Advanced Auto cannot in good faith sell Spartan Engines with a "Full 3 year warranty" when the warranty only covers up to $600 maximum. I need a new engine after only a few months and they are going to cover 1/3 of the cost "IF" they find manufacuter defect. Truthfully this is no warranty at all? I have written a letter to the manager of Spartan Engines (Richelle Beckel in the Texas office)requesting they reconsider and stand behind their product in the spirit of the implied warranty. The wording of the warranty explicitely says $600 maximum for repairs but does not specify a complete replacement. The 2 are completely different. Repairs take hours whereas a replacement takes 18 hours. After investiging online I have found that Spartan Engines rarely pays for the labor. They fault installation for the problem and do not pay for installation of the engine. I feel terribly jilted that I now have to pay additional thousands to have this new engine installed. I will make sure that people in my area know not to use Advance to buy engines and the way I have been completely misled. It is unfortunate because I truly do not think the employees at advance knew about the lack of warranty when they told me it had a "Complete 3 year warranty" when they sold it to me. How can you justify the blaring discrepancy between the words "Complete" and maximum $600? Have you had your car repaired lately? I am extremely disappointed in Advance auto for participating in this type of warranty agreement. I know I should have read the fine print but someone at Advance auto needs to do their homework and be up front with customers. As for me, unless this gets resolved, I am no longer a customer.

I went to the advanced auto in Greenville, SC off laurens road and had the worse service I've ever had in my life. I went in to order parts for my car. I told her I had a manual transmission and apparently she ordered automatic parts for my car. Once my mechanic started working on my car it took him longer than usual. The next day my car leaked transmission fluid out until there wasn't any left. My mechanic took my part back and got a new part. (wrong part again) My mechanic then realized and researched the part to find out we had the wrong part twice. We went up there 3 times. The GM told me he would cover one of the parts on the house because of the neglagence of his employees. I tried to go get my money back and was told NO. They gave me a quart of oil and a coupon. I will NEVER again shop at advance auto. The manager yelled at me on the phone and got an attitude. I had the worse customer service and I've passed the word along to not shop at advanced auto parts. I will NEVER EVER shop here again. I will go back up to the store when the GM is working and bring my mechanic to attempt to get a refund. If not I'll get an attorney involved.

HI! Well, to start off, Advance Auto Parts applications are mostly done ONLINE now. So if you wanted to make sure they got it, then do it on there. The store manager isn't the only one who has access to the "desk" area. So if it'd gotten lost, then chalk it up to a hard disorganized week. ( LIKE I SAID, DO IT ONLINE!) If you are that hard up for cash, then why are you only applying at 1 place, you should have 10-20 other apps out there. I find it stupid IF you only applied at 1 place, then you came on here to complain that you don't like them just because they lost it... Seriously? Secondly, The backround check usually comes in within a week, but there have been times when it takes 2 weeks. Your information gets sent to HR in the main office( that person receive thousands a day), They have to then transfer it to the 3 companies that do workplace backround check. Then the hr person has to wait till he gets 3 different emails from the 3 different places, and they all have to say" no redflags" then they send an email back to the GM of the store saying "NO REDFLAGS " It's out of that store's hands, because they are frustrated with waiting too. If they are looking to hire someone, it's because they actually NEED someone. Workers become a little unhappy when they can't take a lunch because there is no one to cover for them during certain hours. Plus, Clients get testy when you can't deliver parts because company policy states that there must be 2 people in the store at all times and one has to be a manager. Well if you have a slot where only 2 people are working and no one can run the parts... it sucks. When it comes to the backround checks, they only come back with a yes or no.. it doesn't tell the store who, what, where, why, or when. It's literally an e-mail memo, with your name, and when the GM opens it it'll say one line: " Blah blah's criminal back round report didn't come back with any red flag, we can hire them at this time" People are so quick to blame the store and the service and everything else. You go there to buy an auto part, they input your make and model, up pops a part number, they get it, ring you up, and you leave. THEY DIDN'T INSTALL it! So by reason of deduction, it was either A) the fault of the installer B) the part itself was faulty. The parts come from the warehouse of whatever company is on the label of the box! When it comes to the store, they do not go through the hundreds or thousands of pieces that where delivered to check for quality. IT'S NOT THEIR JOB! They don't open the boxes when they come off the truck, it goes directly to shelf! They too, just have to have faith that every pieces quality is the same and the last 100 they sold. So in conclusion, if you have a problem with a part, call the store to ask if it's something that they can do, if not can you have to number of the MANUFACTURER (or find it on the freaking box, or go online and look it up). The person who sold you the part tells you if there is any MANUFACTURERS warranties ( the warranty not through advance auto), don't be afraid to inquire more about the warranty that comes with the part. Shoot, ask them to open up the box and show you, or have them circle where it actually says there is a warranty. They then usually offer for you to purchase and additional one through advance which will hold them accountable. Ounce of prevention,will prevent a pound of heartache, and you'll never be wrong. There problem solved, you have no one to blame but yourself.

I went to Advanced Auto in Alpharetta, GA 30009 on Highway 9. I waited at the counter for my turn and asked for help to check my wife battery on 6/11/12. I asked them to check the battery and the charging system. The manager went out and check the battery and said it needed charging I charged it over night. I also asked for the battery posts to be cleaned but no one helped. I asked the manager where the help was and they handed me a battery brush. I cleaned the posts myself but no one offered an apology or anything I then took it to my Automotive repair shop and was charged $20 to tell me my wife's Suv. This should have been done by Advanced Auto. I would rate the service I got at 0 stars but the lowest I can give is one star. I will not waste my time going back to this store for anything.

I went to the Advanced Auto on Clinton Hwy in Knoxville, TN. I was driving home when the check engine light came on so I pulled into the nearest auto parts store to investigate. Seeing no obvious signs of leakage, loose wires/connections, hoses were all hooked up correctly, etc...I decided to go in and see if they could test my vehicle with their handheld tester. I was told by an associate that he would do it and if I gave him a minute, he would be ready. Now I realistically didn't expect a 1 mintue time limit so patiently waited and 15 minutes went by. I asked another associate where was he(Rich) was at. I was told he stepped out and would be back. The 2 other workers were crackin jokes behind the counter and not interested in helping other customers. After waiting 40 minutes and receiving no help from the other associates, I left. Needless to say, I went to AutoZone and didn't have any issues plus found out the info I wanted. It's no wonder Advanced Auto is in financial trouble, they can't get the basics right when it comes to handling customers. Last I checked, they are needed to provide revenue so Advanced Auto can pay their bills.

I was an empolyee of advance auto parts in Brevard NC. 3 mouths ago i trun in my GM for thinking he is holyer than everyone in the store. he found out that i turn him in and cuss me like salor and then shows everyone wiht respect i work there a year and when its was mine turn to get keys he pushes the new hires in frount of me yeah that mite know a little bit more about lawn mowers and farm equitment but last i herd advance auto was a car and truck shop not a lawn and garden center any how he comt. to show me wiht disrespect and dishonor how i work one day he was good the nest he was all over i butt. to everyone whom read this dont shop at advance auto parts that rude show disrested to everyone but there buds and dont give a crap about there employees

As an advance auto parts employee, i sincerely apologize for rude employees you all have dealt with. If anyone ever needs anything from us in or around la plata maryland, i will give you the best possible service i could.

Got filter and fluid for 2003 Hyundai Tiburon 4 speed automatic transmission from Advance Auto Parts store #8128, Franklinton, N.C.. Wrong filter so they replaced it with another wrong filter. After extensive dismantling & removal of cover/pan, discovered there was no filter!! Called Hyundai dealership next AM and was told there was no serviceable filter on the 2003 Tiburon 4 speed automatic. Filed complaint via e-mail, got THE BIG OL' RUNAROUND followed up with problem status: SOLVED. Upon questioning by e-mail again, MORE OF THE OL' RUNAROUND (Set me up an account????) along with problem status: SOLVED. Of course there hasn't been a solution YET. Then, got e-mail from Advance Auto claiming not to be Advance Auto and wanted my rating of the issue; I will not be doing business with them further and will be telling everyone about my disgust! Independent garage owner/ out of over 7 hours labor....

I CANNOT BELIEVE 5 STARS, ADVANCED AUTO PARTS IS THE WORST. THESE 4 STARS MUST BE RATED BY FRIENDS, WHO ARE PAID OR EMPLOYEES, OR THOSE PAKISTANIS WHO ANSWER THE PHONE, I WILL NEVER PRESS ONE FOR ENGLISH, THER EIS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ADVANCED, NO ONE POLITE, NO ONE REPLIES, THEY ARE RUDE AND HATEFUL, AN OBVIOUS SIGN OF TROUBLE IN COMPANY,, THERE IS NO REASON FOR 5 S TARS, MANY REASON FOR LIES,

I am so frustrated with the Advance Auto Parts store #5800 in Chester, SC. I have been there several time in the past month because my battery keeps dying. I just purchased this red top $200 battery n Jan 2011. They have tried 2 tell me that there is something in my vehicle that is killing the battery but my vehicle has been thoroughly checked out & this is not the case. After the store has repeatedly done overnight slow charges it still will only work for one day. Finally today they agreed to replace the battery which is something they refused to do the other times before. Well low and behold, there is no record of my battery purchase nor my 3yr free replacement warranty. I am pissed to the highest of pisstivity. Its amazing how my information disappeared on the day they decide to replace it and now they think Im going to buy another battery at $200. I think NOT!!!!!!! Justice will be served & I will NEVER MAKE ANOTHER PURCHASE FROM ADVANCE AUTO PARTS.

I purchased a life time warranty radiator for my 1995 Tahoe. One year later its leaking. With my labor I return it. 13 months later the new one is leaking. With my labor again I return it only to be told the warranty is only for one replacement. I had also purchased a new lifetime warranty water pump only to have start leaking 3 years after I replaced it. I, MY SON and MY NEIGHBOR NOW NO LONGER SHOP AT ANY ADVANCE AUTO PARTS STORE because of these problems.

WORST PLACE EVER TO CALL TO GET HELP... CAN A REAL PERSON HELP ME .. STOP TRANSFERING ME TO PEOPLE THAT DON'T EXSIST.

I bought a transmission from you all had it installed and was told I had a 3 year warranty. Within 3000 miles the first oil change it went bad and I had to have it replaced. I went straight to the store and started proceedings for a new transmission. I then was given a phone number to call to deal with the transmission manufacturer. They in turn told me they would not pay to have the transmission replaced but up to 90$ and that I only received a 1 year warranty because it was a manual transmission. Since that time I have talked to many people in managerial position from advance and pro-king. They agreed on Advance paying half of the installation fee and me (fronting) the other half, until pro king received the transmission and inspected it. When the transmission was taken out the shop that replaced it even kept the fluids out of it and it was completely silver due to METAL SHAVINGS, definitely defective. It has been almost a month ago that they received the transmission, now they are saying that it is all settled. I am a returning customer with a small self employed business and this is completely unacceptable. I am tired of getting the runaround on this matter. I should never of had to deal with the MANUFACTURER in the first place when the parts where bought at your store. On top of that I was told I had a 3 year warranty when I purchased it; which was a major factor in me PURCHASING it in the FIRST PLACE. I am a loyal customer and just completely rebuilt the motor in this vehicle and replaced everything under it with parts from your store. Not counting all the many other vehicles I fixed with parts from your store.

advance auto is a joke ive been going to the store on west Thames street in Norwich ct now 4 5 years. i purchase 2grand a year in parts. i went there 2 weeks ago to buy a gas cap and have my check engine light removed...usually i give anyone 1 my drivers license for exchange for their comp. on that day i was told they don't do that anymore cuz someone stole their comp.. the guy said i can go out there and read it for you. i said no i need the code removed the cashier said, "ooh sorry we cant do that anymore were not mechanics well get a fine." well you guys have been clearing codes ever since the obd2 came out.. what now i have to take my car to a vw dealer and pay 100 bucks to have a stupid code cleared.. i dont think so advance auto is losing soo much business just because of all the idiots they hire...so in the end i ended up fighting with the manager and he finally took my license and i went and cleared the code myself..advance auto in norwich closes @ 9 and the one in groton closes @ 8 kinda messed up all franchises should be open and closed at the same time.. the guy came out side and was like were closed nd i was frustrated and started to yell well the employee came outta the store and was trying to make a physical altercation... what kinda idiots does this company have working for them????

I was in a Advance Auto Parts store today 05/14/12, the store is located on Madison street in Muncie Indiana. I was standing at a counter waiting on service and I heard the manager her name was Beverly it was on her shirt tell another employee that she was not to assist costumers, she was yelling at her in front of everyone. I thought this was very rude seeing that the employee was only trying to assist waiting costumers. This manager stopped assisting costumers herself to yell at this employee. I have decided to never return to this store ever again.

Another customer complaint is not going to change anything, but I was in your store in Richland, Ms. this morning between 10:30 and 11:00 and was invisable to your staff at this store. My purchase would not have made the fortune 500 for you, but it would have paid part of the wages of one of your employees. We have at least 2 other simalar business in Richland and from now on they get my business.

in smithfield nc the manager allows fratnization and does nothing about it also allows female and male employees to do wht ever they want to each other and does nothing i have seen it and heard employees doing it not even key holders are doing anything about it so next step is lawyer and police to get involved and maybe then corprate office will return calls and get ride of the employees there are none of the management or keyholders doing anything about it even had one say need camera to prove it so telling me there cameras dont work hmm bet thats a suprise aint it

same situation called manager and dm several times here in nc getting blew off with fratnazation going on in a store and manager allowing it my wife works there and the male employees are saying things like u know u want it cause its black and manager is blowing it off so i guess attorney and cops will be in volved next since stores in nc allow this and so do the managers and keyholders of the stores thanks for nothing nc advance auto

FIRST OF ALL I CAN NOT BELEIVE ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS, I AM GLAD I SHOP AT ADVANCE STORES THAT GO THE EXTRA MILE, I AM FROM MOBILE ALABAMA, BUT HAD TO BE IN JACKSONVILLE AT AN HOSPITAL TAKING TEST AND PROCEDURES, MY HUSBAND WAS ONLY ABLE TO BE WITH ME FOR A FEW DAYS, SO I WAS BY MYSELF PRETTY MUCH THE WHOLE TIME, BUT MY ALTERNATOR WENT OUT ON MY TRUCK, THE FIRST TIME WE WENT TO ADVANCE, LOOK AS IF THE CABLE WAS JUST LOSE, WE TIGHTEN CABLES, THAT SEEM TO HELP, BUT A FEW DAYS LATER THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, SO I WENT TO ANOTHER CAR PLACE, THEY TESTED AND SAID IT THE ALTERNATOR, BUT WITH ALL THE MONEY WE HAD SPENT ON MEDICAL ISSUES, I COULD NOT PAY THE MONEY THET WANTED, SO I WENT BACK TO ADVANCE, THANK GOD, I GOT MARCUS AND THAT CREW WORKING WITH HIM THAT DAY, THEY RE-CHECK THIS TIME, SOLD ME THE ALTERNATOR, AND WENT THE EXTRA MILE TO GET A PERSON TO PUT IT ON FOR ME FOR LESS THE PRICE, NOT KNOWING ANYONE THERE IN THAT CITY, IT WAS ENOUGH STRESS GOING IN AND OUT OF THE HOSPITAL, SO GLAD THEY WAS THERE FOR ME, THEY WENT THE EXTRA MILE...
