i have read some of the statement's of people that had written how they were treated just being behind on payments a tad how rude and unprofessional those customer's were treated.My son worked for rent-a center for 2 year's, he was moved what they call ..credit..to handle account's that are over due.Due to the fact he did NOT handle customer's rude or tried to work with customer's so they would not loose their money invested in the merchandise, or figure out to downsize depending what it was ..customer's appriciated him so much for that and only wanted to deal with him , at his store location.Which annoyed his store manager cause on paper it showed at times the store to have to high of % of credit ( what they called accounts behind ) and my son was fired.This was also a employee that had a very good attendance record, would make delieveries on his own , even whole household full's.Was very well in sales but due to the fact , he was unable to be rude and crude to folks when they got behind on their accounts was fired.Rent a center will promote that they are a buisness that will work with customers but having a insight through my son's experience with them ...the public should not be fooled..for items they sale for 4 times the value they have very viscious habits.And as a employer a very high turn over rate.

The employees of the RAC in Columbia City Indiana stand right outside their door and smoke. Today there were FOUR of then puffing away. In Indiana you have be at least EIGHT feet away from a public entrance...they were not. Nothing like gagging on the smoke and seeing what looked like a group of degenerates puffing away without any concern for anyone else. Very UNPROFESSIONAL..I can only imagine renting from this same group of people.

I rented a bed frame from them. When it was delivered it was filthy and chewed up on the foot board. It was delivered witb no tools to put it together, and I had to clean it. A few months later I decieded that I did not want the frame anymore, so I called them to scheadule a pick up. On the day of pick up the store called me and asked if I would help remove the bed from my home. This is very unprofessional and unfair. I will NEVER rent another thing from this store or any rent way store ever again. You suck, and I will be making a phone call!!!! Pissed off in Sidney New York.

My agreement was 6 months, after that the laptop should have been paid off. Well, it's been 4 months and I apparently still owe $511.00 on a laptop which initially only cost $550. FOUR MONTHS and I was supposed to be finished in two more months, my money is obviously not being disbursed correctly. My credit score depends on this, but the mere fact that only $20 goes to my laptop and $100 a month go toward these pigs makes me sick! How in the world was this supposed to be paid off in 6 months then? I pay $140 every month and assumed the $40 were for the sake of interest and the rest for my computer, THAT is the only way my agreement of 6 months would have made sense. Well, instead they flipped it on me! I'm aggravated and they refuse to explain this shit hole they've thrown me in.

I purchased washing machine and a dryer friday around 11 oclock.. its monday evening now and i still havent received the stuff i paid for... the keep telling me the deliver from 2 pm to 6 pm and putting me off... i dont get it today i am going to get my money back from the MacAuther store here in Alexandria LA..

I have several things from Rent A Center. i was almost finished paying everything off and talked to the District manager to make a deal. he then called the store i had the account with and told them that my last payment would be 75 dollars and my account could be closed because i was so good at making my payments. they really arent a bad place, the price is alot but you're renting out a product so it should be expected.

I went to rent a center to get my tv back in pasadena ca i did not have a good time with them . Thay call me back for a payment today i said that i dont get paid today i get paid tusday .the person said that i have to pay today if not thay will close the acc out or pick up the tv bull .I not going for that not more rac that are not a good compeny .

Recently I tried too purchase items from Rent A Center with my Credit Card! They processed the Credit Card & found it to be Very accountable so they got their Money! I was given a day & time that they would Deliver the Furniture which was purchased a Month ago, yet they kept giving me the Run around about wait a half Hour Three hours went by & they never Showed! I therefore am canceling I can not be Held up for Hours on end without any type of results only Excuses & waiting especially since those items were purchased a month ago so what is the problem with ur system of Completion of Ur inventory control & Ur owning up to Ur on Time Delivery! I'll Never use Rent A Center again or Advise anyone else to do so,it is & was Very Foolish to me Especially when U already had Money in Ur Hand yet U cann't or didn't own up to being on Time with Ur Delivery as U stated! The upper Management Wonders why their Business is Folding due to so called economic conditions yet this wasn't One of them & I'll bet that there are Many many more just like this All Over America!!! POOR,POOR SERVICE that I'll Never Deal with Rent A Center again because I didn't Even get Any SERVICE at ALL ONLY EXCUSES & WAITING for NOTHING!!!

be careful found bed bugs in some of the furniture... we experience it, on our whirpool fridge....i read how many people got bugs in there clean homes....rent a center to much excuses....our fridge didnt even last two weeks...lol i have pics.. do your jobs right check your furniture before you resell....

my wife and i have been paying insurance to RCA for over a year which clearly states that if you get sick or loose your job it would pay up to six months of payment.Recently my wife was diagnosed with stage four cancer and became unable to work,and I had to take family medical leave without pay. Rca informed me that she would have to be getting unemployment in order for them to pay her bill .I think that is ridiculous.But i will not pay them for six months and will not alow them in my home to pick up any thing

I live in TN, my grandmother decided to rent a computer to start paying her bill's online where she's over 70 it's hard for her to get out' last week we payed a payment, the guy called and said it was going to be $50 some odd dollars, when we got there they looked it up and said that it was only going to be $30 some odd dollars, we paid it and not three days later they called and said that we hadn't paid the late fee so we needed to come back then it was another call saying we were behind and so on' the "BRISTOL" TN store is one of the worst places i've ever done business with and will "NEVER" do so again' SCAMMERS!!!!Taking advantage of the elderly' this company sould be boycotted!!!! and put out of business'

I live in Michigan and my friend is renting two computers from them,he is a little late on his payment and its been a living nightmare,not only the phone calls but the harassing ive asked them numerous times to STOP calling me or I will get in contact with my lawyer,but no this place still calls me even tho I am not the one renting,Today I got in contact with Corporate over this whole ordeal. I will never rent from them because they are over expensive and the workers are rude even the managers I was going to get something the day my buddy did but the whole way they went about dealing with him was horrible. He made his payment and everything and it took them 8 hours to get him his stuff,but thats the fun part they never actually came to him he called me to ask if I can go and pick the computers up. And the whole time the manager was just a complete ignorant prick. But good luck to the people that are not having the problem,and congrats on making your payments on time,but for those that cant make the payment on time maybe you shouldnt have the products to begin with,I mean come on they work with you and ask you whats the best day for you to pay on and which day do you get paid on? Ya know so really no matter what you shouldnt be late and if you are late just call them and tell them you are busy and you will get to them as soon as you can. -xero

OMG this place is such a rip off!! My daughter rented a tv and play station from these rip off artists. First off she would have paid 3 times what the equipment was worth. My daughter got behind on the payments and they came to our door 40 times looking for her. She was not there when she came as she worked during the day when they would come. Not one time did any one ever ask if they could take their equipment back. A year later I emailed them to come get their equipment as none of it was working any longer. No one ever came and got the equipment. A couple months later I disposed of it. almost 2 years later we receive a court date from the courts, they are suing her. I called and explained the situation and the exchange got a bit heated. I have emails to prove that I asked them to come get the stuff and when I told him that he said he was done talking and hung up saying... see you in court. WTH??

Never ever will I use RAC again!!!!! They are the worst, this is my first time renting doing business with them. Rented a laptop (which by they way they charge you double the amount for) it was then stolen from my home along with some other items. Had police report made and they told me that I am still responsible for paying for it since my house wasnt broken into that people that were staying here took it. Geez a theft is a theft no matter how you look at it!! Calls none stop from the store, the manager Chris from the Deland Store is a real Jerk they are very rude making threats to have me arrested and have felony charges against me because I didnt return the rental Item or make a payment. SO i called Corporate and am waiting on the District Manager to call me...So we will see if he is any better than his employee! Will never ever use them or refer anyone to them!

We rent from the store on Park in Plano. They apparently have a new manager who is very mean. We were a few days late for a payment(we ALWAYS make our payment, btw) and he told my husband that he is ridiculous and we can no longer pay over the phone b/c that is a privilege and we do not deserve it. The only reason I gave the store one star is b/c of Nancy who works there is very professional and nice. This new manager is guaranteed to drive away business. I have managed large retail stores for many years and cannot believe he spoke to my husband in that tone. Telling customers that they do not "deserve it" and telling them they are "ridiculous" is unacceptable. I take full responsibility for paying a bit late but this guy is on a hydro power kick.

from california.....dam RAC employees are so dumb, they act like they know what there doing.....it takes them a week to deliver appliances and or they make excuses that they have a busy schedule and all the trucks are park..lol... i received a fridge where i took a picture ...u wouldn't believed what was under the freezer cover.the fridge had dead bedbugs and roaches.....i took pictures to show them what there selling... so this is how people get there homes infested with bugs....

I agree that a class action suit should be filed against them.

First I would like to thank the customer service lady who helped me in resolving my issue this afternoon 9/6/12 @ 2:43pm, thank you!! However I have been a customer of rent-a-center for 15 years or better and have bought and payed off main items with this company. After the manager at the 32nd street store in muskogee oklahoma basicly called me a theif and a cheat and told me I stole a tv that will be returned in the next few days, I don't believe this is the attitude that needs to be taken by any buisness. And to threaten someone with embezzelment and having them arrested is not something I would hope your company would stand behind. And all those threats were made over less than 100.00. That is the deal that I made with a manager that is no longer at that store, I don't care what their computer shows, I don't have that contract. So in all I would hope that this company would make sure they have the correct person working as a manager in this store because this is not how management is supposed to act, I have been in a management position for over 10 years and there is no way I would let my employees act this way. After 15 years of only buying my furniture and electronics from rent-a-center it came to an end when they broke the aggreement that I had with a former mananger. My buisness will be done elsewhere so that I can be talked to with respect and not threatened.

We should sue them in a class action suit. More info to come
