Very Sad
Yesterday, 12/10/2012, I went in your JC Penny store in Rutland, Vt. How sad it was to see your store so bleak, dull and cold looking. Why would anyone want to shop there. Completely different from last year. One wouldn't know that it was Christmas. I was at the jewelry counter and the young woman came in behind the counter and had her back from me and never acknowledged that I was there. Hardly any customers and looked as though the store was closing. Have seen low end discount stores more inviting. Just to let you know you are likely losing more customers. With all your changes, I have no desire to shop at JC Penny.
Sad
Yesterday I shopped at Bellis Fair shopping center in Bellingham, Washington. The whole atmosphere at JCPenny was SAD. Hardly anyone shopping in the store. So little inventory. Clerks were downhearted. The merchandise was of poor quality. I used to be excited to shop at JCPenny. With the new concept, it has totally devestated the store. I can't remember ever leaving a JCPenny store without purchasing something. What is the new CEO thinking? I won't go back. Just for information, the other retail stores at the shopping center were full of good quality inventory and hustle and bustle. It was a pleasure to shop at the other stores. I hope somehow the genius who thought of this (NOT) so new concept will rethink his idea. It is NOT working. Please do something to bring JCPenny back to life. Thank you.
Misleading Sale
I attempted to buy Shiny Bright Xmas ornaments at the Eden Prairie Mall store today. The signs in the decorations area said 50% OFF. At the counter I was told these were still full price. the manager insinuated someone probably not myself placed the signs by these ornaments. These ornaments sell at Menards for $14.83 full price. Penneys has them at $25. the only reason I was interested was for the garland. I will not be back when a 52 year old businessman is accused of attempting to mislead by moving signs. The signs read "ALL Christmas ornaments 50% OFF", sorry for thinking it included the Shiny Bright OVERPRICED ornaments. No wonder Menards sells so much Christmas decorating merchandise.
advertisments
I take offense at their new advertisements that seem to be politically motivated and "correct". The ads should not be used to indoctricate but stay neutral and JUST SELL PRODUCT!
Black Friday
I have made my first stop on black friday for many years. The free snowglobes were a trophy showing that yes I stood in line and shopped on black friday. I would ususally spend two to three hundred dollars at you store on that day. My Christmas display of snowglobes now has a button that say "Santa I can explain" with a "china sticker in the back - this year I did not spend any money and I will not be back on black friday untill the snowglobes return.
GREAT
Love your stores! The Holiday Buttons are fantastic and fun. I have won many times.
Costco gets my business
I have been a life long customer. My parent bought my school clothes at JCP, and I buy my kids as well as my items too. I will NO longer do business w your company. Your items are over priced...you run Stafford under shirts for $22 for a 2 pack...Costco sells the same quality shirts in a 6 pk for $21. Also in this economy you need to run coupons to drive people in. I understand you guys are looking to profit...I work for a Fortune 500 company and it sounds like to me you need a new CEO to get you back on track...the current one need to stick w what he knows Apple computers.
Horrible service at the JCPenny Portrait Studio at the Pallisades Center Mall in West Nyack NY.
Horrible service at the JCPenny Portrait Studio at the Pallisades Center Mall in West Nyack NY. Staff was rude and basically lied to us. I hit holiday traffic on the way to an appointment with my 3yr old son. 20min before my schedule time I knew I would be about 5-10min late. I also know these appointments run every 10minutes, so three times I attempted to call the studio to find out if they were running late and if I should just turn around. Nobody answered the phone (I found out later, the rude woman working the desk just wasn’t answering the phone – probably because her shift was ending soon and she just wanted to leave). I continued to the store and arrived at the building about 5min late for the appointment, went to the third floor and then spent 5min looking for the studio or a salesperson to direct me because there were no signs. I arrived at the desk 10min late. By the time the saleswoman started to help me (about 2-3 min later, then couldn’t find my appt, so I had to give her my confirmation number), she was for lack of a better word completely disinterested because her shift was ending. She told me I had to come back because I missed the appointment. There were photographers in both studios, but nobody waiting in the lobby. I asked if someone else didn’t show up, could I have their slot. She said yes, so my plan was to wait 15min (to see if any of the 4 people scheduled for the next set of appointments would miss and I could get their slot). Well, at 6pm the first 6pm arrived, but the second one did not. Instead of putting me in that spot, the rude salesperson just ignored me and didn’t tell the photographer who was now free and just chit-chatting with her last customer. When neither of the 6:10pm appointments arrived, I asked if I could have one of their spots. Since the 6:20pm appointment had arrived the rude saleswoman told me that since I missed my appointment she was giving the 6:20pm woman the next slot. She also told the photographer in a very rude way that I had been late and missed my appointment. I then asked the photographer why I couldn’t have the 6:10pm slot (or the 6pm for that matter since they never arrived) and the photographer said she had to set-up for the 6:20pm and she would try to fit me in after. Since her 5:50pm appt had finished at 6pm, this photographer spent 8min chatting behind the counter with the obnoxious saleswoman, then 5min in her studio “setting up”, then took the 6:20pm appt at 6:15pm. I waited, thinking they would be done at 6:25pm (since these are 10min appts), but it was crystal clear this photographer was purposely going slow – chit chatting with the family in the studio, and suggesting more shots because she knew I was waiting. It became a game for these two rude woman – how long could they have me wait. It was clear that even if the next four appointments didn’t arrive I would never be seen with my son. I was always polite, and gave them no cause for this horrible treatment. If they would have answered the phone any of the three times I called en route this would have been avoided. If they would have been honest and said, you are not getting a slot- even if we have a no show, I would have left and not waited for 40min with a toddler dressed and ready to be photographed. I work 60hrs a week. It was very challenging to arrange my schedule to make this appointment. Had the woman told me straight up that even if someone didn’t arrive, they would take the next appointment if they arrived early (b/c that is what she later told me was their“policy”), we would not have waited. In the end, at 7:30pm we traveled 5min up the road to Sears where the saleswoman was very nice, kind and understanding, and took awesome photos. You have lost what was a lifelong customer. We have recently moved to the area, so maybe the horrible treatment at the Pallisades Center Mall in West Nyack is not typical for JCP, but those employees should be disciplined for their horrible treatment.
store persons
we have been loyal customers for 30+years i went to my local jcpenney 5 mins before they closed and asked for help in the baby dept because i have a new grandson. i was told by the sales person when i asked for help were closed it was 858pm and would not show me the items i was looking for my wife and granddaughter then meet me in the same area i told them the store was closed she put down the items and we left
buttons
nice promo but my three year old granddauther went with me to jcp and i bough baby items for my new grandson at the register my grandaugher asked the clerk for a button and was given one she and i were upset goodbye jcp
Poor products and worse service
I called customer service to inform the company a product made for them was not manufactured correctly. I called the customer service number I found on the internet and was connected to the Columbus Ohio call center. They never asked my name, store, how long I had been a customer, or if I had used this product in the past. I decided the Headquarters office should know these things if they ever intend to survive this economy, and I could not get through their call control tree without a specific name or extension number. I will have a very difficult time doing business with a company like this in the future.
False Ads
I made it to the store on Black Friday at 5:30 am. When the store open I went to cookware to purchase the Belgian waffle iron and coffee pot for $8.00, needless to say the products were not in the store at all, nor was it online when the sales person tried to order in for me. SMH - First Colony Jcpenny - Sugarland, Texas. I want my products.
Customer service is so sad
I purchased an item online that said one week ship, well that was three weeks ago and guess what? No one cares! It's now on sale, why wouldn't it be it's been so long. JCP will not credit me the difference in price! Are you kidding me not only is the "shipping time" false advertisement but Inhavent recieved my item, it's on sale and they won't credit me! JCP would actually rather have me cancel the order, reject the delivery from UPS and re order it at the sale price! Someone from Kohls please show JCP how it's done. Btw I did try them first because of their outstanding service to customers , unfortunately they didn't have my item. The first customer service rep I got hung up on me when I expressed my fusterating with the incorrect shipping time. Really you don't need a fancy college degree to read all the reviews and see how bad it is. Why isn't anyone listening. I'm all done JCP and by the looks of it so are a lot of people.
unsatisfied customer
Loyal customer for years at store 2703 in Memphis. Recently visited and didn't receive service base on appointment. Lately my stylist have been very upset that we don't keep products and i hear other stylist stated the same. I don't know about this new salon manager. She needs training or the company needs to hire someone to do the job because faithful customer as myself will not tolerate it. I love my stylist but my hair is more important. If i can't get my service that i scheduled in advance. How does that look upon the company. I know Jcpenney doesn't support this and i would like to see it rectified and a speedy time manner. I can't wait or go on with my stylist and me being upset at manager because of lack of attendance or concern with company and client needs.
Total Disappointment
Until this year I so enjoyed the choices of companies:eg Gloria Vanderbilt and others. The store I shop in is Fashion Valley in San Diego. I much preferred the coupons and better choices in Men's Wear such as their sweaters. Today I could find nothing to compare to Christmas' past. The new idea of JCP is a real "DUD"/ I thinke the president should be replaced as his ideas are not winning over people that I have spoken with. Somtimes it is better to leave enough alone.
Townsend
I love what you have done with the store. I love the new fair and square prices. I went to the store in Fayetteville NC. It was so cold in the store even the employees were complaining. My daughters nose started to run. So I put back everything that I had and left. It's was just to cold in the store. Sorry
Your Change "Square Deal"
Since JCP have change to "Square Deal", I've experienced that the women clothing prices are higher and the quality has gone down. It seems that your store is catering to a yourger group of people. Also, women and girs clothes cost more than boys or men and their quality is much better.
A loyal customer no more
I have been a loyal customer for over 16 years, buying almost all my clothes from JCPenny. The St. John's Bay line has been a staple in my wardrobe every season and one I know will always fit. Since the line was dropped I no longer have a reason to shop here anymore. I am very disappointed in the way JCPenny has been run into the ground. I guess all my business will go to Kohl's now.
SJB Active Wear
I totally agree with everything that Erin said that posted on September 5, 2012. Just like her, I really enjoyed the activewear that had the pants and tops with the matching jackets. I'm a flight attendant and they were very easy to pack and go without wrinkling, especially when traveling overseas to Ireland. My friends would say "where did you get your outfit, it's so cute" and I would tell them "JCPenney...they are my go to store these days" and they say "you're kidding, JCPenney...I've got to start shopping there". Had I known that you were going to totally do away with that line I would've bought two or three of everything! I'm so sad because I can't even find them on eBay,not one single set. That should tell you something everybody likes them or there would be some available. Bring back SJB Active Wear!
Dear JC Penny, Just a short note to let you know that instead of doing my Christmas shopping at Macy's (who support Mr. Trump) I plan on doing all of my Christmas shopping at JCP this year. Ellen is a great spokesperson, congratulations on being the new "go to" store for me. Merry Christmas. Christopher
