I honestly dont think that Payless Corporate even reads these posts. I see there is already one on the Moses Lake WA store manager. That man should not be allowed to even work with the public much less become a manager. I was in the store the day of the yelling with the lady over the sign and he was extremely rude and mean. I have been in another time that I heard him telling one of his employees that noone liked her or wanted to work with her. He said this right in front of people shopping. He is just out and out mean to people... How he ever got a job working with the public is a real surprise to me.
I recently purchased apair of heels at the store on 72nd in Tacoma WA, the cashier I thought did a really nice job. Huh, he totally stole money off my credit card and signed for it forging my signature. That could have been a christmas gift, or gas. So if you have been shopping Payless, doublecheck your statements...
I wish there was an option for no stars, at least for the Payless in Glen Cove. I'm giving three, because customer service at corporate were very nice. I bought a pair of sneakers for my 5 year old son at Payless two weeks ago. I usually go to Payless for him because he just loves the super hero light up shoes. Never had a problem except for this last pair. They lasted two weeks before the sole started ripping off the bottom. I took the shoes back to the store and asked if they could do a refund, or an exchange. I was told that nothing could be done, as they were worn and I didn't have the receipt. Still upset over the poor quality of the shoes, I called corporate to see if they could do anything about it. Imagine my surprise when I was told that even without the receipt, it was store policy to allow an exchange! I called the store to get the name of the woman who told me she couldn't help me, so I could inform her manager the next day that she needed to become familiar with policy. All I did when I called was ask for her name and told her that I would be speaking with her manager the next morning. She called me back THREE TIMES, demanding what I was going to do with her name, and what I was going to tell her manager! All I was going to do was inform the manager that she didn't seem aware of policy! Surely, she would not have been fired over that. I'm not even going into which store, or what her name is here, as I've worked in retail and I know sometimes you just have a bad day. Instead, I was forced to call the corporate office again in the hopes that the harassing calls would stop. This time I logged a formal complaint with the District Manager. Customer service let me know that I can exchange the shoes at another store, and if I had a problem there, to have the store employee call them and they would explain the situation. They are also sending me a gift certificate because of the phone calls. I have never experienced a situation like this before, nor have I ever dreamed of calling a customer in the manner this employee did, and I've worked in Kmart and dealt with some VERY unreasonable customers. Had she simply let it go, her manager would have reminded her of store policy the next day and that would have been the end of it. To call someone in their home, over and over again.... What did she think she'd accomplish?
I put 1 star only because it wouldn't allow me to go any lower on my rating. I went to the Moses Lake, WA store on Saturday, Dec. 4th, 2010. I asked about some boots that were on a sales poster in the window (along with some slip on shoes) for $16.99 (reg. $24.99 to $45.00). It didn't say $16.99 and up. After having no luck in finding them, I asked an employee where they would be. He started showing me lots of boots that were $35.99 and up. I showed him the poster and he said that he had shown me those and again started pointing at boots $35.99 and up. I showed him the poster again and said the poster shows them at $16.99. He pointed to the "reg. price $24.99 to $45.00" and said that means that the sale price is any where between $24.99 and $45.00. I said, "That's not very honest." That was when the employee went absolutely nuts and started yelling at me and throwing his arms around right in front of about 8 customers and a clerk at the register who gasped when she saw all this. He continued to yell about the prices on the poster and then said those were the prices and if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else to look for boots. As he stomped off, I told him he was very rude. He turned and started yelling at me again throwing his arms around saying I was "grossly rude!" I had not even raised my voice the entire time and had said nothing more than that. He stomped off and I asked the cashier for the corporate number. She wrote his name down (Ron) and said he was the manager and gave me a phone number for the corporate office. I attempted to get a picture of the poster in case I needed it later and couldn't get my new phone to work. My husband had his phone with him and so when I told him about it a few minutes later, he stood outside the store and took a picture of the poster. As he did so, this same "crazed" employee started yelling at him through the store window! My husband opened the door and asked him if he was the one who had a problem with a woman in there a little earlier and that's when he came out and started yelling at my husband that he was going to call the police because it was about to get physical. We left and were later contacted by the police saying we were trespassed from the store. Not that we would ever go back in there, but it is rather insulting. On Monday, I called the Corporate Office who didn't really care. They said they would take a report and let someone know. Meanwhile, they've got a ticking time bomb of an employee who will likely hurt someone soon. Oh well, I warned them! Be careful if you go in the Moses Lake Payless and whatever you do, don't ask them for help finding something they advertise!
I'm writing in regards to a comment made by the store manager from the Hammond, La. store today. I received a 20% off coupon in the mail and brought it in hoping to receive the sale price, in which last week I purchased a pair of boots at regular price. While the manager agreed to give me the 20% off on the boots, the comment was made not once, but twice, that "that was abusing the system". While I don't frequently make it a habit of "abusing the system" as I am a teacher and mother of three children, I really feel as if this young lady should refrain from making these statements as this could be made to the wrong person one day. After all, many stores allow for their customers to receive the sale price if bought at regular price recently.
I used to love Payless Stores. I went to get a BOGO sale and the store I was in didn't have a shoe. They sent me way up the street to the next store and game me a me a $3 coupon for the travel. The shoes I got hurt really bad. They fit, but the material around the toes rubbed your feet really bad. When I went to exchange them The manager at the Hawthorne, CA store had a very bad attitude and told me things like "no one put a gun to your head and told you to buy shoes," and "you didn't have to but them" I will never buy any shoes from payless again.
The manager at Payless Shoesource, Brian at the Carrollton location, is the worst manager I have ever experienced at Payless. My family and I will not even come into the store when he is there. He is breathing down our necks and evrything. The company should send in secret shoppers to monitor Brian because something is all and all, wrong with him in general. How did he become the manager of this store? I will never know but I will make the extra trip to Douglasville anyday!
I am so frustrated with my last (and I mean last) experience at Payless. While cashing out the register "froze" while processing my payment. The cashier re-ran my card, even when I told her the transaction went through. I was told if the charge was duplicated - "just come back in with your receipt and we will refund your money for the duplicate charge." Well needless to say - I was charged twice, called the store to make them aware of the issue and was again told by a different clerk to "come on in and bring your receipt and we will refund your money." Upon arriving that evening I was told by a third clerk that I would have to file a dispute with my bank in order to get my money back. I was absolutely furious. After all this mess - and a second unnecessary trip back to the store - I have to go through the process with disputing this with my bank. A dispute usually takes about a month to clear up, by the way. Corporate needs to make sure employees know policies - and to work on customer service. I know I will not be going back.
I went into the Payless Shoe store in Revere Massachusetts at the Northgate Shopping Center with my 11 year old daughter. When I was looking at the shoes, the clerk named Sarah was pleasant and asked if we needed any help. I told her we were just looking but thank you. As we were looking for shoes two teenage boys came into the store and stayed at the register talking to Sarah. Apparently they were waiting for her to go on break so they could hang out. One of the boys was talking about sex and using the f word like it was the only one he knew. She told him to stop and he said he didn't have to. I spoke up and said yes you do. I asked him if he could stop using that language in front of my daughter. He said that if I was going to give him attitude then he would not stop. Apparently Sarah thought this was funny because she was laughing. I asked her for her name and the name of the manager. She said sure with such an attitude. She wrote down the names and handed me the paper. Another employee came in and Sarah got her bag so she could go on break with the boys. As she walked by me, she bumped into me and pushed me into the display. I said hey and she said oh, did I hit you...sorry and they all giggled as they left. After they left, I looked at the paper she gave me and it had the names but no phone number to contact Carol who was the manager. I asked the other employee for some kind of number to the store or headquarters or customer service but all she said was that she was new and didn't know. How can they leave a new employee at a store with no contact information for anyone? What if she had a problem? Finally she called the other employee, Sarah, on her cell phone and got me the number to the store. This employee was pleasant. I have no complaints against her. Also, I undersdand that people swear (I do) but if someone asks you to stop in front of their children, then you should or at least at that point, Sarah the employee should have asked the boys to wait outside for her. I do not expect to have that kind of experience in a shoe store, especially with my child. Needless to say, I put the shoes down that I planned on purchasing and walked out of the store.
I believe payless needs to screen their employees a little more. They are completely rude and unprofessional. I realize its a minimum wage job but they is no reason for minimum paced people. :/ Especially because I was dealing with the assistant manager
I walked into my neighborhood payless store last night to buy my daughter a much needed pair of new sneakers. I love payless and have shoppped there for 20yrs. When we got there and opened the door I was bowled over by this overwhelming smell of perfumes and colonges! It was horrible. I couldn't stand to be in the store it was so over coming. I got an instant headache. There are a lot of people who are allergic and sensitive to these smells. This is a shoe store. when did it become a department store following in the foosteps of Norstroms or Macy's. What's next to be sold in payless, fine china!! Please, a shoe store is no place to be selling perfumes and colonges.
I love the fact that when an employee is sick they cant call in EVER because the manager cant "cover" the shift...how does Payless run a store where the employee has to work sick? Spreading viruses around the store...dont shop @ payless unless you want to get sick!!!
Redmond and Bellevue, Washington - I have shopped at payless for years, mainly because they carry wide width shoes, or should I say they used to. They stopped carrying a shoe I'd loved for years, and when I looked for something else, there were 2 pairs of shoes in my size in the entire store, both poor quality and nothing I would buy. The in store stock has dwindled to nothing in the past few years. About four years ago one day I walked in and was able to buy about five pairs at once. This month I went to 3 stores in my area and could not find one pair at any store. When I mentioned this to the clerk she told me to contact corporate without offering to give me the contact info to do so, which was basically like telling me to go to hell. Another clerk told me to go online. Since all shoes are not made the same, it is not convenient to order shoes online. I tried this and had to return every one. But it is clear to me that we are being pushed to shop online so stores don't have to keep shoes in stock. So I am giving up on shopping at payless for my shoes anymore as I actually prefer to try them on - duh. Not that payless cares about my purchase, obviously. I am just extremely disappointed at the quality of what is there, and even more at what isn't. Pretty soon we won't be able to go to a store in person to shop at all. Oh, wait - it's here!
Oh my god!! Stepped into payless shoe store on Elston in Chicago. I felt like stepping in the good olds when u were greater at door and ushered to a stool and measured my feet to get the correct size shoe. The staff knew how to assist customers. Outstanding Customer Service. Thank you, for real customer aeros alive and well. I am referring my friends to this payless shoe store. Thank you again. I will be sure to this shoe again and again.
look i am from baltimore/towson maryland and since you should know that i have shoped at payless for sometime now. and all i can say is that if they had a manager like me in the store it would be different. i would give 110% customer service and i would provide 110% into training my employees in have prefect customer service. but there is one thing, sometimes us as customers can be hard to deal with. now there is alot of employees that will take it easy with customers but there are others and managers to that you would look at and say why do they even have they jobs. but always remember to take it slow when dealing with a problem with people in retail. like they say most of the time it isnt their fault. but if a sistuation doesnt get solved take it to the higher level. dont get urself all worked up for a little mishap. that goes for all people in all situations. just think about it, no one getting upset for little mishaps. people would be so happy.just remember take it slow!!!!!!!!!!! things happen for a reason.
I purchased a pair of sneakers that was $24.99 the girl was on the phone talking to her family and ringing me up at the same time. She rung up $29.99 I had to show her the correct price of $24.99 This was at the Hudson Mall in Jersey City, N.J. Receipt reads Transaction by:6699 Don't want her to loose her job, just stay off phone at the register while attending a customer.
I shop at the payless in the steamtown mall in scranton pa all the time. I love the people who work they they are always so happy and willing to help. when i tell them i dont need any help they alawys come back around to just check and usually i could use that assistiace they have even offered to check other stores to see if they have a shoe that i need that isnt available
i work for payless and i still have not recieved my check from the pay period that has just passed. needless to say, i am quite unhappy. the checks have been being sent to my house because i am unable to get a bank account without 3 forms of picture i.d and the pay cards are a scam that i do not believe in. i have worked very hard for this company and deserve my compensation. so where is my check?
The Payless in the City of Covina, CA., on Hollenbeck Street, needs a baby-sitter for their employees. My family and I (with children in tow)arrived at this location on 8-18 to find one their female employees on duty at approximately 8:10 PM involved in inappropriate behavior with her significant other. The female employee much too busy in making out and not notice clients (or possibly didn't even care who was around) in full involvement allowing her male friend to feel her up completely from her bottom and up. The other female employee was definitely extremely busy picking up the slack for the young clerk who actually needed to leave the premises with her male friend and continue their inappropriate behavior elsewhere. No manager on duty just 2 young females, one of which obviously has no respect for herself nor the job position she is hired to do. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO PUBLIC SERVICE WHEN ONE CANNOT EVEN TAKE THEIR CHILDREN TO STORE AND PURCHASE SHOES WITHOUT THE YOUNG CHILDREN BELOW THE AGE 10 BEING EXPOSED TO ALMOST A SEXUAL ACT IN A PUBLIC PLACE. SHAME ON PAYLESS FOR NOT HAVING A BETTER SYSTEM OF MONITORING OR HAVING A RESPONSIBLE ADULT ON DUTY TO STOP THIS TYPE OF DISGRACE.
While in the Payless Shoes in Moses Lake WA I heard the man who was the manager yelling at employees about little things in front of the customers, then he actually started yelling at a lady customer and then he actually walked out of the store wanting to fight with her husband... The poor employees who were there were telling everyone how sorry they were, when it wasnt anything they had done. NEVER will I set foot in that store while that manager is there. He is rude and mentally cruel to people. I will shop walmart or another shoe store before I would ever consider walking in that store again.
