Buyers who do not like their purchases, will say whatever it takes to extract refunds. I had a buyer say item was shipped back, yet this person kept item, and received refund! I had another buyer leave rating, 'item not as described' because she did not like the top I sold, it was brand new, buyer said, 'it looked like it came from thrift store!' I bought this top about a month before I sold it, it had not been worn, yet this buyer can leave a comment like this, and cause paypal funds to be held up, rating to be lowered, listings to be placed in less visible areas on ebay site. Why are buyers being allowed to ruin sellers who are trying to make a few extra dollars? Doesn't Ebay/ Paypal know that by holding funds, it causes sellers to go without monies they earn, when its needed, just as quickly, as shipping items are expected, ASAP! Rules to improve seller ratings, 'ship item as soon as buyer pays', yet waiting for 21 days for funds, is not a problem? Bill collectors don't wait for 21 days, for payment, because you decide to punish them, for calling, morning noon and night. If I were to rate bill collectors, as to their performance as, 'terrorists', they would surely be waiting at least 21 days for payment! I have heard all sort of reasons why the monies are being held. Someone with a perfect score is being told their rating is too low? I have been told by reps, that its because of, 'item not as described', yet buyer who kept item and received refund, was refunded by Ebay, not me, and Ebay stated my listing was exactly as it should be, 'exactly described' following Ebay policy. I have been told its because I don't have a store open, yet I hear horror stories from those who do, and frozen funds, regardless of having an Ebay store. I also hear about the 'tons of interest' collected, on paypal funds being held, which seems to make the most sense, but aside from all the possible motives, for holding back on giving what is rightfully due sellers, once items are shipped, I feel that overall, the most hurtful thing being done is to take away the little cash someone makes to help them live. We are USAF, the little we make on Ebay has been helpful, especially when we care for other family members who are having hard times. This whole thing is about greed, its sad, and disturbing that a service that once provided relief to masses, is now causing grief and suffering to people who came to trust a company that is now becoming shady, and losing support of thousands of people. I do hope Ebay/ Paypal broadens their views about the 21 day hold, becuase I can foresee more losses than just the little people who are being stepped on. A corporation of their magnititude should not act so haughty, no one stays 'On top', that does not show 'justice to the people'.

I will no longer do business with eBay . The buyer didn't go by policy and ripped me off eBay did nothing. She is still selling the same item . The item is a pre sale and it was more than 45 days and the buyer said she would put money back in my account and didn't and eBay doesn't care because it is past 45 days. They protect the buyer even after she ripped me off 77.94 and I will not do business with a company that will not protect me or somebody else from being a victim I would think twice before I buy something.
right hello im a account holder of ebay and im very miffed off with your teatment of my self from your company i have been selling stuff and buying things off ebay for a very long time but!!! over the last few months i hve had nothing but problems from ebay saying im below standard and now i open my account to look at my listings that had got bids on and only a day to go and you have deleted all of them the most ironic thing about the hole sorry matter is i have done nothing wrong to deserve any of this treatment . * I first had problems with a buyer saying they had not receved the item but i had i tracked and they had got it and was trying to get there money back as well as ebay did nothing only made my account resricted. * Then i bought a coat paid for it never got it and never got my money back. Rang ebay they said they could not do any thing and hung up!!! * i have got fantastic feed back off the items i have sold it has all been good things and some really nice feed back ebay says this is not relevent but if the buyers are happy what the hell is the issues with deleting all my listed items ??? * Now i have messages wanting to know were the items have gone and why i have deleted them as they had bid on them! * All the time this is going off pay pal is informed and they put holds on my payments so i cant get my money out my account for 21 days because of the holds its just one big mess and help well there is none you ring ebay get cut off or sorry its the way it is wait till the 20 th of this month it will be better you need to improve so do all i can to improve even offer no postage cost and still i cant get above the below sellors standared its all a load of pants!!!! im sick so sick they you get this star rating 5 stars for this 5 stars for that then ebay mackes it so easy to mark other peoples feed back down till they cut you off and the reall problem with the people that are doing wrong they get away with it !!!!! its soo sooo sick they need to get it all sorted !!! but of normal luck us little people dont get no help do we!!!
This is in reply to B & E Computers. I too was suspended indefinately by Ebay for leaving to many negatives on sellers. Every single one of them was deserved. Here is the kicker,,, I have over $1,000 of purchases that I havent received and have no way to contact the sellers thru the Ebay system to find out where my items are. If Ebay is going to suspend your account they should make it to where you are not able to purchase new items but you should be able to complete the sale for items you have already paid for. I also had aquired several hundreds of dollars worth of "Ebay Bucks" that are now gone. I have always paid immediately after winning or buying (within minutes) yet allot of the items I received were damaged due to totally incompetent sellers who lack the common sense to package items worth several hundreds of dollars without any cushioning to protect them in shipping. We have an appointment with a lawyer next week to discuss this. This is basically theft on Ebays part. We have purchased items,,, we have no way to contact the sellers,,, and we cant get ahold of Ebay. Anyone else see something wrong with this picture ? Ebays stock has constantly been going down and they wonder why. What a bunch on idiots
I agree that there should be a law suit against ebay and pay pal for witholding funds for 21 days. WHO GETS THE INTEREST ON THAT MONEY!!!! We sell our things and when we get paid for it, it is our money. Ebay and Pay Pal play God too much. Who are they to decide and make up rules and regulations as they see fit their agendas. Sellers have no voice. They are treated like crap and basically have no rights BUT yet ebay and paypal need sellers to have buyers to make money off of all. So why not give sellers a break. ON top of it all they now charge a fee for shipping fee. They want you to lower the shipping fee or offer free shiping. ARE THEY GOING TO COVER THE DIFFERENCE? Why should sellers lower their shipping fees when the cost is what it is. Why are sellers getting punished. With all their rules BUYERS are taking advantage and SELLERS have to suck it up. Hello! I am writing again to say that there really is GOOD in the WORLD, and even on Ebay! My Seller experience was rectified no thanks to Ebay! But the goodness of the Seller herself! She amicably SENT ME A FULL REFUND once she realized that a mistake had accidentially been made! I would like to thank her on this forum for being a true asset to the Ebay world! I will be calling my congressman to complain about the unethical means ebay and it's ceo John Donahoe scarf fees for every little thing, now a fee for shipping. I believe it's unethical and extortive. John Donahoe must be a nickel and dimer himself. I may be filing a complaint with the district attorney of New York.
I am writting this review about eBay buying this am as they placed a restriction on my account for 90 days because I filed too many disputes against sellers they say, however I have purchased over 200 items this past month alone. I tried contacting the sellers and calling them without being able to contact them so the next step after waiting 2 to 3 days was to open a dispute and still got no response at all. I buy and sell allot of laptops and laptop items and I repair my laptops back to the new condition so I have to have next to perfect items and when it is listed in that way that is what I purchase. So0 when I get an item and it is junk then the course is to contact the seller send it back and get a refund. So eBay is being very unfair to sellers 1st they take away the negative comment so the buyer has you there big time, and now they do this, they should consider that the seller does not respond so that one is the sellers and not the buyers. eBay is getting worse every single day, when you send i9n an email about something like this they should respond would not you think? I GUARANTEE YOU EBAY WILL NOT RESPOND TO THIS IF THEY DO I WILL COME BACK AND EAT MY WORDS. THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT
I have experienced the tragedies of a business monopoly that we so often allow in our country. We are undoubtedly the MAJORITY but allow the continued treatment as though we are such a non factor in the scheme of all things EBAY/PAYPAL. I have just been dubbed out of $4,399.00 on a handbag that was not the one I purchased in the auction listing. Trying to get a honest account from the Seller, truly not representative of all Ebay Sellers this was my first bad experience from a Seller! A pretty expensive lesson but most valueable for me! How can we allow this treatment wen we are the force that keeps this wheel churning! It is truly time for a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT again, but more important it is time to force our government to end this EBAY/PAYPAL Wall Street mentality operation! There is no type of government watchdog to keep them in line! Again, we should all be filing a complaint with the Office of controller of the Currency. These are the federal banking regulators, as we all know the "Squeaky wheel gets the OIL." We must holler a little louder, and longer! The inability to reach Ebay, and the long waits, and intentional disconnects cannot be tolerated. I am done with Ebay/Paypal and the pseudo Buyer Protection policies are a JOKE! Let's ban together to insite change!! I am officially declaring a OCCUPY EBAY movement!! I have left both ebay and paypal as they are not held accountable at all for their abominable practices. They are totally a law unto themselves- huh did I say LAW !! They are unjust , uncaring and DO NOT act in an honourable way. They only protect ebay but whilst there enough people who fall into their clutches they will not have to change their ways. Paypal are terrible - they do not seem to be covered with any good regulation and have total control over OUR MONEY. Would you put up with this travesty from your usual bank. No indeed. But as you cannot eyeball anyone and haul them over the coals for their behaviour nothing will change I am afraid. They will get their comeuppance one day and I for one will be absolutely delighted. It will be long overdue. I would willingly join the throng of people waiting to lynch the people at the top. Metaphorically, of course .............. Shame because the concept of ebay is good. It is the poor administration and disastrous customer relations that make it a sad travesty of its original good beginnings.
You people need to start recording your phone communications with Ebay / Paypal. So much of what is posted here is completely unbelievable. Only other users with similar experiences will accept the fact that this stuff is really happening. You must post these audio conversations on Youtube, share them as mp3s, etc. Get noisy! Mainstream media will pick up on it and presto!- Ebay and Paypal will do something about fixing their frankenstein.
For anyone that is having trouble with eBay and/or Paypal manipulating or controlling your monies please do this... File a complaint with the Office of Controller of the Currency. Although PayPal claims not to be a banking institution they sure appear to act like one. These are the Federal Banking Regulators and if the get complaints they will look into them for you and enough complaints will cause a serious investigation neither eBay or PayPal wants.
Many years ago we created an eBay account. There were issues and we lost the account, it was so long ago we don't even know why. Our operation has changed considerably since then. If you check the LA BBB, our business (Botach Tactical) is at an A+, which is a testiment to how far we've come, even in the past 6 months. We have sent numerous appeals to eBay for account reinstatement and they did reinstate our account this year. We then received an email on 7/4 saying that 'serious suspicous activity' has resulted in our account being suspended. We know we didn't do anything wrong and when we call eBay, they have no explanation for us and just hang up on us. Our emails have gone unanswered. We recently had the same situation with PayPal and, upon their further investigation, they apologized to us for mistakenly suspending our account. If eBay were to take the time to conduct the same ethical investigation, they'll see that there's no reason for our account to be suspended. We should be allowed to use eBay's market for our business like everybody else and, if there is an issue or we did do something wrong, we have the right to know what exactly we did to violate their policy. For a company that is so customer service oriented, their customer service is terrible!
This is NOT how a company should be run! EBAY is fully aware of how they treat buyers and sellers when there is a problem. CEO JOHN DONAHOE IS HEARTLESS AND RUNS EBAY WITH NO RESPECT FOR ANYONE AND ESPECIALLY SELLERS WHEN IT COMES TO ACCOUNT SUSPENSIONS. After 2 problems I had with deadbeat buyers and over 600 possitive feedback I have said "NO MORE!!!" and will seek to join ANY lawsuit against this company to teach the entire eBay excecutive team the differance between right and wrong!
I sold coupons with an expiration date, a buyer won the auction. I noted he was 2 states away, so I emailed the buyer to say they must be paid immediately, or they don't get shipped out on time, he paid 2 days later, they got shipped out that day. 2 days later, the USPS attempted to deliver and a notice was left on 11/19. On 12/3, I received a negative feedback stating this buyer did not receive in enough time and the coupons had expired. EBAY customer service stated they cannot remove the feedback because he did not violate the feedback policy. This has affected my rating to a 97%. I had something similar with another buyer who I tried to contact about an item she bid on and she refused to cancel the transaction. Ebay would not do anything. All the representatives sound the same, so I don't know if I even had the chance to speak to a supervisor. They also do not allow you to get an address or a number to file a complaint. This buyer is now getting away with leaving false, inaccurate information on my feedback and Ebay doesn't care. As a seller, you think our fees would give us clout, however, we do not. We work for them basically. The buyer has all the rights in my case. The representatives hung up on me several times, or passed me to a number that was busy. Never once did I get assistance. How can this business continue to take money from their sellers, yet not protect us? I am taking down my account, I'm tired of dealing with these paid slaves who are trained to say "I understand how you feel" yet do nothing for us. I was told Ebay has to respect their customer feedback, even if they are lying?
Exact same thing happened to me, except they also locked my account, and removed all my listings. I have contacted the person in this article so I may also join this cause. Honestly my situation is WORSE. I was reduced "below seller standards" back in June, and even though I have a 98.9% customer satisfaction, and over 8 months WITHOUT A NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, I'm still "below seller standards". I was told they reassess accounts every 20th of the month, however a negative review STICKS TO YOUR ACCOUNT FOR OVER A YEAR! As I said before, I am contacting this business about trying to "join them". This is obviously an illegal practice of big business on little business, an if it results in legal action, I will do my part for the cause.
December 1, 2011 EBay Attention Legal Department To whom this may concern, We are writing today with regard to our EBay Seller Account: “ourcollectiblecuriosities”. We have been selling on EBay since February 11, 2011 and in that time have received 157 Positive Feedbacks, 1 Negative. On November 20, 2011 we were shocked to see that EBay had changed our performance to below standard, and further shocked to find that PayPal had placed our funds in a 21 day pending status-keeping us from accessing our money paid from items sold on EBay. We contacted PayPal to ask why we had a hold on our money, and were told that they had been told by EBay to do so, due to our “Below Standard Performance” rating. We asked them what legal right did they have to withhold our money. The response was the same; basically “Because EBay said so”. After going in circles with PayPal, being disconnected three times, put on hold repeatedly (at times for over 30 minutes), speaking with three customer service representatives transferred to two different departments and finally speaking to a supervisor, then being disconnected yet again, we decided it was time to call EBay to try to resolve the problem. After being on hold for yet another 30 minutes, we spoke with a “Customer Service Representative”. We were asked to bring up our seller account online and to look at the detailed seller ratings page, at which time we were informed that the reason our money was being held was that we had received less than 5 stars in the month of October, 2011 by 6 of our buyers. We asked where we could find the documentation to back this up, and were told that EBay could not provide this to us. Herein lays the problem. In our 157 Positive Feedbacks, (we informed the CSR), approximately 98% of our buyer’s feedback makes a direct reference to how great our shipping is. Twelve Pages of Positive Feedback and on Every Single Page of those twelve, there are comments which refer to how great our shipping is. We asked, yet again, where the negative feedback regarding our shipping is. The response was another non-answer. We then asked the CSR How EBay withholds sellers’ funds when a seller drops below standard, who does not use PayPal as their payment method? The response? You can’t sell on EBay unless you use PayPal as the payment method. After being transferred yet again, to another department-we were informed that “this is only temporary” that we would be reviewed again on December 20, 2011 and that our performance was fine at this point and that our money is usually released within 7 days, we hung up. Two days later, after noticing that none of our funds had been released, even though we had shipped, provided tracking information, and received positive feedback from the buyers, we began the daunting task of phone calls to PayPal & EBay yet again. PayPal noted that the “system isn’t perfect and sometimes you have to call us so that we can manually release your funds”. They then released $18.00 of the $328.00 they were keeping from us. Next we called EBay to once again try to resolve the problem, and were connected to a CSR named “Nick”, who would not provide his full name, despite us asking him several times to do so. After explaining the problem to Nick, directing him to our feedback pages, etc. Nick put us on hold for approximately 15 minutes, then returned to the phone and promised that all of our funds would be released within 24 hours. We asked him to repeat what he had said, and he again stated that ALL of our funds would be released within 24 hours. He then provided us with a “Service Tag Number”:1-2054806672, and stated that if for any reason our money was not released within 24 hours, we could call EBay, refer to that service tag number and they would fix the problem right away. Today when we checked our PayPal balance, nothing had changed-everything was still pending, and we could not withdraw any of our money. We called EBay and asked for a supervisor. We were placed on hold for over ten minutes, and then asked by the CSR if the supervisor could call us back in twenty minutes. We said no, we wanted to speak with them now. The supervisor came on the line stated his name (which we could not understand) then his title as account supervisor for EBay. We explained the problem to him, then provided him with the service tag number, as well as the CSR’s name (Nick) who had promised us our money within 24 hours only to be informed by the supervisor that he showed no record of the conversation which was referenced by the service tag number we gave him, nor did he know a CSR named Nick. At this point, we once again explained in detail to the supervisor that we have had no complaints whatsoever about our shipping, then asked him to read our feedback pages. We were placed on hold, and when he returned we were once again told that it was a less than 5 star rating that caused this hold status to be placed on our funds. We asked him to provide us with the documentation to prove this, and again were told that EBay could not provide this to us. The supervisor was very rude, and short tempered with us, then explained the “policies” of EBay with regard to this issue. Once again, we asked for documentation showing anything negative with regard to our seller account to back up this claim by EBay, again none could be produced. Our issue with this situation is this: If we are being”punished” for allegedly falling below standard in our seller performance, we, by law have a right to refute the allegations made against us. EBay has to provide us with the FACTUAL DOCUMENTATION which they are basing their decision upon, especially when the result of these allegations is stopping us from accessing our money from items we have sold, shipped and delivered to satisfied buyers. We have a legal right to respond to these allegations and dispute them before any sanctions are put in place against us. We have not been provided with any proof that any of the allegations made against us are true, nor if any actually exist. What we are being told is that we just have to take EBay’s word for it and deal with the sanctions until the next review. This is unacceptable, and from what we have ascertained, not legal. We would ask that you review this matter at once, and that you resolve this matter by releasing all of our money today. Please contact us with what you have decided, as we are a small company and cannot afford to have our money tied up like this. It is crippling our business and needs to be addressed right away. I'm not shocked to find the seething frustration associated with ebay in these emails! I have been a participant for almost 10 years and feel the same way. We aren't doing any good this way though! We need to find a public forum and band together to be heard. The USPS also needs their cage rattled! HOW can ebay hold a seller accountable for dilivery mihaps? HOW???? I can package with bubble wrap till I'm dizzy! If the postal workers put my package UNDER the truck instead of INSIDE the truck, and deliver it smashed to bits, HOW IS THAT MY FAULT??? Ebay will take the item cost, +shipping right out of my account anyway! (even though there are many comments in my feedback praising my packaging skills!) I guess, we all should purchase things and then get our money back from ebay by simply saying "oh, it was broken". Hmmmmmmmm. WOW. Welcome to corporate America...where there is no accountability unless you sue. (this may be why the USPS is losing their asses too!) DUH. BOTTOM LINE: Ebay is forcing sellers to pay for the lazy, ignorant, disrespectful government employees! How does that grab ya?
* * * * ATTENTION EBAY AND PAYPAL USERS * * * * I will never use Ebay or PayPal again. This was the first time I used both "services" as a "secure" way to do business online. After receiving his merchandise as agreed, my buyer elected to contest the charges to his credit card, which PayPal promptly debited my account to the tune of $1872.00 - both Ebay and PayPal appear to be doing absolutely nothing to investigate this scam, even though I have been contacted by another individual involved. Meanwhile, both Ebay and PayPal demand payment for their "services". Never Again.
