I have been wanting to write this statement for sometime now, because I can't take it another miniutes. My husband and I brought a ring from Zales several years ago. I really don't know how to explain this, but I think there is a stereo of some type with this ring and black women. When buying the ring I though it was beautiful. In the years that I have had this ring, I have come around in Baltimore, Maryland alone at least 25 or more black women that are wearing the same ring in either white or yellow gold. I didn't want to think anything at first, but more and more black women I notice are wearing this ring. I was at work and a co-worker said, my mother has that same ring and also another relative. This is it! Not only that, but I was in North Carolina and I came across black women there that are wearing this ring. I believe that there is something wrong. That we were sterotyped and cohearsed into buying these rings. I don't see it as anything else. I am very upset by this, because you can't tell me that everyone of us had the same affordability when purchasing a ring. In my church alone in Baltimore there are five or six women that are wearing this ring that was purchase I believe from Zales in the White Marsh or Towson Town Center Malls in the Baltimore Maryland area. I am ready to see if there is anything I can do to get something going about this. This is not right.

to the person who was told that your ring was loose, that's a line. I have heard that same story! Zales has a lot to be desired. I'm being lead to do something. I need to know how to start. They have sterotyped black women to a particular ring and I convinced.

It would seem that in todays world the only thing that seperates companies in todays world is customer service, so im mistified as to how this company still has its ratings. I purchased a ring for my wife for christmas. Shame on me for not taking a close look at it before giving it to her. When she opened it she saw it was missing a stone. Step 1 called custmer service and was told the fastest way to get it replaced was to return it and reorder it. They said they could not just swap the ring without a return, credit, and then reorder. That was a new one for me. Then they said we could speed it up if we took the ring back to a store so we wouldnt need to wait for shipping. Step 2 take the ring to the store. Never have me or my wife been treated so rude. We were a bother to them and then told that they could not return it because they did not know how but they would send it out to be fixed. We left it at that but then the longer the wife thought about it the madder she got. Step 3 called customer service next day and spoke with supervisor who told us he could help us only if we purchased a protection plan. Really? Without the plan he couldnt help us at all. Step 4 called custmer support again and was told to go get the ring from the store and they would EMAIL me the return mailer so we wouldnt have to wait on snal mail. Step 5 called customer support before going to the store to insure the ring was still there and told it was and then asked why we didnt have the store return it. We replied they did not know how and was told to just have the store call them and they would walk them through it. Step 6 went to store, told they didnt know how to do return, asked them to call, gave them number. Comment was "my god this will take forever". I find it strange that such a comment would be made when they were suppose to already know how. But then the rudness and steller customer service seems to be a standard. step 7 reorder ring. This is a give me right. But no of course not. Cant get the ring for the same price, no we wont overnight it. Finally got the ring for correct price but only if they charge an extra 100.00 and then refund it back when it gets shipped. OMG so now you want to tie up extra money for a bad ring. Finially after waiting on phone and not taking no for an answer they agreed to give me the ring for only 2.00 more then i paid. You know at this point ill take it. Still havent seen the ring yet, hope to see it soon. I can assure you that i will try never to shop at zales again.

I wish there was a zero star rating. First they gave me a defective ring which I had to bring in three different times for repairs. Finally they admitted it was their fault and had a new ring remade specifically for me. Same story as above.... they told me it would be ready in three weeks however it was not ready for four months. I called customer service so many times I can't even count. Each time no one knew what I was talking about or had some type of excuse. This process lasted over one years time. I got to wear my ring only three months out of that year. Finally I got my new ring back and hadn't had problems for quite sometime until The other day I noticed the gold was mis colored and looked at my paperwork. When they replaced that ring they replaced it with a different ring that was not gold. I am so upset I can't even put it really into words. My fiancé is going to confront the store manager tomorrow and call the corporate office. I have bought jewelry at Shane company and Kay jewelers and have never had an issue with either of those companies. I highly suggest going somewhere other than zales unless all you want are headaches.

I had ordered a ring on 11/28 expecting to have it by my girlfriends birthday on 12/21. Considering that they told me it would only take up to 3 weeks I felt like I was in good shape. Well needless to say I was totally wrong. I called upwards of a dozen times only to get the run around for every person supervisor and manager. No one was able to give me a straight answer and to be honest no one seemed to care if they did or not. They sent the ring I ordered out to a special jeweler to be mad but apparently had no way of contacting them over the phone. So they deal with a company that they apparently cannot speak to, only though emails which they never respond to. After all the arguing it didn't show up for my girlfriends birthday. So I gave her her Xmas present and figured I'd give the ring for Xmas. No problem right? Well I called and asked for the ring to be overnighted. The response that they gave me was no problem. So two days before Christmas I get a email saying it was shipped. Finally relieved after all the stressed I looked and that promise of overnight shipping was no where to be found. So now instead of a ring for xmas my girlfriend got a picture of a ring. This company has the absolute worst customer service i have ever experienced. I was told I would get call backs on at least 3 occasions and that never happened. The only call backs was me calling them back. Ohh and just to make this all right they gave me 10% off my next order. I literally laughed in the mans face because I would never deal with this company again. Stay away from Zales!!!!

I have been nice to this point with customer service, but here we are, Christmas eve, and the item has not arrived. I ordered a necklace from themon 11/25/11. Almost a month ago. I ordered with plenty of time before Christmas and was told it would arrive in 5-10 days. I have been calling almost daily since 12/9 and keep getting told they are contacting their jeweler for a status. I was told this multiple times and that their jeweler hadn't responded yet. Late last week, I was told the jeweler responded and it would be here by Christmas. I have been told multiple times I would get a call back and never did. I always had to call them. What kind of place are they running? I thought Zales was the jeweler. At least to me they are, their being the middle man is not my problem. They have lowsy customer service, they lie to get you off the phone, and can't deliver even when ordered a month ahead of time. I would not buy another thing from this company. They have ruined my Christmas and from the looks of it, many others. How a company like this stays in business just amazes me and of course, there is nothing us consumers can do other than complain. I will be posting my story everywhere I can, facebook, this site and any others I can find like it. The only way to put companies like this out of business is to make sure others do not buy from them any more. I will make it my personal crusade to ensure they pay the price for their absolutely horrible way of treating customers. I will be contacting the BBB, the attorney general and any one else who might listen. This is complete BS and one person on my list for Christmas will now have to get a note stating I am sorry, I will get you something next week. How freaking embarassing!

I've read many, many of the complaints on this wall and I feel badly for everyone that was mistreated by their Zales stores. However, my story is a good one. I have been doing business with my local Zales store (Alexandria Mall, Louisiana) for years and have only good things to say about them. The store manager there is a wonderful, kind man that has always given me top notch customer service. My husband purchased a sapphire and diamond ring for me for Christmas years ago from this store, recently the center stone fell out and was lost. I was so saddened by this and did not know what to do. I just assumed I would have to pay to have the stone replaced. I waited months before bringing the ring in for repairs and to my surprise, when I finally brought it in, he replaced the whole ring for me, on the spot! I was so grateful for this. Another instance where I have been satisfied with this store just happened recently. I purchased a beautiful 1 5/8 carat diamond wedding ring for my 10 year wedding anniversary over 6 months ago. This is my dream wedding ring and I love it dearly. I bring it in to be cleaned and inspected every time I go to the Mall. The last time I brought it in, the manager informed me my center stone was loose and could fall out at any time. When asked if I had purchased the Lifetime warranty, I told him I had not purchased it yet. Even though I had no warranty to cover repairs, he still sent the ring off to be fixed, free of charge. I received my ring in a weeks time and it was good as new and had also been repolished and free of all the little scratches it had received from wear. I love this store and the manager there. I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones to have a person that loves their job and knows how to treat customers.

On November 6th I brought in my four wedding rings for their annual twice a year service & maintance. I handed over my rings to the female manager located at the Spokane Valley Mall and requisted that three be soldered together to make one set and I am willing to pay for the maintance. She took the papers I have on all of the rings and signed them. The next day, I contacted Zales to double check that they were doing what I requested. I recieved a call back, at first they mention they couldn't locate the fourth ring, then they stated I never dropped off the fourth ring and that I only gave them three rings. My granddaughter (12 years old) even saw me remove all four rings from my finger and hand all four over to the woman. All I ask is my 1/2 caret to be found and return back to me or be re-place with no charge to me. The women still insisted that I never dropped my fourth ring off to them. I recomend that if you ever leave any jewelry with these people that you make sure you have someone else with you, and that you keep all of your documentations of the transaction.

My fiance bought my engagement ring at Zales. I noticed when I would wear it I would hear a rattle sound. I brought it to the store to have them look at it because I only had the ring a month and a half. The sales woman was so rude telling me she didn't hear anything and that I was just being paranoid and over worried. She poked the diamond with a plastic ruler and said "see its not loose." Not please with her attitude and how she checked the ring I went across the mall to another jeweler and like a professional, he examined the ring, shook it, and with tools checked the ring and said "go right back to Zales the diamond is loose." When I went back to the store the woman, still with an attitude, laughed and said, "still not convinced?" I replied, "no, I had another jeweler look at it and he told me that it was infact loose." Her response was "well, then he must have done it." She checked the ring and came back to me and said its loose the other jeweler made it loose. I told her how from the first day I put it on I heard rattling and he did not do it. Needless to say I had to leave the ring to get fixed. Well a month later I look at the ring and a small diamond on the band of the ring is missing. Once again I go back to Zales. This sales woman was nicer. she examined the ring and confirmed the missing stone and also a loose prong holding the main diamond. I expressed how I have had this ring for only 2 1/2 months and already I have had a loose stone, bent prong and missing diamond. She said she would order me a replacement. When she sized my finger she commented about when my fiance got the ring sized did he have any problems. I told her that he bought the ring the very same day and never sent it out to get sized. The woman told me that the ring was a 5 1/2 and they only carry size 7 on display and that he had to have sent it out to be sized. I confirmed with my fiance and told her that it was bought the very same day and it was never sized...she became very indignant and said that he must be mistaken (I think he would remember not leaving the store with a ring). Well, 2 weeks have past and I still don't have my ring. I called the store yesterday and the woman said she will call me back and she never did. I have had it with Zales and wish he never bought my ring from there. MY ADVISE IS ANYONE BUYING AN ENGAGEMENT RING...DO NOT GET AN ENGAGEMENT RING OR WEDDING RING FROM ZALES....NOT UNLESS YOU WANT A BUNCH OF HEADACHES AND RUDE SALES PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE!!!!!!

Zales does not honor the warranties on the jewelry or repair work. When you need to talk to a manager there is not one to be found in the store. I was told " your 90 days are up" for any repair work, which is funny because I have no where on any receipt where it states the work is only guaranteed for 90 days. I was told platinum will last for 75 years. What a big scam. It didn't last 3 months. I have bought 4 wedding sets from Zales upgrading each time. I will no longer go to a mall Jewelry store like Zales to purchase my next set or to have repair work done. I've had enough lies from a company that is apparently ready to close it's doors.

My fiancé bought me a ring in 2009 I took it into zales to have the prongs built up on the dimonds we get the ring back And I had industral grade diamonds put back into my ring randomly and then I looked at the diamonds on the inside of my band and one of those were replaced. I took into zales and showed them my ring and they said it was dirty so I took the ring to 3 different jewlers and they informed me that the diamonds were not consistent with the other diamonds. We got in touch with corporate they exchanged the ring for another one and now with my new ring it has been in the repair shop 8 times within the past 3 months I just got my ring back a week ago and my diamond is so lose that it needs to go back. I told the store that this was crazy and they said that I could trade it in and lose my carart weight which is 1 1/4 or I could exchange it for the same ring but lose the quality of the ring I have now. I'm not into writing reviews but this is crazy! I just got off the phone with customer service and well after being hung up on and then being on hold for 30 mins zales really needs to look in the dictionary do they would know what the definition of customer service means!! I have NEVER had this kind of problems before and I'm too the point to where I'm going to let my attorney handle this for me

I bought a watch at Zales, Mall of America about 8 years ago and take it in for new batteries every couple years. Usually I don't have any problems, but this last time was a different story. When I brought it in to have the battery replaced they charged me $100 and told me it would take 2 weeks because they had to send it out. They would call me when it was in. Four weeks later I had not heard from them so I called and asked about it. The sales person I talked to could not find any record of it and said she would have a manager call me the next day. I wondered how it could be so hard to find my transaction on the computer. I waited a few days without my call being returned so I called again. And again, they couldn't find a record of my watch and said someone would call me back. I waited a few more days without my call being returned and decided to make a personal appearance at the store. I went in and the manager was in a meeting in another part of the mall. The sales person could not find any info on my watch, of course, and said the manager would be back shortly and I could shop around the mall and wait for his call when he returned. I shopped for an hour without my call being returned for the third time and went back to find the manager hanging out at the store. He said that the watchmaker had recommended some other maintenance on my watch and that a sales person was supposed to call me for permission, which they never did, so the watchmaker was waiting to hear back. He apologized for the customer service and told me it would be another 2 weeks and $75 and I told them to go ahead and do it. Another 5 weeks went by (that's 10 weeks total) and I hadn't heard from them so I called again. They still couldn't find my info on their computer and there wasn't a manager in the store and someone would call me back. Well, consistency prevailed and nobody called me back. I called again and expressed my displeasure with the sales person. He said he would figure it out and call me within the hour. Two hours went by and I called back, fuming. The guy who said he would call me had stepped out and the lady said she couldn't help, but would have him call me back as soon as he got back in. I was very angry now and told her I was skeptical about getting a call and that they were 0 for 5 in returning my calls, meaning they told me 5 times now they would call me back and I had never received a call. She apologized and said he would definitely call me. He called 15 minutes later and said he would get my watch back to the store in 2 days. They called 5 days later to tell me my watch was in. I went in to pick it up and the battery had been replaced but the other maintenance was never done. I assume they never called the watchmaker to give him the permission to do it after I went in the first time. I asked the manager to fully refund my $100 for the battery and he said he could only do a 50% refund. He seemed very cocky and weasely, making me feel like he could have given me a full refund, he just didn't want to. I will never go back there and will make sure all of my friends, family, coworkers and acquaintances don't either.

My fiance had purchased me a beautiful engagement ring from a Zales and within my first week of wearing it two stones fell out. I was so upset that something with so much sentimental value had started to fall apart so quickly. My fiance and I discussed it and decided that it would be best to return the merchandise and purchase a ring elsewhere. To our surprise the store manager told us that we could not return it because it had been worn (This mind you is not stated anywhere in the return policy). We fit every criteria mentioned in the return policy that we had been made aware of. We had to argue to have them take back the ring at all. Once they decided to take it back they said that my fiance would not only have to wait a month for them to fix the ring before he would be refunded but he also was not going to be refunded for the $400 protection plan (once again this is not stated anywhere in the return policy). When we asked the manager to show us where in all of our paperwork this was all stated to the customer she was not able to show us. She told us that "it's just how they handle these things" how will any customer know what they can and cannot do if it is not stated anywhere on the paperwork shown. Our experience with Zales was the worst experience I have ever had. We purchased another ring from a different store and will never be returning to a Zales again. If you have the choice do not put yourself through this mess it is clearly not worth your money or your time.

I recieved my ring october 2006 and have had 2 diamonds fallen out and repaired and yesterday I noticed the main big 1 carat diamond was missing and fell out somewhere I take it to store today and the associate cannot help me because there is nothing in the compute that it has been maintained I have taken it in religiously every 6 months and and super upset they wont fix ring I could stangle somebody. Really wish they were not such jerks and hornored their warranty

I just bought a ring from zales 2 weeks ago.. last night my gf sucked it up in the vaccum.. after call the store i bought it from 2 times i finally got to talk to the manager at the store.. one i started telling her the story she start to treat me like S***!! she basically told me that there was nothing that they could do about it. and i dont feel like that is right i paid money for a lifetime warrenty and that should cover everything.. if this doesnt get takin care of i will never buy anything for there again.. this place is a joke and a waste of a bunch of money.. i recomend going some where else to buy your stuff not here..

Wow! I am so glad that I read all of these complaints! I was thinking of going to Zales to buy a ring as a birthday present but I guess I better go to Jared's! In two words "Zales Sucks"!

I was in the Mccaine mall in little rock ,Arkansas, returning an engagement ring. My intention was to give them the ring and pick another with some added cash and get a much nicer one. I was treated so badly , I was told they were not gonna return the ring, and the young lady then walked away from my fiance and i and just left us at the counter for over ten minutes ignoring us. I finally ran into a district mngr who informed them that were gonna return the ring. Now the young lady says well the system is down so just come another day!!! I drove an hour and a half to get here i wasnt leaving and coming back!!! so we then had to leave this location a and go to the zales outlet store.... after 4 1/2 hours of agony they finally credited my account. I had an outstanding order for a necklace,as you can imagine i canceled that order. ive been shopping with zales 15 years and after this the company will never see another dollar from me!!!!!

It actually needs to be 0 stars for the rating. This is the worst company we've ever dealt with. The appraisal was supposed to be ready in a week but it took a month and a half to get it back.I hope they didn't switch the two carrot diamond with cubic zirconia. At this point it's hard to be sure. Then, my 12,000 dollar diamond solitaire plus two wedding bands with diamonds were fused together so it would be one ring.Which was beautiful. So, we had the set appraised again at Zales for all three rings instead of just the solitaire, against our better judgement. Then we waited forever to get it back. They told us if we ever needed a copy, they would have one on file. Now, my ring has been stolen, so we go to Zales where we bought them and had them appraised.Guess what? They can't find the jeweler that they used to do the appraisal and it was just done in December of 2010.It's only been six months.Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.If I kept records like that for the company I work for I'd be fired but guess what? They say it's not their responsibility to look out for their customers and that they are not liable. What a bunch of crap!!

We would never ever use Zales again!!

I bought my ring 12/12/91,we were married 25 years then, recently i lost the diamond i took the ring every 6 months for inspection bought extra insurance for the gold prongs, and now they will not repace the diamond(cause it was damaged and not by normal wear) WHAT is NORMAL, i opened a clost door and it was gone, how else do you open a door except with your hands, be very careful their warranty is NO GOOD, what is normal wera, all i get from their employees is them reading word for word off the pamphlet that i have infront of me, i can read,we saved along time to get this ring and i took care of it for 20 years why would i not be careful, this ring meant alot to me.
