I got direct tv i signed the verbal contract say $87.00 a month with the verizon deal and that they would handle everything. Come 55 days later I contact verizon because they keep sending me a bill. Verizon and i both talk to direct tv and i am then told the only way i could have gotten the deal i was promised was to start with verizon because i would have had to been a new customer with direct tv...it didn't matter that I was a NEW customer because it wasn't newer than the Verizon. So when i called direct tv back and asked them why I entered into the 87 a month verbal contract with them when they knew very well that it had to be done thru verizon they told me that "even though all call are recorded" they had no record of my verbal contract...but I am still breaking contract. Now if there is no record at all of my contract by them...how can I break the contract? now they want 420 bucks as an early termination of the "contract" they doesn't seem to exsist. how does that make sense?

I went to Directv because I though I was getting ripped of by Charter. Well I wish I had stayed with Cable. from day 1 I was lyied to. they tell tell you that you will get all this and when you get it you really get it hope you have four arms and four legs because that is what is going to cost you. I signed up expecting the package deal tv phone and cable will I got a deal it cast me more money amonth than charter was charging me. I think that someone should start a class action suit against them to show that the customers are done taking there phony agreements.

There should be a 0 rating for customer service. Once the have you locked into a contract they don't care how they treat you. We have requested an upgrade on our receiver but nothing seems to get approved. We have been paying for the insurance every month to cover problems but now we have been told that it doesn't cover our dish because we are permanent RVers. But no one bothered to tell us this until we called for service on the dish. Customer service reps are extremely rude and uncooperative and unsympathetic. This must be a prerequisite in order to get a job at Direct TV. To be honest with you I don't know why I'm bothering to complain. I guess I'm hoping someone would care enough to read these reviews and try to resolve some of the issues rather than loose customers.

We upgraded last year in 2011, and got new equipment, or at least that is what I thought. We received a refurbished receiver. It was junk so they sent me another refurbished one. It records when it want to, and doesnt want to change channels. I called back, but wasn't going to pay anymore money when I had just signed another 2 year agreement. So I called again on the 22nd, and was told that only new customers get the new equipment. Does that make since?! We are supposed to be a valued customer, but yet we get used equipment! Said I could get a new, refurbished receiver if I would sign another 2 year agreement. NO!!!! So I talked to a manager, whose name and badge id # I will not post, and he said there is no record of me ever calling. So I pulled some of my bills that I have paid over the phone, and low and behold, there is no record that I even called to pay my bill. I told him I'd fax my copy to him where I have everything wrote down, and he told me there was no way of knowing for sure if I called in, paid by website, or just wrote it down. Now that made me extremely mad, because he was basically calling me a liar!!! I am contacting the Corporate Office, and if they won't do anything, I will be canceling my service and going else where. CUSTOMERS, BEWARE!!!!!!!

made a payment thru Direct TV auto pay by phone.. money gone from my account and it state Direct TV next to it.. call and was told oh well we don't see your payment you been cut off. now you the customer must prove it and wait an extra 10-15 day before we have and answer? or you can just pay the bill again? what are you out of your mind? people in the country have no jobs no extra money to spend and you think I gone to pull this from where? also just moved, diect tv said they could hook us up with ATT internet, well do I really ned to go there? O'Yes well ATT said remind you direct TV set this up.. well ATT said they could not provide us with internet. what did direct tv say?, well that not our problem but it between you and ATT. just released from the hospital after a sroke and if talk to the customer service help? NO I though I was have another one after the phone call. thanks direct TV I don't like you you should have the stars set also as -5 stars.

I had to cancel my service, and couldn't pay the final bill until I had the money. I'm disabled and on a VERY tight budget. I had some other things come up that I needed the money for, that normally would be allotted to cable/tv bill. I told them I'd pay when I could, so they said they would NOT send me boxes to send the equipment back, but would only charge me $5 a month until I paid off the bill and then they'd send boxes. I found two boxes two days ago in my mom's carport....so I figured they had decided to let me send the equipment back. I shipped it back yesterday. I had money in my acct. for my elec. AND rx's for my daughter that the ins. doesn't cover all the way of course and got a frantic call this morning from my bank. Yes, a small town bank...they know me personally. The woman who called me said Directv had tried to charge my account yesterday WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION, first an amount of $550.00, second one of $440.00 and the third for $335.00 (these are rounded off amounts). Guess what? The one for $335 went through and WIPED OUT my account!!!! My elec. is going to be turned off and I can't get my DAUGHTER'S rx's. I've tried calling them ALL DAY off and on and they have a wait time of up to 30 minutes. I can't hold my freaking phone for 30 minutes, much less use my minutes like that. I am SO ANGRY they took money without me authorizing it. Especially when it was ME who contacted them in the first place about cancelling. Watched the CEO of directv on that bosses undercover show and he was supposedly so nice and caring and wanted to thank his employees and customers.....boy he thanked me alright. GOOD LUCK if you sign up for Directv and want to cancel.

Class action is right... Who's ready? Direct TV just told me that they cannot issue a trace to an ordered PPV but yet it is on the access ID from 2 years ago. They apparently don't have the resources to do that. "cough cough". Really? Well here is a word of advice to users.. Before you cancel your direct Tv account order a PPV through your remote which they say can only be found on the access card- remove your access id card before sending it back and then see if they still find a way to charge you. My guess is they will find a way. But, I bet they will have the "resources" to change the service aggreement to stick it to you. Oh and on your final statement due upon reipt really means due in 3 days or you get charged a 3 dollar late fee. Direct Tv and all of the cable companies will be done away with in a few years anyways. My advice.. Go with netflix hulu or online streams.. Its so much simpler to get charged for something you know you used. I am so upset that DTV CAN CHARGE YOU FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY SAY IS ON AN ACCESS CARD THAT YOU SENT and not even provide you with tangible evidence from a statement or a trace You have to trust that they found it. I was told that they had deemed the charge valid and that is supposed to be good enough.. Well I have news for them I need proof. Everything in this day and age is traceable and I need the evidence. I will not accept this. I will NEVER use any cable or satellite company again. Join me on Netflix or hulu and watch your news and stations online. Don't give them anymore money. Pay your 7 or eight dollars per month plus internet and forget that 70-150dollar bill a month. cable is dead. we as consumers must change this cycle. By the way.. Im sure you all are tired of the terrible customer service and Billing issues.. I had those issues for years.. Some advice DTV, and I hope one of your top corporate officers who gets paid hundreds of thousands of dollars reads this... You should change your company policies on the PPV access because you have made so many people unhappy with just thos one policy that can you imagine howany sells you lost from blog and word of mouth alone. I URGE EACH OF YOU WHO IS FED UP WITH DTV THINKING THEIR **** DOESNT STINK TO TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND BLOGGING WHERE EVER YOU CAN ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE.. I WOULD GIVE DTV 5 YEARS TOPS. THEY ARE BECOMING OBSOLETE. COME ON GOOGLE BROADCASTING! As for me my next step is to write a nice letter like this to each and every DTV OFFICIAL I can find. I will get them to pay the 50 dollar charge plus more in time and effort and paper to write me back. I live in a rural area. I would DITCH DIRECTV TODAY if Comcast or other REAL Cable companies were available in this Town. I can only describe DIRECTV as arrogat and self serving. My contract ends 12/31/2012. Then I am gone.

The sales person, quoted me price for internet and tv service bundle, I was given a quote, come to find out when they came to set up tv, they didn't have a order for the internet, let alone it wasn't provided by direct tv but a totally different company. Had to spend hours on the phone being transferred alll over before someone was able to offer to pull the call to have it reviewed and was told in 24 hours I would have a response. I ended up having to call them,but they were honest and said it had been sold incorrectly. I had asked for both and he only quoted me the tv, and I could call in 24 hours and cancel my service without any charges. I asked if they could just get it set up, then I was sent to bundle desk to set up internet with Frontier my local carrier. So I was given order #, contact # confirmation #, called Frontier since no one had called to find out that they didn't have me in their system and they don't bundle with anyone. He wanted to transfer me to their sales dept to set up an account. I then called Direct tv back and got every excuse in the book and assured it was all being taken care of. All along I'm paying my previous carrier until I can be sure I'm going to have service at all since I need it for work.. Then called direct tv back, I was told they should have my account it may take a bit longer to show up in their system. I can't tell you how many times and people I had to explain all this to. I finally asked just to cancel my order, and was told I was going to be penalized for breaking my contract if now was past 24 hours from when i ordered it not when they figured out what was wrong. Finally I was able to get through to Frontier and wasn't able to get internet for another 2 wks. What a joke, in mean time 1 of the many people at Direct tv put through my request to cancel my service. so now I had to start all over. finally 3 wks later I had both internet and tv service. Only to get my next bill for $100 for just the tv only.They charged me for the 3 month movie channels I was to have been getting free. of course it was my fault since I had asked to cancel my account. so she put through the credit and was charge $6 less than I was quoted, Ok finally. LOL next bill came again for $100 so I called again and was told they were having hard time putting through credit since it had been cancelled once and not set up again with the discount. Next I get a bill for 99 cents!! really?? I paid it not wanting to spend another 2 hours on hold or on the phone. to come home today to another $98 bill and spent 20 minutes trying to explain how pissed I was and being told she was truly sorry and trying to help explain what happen. I requested a sup - he again just tried to explain - by saying that their person I talked to put through the discount for month I missed and the next one because they were having troubles with their bill system and didn't know it. So all in all I asked just to let me out of my contract free of charge and he basically laughed and said he explained what had happened he was sorry and was trying to help me. So I tried to take him back through all of the above to be told he couldn't release me from my contract with out charge, My question was "When did you ever start upholding your end of the contract to begin with?"

DONT DERSERVE ANY STARS. DIRECT TV SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUISNESS. I WAS PROMISED ONE THING. THEY TELL ME WHAT MY BILL WILL BE & THEN MY INCREASE EVERY MONTH.. (AMONG OTHER THINGS) THIS COMPANY IS SO HORRIBLE I THINK MY NEXT MOVE IS TO COMPLAIN TO BETTER BUISNESS BUREAU.. So, we know for a fact that a sales rep sold our information to a criminal! After my husband being on the phone with them for over an hour to start new service... Because an ad they had mailed out was completely a lie, we were signed up for a cheaper price than Comcast! The next day someone calls to confirm our installation, knew the time and day of our appointment claimed to be from directtv and needed to also confirm our information. My husband, not thinking, gave the lady his address, ss#, and credit card info. Hung up and then realized that seemed fishy! Called the number back after trying to contact someone from direct tv and some dude answered hello! Def. not a direct tv worker. Ultimately, the employees at direct tv are in fact horrible and criminals... Awesome.

They charged my account $1091 without authorization, called and suppose to get refund, never got it, called back and it changed to only getting $300, now the viacom shit, I used to refer people but I will never do that again, EVER!

They should have a negative star my wife was on hold for over 1 hour, we are having problems with dsl (keeps shutting down) they set up an appointment with a tech to come out between 1 and 5 no show called missed it called cell number back no response and no message it is going on day 4 with no show. Well we have been with them over 4 years and now no more vary poor customer service, they must want to loose customers. They drop channels keep same rate and offer encore woopy crap they should give all channels until this is resolved.I THINK THE UPPER MANAGEMENT AND CEO DONT CARE LIKE REST OF CORPERATE AMERICA AS LONG AS THERE PAY IS STILL UP THERE AND THERE KIDS AND THEM CAN STILL AFFORRED THERE BMW PORSCHE AND EXTRAVAGANT LIFE STYLE WHO CARES ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT PAY THAT BONUS. Well we need to start boycotting all big company that dont like who pays for there pay checks

I have read several of these complaints, does anything happen from Direct TV to remedy these or are these people just "written off" does Directv feel like they have enough customers that they don't mind losing a few disgruntled customers. I have a small business if someone had things like these to say, I'd do everything possible to make it right. Instead of making the customer bend over backwards, I would. Then I know I would have them for life as a customer. I spoke with Katie employee number 1005573 about wanting to cancel with Directv and she said there would be a $20 per north cancellation fee for unused months. I am paying for certain TV statins and with the recent VIACOM action, some of the shows I am particularly paying for are gone now. No partial refund was given, so I am paying for TV I want, but do not get anymore . When Katie told me about the $20 per month early cancellation fee, I said "you guys just gouge peoples eyeballs out when ever you can, she answered back "I guess we do" Directv, is this the type of employees you have, thus creating the animosity people have for your company? DIRCTTV IS A JOKE! PLEASE IF ANYONE IS LOOKING TO SIGN UP WITH THEM DONT DO IT! I never wanted to get dircttv but I rented a house in the country and Comcast did not service the area so I got DTV because I need cable to wtach my shows but now the Viacom issue is happening and most of my shows are from Viacom. I can't watch any of my shows now. I signed a contract to get certain channel's and I fell like they are breaking the contract so I called to ask " why should I pay my bill if I'm not getting the channels I signed for" they said on the contract that all of it is subject to change. There isn't anything I can do. Also I bundled a package with them TV and internet but for three months I've been getting 2 separate bills which is costing over $75 more then what it should be. I keep calling to tell them its supposed to be one bill. They say they fixed it but they never really fix it every bill is separate. Also they keep telling me its going to take 2 bill cycles to be one bill so I have to wait 2 months to even have is all on one bill. It isn't my fault they didn't put it as a bundle or fix it everytime I call and tell them it should be one bill. Another thing is when I call I always get this ghetto talking Rep, I can barely understand, they always hang on you so you have to keep calling back and they are rude and will not put a supervisor on the phone! So today I called to cancel I figure I would rather go without TV then deal with there bullshit. They want me to pay over $450 to cancel. I'm suck with this hell. Can't watch my shows, paying out the ass for it and their mistakes, and I just have to take it. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN WITH DIRECTV AND IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT IT STOP THEM. they do not deserve this star but you have to put one . i am pregnant and i have a 5 year old daughter i am living on unemployment that is all the money we have to live on and they think they can take every bit of it i have. i will never have directv again i didnt sign the contract with them my boyfriend at the time did i paid the bill and when i couldnt pay the bill because i lost my job they took every dime i had and refused to give me my money. they still say i owe them more money.

I am a so called "Valued Customer" after being with Direct TV for more than 10 years. Recently thy started to nickle and dime me by gradually increasing my monthly fee so sudden that I may not notice it.... After talking with a supervisor I was shocked how rudely I was treated and flatly refused a rollback of my price increases. I guess thy don't need my business while Verizon is on my door weekly.....hasta-la-vista-baby!!!
