Would gladly give a 0 rating, have been a customer for 22 years, recently received in the mail a card advisibg that i owed p.s. $15.00 & should pay immediately, i went to the site @ 1600 W. Sample Rd. Pompano Fl & ? the charge the socalled mgr Ira went into my account & played around with the computer mouse for about 5 mins i ? again the reason for the charge & still got no answer,he decided to fluff me off saying he would speak to his v.p. he apparently thought i was a stupid woman i would fall fo his b.s. However 2 days later i received another card in the mail requesting payment of the 15.00 again.on the 28th December my caller i.d. showed p.s. called my residence but left no message, Today 01-02-11 i went up to storage again to pay my months rent the girl @ the desk advised she was the 1 who called @ left a message I told her there was no message left & she tried insisting that she did leave a message I called her out on her lie again and advised her that i was going to take the matter further she then offerd the district manager's card whereupon i advised it was going 1 step further. Dont see how p.s. can continue to florish with the treatment the hand out but then every dog has it's day

I have NEVER had to deal with such nonsense. I paid TWO months in advance. Never late. Diligent. I moved out over TWO MONTHS ago and still have not received my refund. I have called Corporate office AND the property site at least 2x a week and continue to get the run around. Today....someone calls me from the Corporate office and tells me that my unit is still occupied and I will not be getting a refund. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND????? This unit was closed Sept 15th...what do you mean the unit isn't closed? Why aren't you communicating with eachother? Public Storage threatens to take/auction your things if you don't pay on time but when I pay 2 months in advance and I move out and 2 months later I have not received my refund there is a huge disconnect and problem here. I am furious. Stupidly I rented another unit in a different State but if I had known this was going to happen I would not have done so. This is POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Public Storage does not care about their customers! They only care about the money. This is an outrage and unacceptable! I will continue to call every day until I get my refund. Ron Havener is at Corporate Offices and he will be my next call although I was told that "he doesn't deal with this kind of thing"...well maybe he should and then there wouldn't be an ongoing list of irrate customers and bad reviews!!
I wish i could have given 0 stars. I know others that have stored with them for years and never had problems. I have been with them for 5 months, and now it is awful. I discovered i have rats living and eating everything i own. I pay monthly for insurance but now they say they don't cover vermin damage. I have sent an email to every contact i've found on willis insurance and public storage. I also discovered an investigation going on linked to AIG and emailed them. I have called the 800 numbers and been passed around from voicemail to voicemail. I am determined to be compensated for what i am owed, it is deserved. Also, the property manger of PS is wanting to know why willis ins is refusing my claim. I just want direction on who to go to next.
I am terribly disappointed and somewhat speechless at the lack of basic customer service that Public Storage offers. In August, PS added $5/month to my bill. When I asked why this was happening, I simply got the response that "everything is costing more with the bad economy so we are charging more". When I delved deeper, I was told, "this is inflation". I became irritated since it was obvious that the PS customer service people didn't know what they were talking about and provided no customer service whatsoever, so I decided to take it up with the 800 number. I called and when the issue couldn't be resolved, I told them to cancel my unit and I requested to talk to a local manager. They said that they couldn't have me talk to him directly but he would call within 48 hours. I never got that call. I moved out yesterday (29 days after my call to cancel my unit) and figured tha tI should call and have them confirm that everything was said and done. I found out that my auto-withdraw was NEVER CANCELED and that my conversation over the phone with the 800 number was NEVER DOCUMENTED on their end (I have my cell phone bill to prove that it happened). On top of that, I just received a call informing me that I have a 10% discount if I chose to stay. TOO LITTLE TOO LATE - I MOVED OUT YESTERDAY! It's just appalling how a business can stay in business when they lack basic customer service and documentation skills. And they have the gall to end the conversation with "I hope that you will choose PS in the future for your storage needs." Seriously?
Your star rating is dramatically skewed to look better than it is! Out of the 5 reviews that have posted 5 stars, only 4 are actually positive. Public Storage clearly has even worse customer service than it appears.
Attempting to survive in tough times, after being evicted from my home in Chicago I've move from state to state seeking employment....surviving and struggling. I fell behind in my payments to the storage unit and have lost all of my things including a few precious things belonging to my mom. She is terminally ill in a nursing home. Each time I tried reaching the office in payment attempts in the last month I receive no call back and no online access to my account. I hope very much that this company understands the impact it has on families and loved ones when they detroy our things before giving us a chance to retrieve them. My family and I will remember this is one of the hardest lessons learned in these times. Unfortunately your company will be at the top of the list of companies that take advantage - not give back.
We have new management, and they need to go under training! They dont have people skills,employees are quitting left and right,cause their jobs are repeatedly being threatened! Public Storage should know about what is happening in the state of Maryland. The district manager and regional managers are just rude and unrealistic,expecting people to be God! I am really advising that corporate visit the State of Maryland and their stores,getting the inside scoop of how they feel working underneath the new cruel management. Public Storage is the last place in Maryland that people want to store their goods. They rather store it at another storage place. I work for the State of Maryland Government and what I see from the upper management is unacceptable and strongly believe that they need to be removed or strongly watched over! I wouldnt want these people to represent a company as large as this! Its a bad representation! This will destroy good work ethics at any workplace,feeling very uncomfortable working for them.
i have been trying to work out payments with mike caneal in coral springs Fl.my unit is 1456. I have missed payments since march all that is in there is paper work from my 37 years of being married. I told Mike i will pay in full by th 27th of this month, and he could send a contract to me over the fax,, my wife has been begging him for help. He wont work anything out.i owe 800 dollars which i would pay in full next week.Everybody these days have some sort of problems. but after 7 years with your company this is down right rude of such a good company. I have tried to get in touch with Mr. Glick in Cailf. and also mr. good and nobody calls us back, this paper work is very important to us and you folks have not done things the legal way. In May I rented a climate control unit at the Public Storage located 11085 Kingsley Rd.Dallas, Texas. Approximately once a month from May on I would go to the unit to get some thing I needed. In mid July of 2010 I went to unit to look for some items I needed. In entering the first floor level of the building where my unit is I was overwhelmed by the heat and humidity that was present. Upon opening the unit and turning the light on I was shocked by what I saw. It looked like snow had fallen inside the unit. Mold and mildew spores were growing every where and the few boxes that I opened were also contaminated. It seemed so unbelievable. A grandfather clock that my father worked so hard on to put stain glass in was covered in spots of spores. Chairs, sofa, and a desk that is a limited edition revealed horrible contamination. Everything in the unit is contaminated with mold spores. My first approach was to notify the managing staff that lived on the premises. The woman seated at the desk handed me a pamphlet from the insurance company and told me to call them. It bewildered me that she did not ask to examine the damage or call her district manager. After comprehending the lack of concern from this person, I asked for the District and Regional managers names and phone numbers. I immediately called and arranged to meet the District Manager and one of his maintenance affiliates. On the day of the meeting, the district manager was no where to be found. So I preceded to show the young man the contaminated furnishings and belongings;however, as we approached the door to the building, we found it opened! Again the heat in the first level was horrific, and security had been breached. Noticing the opened door the young man surveyed the problem and made a simple repair. I thought to myself, "How long has this door been open?" We continued to my unit. Public Storage had asked the young man to evaluate and possibly topically clean the furnishings. As I opened the unit a flow of hot, moist heat hit us, it was like entering a sauna. He reacted like anyone who was overtaken by a burst of heat..he stepped back. The look on his face was enough to concern me and he immediately said he needed to call his boss, "this takes more than a topical cleaning." I called the District Manager so that he could talk to the maintenance man, all to find that he was at front office. The maintenance man and he spoke briefly. I left the young man with at the unit and headed for the office. Mr. District Manager was busy settling on some furnishings that were being sold, so it appeared. As I waited it was apparent that selling the items of others seems to be a monthly occurrence, and a mention of coming up sales was presented. I proceeded to explain the security breach and that my last conversation with him regarding the a/c unit was an issue that needed attention. He defended the company and mentioned that a check of the a/c unit had been done around the beginning of July and all was well;however, they did have an a/c man come out again and found a part needed refurbishing or replacement. The unit at this point is still with out a/c. I mentioned that mold and mildew do not develop in two or three days and it appears that the a/c unit had not been working for quite some time. Long story short...I have paid for a State of Texas Certified Mold Inspection Company in the amount of $525.00 to evaluate the contamination. The levels of contamination are 4,000 times higher than what is outside, which is the highest this inspector of 20 plus years has every seen. The EPA standard of cleaning is completely different than what Public Storage recommended. EPA suggests discarding the soft items, like clothes, linens, upholstered items, etc. Other items need to be removed to a safe location so not to contaminate other facility items. Plus before moving them they have to be cleaned with a hemp filter outside than placed in a truck and stored in a safe clean unit for examination of every item from furnishing to fabrics.Public Storage is totally aware of every detailed as I emailed it to all parties concerned. They have a Certified letter with chronological dates of each event and situation. I have only request that they clean the items according to the EPA guidelines..I think that's fair and just. As a person who is highly allergic to mold and mildew and has fibromyalgia it would make for a just and fair resolution. Unfortunately, I once again was presented with an either or conclusion, I accept a topically cleaning or nothing. It was back to taking another action of qualifying the damage. I called a Cleaning and Restoration service, who would take on the job and is equipped to do so. A gentleman come out and evaluated the some of the damage and cost of repairing it, it possible. He was not able to justify all the items because some are in boxes but what he could gave is an estimate with a additional clause.His company is certified EPA and have experience in the proper cleaning and restoration procedures. The clothes if salvageable would be sent to a company that specializes in fabric cleaning. It's hard to find companies who are certified and who have the facility to do such cleaning and restoration, it took me all of 10 companies to get this one. Once again I emailed the District Manager, Regional VP and CEO, (who now blocks my emails)with this information as of a week ago. It is in the hands of Public Storage and the last email sent gave them 48 hours to respond, it's in the 24th hour. If you know of someone renting a space at Public Storage in Dallas and if it is located on the first level at the 11085 Kinglsey Rd.Dallas, Texas 75238, I'd check it out pronto, because my unit is not the only unit contaminated..qualified by Mold Inspector and Cleaning/Restoration companies. My gripe is about the security or lack thereof. The "security gate" was broken for months. FINALLY fixed and within a week, broken again. Not repaired again for months. We had a special report on our local news last week regarding breakins into storage facilities. They won't have any problem getting into our area with the gate being WIDE OPEN for easy access. I don't think I would have complained about this but my price was raised for the monthly cost. Ever since I've been paying more the gate has been broken. What is fair about that? Isn't security part of our monthly price and agreement???? I spoke to the manager when the gate was broken the first time and was told that it is VERY expensive to have it repaired. Don't care, get it DONE!!!
I GOT A STORAGE UNIT IN CHARLOTTE,NC, ON SOUTH BLVD LAST WEEK. THE PEOPLE THAT I HIRED TO MOVE ME IN THE STORAGE,CAME BACK TH VERY NEXT DAY,USED THE CODE,BROKE MY LOCK OFF AND STOLE ALL O FMY EXPENSIVE BELONGINGS. PUBLIC STORAGE STATES THAT ITS NOT THEIR FAULT AND ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. YT THE M ANAGER THAT LIVES ON SITE STATED TO ME, THAT SHE KNEW IT WASNT THE MAN THAT CLAIMED TO BE MY FIANCE BELONGING,YET SHE CONTINUED TO LET THE MAN STEAL MY THINGS,AND SIT AND WATCH HIM WHILE SHE SMOKED A CIGGARETTE. SHE HAD NO ACCESS TO THE OFFICE TO MAKE SURE HE WASNT ON MY ACCOUNT,YET SHE STILL ALLOWED THE MAN TO COME IN, AND ALSO LET HIM OUT AFTER HOURS WITH MY STUFF. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN??? Hello to whom it may concern Elenor Edwards from the 11900 Katy Freeway Storage center in Houston Texas is the most helpful concerned and genuine person who I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Elenor always has a kind word to say and she is very knowledgable when it comes to her job and position in the Public Storage Family. Elenor is presently caught up in a political scandal with her district manager for some reason her district manager is not capable of passing on very important public storage documents to the team there and seems very incapable of handling such a position herself. If I were a employee at the Public Storage I would definetly have Elenor in a much more responsible position. I own a business of my own and it would be very nice to know Elenor was ther training the employees and holding down the fort why I was indisposed. That right there should be enough said. I went to the PS facility at 6536 Fair Oaks Blvd in Carmichael at 1:50pm to buy boxes for moving my house. The employee there, whose name tag said Yvonne, had put a sticky note in the window that said "on lunch" and would not open the door. She first just gestured broadly towards the sticky note, and then when I pointed to the “Hours” sign that said 9:30 – 5 (the same information as the website that had led to my choosing this store in the first place), she yelled through the glass that she wouldn't open the door until 2:15. So, my three-year-old and I sat down in the 91-degree heat to wait, as it would take longer to find another facility than just wait 25 minutes. After about 15 min, though, my little boy was flushed and overheated so I knocked again and called through the door, "can we just buy boxes?" Yvonne, who was watching TV, came around the counter and yelled something about how she could be fired if she turned on the computer. I strongly urge Public Storage to change whatever policy would result in firing an employee for serving a customer during posted business hours - I was hot, furious, upset that my child was so miserable, and I still don't have boxes - but not a snowball's chance that I'll buy them from Public Storage now.
Dealing with Public Storage is an intermittent source of irritation. After establishing an automatic payment account using my Visa card, I thought that I had eliminated the annoyance of written and telephone messages from the storage company such as unnecessary requests for a new photocopy of my Visa card (which had been automatically replaced by the credit card company a month before the expiration date). Here's their most recent annoyance. My wife and I just heard from Public Storage again, complaining that their automatic charges to our Visa card had been denied. Upon checking with Visa, we were informed that Visa would not have denied the $70.00 charge from Public Storage unless it were improperly submitted (we maintain a zero monthly balance on our card) and that Public Storage needs to resubmit the charge. We immediately phoned Public Storage and passed on the message from Visa. Public Storage informed us that they couldn't resubmit anything, that they had unilaterally canceled the automatic billing arrangement, and that we would need to reapply (AND PAY A FEE) using the company's website. Talk about outrageous! The bottom line is - Public Storage screwed up, either by using defective software or through human error, in its dealings with Visa. They want to blame this situation on us and have us pay for their mistake. What this company clearly needs is a series of class action lawsuits to end their attempts to swindle their customers by charging them fraudulent fees. I only gave them a one star rating because this website doesn't allow a "Zero Star" rating.
I RENTED THE STORAGE AT 8484 S SOUTH CHICAGO AVE CHICAGO IL 60617-1943. I STARTED RENTING THE STORAGE BACK ON OCTOBER 21, 2009 AND UP UNTIL AUGUST 2, 2010 I HAVE BEEN PAYING 86.00 A MONTH NOW FOR AUGUST 3 THEY WANT 90.00. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THEY AT THAT FACILITY WERE OVER CHARGING ME 18.00 A MONTH IT COMES OUT TO BE 180.00 FOR THE TEN MONTHS. I DON'T THINK ITS FAIR. ON AUGUST 2 MONDAY I WENT TO THE STORAGE CLEANING EVERYTHING OUT I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY BROTHER IN LAW STATING MY HUSBAND WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. SO I LEFT IT STORAGE BIN UNLOCKED AND WENT TO THE UIC HOSPITAL. RECEIVED A CALL ON AUGUST 4 BUT I DIDN'T CALL BACK THE STORAGE UNTIL TODAY AUGUST 4 BECAUSE I HAD LEFT MY CELL PHONE AT HOME. I've maintained a very large storage unit in Carmichael California on Fair Oaks Blvd. for some eleven years and have NEVER paid late. In fact, for many years, I simply pre-paid for a year at a time so I did not have to think about/worry about the bill. I received a retroactive increase a couple years in a row and was furious saying they had received monies from me way in advance of due dates (today's dollars for advance obligations) and could collect interest/have use the money in advance. They were unmoved and so I began paying my payments monthly refusing to allow them the prior benefits I willingly bestowed. As a result I have received routine increases. The newest outrage, is that in the past two months I have now received late fee notices claiming I paid late. Absolute b.s. I complained and demanded the envelopes as I vehemently dispute they were late but more likely the management did not bother to pick them up and log them in timely and wants to CYA them self with corporate office by assessing me late fees after ELEVEN years without one payment late. My complaint for this fraudulent late assessment in June 2010 was met with another late fee for the next month-July. My complaint included my dispute of said late fee for June and a request for the envelope to verify the postage date (I know it was timely as I take ALL of my outgoing mail directly to the Post Office where I maintain a P.O. Box). My request for the envelope was/has been ignored. I hope to remove my things in the not to distant future and will never do business with this company again and will make sure everyone/anyone I know who wishes to rent storage knows my story and of this site.
