Was trying to pickup one of the "beauty steals". The "benefit powderflage" was on sale 50% off. I called thetwo closestbUlta stores (each about 20 miles away) the day before the one day sale. They said they can't hold any specials, but if I get there early when they open I'd get one. DeNai told me they didn't have it on the floor yet, but would have it in the morning. Drove twenty miles to find out they didn't get any in. Needed powder so paid full rice for the Bare Minerals. They should have substituted some comparable brand. Called cust service and they said it was the manufacturer's fault . If that's true they shouldn't deal with that manufacturer. I won't deal with a "Bait and Switch" company. They should take care of there customers. Sephora is right across the street, It's s shame because their workers are pretty good. It's corporate that needs to get their act together.
Madison, Ohio Salon very poor untrained employees and managers.
I have been getting my hair done at Ulta for the past year by the same hair dresser and I am very happy with him. The thing that disturbed me and other customers in the store was a 9 year old arabic girl. Her father had left her there alone to have a straightening treatment done to her hair. This little girl cried and sobbed the whole time they were pulling and straightening her hair, she had tons of very kinky long hair. The hair dressers said she had been there 5 hours! At one point there were 3 techs working on her hair and one happened to be a man, I heard them tell him to stop because her dad was on his way...apparently he doesn't want men touching his daughters hair. I think what was being done to this 9 year old was definitly a form of torture instructed to be done by her father...This is America! We don't torture our children. I think Ulta should have some kind of guidelines, like if a child is under 13 a parent should be present, especially when a treatment like that is being preformed. That poor child was so upset. I felt like I had to say something, from what I heard, this was the 3rd time that she has been in for the same treatment. I hope Ulta will look into this and make some changes to their policies. If I have to witness something like this again I will definitly have to take my business elsewhere.
Brighton, Mi New DM is so unprofessional and people are scared every day to go to work. GM has no back bone and doesn't want to have her own problems. Maybe if she came out of the office, she might interact with employees. 4 people are actively looking and feel that there job is threatened, walk on egg shells. I called the hotline and nothing happened except it got worst. So ashamed to work for this company, I might as well go to walmart. HR came to the store once but it was clear what that agenda was about. The other DM and LP manager for the areas have also had it out with Shelli. Not sure what else to do. Stuck until we find jobs. Too bad.
I recently shopped at your new location in Charleston WV and I purchased some ULTA cosmetics, although I am not very familiar with your products I thought I would give them a try. For my purchase I was rewarded with your 13 piece gift bag and was excited, however when I got home and checked out the gift bag I saw that all of the samples were made in CHINA I threw it all in the trash. Do you really think that people would use cosmetics from there knowing what we do about how they have contaminated almost everything they have manufactured really you expect us to put these products on our eyes and lips there is no way that I would put your products anywhere on my face I am disgusted that you company would take the risk of supplying them to anyone. I will never purchase your products again.
i've worked for ulta for almost 4 years and i've shopped in several different stores arond the country, and after reading some of these comments, i'm afraid i'll be forever baffled at the stupidity of customers!!!! yes there are some rude employees, but read this and see how you customers make us feel. i constantly deal with idiot customers wanting to bring back, oh, say some shampoo, when i ask why they tell me they didn't like it. oh really? Why is the bottle empty if you hated it so much? and yes you need your receipt, it says so on the receipt and on the signs right at the register where you check out. i deal with lots of "why do you have this advertised if you don't have it in stock?" well ma'am, we cant print new sale ads every time we run out of a product, maybe you should have dragged your lazy ass off the couch BEFORE the LAST DAY OF THE SALE! i hate when people come to check out and tell me "this comes with a free gift" bitch i know, i work here. more than that i hate when people ask me for "free samples" its not a sample, its a gift with purchase; meaning you BUY something, you'll get the gift. and your certainly not getting any if you're being a bitch. i give free gifts to kind, patient and polite people all the time, but if you're gonna act like an asshole, i'll tell you there are no free gifts, even if one comes with your purchase. and i'm convinced none of the customers can read either. yes your hairsrpay is on sale for a good deal, yes its a popular brand, no you cannot buy 50. why you ask? uh...cuz the sign, and the ad say LIMIT 4 PER CUSTOMER. no you cannot use your 3.50 off coupon on your $5 item. why you ask? cuz it says 3.50 off $10 OR MORE. and every coupon says that every time! i mean really can ya'll seriously not read? why is it so hard to understand? and why do you try to argue with me about it? it is not my fault you cannot read. i'm sorry for your stupidity. i do alot of the shipment at ulta and it never fails to amaze me when i'm in uniform, putting out shipment, and someone asks me "do you work here?" seriously? i mean do you have no common sense? i very obviously here. and if i tell someone "ma'am we're in the process of getting our shipment out, we can let you know tomorrow if we received your product" 9 out of 10 times they'll ask me, "well can't you just open the boxes til you find it?" sure, why not, clearly i have nothing better to do. and this last comment goes to all customers checking out at any store, restaurant, drive thru window: GET OFF YOUR FUCKING CELLPHONE AND TALK TO ME LIKE A PERSON. i see all these comments about "the employees ignored me" "no one helped me" "the cashiers were talking amongst each other while checking me out and didn't look at me". practice what you preach, do not ignore cashiers, most of us are polite and are going to try to have a conversation with you, even if it's just for one minute, ignoring us like we don't matter is just plain rude

In red and put and X on the form whete it said that she advice on my hair getting fried!,I ask the manager for a coy..she never did I ask her to do something about it and they sold me a Redken protein product! I ask for she to do something anout it and they chope off my hair as a solution! Now I have short and a fried burn daage hair. They the coorporate/ isurance company suossed to call me with a solution to this and is going to be almost two weeks and I have' t heard fro them. They also send you promotions and when you go they charge more stadig that their staylist is a Senior staylist etc I extremily upset and I dont know what to do, zI cry because I cant go out or work for what they did to y hair. I WILL GET IN TOUCH WITH THE CEO!!!!! OF THIS ULTA COMPAY, THEY RUI MY LIFE
I worked here at Ulta & the employees are HORRIBLE. The employees were rude and not helpful, at all. The girls they hired on and kept over the hard workers had their tails up in the air & they told me I was hired on full-time & then told me temporary AFTER stocking there store. The gossip that goes on between employees is horrible! Extremely judgement. & they still have not mailed me my paycheck after I quit, and this was 3 weeks ago!! If you don't want gossiped about & if you don't want to feel belittled then do NOT go to the Charleston Ulta in WV. You'd be better off at Macy's. Same make-up, friendlier employees .
I agree with kira's assessment of ULTA. my first time visit of this store in columbia sc was a complete nightmare. i too ran into a supposedly merchandise coordinator who initially said that she was manager when i asked for one to complain about her ill behavior and lack of professionalism.I will never set foot in that store for the balance of my natural born life. She even had the nerve to put her hand on her hip in a defensive mode as she spoke to me(i'm old enough to be her grandmother).Personnel like her will ruin that store's reputation and run it out of business. as kira stated in her review and i agree- this young saleslady is in need of some serious customer service training.
Sugar Land, TX store: Service here is non-existent every time I go and they never have what I need in stock. Tonight I decided to give them one last try. I walked in and surprise, surprise, once again they didn't have the item I needed in stock. I couldn't find anyone to help me, so I went to the cashier and asked if she was the only one working. She said it was just her and the manager. I told her I needed some help and she got on her microphone and asked the manager to come out and help me. I waited several minutes, but the manager never came. I walked out. I went down the street to Sephora, where they had my item in stock AND they greeted me when I walked in, which is something that never happens at Ulta. That was Ulta's last chance with me and they once again failed miserably!
It is sad to see all the negative reviews on this site because ulta is a great company!Every business makes mistakes, so for people that say they will never shop at ulta and instead go to sephora haha goodluck! Sephora is a totally different atmosphere that caters to the wealthy so if you do not appear to be wealthy you will most likely be ignored. It makes me laugh when people say they are going to go to another store because ulta never has stock. ITS WHILE SUPPLIES LAST! IF YOU COME IN AND THEY DONT HAVE STOCK ITS BECAUSE YOU WERE TOO LAZY TO ARRIVE EARLY SO EVERYONE GOT THEIR BEFORE YOU! When i go to ulta i always find everything I need :) But every store runs out of stock, it happens! So if you arrive and they dont have the product you need maybe you need to change your shopping habits! Every time I go to ulta the employees are pleasant and very helpful! Ulta is my favorite place to buy cosmetics for sure!
Your brand new store in Ramsey NJ on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 2:00pm had one trained person on a register of 5 registers. Lovely store not ready for prime time, yet. Frustrating waits in line. Only 1 person trained to work the registers in the store a worker told me. 8 of us waited on line while she took returns and answered the phone. Good thing she didn't need a bathroom or lunch break. And as far as the worker, how DOES that work? What are you thinking? Not ready for us, for sure. No manager in sight just girls in black who couldn't answer questions and didn't look for the manager; I guess not trained well.
Please bring back the ulta minerals eye shadows. I got so many compliments on it and I told everyone where to get them. This was the best eye shadow I have seen for years. Please bring it back!!! I have now had to go to another store to find another eye shadow and it does not compare to Ulta minerals.
I visited the salon where I lived in Ga. to ask if they took walk-ins. I was told "yes they do, but I would have to pay $10.00 more for a haircut because only "master cutters" were in that day. I was told to come back around 1:00 for the appointment. I told my daughter that I felt better about making the appointment, because a "master cutter" was someone probably more experienced and knew what she was doing. WRONG!!! I took a picture in to show the "master cutter" how I wanted my hair cut. Needless to say that by the time she was done...it looked NOTHING like I wanted. I mentioned several times about how it was being cut, but was told not to worry it would look like the picture when done. The manager asked me how I liked it and I almost broke into tears. The original cutter was busy with another client so she had another hairdresser try to curl it with a curling iron, which didn't look too much better. I left and did not cause a scene, but believe me I will NEVER use their salon services again. I should have asked for my money back...all $45.00 of it for my "master haircut"!!!
I recently was thinking of applying for a position at the Ulta store in Manchester, CT. I started the online application process and to my dismay, it was as long and as scrutinous as one would fill out for the U.S. Government. The personal information and the "interview" questions were outrageous and quite frankly patronizing. I am well over 18 years old and have been in the beauty industry for over 27 years. Asking about gossiping at work, do I work hard or would rather take my time when performing a task, and the list went on, for 10+ pages! It is insulting to think these were pre-screening questions. What happened to the days when you could walk into an establishment, look someone in the eye and have a real conversation about your abilities and then judge me? Maybe its time for the HR dept. to re-evaluate their demeaning application process. After that process, this is definitely not a company I would want to be affiliated with; either as an employee or a consumer.
The store management in Augusta ME leaves a lot to be desired. They are rude to their workers in front of customers and feel the need to belittle their workers. One of the ''management'' even felt the need to argue with me over Too Faced and Urban Decay and was actually too stupid to understand what I was even saying! I believe her name is Stephanie and at most has a high school education and it shows. The girls that she feels the need to make feel inferior have the same amount of education as she has and she wants to feel so much better, when in reality, these high school kids have it all over her. Headquarters really needs to send ''moles'' in there to see just how poorly this place is managed. Another example........I went in to Prestige to ask some questions about a product, however the sales clerk was sitting on the floor doing her nails, when finished she then went mirror to mirror applying makeup, then sat down again on floor and took off polish and then reapplied a different color polish. NEVER once asked if she could help me. I was there over 30 mins waiting for someone to inquire if I could use some help.Again, Miss lack of management skills, Stephanie, never approached her to do her job or at least try to look like she was working. I already heard another manager drop the f bomb because she was counting something and the phone rang. Honestly, don't these idiots realize that we see and hear what they say and do. I will never go back after seeing the treatmentof co workers and the lack of intelligence in the so called management. I will say that I did see a girl named Katie working and she was quite pleasant and helpful, so Augusta does have one good employee in management that I did get to observe.Headquarters...............do yourself a favor and clean house of some of these people. There are too many people looking for a job and would be glad to do their work and at least act like a professional. I will either order online from Sephora or if I want to continue with Ulta, I will use it when in S Portland. I'm actually afraid that if I observe the behavior I did last time that I will call the manager out, see how she likes it. She is useless to your store, you deserve better.Oh,and the talking about customers when they leave the store leaves a lot to be desired....... also, again the stupidity of the management that you have right now, very very sad.Do they actually think that we other customers don't hear what they are saying??? I have actually shopped in this store at least ten times and there was always some negative impression made, so I will go where the employees are professional.I'm sad to say that I lasted this long, but I really liked the conveinence, that doesn't even matter anymore.
This store has the worst service, they are incompetent and when they inconvenience a customer they blame the customer and do nothing to rectify their mistakes. I will NEVER shop there again. I have only placed a few online orders with them and each time it's been a hassle and something has gone wrong on their end. This last time they screwed up my address so my local post office returned my package to them. I called Ulta immediately (as the package was still in transit to them) to ask them to re-ship the package and they refused. I had spent a lot of time shopping for the items I chose. The customer service rep said she would transfer me to the Corporate Office but instead I was transferred to a recording and had to navigate through their phone system only to speak with a rude Operator who transferred me to someone's voicemail that I am sure will never contact me because this company does not care! Their physical stores are staffed with unprofessional, inexperienced people as well. I hope they go out of business. Please everyone shop at Sephora, Beauty.com and Beautybar.com and don't support lousy companies like Ulta. Judging from all the negative reviews, I am not alone.
I went into the Ulta store in Mesa, AZ 1614 Signal Butte Rd. About a month ago I went into this store and the time I was in that store, I was follwed and felt like crap like I was someone who would steal something. I was very upset with this and I left. Today, 3/28/12 I went into this same store I went in to buy some shampoo and condition that I brought a month ago, it was not there, but from that point on when I was looking around I was followed and I was done with this treatment at this store, I went to the store manager who is named Marian she said she would talk to her staff.......oh really? I said I'm going to the corp office and I'm complaining about this. Really Ulta???? Is this really how you treat the customers?
I recently shopped at the Ulta location in Commack NY. Everyone working at the time was on point, from the makeup girls to the cashiers at checkout. I had the help of one of the managers there. She was a new manager, but was a great help to me in finding the right hair products for smoothing my hair. I love everything she suggested. She was so sincere with the help and genuinely wanted to help me find the right products for my hair, as her hair is long and smooth. She was great and will go far in the company along with the floor staff and cashier who were very plesant too. I also use my 20% off coupon on majority of my items and am very pleased with my shopping experience. I will recommend Ulta to everyone I know to be theyre choice in a womans beauty needs of all kinds. Excellent staff, great product knowledge, variety , and a clean organized store!
I am writing to make you aware of a gross lack of customer service and professionalism I experienced in your Roseville, CA Ulta store. On Thursday afternoon, September 13, 2012, I entered the store to purchase some hair accessories. The entire section of the store was a mess. I finally found what I was looking for in a disorganized bin of hair clips. But as I approached the register I was told by "Kacey" that three of the items I had were not available for purchase. I explained to Kacey that these elastic hair bands were displayed loosely in a bin with many other individual accessories. She then had me take her all the way back to the disorganized mess to show her where I found them. Upon seeing the bins, she said that the hair ties were not supposed to be displayed that way. She just stood there, offering no options. I then asked to talk to the manager. "Christina," the manager, was no help and was also very rude. She acted as if I had caused this mess. And after looking through the disorganized bins of hair accessories, she told me she could not sell me any and then turned away and proceeded cleaning out the three plastic bins. I stood there for several minutes, appalled by the bad attitudes. I still had my other items in hand ready to purchase and I waited for additional assistance at least with these other items. Finally, after being ignored, I walked back to the front registers and proceeded to wait in a very long line - again. While I was about half way through the line for the second time, Kacey returned from the back of the store and continued checking people out at the register. She noticed me in line, and instead of asking me to come to her register for prompt assistance, she chose to ignore me. I was finally able to complete the purchase of my remaining items. This employee apologized for Kacey and Christina. She explained that the store had just been through "inventory" but that it was still no excuse for the bad customer service. To sum up my experience, I left without the items I originally came to buy; and I vowed never to return to a store that was so obviously lacking in professional management. I am an international customer service representative for a jewelry business I co-founded. If I were to treat my customers with the same lack of respect I encountered at your Roseville Ulta store, I would be out of business in no time! I hope you take this complaint seriously and help the current staff become better at store organization and assisting customers.
