I left DirectTV. They charged too much for basic and if I at least could have added one other channel I would still be using their service. I received a bill for "No Payment Due" and later a check for $2.94 refund. Two weeks later I received a bill from their "Collections" dept for $38.81. This was after returning their equipment and their access cards for that equipment. The access cards revealed charges from 7/22/2005 thru Sept 2005. That is seven years ago. Neither of us were aware of these charges. The customer service rep or should I say "Corporate Self-serving Rep" could not tell us what the items were. Their claim is someone disconnected the phone line after ordering the "Pay-for-view" and that's why it never showed up on the bill for us. They were willing to forgive $25.00 if we reverted back to their HORRIFIC SERVICE. Everyone should beware of DirectTV's practices and contracts. They don't have a clue of what customer service is about. This will be paid in full only to avoid involving credit bureau stupidity. Equifax and others blindly take information from companies and the companies can refuse to remove screw ups and the bureaus' won't do a thing about it.
I went to sam's and they promised me a price that included taxes and everything and that is not what I have to pay. And if I want to cancel I have to pay cancellation fees.... I talked to at least 8 different people and none of them even tried to look further into it. No one has been able to help me and they gave me the po box of the legal department (they don't even have a phone number) to get access to the recording that was made when we signed up. Unless I get a lawyer my hands are tied. But I will, it's not even about the money because it's only 5 dollars difference or so, but I official hate direct tv now... Their customer service is outrageous!
I signed up for DirecTV last year and was told I had a discounted rate for two years. Now the company is telling me the discounts/rebates were only good for a year and my bill has doubled. They lied to me! And it couldn't have come at a worse time as I am facing breast cancer and will not have much of an income after my surgery in September. DirecTV should be ashamed of themself, along with all of the companies in this country who rape/lie (to) consumers every day about their need to raise prices because their costs have gone up. I believe that most companies in this country, especially the big ones lie to consumers everyday. How is it possible that companies need to raise prices because their costs have gone up, but then each year these same companies post record profits and no one does anything about it? I will tell you why. It is called the 'dumbing down' of consumers and the American public. Companies create stupid, mindless TV shows, movies, sports competition, apps, etc that we all get 'hooked'on and then we are so consumed with this garbage that we aren't paying attention to what is really important. Really think about it. What is more important, which bachelor is chosen, or your future and your children and grandchildren's future and the future of our country? I mean really! I am a college instructor and I love teaching and working with my students, but they are so unaware of what the really important issues are, and/or just don't want to take the time to do what is necessary to make the changes, to stand up for reform. They are all so busy on their phones texting someone they just saw, or on Facebook on their computers. Two 'services' we Americans have come to believe are absolutely vital to our existence, when all that happens is this mind set created by companies who have all the wealth, just keeps us distracted from what is really going on in this country. Yes, I am an aging hippie, but at least our generation stood up for what we believed in. Many of the positive changes in our culture/society is due to the 'baby boomers' fighting for what we believed was right. No matter what side you were on during the recent Chik-fil-A situation, the actions displayed by the consumers who supported the resturant showed the power and the influence people have in numbers and when they take the time to show their support for what they believe is right. No fighting, no injuries, no chaos, money talks to companies who want their profits to continue to rise higher and higher. Imagine what would happen if just 25% of DirecTV's 30,000,000 customers chose a specific day to call in and cancel and/or complain (about) their services? Those 750,000 customers sure would make an impact without doing anything but picking up their phones and making a call. Think about it. DircTV shame on you.

I have had trouble with to dvr's that they sent me The third 1 that they sent me is working fine And when I call to connect that box They told me to keep the old box Then they charge me for it And I refuse to take it to charge of my bill Until they get ther old box back Now I cannot pay my bill because it is so expensive I am sick and tired of talking to managers I would like to talk to somebody in charge Somebody that can take this charge of my bill so I won't be charged a late fee You guys told me to keep the box And then you charge me for the nfl package I didn't even agree to To anybody that is thinking about getting directv do not do it
direct tv took 386.00 from my checking account without permission!!! they just charged my account? how i dont know they logged into my account without permission and did idenity theft fraud and took my money !! i got 5 kids and you guys toook my money with out asking. i stopped paying direct tv because my family is going through a finacial hardship and they said okay . a month later they charge my account!!!! WHAT THE FUDGE !!!! who does shit like that . how dare you direct tv!!! i cant believe this. you guys better give me my HARD EARNED MONEY BACK !!!

Worse service ever! They cancelled my installation based on the fact that my deceased brother in law had an old account at my service address. When I told them I had nothing to do with his account, they told me to provide a death certificate by mail so they can charge off his account! How rude and I told them so. Then didn't want to give me a refund of my money, but THEY cancelled the installation. I am on a writing campaign to their corporate office and I wouldn't refer anyone to Direct TV if my own life depended on it.

as for everyone else i have hade trouble too... they get (0) stars!!!!!!!!!!!! have had service for seven years plus. in the past when they cared::: i recived the best service i ever had..sooo...now.. have a problem. called them to get it fixed.. after an hour they put me to be stupid as hell and told me i was under a contract....what?? after 7 years...and still under contract...well they told me i would be charged for a service call. equipment if needed and so on. i talked to a supervisor and was made feel even worse..she was a snikering lil girl that her and her friends in the background thought my isue was funny..then told me if i wanted it fixed to call home office...well...tried that....still same problem...still not fixed...well mad as hell and still fighting this issue i figured i would share it with yall...oww did i say that i recorded all the calls to dtv and now i have posted them to utube for yall...if they cant fix it i will continue to call them and record it for you and post it for you on utube...look it up under (dtv crap).so far i have 64 post and calling them every day scence the problem...and recording them all...i think all of dtv workers are rude. lieing. judgemental. and really just dont care..i guess that is what you get from a million daller company with minimum wage paid employees....SHIT! dad was wright, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
If I could give ZERO stars, that is what Direct TV would get! Cancelled after 10 years of service because we were tired of always being charged for every little thing when new customers get the benefit of all the deals. Called in March 2012 and was told that we could cancel service AFTER May 15, 2012 and not incur the early cancellation fee of $120. Called to cancel today, JULY 31, 2012 and was told we will paying the $120 fee!!!!! Customer Service Rep would NOT allow us to speak with a supervisor or even give us another number to reach a live person that doesn't read from a script. Instead, she typed up an email to send to quality control. How about listening to the phone call from March 2012 and hear the rep say we could cancel AFTER May 15, 2012...after all, all calls are recorded for quality assurance!!!!!

Wow! - after five years I find out I have been paying for HD w/DTV - yet I only have one HD box..and 1 simple cable box...so I bought a new TV - lets get what I have been paying for - sold on DVR - only 19.99 to install - no change in billing...oh, yes there is a charge of $8 a month - so just having the HD box installed tomorrow. I gave them my CC # - and now I find out I have a 24 month contract??? - and read the riot act by an off shore servicer..with an attitude...I felt like I was the one who was running off with DTV boxes...so now I have to have a contract - after five years and have a cc # on the acct. - which I never had before...and never missed a payment....what a violation of business ethics....and no one to talk to..yes, I went ballistic...I did nothing to deserve this treatment..I should not have to have a 24 month contract, nor a cc# on my account..oh and the best part...if I shjould cancel for any reason (why would I do that) I will have to pay $20 month for the # of months left on the 24 month contract...a valued customer alright...
Have had several major issues with diect tv from start of contract they work with you quite well until you are no longer able to cancel service without paying the early termination fees. I am currently out of contract and have had a tech out about a week ago. I went to my office a few days after the service call and decided im gonna relax and watch tv in my office well whatever he did knocked my service out completely the box says searching for signal. So I called and according to direct tv my bill is past due 2 days and they will not send anyone back out. Wow really 2 days and well shit it worked before the tech screwed it up. I called again and they still refuse to send anyone out to do the repairs so guess what here I am waiting for Verizon to come install fios. I just called today and they are already sending someone out to do the tv fios lines wow now thats service! I already have internet and phone through verizon so why not tv too. I also get a great deal at $89 a month for phone, tv and internet! Cant beat that my direct tv bill alone was over $100!!! So to direct tv shitheads you can kiss my ass!!!!!
On 7/26/12 @7:21am I call Directv because some shows that I had recorded were going when I was trying to watch my tv screen went totally black for approx. 15sec, so I checked all of the shows that I recorded and it was the same thing. My tv was ok it was Directv. The tech came by on 7/27/12 and did a quickie by rebooting the receiver (which by the way I had already done)and told me that in 24hrs after down loading everything should be ok or maybe NOT, but to call. Then he left and no sooner then he was out of the complex and error message popped up on the screen I had to call him because I did NOT know what to do (he was on his way to his next client)he told me what to do over the phone and then the FIT HIT THE SHAM. He could NOT come back. Then I noticed that I could not record any shows because I was getting a message that there were shows that were being taped and I checked an NOTHING was being taped, then I was having trouble with the REMOTE, by this time I was TICKED so I had to call their tech center. To my amazement it was a 30 minute wait and this told me a whole lot, because since I have been with Directv I had NEVER had to wait. I knew that there must have been a lot of complaints since the upgrade. Well when I finally got a chance to speak with someone and tried to explain to them they were trying to tell me to REBOOT and I told them that this was NOT going to work and the person had to bring in the big guns. After ALL of the help from the big guns of trying to get a work order done properly, since it was NOT closed I was to have someone come out on 7/28/12 and it was then EVERYTHING WENT DOWN HILL FROM THERE. I was told the local office MUST CALL ME BEFORE 5:00pm since it was only 3:00pm and I was to let the head office CASE MGT know and I did and guess what? You got it, I was promised that since things did NOT work out on 7/27/12 then they would have some come out in a couple of days (now mind you it is FRIDAY.) I told them that this was unfair, because I now have no TV and an NOT privy like them to have more then one tv. I found out that one of the TUNERS WENT OUT which caused me NOT to have anything to watch. I was told that they would be out on 7/28/12 to fix it, well guess what it is 7/28/12 and since there was NO WORK ORDER (which I had been told the origional work order was still open) that I now have to wait until 7/29/12 to have someone come. Again I told them that this WAS NOT MY FAULT and this leaves me in a bad prediament no TV for another day they did not care and copped an attitude. This is fine with me because I live in a senior community which DOES NOT LIKE DIRECTV, one reason is because the community was set up for COMCAST and a few of us did NOT LIKE COMCAST due to BAIT AND SWITCH AND HIGHER PRICES ONCE YOU DID A CONTRACT WITH THEM. On7/26/12 I had to have DIRECTV come out because of basically them same problem and it was funny to see the maintance many running after the truck he was suppose to stop DIRECTV from putting in any more satellites. They have to go to the office and talk it over with management and also the resident who ordered DIRECTV. Apparently there is to be NO MORE SATELLITES, when mgt found out the tech was going to someone who already was a customer they let him go. No I am NOT a favorite for instigating more satellites being it DISH OR DIRECTV (I had DISH b 4 and I was literally cussed out and told by Dish that if I was unhappy to take my******** ********* ********* elsewhere and I did just that)also I tell mgt off when I catch them in a lie or any wrong doings. So I am going for this time only (with mgt) going to eat humble pie and see about abolishing ALL DISHES. I have a feeling after I was told that DIRECTV is going to show up on 7/29/12 which is a Sunday they NEVER even bothered to tell me at what time when I told them that I now have to wait longer with no TV and that just because I live in a senior community I DON'T PLAY BINGO and that I don't like what they did and are doing to me I will go AT&T she said do you want me to cancel I said NO then she hung up on me when I was trying to find out what time. DIRECTV is wasting their time do a review when they really don't care what anyone thinks, they just are interested in M-O-N-E-Y. They should care because they could be like COMCAST, COMCAST didn't care and now they do because they want ALL of us to come back. I guess when you are one of the big boys you don't want to believe that if one leaves many more will do the same thing and you could lose M-O-N-E-Y or they don't care because for everyone that leaves 100 will sign up. I have been PROMISED so many times that someone is going to do something and they NEVER FOLLOW THROUGH and then they get angry when you tell them basically go jump into a river. DIRECTV IS NOT GOING TO SHOW UP ON 7/29/12 SO I WILL JUST MOVE ON. ONCE BURNED TWICE SHY. IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE TV AND SOMEONE LIKE DIRECTV BREAKS A PROMISE TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT IS CAUSE BY THEIR EQUIPMENT AND THEY DON'T AND KEEPS BREAKING THIS IS NOT GOOD. Ok I just read the comments and I do see that there are many problems that DIRECTV is doing just like our NINK-IN-POOP government and politicians. IT IS CALLED PLAUSABLE DENIALS. I am going totry to cancell my account with DIRECTV, because they know there is a problem and are NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS WAS WHY SO MANY OF US IN THE SENIOR COMMUNITY CANCELLED with COMCAST, because COMCAST did what DIRECTV is doing and that was to offer you alot OF CHANNELS and then they were able to do some kind of survey and find out which channels were being watched alot and the prices started to go up. Personally I don't see why in the name of ZEUS anyone would want 300-500 channels when you can only just watch so many. These companies COMCAST, DISH, DIRECTV and I bet AT&T know that in some communities you live in you CANNOT EVEN GET LOCAL channels without their help so they are ALL DOING A BERNIE MADOFF on each and everyone of us and raking in the money. Like I said they don't realize that EVENTUALLY their GREEDY, ARROGANT, SELF-SERVING, CONTROLLING, ACTIONS are going to come back and bite them in their ASSETS. They also know that with the economy being so bad that they can act like USED CAR SALESMAN take take every penny they can get from WE THE PEOPLE OF BROKE AMERICA. we are new customers this month and we signed up for two years contract with nfl sunday ticket and after two weeks we found out we don't have a nfl sunday ticket. we called back and they told us we are not eligible for it and just gave us the sports package which THEY SAID is the same and we can watch.NFL sunday ticket there too and all other sports. and NOW that nfl season is coming up, we found out again that we can't watch the NFL in the sports package that they gave us. they are just keep on tricking us. this is craP! we are new customers for just 2 weeks and we got a bunch of problem already. CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE ! nothing was resolved. and we are stuck with the 2 year contract! we should not have any problems with this because we did our part when they told us what to do. all they could say is WE ARE SORRY. WE UNDERSTAND. WE WILL JUST ESCALATE UR PROBLEM TO A DIFFERENT DEP'T. like today when I called them, I called the customer service to tell them our problem but was transferred to the international dep't because they said they are the ones to help us... BUT international dep't told us that they will escalate the problem to the customer service and they are ones that will be able to help us!!! that's total bullshit!!!! im wondering if there is another department that we can complain too.
One star is generous. I have been a Directv customer for over 5 yrs and referred a few people. I have been pleased until this past month, it has been a nightmare. I made a payment over the phone, obtained a confirmation number and have proof it cleared my checking account. Direct says that they cannot find the payment, I am not sure what good a confirmation number is. I was told to fax my checking statement and information to them and they would investigate and not disrupt my service while this was being checked. Well, in a matter of days my service was shut off. Every time I call I get an automated message to make payment and no other options are available. I finally get another number where I get a live person, but not much help. The supervisor questions me as if this was MY fault. He claims they never received my fax (despite my fax confirmation), claims unless I make payment they cannot help me. I am not paying double when I made payment already. I wait and refax the bank statement as directed and call back in a few days, giving them time to look into this. I make another call and get the same story, they have no record of either fax and unless I make payment they cannot help me. They ask that I wait 2 more days to see if they can resolve the problem. I receive a phone call the next day from a rep stating she received the fax but they are the commercial accounts dept and she cannot help me and does not know where I should fax my information. Direct prides themselves on customer service, but I am at a loss. They lost my payment, they cannot find my faxes, I have proof of payment and a confirmation number yet they seem clueless. If they cannot tell me who to call or fax within their own company how and I to know? I am ready to look at another provider and encourage those that I have referred to do the same. It seems that Direct is so big that their own staff do not know who to call or what dept fixes what. I am not paying a second payment because this is NOT my fault, I did everything as requested by Direct, yet they still say this is my responsibility. I watched the CEO on undercover boss and really thought he was committed to his staff and customers, but there is much work to be done within his company. I run a business and I certainly do not treat my customers this way. I guess Directv is a multi-million dollar company willing to lose customers over $109. It appears they feel they can afford to lose customers.
This company took 804 dollar for my checking account without my knowledge or my permission then when they realize they IT was wrong they could not replace it it but the try to make other arrangement I ended up losing my place of living because it was my rent money they took I had three kids I still hurting to this day from what they done this company is not good I just watch it on tv undercover boss checking just 1 or 2 peoples is not enough there are customers that really need to be reach out to plus they did not give us what they promise always raising prices David white need to find me about my 804 dollar plus it was my boy friend account not mind I use my account to help pay for it that why they had no right to take my money pbrown69341@yahoo.com
BEWARE OF BUNDLING PACKAGES THAT INCLUDE DIRECTV! I got a bundle with AT&T phone/internet and Directv. I haven't had any problems with the AT&T portion of the bundle. When you sign up for the bundle you are told the total price will be, for example: $98.99 a month for everything. I have had to call Directv numerous times because the billing amount was not correct. The first thing they do is try to pass you off on to AT&T when the problem is specifically with Directv. The first 2 months I was able to complain and get the bill lowered to what it's supposed to be. This month they over-charged me $42.00. Now they are telling me that I'm not getting the bundle rate because I didn't go on-line and submit a rebate! If they had told me that in order to get the special bundle rate I will need to apply for the discount I would have understood, although, it's ridiculous to have to do that in the first place. Now they told me I have to go on-line and submit the rebate but it will not go into effect for 4 to 6 weeks!! So, I will have to pay the extra $42 again next month. This is a great example of misrepresentation.
