pro-gay agenda on American families. I have shopped at JcPenney for many years. Whenever you decide to remain neutral again then I will shop at your stores again. Enjoy bankruptcy if you continue on this path and choose to listen to only a select few.
