I also bought a Lazy Boy sofa that lasted 15 years and was very pleased with it, so I went and purchased another one. Never will I make this same mistake. Lazy Boy is only as good as the people who started the company back in 1929, so do not be fooled, their furniture is junk and their warrenty is even worse. Always make sure you check the manufacturers warrenty first is all I can say.Their company no longer cares about quality but how much they can sell. Eventually people will see this and the name Lazy Boy will be in the toilet,it may take time but it will happen.
We have purchased two reclinders and the noise is unbearable. Out guests ask us what is wrong with our chairs and are startled at the noise. We have told the store manager but he seemed unconcerned. We would like a service call to check out this terrible condition.
I have purchased several chairs from Lazy Boy over the years but the last 2 recliners have been a disaster. The first recliner I purchased the material on the arms wore out in about 3 years time so I donated it to a family that didn’t care about the looks they just needed a chair. The second leather recliner was purchased 4 years ago. I also purchased the Guardsman leather protection plan at that time. Two small-discolored spots appeared on the back of the recliner. I photographed them, filled out the 2-page questionnaire and mailed it in. Guardsman called and said it was a defect in the leather and they don’t cover that. Today I stopped by the local Lazy Boy Furniture showroom and tried to talk to the manager. I told her what had happened and showed her a picture of the chair I had on my phone. She said that I should have read the fine print in the contract and stated that the discolored areas were probably caused by perspiration or drugs I might be taking. She then inquired as to the medication my doctor had prescribed. I told her I took a blood pressure medicine and she said that is what caused it. She then said that I must cover the back of the recliner with a towel. A sales associate who was listening gave me the name of a local leather repair and color restoration person and at least tried to be helpful. I would never ever by another Lazy Boy product. When you spend close to a thousand dollars for a chair you think it will probably last longer a 4 years. I could go to the outlet store and get a new recliner every year and come out ahead. I was embarrassed by the personal questions regarding my medication and received terrible treatment from your store manager in Champaign.
we purchased a couch and loveseat set from you about 4 years ago. But the tear happened within three years of owning the couch. The couch design is so poor, that caused this material to rip the way it did. Yes, we have complained about this and I will continue to complain about your poor quality of how you care for customers. You do not show or give customers any satisfaction in your product. I do not recommend your company to anyone that needs a real good quality furniture. You are not the place for that. And I know that there are other dissatisfied costumers out there, cause I am in contact with them. I wish I could be in a better mood about all of this, only if the company would care about the customers and build a better quality furniture, then I would not be telling everyone not to go to you. Your frame of the couch and lack of padding in this arm is what caused the rip in the material. And now I am stuck with it. I am trying to find arm covers/ caps to cover up this UGLY tear and to help prevent it from getting bigger. The only way is to not sit there. Know how we feel when we have company over and sees this? Yeah, we entertain a lot. And we share them our story. So, yeah they will not go to your store for furniture. I would like to get something done with this but Lazy boy the company does not care what my feeling are, the company just wanted my money and end the ties there. If I owned Lazy boy, I would make sure and go out of my way to make a customer happy. And you have not done that. Wish I could share my photos of the couch here. Your reply to email to secure that it has been received would be appreciated.

Does anyone inCorporate read these complaints? How do you get to the brass? The Demise of the Great American LazyBoy? It sure looks like it to me. In 1999,I bought spent $1300 [!] on the top of the line XL chair. The one with the heat/massager and the phone in it. It lasted about 5 years. I am disabled and must sleep in a recliner-I need high quality and was prepared to pay for it. Next, due to a reduction in income, I again bought an XL Lazy Boy recliner. This time for $800.No fancy components, though. Couldn` t afford the top shelf chair on SSI. [$8K per annum.] I foolishly believed this chair would last 10-12 years. A pipe dream, apparently. The new recliner didn`t last that long.It started to fail after three years. I had propped it up to compensate for mechanical failures. But its life is over. Cannot support me [6`1" 200 lbs. 64 y/o] The back of the chair falls off. It won`t "open", etc... The recliner is sitting outside the back door, where it was moved. I will have to pay to haul it off. It`s too large for the garbage man. Can`t move it alone anyway. It is completely dead.No pulse. No EEG.Nothing. The foot extension collapsed two years ago and I went to the dealer and got some parts to fix it. Got some springs too,but I have neither the tools nor the ability [not to mention the inclination] to install them properly. I did attempt this, though. I could take some photos to show you where the mechanical parts failed, but why bother-I doubt this letter will even draw a response. [Please prove me wrong.] The hinge that connects the back, the footpiece, the springs - all low grade pot metal or so it seems [and behaves]Not "made to last" that`s for sure,I`ve proven that twice now.At my expense. Now,my question for you is this: Why should I pay premium price for sub standard "goods"?And why was I so unwise as to repeat the mistake of returning to Lazy Boy to purchase another chair after the super-premium one failed so quickly? Is this planned obsolescence? Have you found a new, cheaper parts source? Why has LazyBoy quality declined. Are the stock holders happy? How about the Board of Directors? And why should I be so stupid as to buy Lazy Boy brand when I can buy a recliner for 13-30% of what I paid for your famous brand? I could go to "Recliner City"and buy eight recliners [http://www.reclinercity.com/am-4959-2660-gg.html] If they last three years each,I would have 24 years of "recliner pleasure" -in other words,I would set myself up for the rest of my life. With your product,I have had six.Had Six...Six.$2000 for Six. Of course, you will, not doubt, demand that I go though the offical warrantee process; fill out forms, waste time, get very angry [!!] etc, and at the end you will replace the parts [the pot metal ones] and I pay for labor...at what rate?$80 per hour?Again, for what this would cost in time, money and inconvenience,I could go to "Recliner City" and have a new chair for $250,immediately. It is made in America, btw, or so the ad claims. Is Lazy Boy? I won`t make this mistake again, that`s for sure. You make me feel like a fool for making this mistake twice. A lesson learned too late: Don`t buy a LazyBoy D.Mastrude 2914 S.Escondido ct Reno,NV 89502

Ordered the foam for my chairs I have had for seven years ( fourth time ordering in seven years )was told I would have them in 7-10 bus days. Ordered them the 6 of June, should be here by the20th. On the 25 th I called and was told they will be here between the 2nd - 4th of July. Asked the customer care person why and was told if they had a magic wand she would wave it and it would be here right away. I canceled my order and will never order from lazy boy again I have had nothing but trouble when I have to order more foam. NO MORE I AM DONE WITH LAZY BOY!!!!!!'
i rate customer service repair as 0 stars. i bought a rocker recliner at la z boy in pleasant hill california and needed a spring replaced. i called repair service yestday at 11:50 a m and left a message. the call went directly to voice mail. as of 12:18 a m today no one has called me back. i called the pleasant hill store and they offered to email san jose and tell them that i was still waiting for a call back. still no call. this is no way to treat your customers and repair service is killing la z boy. i would never buy another piece of furniture from la z boy, and i would not recommend them to anyone. where is the ceo??????????????? does he even care about his business? mr ceo take a lesson from undercover boss, a fairly new tv series with some wonderful caring ceos. now put someone on the front desk at san jose ca so your customers can contact repair service. i am so angry and frustrated with la z boy and their lack of care about their customers.
Wow. I'm so glad that I read through the reviews here. A few people evidently hit the '5 star' selection in error because they went on to discuss either how poor the quality of their La-Z-Boy furniture was - or how crummy the customer service turned out to be. I noticed that after reading through the pages and pages of complaints that the happiest customer turns out to be someone who was rating the La-Z-Boy furniture that she purchased 30 years ago. Makes me wonder if the quality back then was completely different than what they put out today? Another customer (Rose) said she was happy with the leather recliner she bought a couple of years ago, but zow- the overall consensus doesn't look so good. In any event, kudos to all the people who took the time to express their views on the furniture and also to this website for allowing us the opportunity! I'm heading your warnings for sure!
I'm a Combat Disableled Veteran, I asked about a modest Military Discount and denied, was going to purchase a recliner anyway, I was going to pick-up the recliner, since I need it sooner than later, again i was denied even that possibility, I like your recliners and I want one, but your Service Sucks and now I'm having to settle for one from K or Wallmart so I can pick it up at the store Immediately. In the meantime I'm using a $10.00 Beach Chair with 4 Herniated Discs in my Back and it's very uncomfortable, your Service People don't care and your Service since I bought my last one has declined dramatically. Due to my total dissatisfaction with my recent purchase from La-z-boy and the noticeable decline in the quality of their product......I have created a page for us unhappy customers on Facebook. Please pass this info to all of your friends that have had similar experiences. unfortunately zero stars is not an option! Purchased a Luxury Lift Power Chair with all the bells and whistles, what a mistake. This chair was purchased for my good friend who has trouble getting in and out of chairs. She has owned it for two years now. After three months of ownership the chair stopped lifting and two weeks and two repair people later they were finally able to determine that it was the remote. They were able to fix it but of course a year and a half later, none of the features on the chair work. Lazy Boy was called and they advised that although the parts were under warranty it would cost $99 an hour unknown how long it will take and she still has to wait a week to have the repair person to come. DO NOT BUY FROM LAZY BOY!!!!! They do not stand behind their products!
BEWARE BUYERS! Purchased two leather recliners 20 days ago for $3,500 at Longview La-Z-Boy and saw TV ad today showing buy one recliner, get one free. Called the store and was told that they are individual owner and couldn't honor the tv ad and I must be mistaken about the ad. Even though their storefront is a LZBoy storefront and they only sell LZBoy furniture. Asked if they could pick up chairs since I hadn't even received my first statement, but told no due to health department 3-day return policy. I am on a fixed income and just wish companies were looking out for taking care of their customers and not just bottom dollar.
I have been interested in purchasing a reclining loveseat with console in the middle so I browse at several furniture store websites. La-Z-BOY seems to be the only store that sells a reclining love seat with console so I explored further on La-Z-BOY website to compare the cover fabric selection. I found the cover fabric (cover color: Navy-A981886) that I like. The original price was $1,929.00 and the sale price was $1,449.00. I printed three types of reclining loveseats with consoles. On the Memorial weekend, I found a La-Z-BOY advertisement in the Washington Post newspapers. It offered 25% price off storewide Memorial Sale. On Sunday, May 27th, I went to La-Z-BOY store at 163 Jennifer Road in Annapolis, Maryland. I found all three types of reclining loveseat with consoles, just like the printed documents. The sale lady helped me and I showed her the documents from the website. She said that the color fabric that I like is custom order and the sale is 10% price off sale not 25%. I was very disappointed however I selected Owen Power La-Z-Boy Power loveseat just the same as I found on the website. The cost was $1,879.99 and was discounted to $1,791.99 with 10% off price sale ($188.00). My order will be delivered to my address in 6 to 8 weeks. I want to know why I couldn’t get the price of $1449.00 as shown in your website advertisement? This sounds like a bait and switch tactic.
I bought and ordered a sofa and an oversized chair with 2 tables. I was told 6-8 weeks. I waited and 12 weeks it finally showed up this paset Saturday night at 9p.m. Then whe I saw the tables,I was not happy They were the FLOOR MODELS, No one told me that those were the last one the sale person ordered them but the people behind the desk and the Manger of the store knew what they did was wrong and did the change, without telling my sales guy, or myself. I was NOT HAPPY, We live is a kinda small town and once the word will get out it will not be good. I told the manger I don't like to be devcied all he did was not look at me and turned red . I still will be in contact of the company. They may not do anything but at least I will feel much better about it.

DAVID LITTLE/BARBOURSVILLE MALL, WV STORE- DREADFUL Man of very little integrity or ethics in managing his business. He proves to a very arrogant owner and operator of this business, much less, the entire store's poor communication skills are that of very little intelligence. Mr. LAZY-BOY Little made no apologies for the 100 days that we had to wait for three pieces of furniture. And, made no apologies for calling us liars and defending his staff for their lack of communication and ability to defuse nor de-esculate their non-communitive, inconsistent information provided to us call, after call, after call. This household will never make a purchase with LAZYBOY again. In addition, the support line at their cooperate headquaters was a good laugh. You can expect to get a case number assigned with no resolution. Afterall, David LAZYBOY Little and LAZBOY Headquarters already had our $2000.00 plus and no one was worried about our inconveniences nor dissatisfaction, as it was made clear by Mr. Little and LAZYBOY HEADQUARTERS that a refund would never be possible!!!!! Mr. LAZYBOY LITTLE did offered a whopping 1/2 off the delivery, some 100 days later but he has failed to make good on that offer as well. It was a riduculous offer at that for the inconvenience and dissatisfaction considering the situation. BEWARE: you may hear such nonsense as: "There has been factory fabric issues not meeting expectations and this has caused a delay in making your furniture", or that they even "Ran out of the fabric, in production of this living suite, so production was haulted in order for it to be made from the same fabic dye lot making sure all pieces matched". In closing, as you can see from the various posts on this page, you can expect very unprofessional dealings with Mr. LAZYBOY LITTLE/Barboursville Mall, Huntington WV Store. You will not get furniture in 60 days as your are told when they take your money.
I thought I would give La-Z-Boy a second chance. I bought a sofa from them 3 years ago and within 1 year it ripped and the padding on the arms shifted, making it feel as if I was leaning directly against the wooden arm board. When I called to report the rip and the issue with the padding, customer service gave me the run-around and ultimately the whole process for filing a claim for repair was more of a burden than I felt like dealing with at the time. So, I lived with my disappointing sofa, until this past Memorial Day, when I decided to sell it and get another La-Z-Boy (like I said, a second chance). I don't actually have anything negative to report about the quality of the second sofa, because I have yet to receive it. At the time I purchased the sofa, the salesperson, so eager to sell me the item, said I would receive it in 4-6 weeks, but likely in 4 weeks (as they had noticed faster delivery times recently). It has now been 7 weeks and when I called to inquire about the status of delivery, I was told the sofa is scheduled to ship to the wharehouse next week (which would be 8 weeks from the time I purchased it). La-Z-Boy will then contact me to schedule a time for delivery some time after that - so some time after the 8-week mark. I called the store I purchased it from to complain that I'd been given a different timeframe for delivery. I spoke to two different people and both gave canned, apathetic responses about how the timeframe I was given was just and estimate(that's not what I was told when I purchased the sofa)and how delays like this are common when dealing with the purchase and delivery of furniture (again, not what I was told by the salesperson who was eager to make the sale). Neither person I spoke to took any steps beyond looking on the system to check the anticipated arrival date to assist me or provide any other redress. Had I known the sofa would not arrive for 8+ weeks, I would have gone elsewhere. I sold my other sofa almost 3 weeks ago (4 weeks after purchasing the new couch), counting on La-Z-Boy's representation that the new couch would arrive in no later than 6 weeks. I am now couchless and guests are sitting in lawn chairs in my living room! Regardless of the quality of the sofa when it arrives, I will NEVER purchase another item of furniture from La-Z-Boy. Judging from the other comments that have been posted, La-Z-Boy should consider a serious overhaul to its customer service approach.
