Current Employee
I started working at Sports Authority in Encinitas,CA. as a holiday employee in 2012. I moved back to my hometown in Michigan after the holidays. The store manager called the S.A. by my house to put in a good word for me. I've been working at this one since and have no complaints whatsoever about my time here. Being an athlete, working around all the cool sports gear is fun.
Online Update
To Whom it May Concern, I was trying to purchase items on the website and multiple items I was trying to purchase turned out to be out of stock, but was showing In-Stock. I thought maybe your web page was having difficulty after 25 minutes of my time, so I called the number located at the bottom to only find out they are out of stock and they have to update and it will take 2 hours to do so. Now I have to go to my local store and take a chance at finding these same items and sizes. Very disappointed and better off going to Dick's Sporting Goods.
Excellent and Truthful!!
Yesterday we had gone shoe shopping for my son who needed baseball cleats and track shoes. We had an employee Ramon that had spent a good 30 min. with us helping us out but we could not find the right sizes and styles. He told us that we could order on line to get the sizes we needed. The clerks up front were more than helpful and had checked on-line and several stores for us until we found the shoes! When we left my son realized that the $20.00 bill that he had brought with him was missing. About 30 minutes later we went back into the store where he was frantically looking for it and Ramon came up and asked us what we were looking for and Ramon handed the $20.00 bill right back to my son! What a great guy and employee you have working for you!!!!! We will definitely keep shopping at Sports Authority!!
Your employee, Jonas, at the Cumberland Mall store in Atlanta went above and beyond the call of duty to help me find a pair of shoes. His store was out but he found them at another store that was a long way from my area. On his own after we left he found them in a closer location in another color. This is one happy customer....thanks Jonas!
Lousy Management
I worked for Sports Authority for just over one year, during my time there the other associates are the only thing that I miss. The store manager is a real idiot. He does not have a clue as to what is going on in his own store. Corporate seems more concerned with getting people to sign up for there loyalty program and the replacement/extended warranty programs than they are about customer service. The cashiers are very overworked and must maintain a certain percentage of signups or they are threatened with losing there jobs. I will never work for this company again as management has no clue on how to treat there employees.
Bugs in box
I purchased a exercise bike .and after I assembled it I noticed that there were a bunch of dead bugs in box. Called the store and no resolution . Sports Authority should hire people that at least try to resolve the problem........
Poor Customer Service
I've been shopping at Sports Authority for a long time. I joined their "League" which is supposed to give you points for your purchases where you earn rewards. A few months after joining, I stopped getting the emails. Apparently if you earn the rewards you have to use them right away or they expire. I never knew I even had the rewards much less that they were expiring. They never notified me either way. I recently mentioned to a store clerk that i wasn't getting emails and 2 days later one arrives. This is how I knew I had earned rewards and that they had all expired. So I contact their customer service department. Lady says she'll check into it and get back to me in 3 days. A week later I had to call myself to find out that they aren't going to reissue the rewards and I lost them. What a terrible program, a terrible way to do business and VERY poor customer service. I won't be shopping there anymore and I'll certainly let everyone I know about how they do business.
Employees are theifs!
I forgot my phone in the fitting room while buying my toddler his baseball gear. After leaving the store and starting my vehicle, I realized I did not have my iPhone. I tracked it on my wife's iPhone and its location was inside sports authority. With ten minutes before closing time, I searched the fitting room and it was obviously cleaned out already since I had left several baseball pants in there. I showed the both managers that the location stated my phone was in here. Assuming a customer had it, my option was to wait untill closing hours 9:30pm. All the customers had left and they told me I had to leave as well. My phone location was turned off exactly at 10:04pm from inside the store. The only people inside the store at that time was all the employees. I talked to the store manager and explain that it was obvious an employee found it and turned it off. My phone did not die, it was on 95%battery. The store manager said she would advice all employees to turn in the cell phone if someone had it. The manager saw herself my location was inside. The only way the location was off was because one of the employee theifs found my phone and turned it off. The managers couldn't obviously do anything about it. I confronted all employees when leaving the store at 10:30pm. I told them I know one of them had it. They basically didn't give a sh**. Any iPhone is replaceable. The fact that I lost my 17year old sister to cancer and had my last memories in pictures on that phone, that's what's not irreplaceable. They definitely must be desperate to make some quick cash. If its that serious to steal a phone, get a better day job. I rate this store a zero. Karma is a B!tch!
TERRIBLE SERVICE
My husband and I went to Sports Authority on Wed., Feb. 27, 2013 around 11AM. He needed a new pair of shoes. We knew pretty much what we wanted. They run about $100. There were NO sales people on the floor to be seen. I went up to the cashier and she said the sales person for that dept. would be in at 12 and the only other people in were managers and they were too busy to come and help me. Some of these stores are upset that they are not doing well. It could be because they really don't care if they lose out on sales because no one is around to help customers. I would like to add that this store is located at Oakwood Mall in Hollywood, Florida and has not been open that long. They will be closing soon if the manager of this store doesn't get his act together.
poor servis
To whom it may consern my name is Kris lee my wife and I went to your stor with our tax returns to purchase over 900$ in merchandise but the imployess where too buzzy with there conversation to help use when were the only ones in the store at 8 pm at Lancaster mall in Salem OR. Bottom line just because of appearances dosnt mean we don't have $$ especialy this time of year..
Supermall Auburn wa
I just got into it with Mike, the manager at the Store in the Auburn Supermall. There was a skorts skirt my wife wanted. The clearance sign said $19.97 and below, price as marked. There were at least 8 skorts on the rack. I so happened to grab one that still had the original price at $38. When I took them to the cashier, along with $200 of additional merchandise. When scanned they came up $38. I explained the sign that said $19.97 or LOWER as well as he fact there were other similar skorts at the same price. Her response was, "they rang up $38, they are $38." I asked for a manager and got Mike, the manager on duty. His personality was more in tunes with that of a janitor, or someone who doesn't work with the public. He was rude, didn't listen, and code not explain the sign $19.97 or Lower, he focused on the Price as marked. To me, and I would imagine the majority of shoppers, his sign meant there may be prices lower than $19.97 and those would be marked. He was a major jerk, and I am being kind. Sports Authority, your unwillingness to hold true to your marked price and your apparent inability to hire competent employees in an economy where so many good people are out of work, lost you frequent shopper. I now understand completely a 2 star rating out of 5. Actually, I think that was generous.
Great customer service
I wanted to write a positive review. Your store in Longmont, Colorado has great customer service. I bought a coat in December on a visit and sales person Debbie was fantastic. We were treated fantastic by all your employees. Yeah, people need to be told the good and not always the bad
Rush
I was in desperate need of a baseball glove which made me go to Sports Authority to purchase one. The glove that i like and wanted to purchase was a size to small for my using. So i asked one of the employees if there was any way to order a bigger size. He took me to the front counter to order one online off the store website. I actually found one that i liked and wanted to purchase but only had cash instead of debit/credit card. The employee convinced me that i can purchase a gift card for the amount the glove was going to cost. For some reason the computer couldnt print a receipt for my purchase so the employee gave me a copy of the page that showed the balance of $0 and my gift card back. On the way home i got a call from the same employee saying that the order wasnt processed and it was going to take 2-3 days for the money to be credited back to the gift card. So i purchased a glove somewhere else. Now i have no need for the gift card since i was in a fast need of a new glove and now the manager says i cant get my money back from the gift card. That was my first and last time going to Sports Authority for anything..
Bad recommendation
My husband and I have been long time Sports Authority customers. We've trusted the workers expertise on running shoes to get recommendations. This last time has caused severe problems for my husband, leading him to go get his feet checked with specialist. Due to the fact that an employee of yours pushed for the most expensive pair of running shoes, my husband wore the inappropriate pair of shoes for 10 months. We take such good care of our feet, that we log the miles we use the shoes. We use them between 300-350 miles and buy a new pair. I am upset that for $30 my husband now has to live with discomfort.
RETURNS - BEEN 14 DAYS AND NO CREDIT HAS BEEN RECEIVED
I returned a few items on December 23 and as of today still have not received the credit back on my card. 7-10 business days have now turn into 14 BUSINESS DAYS, 20 days total. I have called multiple times throughout the last week and once I get off my 10 minute or so hold they try to push me off becuase it's the holidays. I'm currently on hold and my timer now says 7 minutes. My recomendation is to pay cash for your purchase or go to Dicks.
Rental
Houston at the ski and snowboard rental in Colorado Springs, Co Chapel Hills Dr. was very disrespectful and rude. Before coming into the store I called to ask what time the rental section of the store closed. He told me as long as I was there before 9 pm I could have everything taken care of. I arrived at 8:40 pm. Knowing he said to be there by 9pm. He then told me that they were closed and when I told him on the phone he said 9 he told me he was only putting bindings on the snowboards in the back and he couldn't help us. He SHOULD NOT have told me a time to arrive if he was not going to assist us. The section did not close till 9 pm and he had no right to close it early. I love Sports Authority and shop here all the time but now I think I will find somewhere nicer to shop with nicer people who would be glad to help me, especially when they are making money off of renting me items. He was RUDE and I will refrain from shopping there now. I also will be telling the co-workers and friends who shop there, of the rude behavior that comes from trying to get service. Thanks for nothing Houston.
You have decent prices but your staff sucks. No customer service skills at all. I was in the B raintree,MA store on 12/24/2012 looking for 3 pairs of Nike sneakers. The three employees working in the sneaker department would not turn around from their conversation to help anyone. When I did approach one employe to ask if they had a sneaker in stock, he didn't even look up from his phone. all he said was "nope". I will be going to Dick's Sporting Goods from now on.
Black Friday success!
Hello, My husband and I went to sports authority mission valley in san diego on black Friday at 12:30am. First of all it was way busier than I thought it would be. When we walked in there were three registers open and the lines for all three were pretty long. We were looking for a basketball hoop, fusball table and 2 ping pong tables for our youth group. We quickly realized there were only two people on the floor helping. Although it was crazy busy and there were only two employees on the floor they did everything they could to help us find the deals we wanted and the items we needed. Mike and Ricky were busy but totaly composed and helpful. They helped find our items, had them waiting for us at the register and helped us load our purhase (which turned out to be quite difficult) and joey at the register helped answer all our questions and even though there was a giant line he was polite and didn't rush us at all. Overall I seriously think this store was absolutely understaffed for black Friday but mike,Ricky and joey were awesome!!! Our kids at the youth group are going to be stoked to have these new games! Bullshit
i am extremely upset with Sports Authority. I was the first one in line on black friday. I was there at 9pm. I waited three hours to get the store bucks. Many employees walked past me, talked to me and even starred at me through the glass. They even came out multiple times to count us. I am so pissed that they came out 5 mins before they opened and stated that you have to be 18 to get the store bucks. I am only 17, and they looked at me and without even asking my aqge and stated very rudly"your not 18". Why couldnt they tell me that when they were talking to me 3 hours before. I am a regular customer at sports authority and because of their stupidty i will NEVER shop there agan. Get better employees Sports Authourity ones that are not rude and that would be nice enough to tell me i had to be 18 when they first saw me, instead of making me wait 3 hours for NOTHING! This was the sports authority on sawmill, and they will never get another one of my dollars, and if i were you i wouldnt spend money there either. YOUR SO STUPIED SPORTS AUTHORITY!
