I had DirectTV installed at my home on 7/2/2012. I order the Entertainment Package which was advertised as $34.99 NOW $29.95 after Rebate. The add and the sales rep that I spoke with, Haley, stated there was not charge on equipment. I would receive 1 HD DVR and 3 HD Receivers plus the dish and professional installation at not cost. NO startup cost. I chose to bundle and was transferred to a third-party who informed me my internet and telephone would be through Verizon. What they did not do was port my phone number to Verizon. I called my previous provider and requested discontinuation of my service from them on July 2, the day DireectTV was coming to install. I received a confirmation letter showing my equipment and my charges only to find out that I am being charged $18.00 for the 3 HD receiver and $20 for the DVR plus the package price and a $19.95 shipping/service fee. I called DirectTV and spoke to a support specialist named Marquetta. She insisted the equipment was free. I kept telling her that $38 total for equipment was not FREE. Finally she said "we gave you the equipment for Free, however, once it is installed, there is a fee. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT - SHADY SALES TECHNIQUES. This is not mentioned in your printed add nor did the sales person, Haley, ever state this. Apparently this info is kept secret until you receive a bill. Then when I called Verizon support because I could not get my phones connected or internet, I was told my phone number was not ported to them by DirectTV and therefore the number is disconnected. So today, 7/6/2012 Verizon is sending a technician to my home to figure out how to straighten this up. The cost of having a technician to my home is $98.00 for the first one-half hour, and $45.00 for each additional half-hour. I am paying even more money because DirectTV did not do what they were suppose to. I feel DirectTV should pay Verizon's charge for a technician since they are responsible for the problem. Back to DirectTV. I was told I would receive Cinemax free for the term of my contract and Starz for 3 months. I have neither! The technician who installed DirectTV wantrd to leave, the software was still downloading and he didn't want to wait for it to finish. I told him what I was supporse to get, and assumed it should also be on his work order. Sine he left before downloads were finished, I didn't realize I did not have these features until after he left and downloads were complete. I called DirectTV and was told that since I didn't get Cinemax during the initial installation, they could send me a kit to install myself but I would have to pay for it! If this whole process isn't decptive and probably illegal, it is nothing. I don't know how DirectTV gets away with it's unethical sales and installation tactics. My DirectTV bill is not $29.99 but actually $84 and change. This not include Verizon, that is a separate charge for TV and Internet. In reality, I will be paying over $100/mnth. Since you are a public utility, I wil report this the PUC and also the BBB. Hopefully, some other prospective customer may check with this agencies for DirectTV's rating, I unfornately did not. I have had to miss a day of work, and spend numerous hours on the phone being transferred, given new numbers to call, etc. with no resolution. I would never recommend DirectTV to anyone. A satisfied customer is your best source for obtaining new customers, an unsatisfied customer can be your worse enemy. You may consider me an enemy.

I AM CONSTANTLY TOLD THAT I AM ELIGIBLE FOR FREE HD ACESS IF I SIGN UP FOR AUTO BILL PAY BUT WHEN I SIGN UP I DON'T GET THE DISCOUNT. DIRECT TV HAS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING AT OTHER CABLE PROVIDERS. THEY KEEP GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. I AM SICK OF DIRECT TV.

This far by the worst company I have ever dealt with..and I dont even have thier service...They have taken unauthorized charges to my bank account and I have been hung up on 4 times now...and lied to by a suppose to be supervisor..I am going to file leagal action against them...they are thieves!!!!!

They dont deserve any ratings. The customer service does not exist. They screw people over every chance they get. I have been with Direct TV for over 5 years and the cost continues to rise and the service continues to decline. Something is definately wrong with this picture. When you finally get someone on the phone they cant help you so you have to be forwarded to someone else. I was on the phone for 3 hours on 07/02/2012 and talked to 7 people! none of which could resolve the problem. I had order for new service at my daughters apartment which I canceled because they couldn't get matter resolved and Im disconting my service. Their employees are not trained properly and coukld care less how they treat the ones who actually give them their checks. If we as consumers didnt order the service they would ot be needed and therefore be unemployed but they dont get that. Noone deserves to be treated and should not have to go through the hassle I have to get problems resolved.

Where do they find these technicians??? Its like they just collected the bums hanging around a Panamanian bus station and put a drill in their hand. We have moved 3 times in the past 5 years and have not had one that we did not have to use hand signals to show where we wanted the TV. On guy was rolling in s. florida during the rainy season with a half dozen DVR's just laying in his open pickup. He then proceeded to ask us for a battery drill (his was plug in), a flashlight, and a ladder. I have now found out the last village idiot who had to come back twice to get the job done damaged our AC and now we have water damage in out roof. WTF??? Direct really needs to take some ownership of who gets sent when we call THEIR number. All I can think about when watching these morons is that it reminds me of Three Stooges doing plumbing or hanging wallpaper.

I have had direct tv for about 1 month I have actually watched it less that half the time do to it does not work.All I hear is I am very sorry.I had one guy come out and hook it up but could not hook up the internet part cause he said I do not do that,the wires were left looking poorly not tacked up neat.The tv went out a second tech came out did not want to touch the first techs stuff and was pissed off.He stated you need some one with more knowledge that he has to hook up internet.The other day tv went out so far it is 1 1/2 days no tv waiting on 3rd tech so far it has been since 8am and now 5 pm no tech,as far as i am concerned cable tv has it all over direct tv.If it is not fixed good by Directtv hello cable again and will tell all about this.

The only reason I have encore is I watch Gunsmoke and the westerns every day. now bonanza is on when Gunsmoke should be. I watch Bonanza on tvland everyday. I want Gunsmoke back.

Just like every other comment before, they will not accept any payment less then the past due to have services put back on. tried to offer but it would not help. also the cancellation fees are stupid, 20 bucks per month, and headquarters cannot override system, so they say. i would like to cancel and let it go. comcast is much better.

I am a new customer and I am extremely unhappy! My install was scheduled for Saturday June 30 from 12-4pm. The tech came out and within 5 minutes told me that it is against Directv policy to install a dish on the roof. This is rediculous!! Our apartment complex has several satellite dishes installed on the side or top of the roof. The installer called his supervisor and canceled our order per the fact that we don't have enough signal. Nothing was tested!! We have existing cables coming into our apartment from previous customers. After two days of several hours on the phone, being transferred to one department to another including supervisors, we are still without service. This order was placed last Tuesday and my bank account was debited on Tuesday for $221.00. I have been given installers phone numbers, one of which it is his day off and the other was a supervisor that works out of Chico Ca. My frustration level has gone through the roof!! I was told by the original tech that came out that we should order Comcast Cable instead. Is that a policy of Directv to referr customers to other companies? It is now after 3pm on Sunday and I still don't have my service I paid for. Also I had to reschedule my other responsibilities in order to be here for someone to resolve this problem. Now this needs to be handled ASAP!! Please contact us ASAP!!

WOW!!! First, I was lied to 3 TIMES in a row!! Then given an installation date that was changed, conveniently right after he had already taken my credit card number, to 4 days later! Then my card was charged before I even finished my order!! The man with the Internet department is the one that told me that my bill would be $25.00 MORE than what I was told and agreed to! Then after speaking with what I am positive was a drunken supervisor, I was informed that my bill was not only going to be $25.00 more but after 12 months was going to go UP ANOTHER $15.00!!!! Then later, after I was hung up on by 2 people, to top it all off... When a rep was speaking with my husband he asked if I was his girlfriend when my husband replies "No, my wife" he comes back with "wow, good luck with that!" CAN YOU BELIEVE THE INCOMPETENCE!!!! These people are ignorant, rude, greedy, hateful, careless and extremely CHEAP! I was tricked into canceling my prior service and am noe not only out the $21.35 that was taken from my account but almost $300.00 to get my other service started back up! Take my advice... DIRECT TV IS A SCAM!!! I plan to go above and beyond to get reimbursed what all was took from me AND MORE! I refuse to let this go without a huge FIGHT! I have already spoken with a lawyer and know that I currently have a small claims case and I plan to blow it up as big as I can in order to expose the crooks of this company!

Do not under any circumstances give DirrectTV your credit card or bank information as they tend to use it as their personal "piggy bank". I had a service call and their rep replaced the DVR unit (with older substandard unit)and took the old unit. Two weeks latter I recieved a box to return the old unit. At that time I called DirectTV notifing them the unit was removed by the service rep, this was notated. A month latter in checking my bank account I saw a charge from DirectTV for $339.12.It then took 3-hours on the phone to determine the charge was for not returning the DVR unit. They then acknowleged there mistake offered Stars progams at no charge for three months as appeasment. They then stated it would take 72-hours to refund. That was Monday this is Friday and no refund yet after anouther 2- hours on the phone with customer service rep and a supervisor. Only redeeming point,The supervisor did seek english.

Directv is a bunch of BS! I recorded shows onto dvd's for 3 years to watch at a later time, because the dvr they give you is insufficient in size to store anything for any length of time. Now, I cn't record a program shown in hd, the box will only record when it is in 480I quality. So now I call them, they tell me IT IS ILLEGAL TO RECORD PROGRAMS OFF THE TV! BS BS BS BS BS !!! It is not now, nor has it ever been illegal to record a program for personal use. I ain't sellin' it, I'm watchin' it, you morons! Time to kick Directv to the curb!

Customer service sucks!!!!!! Calls outsourced to other countries in which English is a second language which causes a lack of understanding on both ends!!! Was told to pay bill by 6/26/12 but was shut off at midnight on 6/25/12...... By 6/26/12 means just that, the ENTIRE 24 hrs of 6/26/12 ......would not accept payment of past due but wanted payment for bill not after 5 yrs, FUCK DIRECTTV

Just got off the phone with a manager that informed me that since my HD DVR wasnt working they would send me a replacement with a standard DVR, are you kidding me????? I have been paying for a HD DVR for 2 years and they are going to down grade me to a standard DVR... they also added 2 years to my contract when I moved in Jan... no new service. they can take their crappy service and i'll go back to cable. Try to sue me for the "cancellation fee"!!!

DIRECT TV IS THE WORSE COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEAL WITH. THEY HAVE STOLEN SO MUCH FROM US AND ARE THE WORSE LIERS EVER. THE STORY IS LONG AND EVERY TIME I SHARE IT, I GET SICK. I HAVE TRIED TO NICELY CALL THEM AND TELL THEM HOW FRUSTRATED MY HUSBAND AND I ARE BECAUSE OF THEIR WAY THEY HAVE SCREWED UP TO US AND THEY DONT CARE ALL THEY KEEP ASKING IS IF WE ARE MAKING A PAYMENT. AFTER HAVING A SUPERVISER ON THE PHONE, THAT I TRIED SO MUCH TO GET TO TALK TO, SHE WAS A REAL JERK AND I CANT REALLY BELIEVE HOW THEY CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE FROM PEOPLE LIKE US WHO ONLY GET TO WATCH 2 OR 3 CHANNELS OUT OF THEIR 300 BECAUSE THE REST ARE JONK. WE HAVE BEEN NORMALLY PAYING OUR BILL TILL THEY UPDATED OUR PACKAGE WITH ONE OF THEM MANY LIES THAT DOUBLED OUR PAYMENT AFTER THEY TOLD US IT WAS JUST GOING TO BE 3 DOLLARS MORE. AND THIS ISNT THE ONLY TIME THAY DID SOMETHING LIKE THIS. I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. I moved to my new place had another cable Co. Tried to keep same phone #. I couldn't and told I had to sign up for directive. Its a pain to move,that's how I got duped. Meet neighbors & they have Comcast & dish. Also the person who lived here left his Comcast box& remote. Company said to.well they put up my dish on roof between my driveway covering and bedroom. Drilled hills in roof,so every rain it leaks bad. Ruined my intire window,wall& phone Jack. Called,they said pay to have it fixed and submit a bill. First why me.Second the Guy who came out wasn't in a direct TV truck. Just a white van. Took almost 3 hours.one of my children recognized his helper from old neighborhood. Doesn't even work. The dish is to be mounted on sidig aroun roof. . Not on top.we have HD TVs& only one TV gets HD and is charged$10.plus &r6. I could go on & on. Its to expensive. I'm waiting for the 2years up and dropping for good. Going to use the rabbit ear antenna/ with box I have.Also second time they came out to upgrade 1 box to HD. The guys weren't from directtv again. Did a sloppy job. And wouldn't take old dish off house. Said that wasn't there job. Excuse me. I can't get up there . There hire out gangsters.

Holes on my walls, satellite dish in my yard, 8.5 hours of customer service that has the ability to do absolutely nothing, can't get a damage claim filled because they transferred me to fraud, billing, tech support, a supervisor in another state and they have my $$. It's too long to explain how I got here but please if you read this, DON'T subscribe to this insanity.

Their customer service sucks i have been paying my bill by money order because i have a choice.And i sent my bill as i always do to a post office box in atlanta 7 days before the due date and this time the directv says they can't locate the payment.I spoke with a manager and he acted as if it was my fault for sending a certified money order from the post office.So they had me to fax a copy of my money order to their financial dept.while they research the location of the money order so in the meantime they say it can take up to 10 business days to locate.I ask since you had me to fax you proof of payment can you turn my cable back on and they would not so i have been without cable going on 3 days now.Am like the other customer said i wouldn't refer know one to these un professional clowns.

I called DTV on 6/5/12. After 30 mins talking to "Chris". I was given at least 3 confirmation #'s and was told a tech would be calling me "in a couple of days" to install service! On 6/7/12, I rec'd a voice mail telling me that the installation would be on 6/8/12 from 9a-1p. I work for the VA so I don't have time to take off for this antiquated nonsense. But I put in an extra vacation day for this install anyway. I was home in a completely silent apt. from the evening of 6/7/12 all the way to 5pm on 6/8/12. During that time, I missed a call from the tech at 11:01am. My ringer was set on vibe, which is how I program it for work - so this isn't the tech's fault. However, that dumb bastard walked up 3 flights and NEVER knocked on my door. He hung a door tag stating he'd come by at 11:05 am. 4 mins after his call! But didn't knock once!!! I called his direct cell @ 11/:17am and he blew me off and said he was out of the area. I asked why he hadn't knocked and he stuttered and claimed he did. BS! My door is hollow metal and the sound can be heard throughout my small apt. He didn't knock... I called DTV cust. svc and cancelled. I told them that they were scam artists and that they did this type of thing in order to drum up more fees for 2nd visits. I demanded my card be credited the $99 deposit they'd taken from my acct. on the 6th. They said, pretty flippantly that they would (Joel). I have yet to see the reversed charge. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE? Thanks. BTW, I immediately contacted the Dish Network ppl that same Fri. I had complete, professional & informative service by Monday, the 11th!!! The cust svc agent told me on Fri that the driver would call before his arrival w/ an exact ETA. Sure enough, he called @ 1pm (svc due from noon-5pm) and said he'd be @ my apt. at 3pm and he'd call again when he was in the parking

Other than the cost going up steadily (what service doesn't today, i have no compllaints with the service i received from directtv. problems were delt with quickly and properely. level of service my depend on where you live more than corporate attitude. my issue is that i moved into an area where "triple play" option was available and could get all 3 for almost $100/month less than i was paying before so i discontinued my service. when i got my final bill, i was owed a credit. when i called customer service in whatever contry it resides, i wss told over and over that no refunds are issued for less than $100. i know that if i owed directv the money and refused to pay it, i would be hearing from a collection agency and have bad credit showing on my credit rating. they were very capable of taking the money out of my checking account every month, but somehow unable to put what they owe me back in. i know this is possible regardless of what they tell me. after 15 years of good service (including, for the most part, during storms), i am sorry to part company with a bad taste for directv.
