Gentlemen: I just came back to work from visiting twice your PS office at 80 South Spruce Avenue in South San Francisco. I wanted to pay the monthly bill. The time return notice in the window stated 1:10PM assuming they were closed for lunch. I returned at 1:30 and the time return notice stated 2PM. The door was locked, but staff was inside. Through the windowpane, I attempted to explain this was the second time I had returned to make a payment. The female Manager identified herself, opened the door and stated "Can't you read what time we will be open? I am on break and not opening the door until then." She was extremely rude; would not listen to my explanation and shut the door in my face. Not good PR for your business or any business for that matter.

Started sevice 07/27/12 Paid the $1.00 fee Michael from Ontario office called my wife 08/28/12, said I now had 35.00 late fee and wanted one month rent today, and we were locked out of our unit. Read the contract, said late fee is not charged until 10 days, and need to pay fulls months rent $219.00 but will be leaving on the 30th. Explained this is the manager. contract says months payment is due 09/01/12. BUT HERE IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING! CALLED CORPORATE OFFICE SPOKE WITH MICHAEL SENT TO TO MICHELLES VOICE MAIL CALLED BACK SPOKE WITH TERRY (7090) SENT TO DIRECTORY. CALLED CORPORATE SPOKE WITH RENE, SENT TO ARIZONA CUSTOMER SERVICE SPOKE WITH JOSEPH (7099) SENT TO DEBRA'S VOICE MAIL. You cannot talk to anyone above customer service. They are aware of the reputation of Public Storage. I am in Nebraska, with my wife and kids (newborn baby) are still in California, I will be returning to California 08/28/12 in the p.m. It is unbeleivable what this company has done. My wife is so upset at the complete unprofessional attitude complete disreagard for thier own contract, and the way they appear to hold your belongings hostage unless you give them money for your belongings that you dont owe.

Two main complaints about the PS in Chula Vista...1. my grandkids toys were all stolen! 2. They did nothing. It is always a terrible feeling to have someone go through your personal items, but when they don' care, it shows suscpicion and carelessness. But dont be late with a payment because they are ready to auction off items. Awful service and experience!

Go to The BBB and file a complaint. Civil law suits?...hmmm

Don't ever rent from Public Storage. Many of their managers are lairs, some are crooks. Some years ago I got a call on a Saturday from their Pasadena office and the person told me my unit was going up for auction on Monday, they'd cut the lock and checked the contents. Complete surprise. Was told unless I paid past due two months rent by end of day, auction on Monday. But I had the canceled checks for my rent, so what was going on? I was forced to wire payment to PS to stop auction. On Monday I called corporate and demanded managerial help. On investigation, found the manager had miscredited some of my past payments to another unit. I had not received any of the mandatory legal mailings before auction, either. At time of call manager had claimed they did not have my current address on file and that was why I hadn't received any mailings. A lie. My address was on my checks and my sender's address was on my check envelopes, and they had my phone number and had used it to call me. I never got a proper answer out of PS, or an apology, nor was refunded or credited for the Saturday overpayment. Ripoff artists. Because I lived far away I could not go back there for a few years. When I did, I found there was not a Public Storage lock on my unit, but another lock, not the combination lock I'd used. I raised hell and they stonewalled me telling it was not their lock so it was not their problem. They told me that whoever had told me on the pre-auction call that they'd cut the lock, probably lied in order to get payment out of me. These people are the lowest of the low. Public Storage is scum, the corporate management are bastards, the local managers are often people who may have some problem preventing them from getting a regular job. PS desn't care when they hire them. Some managers have major attitude problems. DON'T RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE.

Public storage is horrible, I have called about 7 or 8 times, and has never recieved a call back 281-495-5327, and when I tried to call today the voice mail box was full, so that means Public Storage, do not return ANYONE calls. Oh ya called Corporate Office at 2:55pm at 818-244-8080. and they are closed. and the Fees are more than the cost to keep the storage per month. I DO KNOW THIS IT DOES NOT TAKE A ARMY TO RUN A STORAGE, MAYBE THEY NEED A COLLEGE DEGREE TO ANSWER THE PHONES OR SOMETHING, IT IS A DAME SHAME. :-(

Horrible experience!!!!! McDowell Mnt. and Granite Reef location in Scottsdale. They bait and switch you. I arrived with a huge truck of my belongings to find that the "good deal" that the manager offered me was a squatty little cave with a door the size of my front door and poor lighting. When you have a huge full truck, that needs to be returned you feel under duress. It just went downhill from there.

I am renting from them. The employees at the Tampa Road, Oldsmar FL location are HORRIBLE! If you call with an issue, they literally sit and argue with you over the phone. My unit is being auctioned. That's fine, I didn't have the money to pay, I can't stop that. BUT! I do have personal, sensitive information in a couple of the boxes (birth certs, ssn, everything) that I have requested that I have the opportunity to remove before the auction. Under this great land's Privacy Act, I am entitled to protect my information to avoid Identity Theft. They REFUSE to allow me to obtain these documents. Whether I am delinquent or not, I am still entitled to my privacy. Now, I am calling corporate, which after reading all of this, may be futile. If that doesn't work, the next step is the State...which she said governs what they can and can't do. She said the State tells them what they can do, and 3 minutes later, she said the COMPANY tells the locations what they can and can't do. Two answers for the same question?? If the State doesn't work, I will continue moving forward. Can you go to the sheriff's office and request an injunction against the auction? If I fall victim to Identity Theft, I am soooo going to own that place! Anybody might want in on a class action?? :)

I spoke with a customer service didn't and then a Manager and I can't believe the treatment I received. These people are the worse DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! You have other options. Search for them or you will regret it.

Like most of those above I too have to work for a living honest work traveling across the country storing my things for sometimes mostly using PUBLIC STORAGE,,never again..they have clearly become shady crooks that offer one price and raise the price and dream up fees to steal your stuff make stupid rules saying you have to come there in person..but you money can come anytime from any where...I feel they are making up their own laws ..and surely should be investigated...I will never use them again..I hope they all go to jail...they are the lowest of the lowlifes out there...go anywhere but to Public Storage

While the manager and staff at Public Storage in San Mateo, CA, are pleasant and helpful to deal with, the company in general is apparently a greedy, fee charging, rent raising, uncaring, couldn't-care-less about the customer type of operation. If you're reading this prior to renting a storage unit somewhere, be wise and DO NOT RENT FROM ANY PUBLIC STORAGE FACILITY! Stay tuned, because my story hasn't yet been written about my 10 1/2 year experience with Public Storage. Deal with Public Storage at your own risk!

Terrible...horrible...MEAN company. Though I pay late and ALWAYS -never miss -- and, of course, and their oay their exhirbitabt latw fees, they lock me out after the 10th of each minth. This should be illegal. These people should be in JAIL! Please complain every single place you can about this horrible company!!!

I reserved a Public Storage unit 2 1/2 years ago thinking my belongings would only be there for a month at most. I didn't have much, with the only things of real value being two flat screen TVs. The $1 for the first month was a joke with all the fees adding up. I bought the insurance and locks from them. I decided to keep the unit for a while longer. Maybe a year in I decided to move out, but once I scheduled my move out date I was called and offered a 10% off discount if I decided to stay. I decided to stay and was never given the discount. Instead my rent went up! I started with a $179.99 deal and am now paying $240/month. Are they not required to notify you? To top this off, my two TVs were STOLEN. Considering there was not forced entry, seems it must have been an inside job -- especially considering they are the ones that supply the keys in the first place. So, I spent thousands of dollars to store two items that were actually stolen. I've never felt so ripped off in my life. NEVER rent from Public Storage. Those running the company should be fired, locked up in jail, and pay back all of the people that have been taken advantage of. The Mill Valley PS is corrupt, unethical and engage in false and misleading advertisement.

I had reserved a 10 x 20 storage unit at a location that was not convenient for me as it was further away than I wanted but reserved it due to price. When I got there with a truck load of stuff to store, I was told that the 10 x 20 was not avaliable. I ended up getting 2 10 x 10 units paying much more. Isn't that bit and switch? spoke with management and they are telling me I never reserved a 10 x 20. That is funny due to the fact I have a reservation number for that unit. I had previously stored stuff in a different facility for 8 years and Sandy at the Hall Rd. facility in clinton township MI was great, but its to bad corporate isnt as good. I will never recommend Public Storage to anyone.....ever.

this is the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. From the Oyster Point location, to the corporate headquarters, it has been impossible for any staff member to resolve a payment discrepancy for two months and counting. Will never use this company, in any location, ever again.

I have been with public storage for a year. people reading this do not rent with public storage . I went to retrive my belonging from my unit in the proses i lost track of time ,when 30 minutes pass 9 pm when i went to exit my code was not working at the gate. I whent to go knock at the door of onsite maneger , open the window from his free rent on site apartment and told me that what i would have done if he wasnt on i said call the 1800 number , i asked for him to open the door to take my car out that i use for work he refuse closed the window and never gave me another explanation . Am talking about the storage in la vern on white street, if ure not gana be helpfull dont live on site . youre item are not gana be safe there do to on site neglegents and bad costomer service.
