My husband and I bought 2 recliners from La-Z-Boy. Because their were not 2 alike, we had to special order it. When we got them, they were very uncomfortable and hurt my husband's back. We went to the local store requesting to have it sent back. We were told that special orders could not be returned. We were told that they would send an email to the corporate VP explaining our problem. I waited 4 days and checked called the local store again for information about the person they had contacted (in order to plead my case). Got the run around! After reading other complaints here, it looks like we have lost about $2,000.

I purchased a Lazy Boy Sleeper Sofa the Mckenzie 4/30/10. I thought I was getting a quality sofa bed, boy was I wrong..I have already had a mechanism replacement in November, and was told today 1/11/11 that another one is needed. I called the store on Virgina Beach Blvd where it was purchased and spoke with a so called manager and was told there is nothing they can do because it is attempted to be repaired. Lazy Boy, you will not prosper in this economy with this type of customer service. The name is fitting Lazy Boy. And to the hand full of customer service reps that are trained to lie, I feel sorry for you.

Lazy Boy is right...The name should have been my first warning! Hah! Purchased $2,500 sectional "Westport" sofa from Clinton, Connecticut store. Yup...the frame is broken in two places. Just discovered this when I was vacuuming under the cushions this week. Needless to say, it's going to cost me $99/hour to fix it and the parts are free. Huh, a piece of wood...You must be kidding me..... I can probably do it myself for free. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!! I will never purchase anything from this company again. Evvvveeerrr! I paid retail price for junk....Thank heavens for the internet. Now all these companies will have to come cocoa with the buying public or risk going out of business. C'mon, can't we do better than this?

30 years of use ~ I couldn't ask for better! I sure hope to find the same quality, comfort & durability with my next La-Z-Boy. Thank you. Robbin ~ Maryland

5 months ago I purchased an electric lift recliner w/heat and massage (~ $ 1.800) for my handicapped husband, who is paralyzed and cannot use his right arm at all. I had asked the sales rep, who happened to be the store manager, if the recliners are reversible for left-handed people. He told me they are not, but extension cords for the control unit are available, so I ordered the chair. When I got back after the delivery was made to get an extension cord, I was told there is non available. I was advised to tip the chair over, unplug the wire from the control unit, run it underneath the chair, although the cable is now too short, and there is no side pocket to store the control when not in use. It is not a perfect solution. Just a few days ago, the chair is just 5 months old, the control began to malfunction, so I called Customer service. The CS man came out today and replaced the control unit. I asked him again for an extension cord, he confirmed that there is none, buit told me all recliners are available for left-handed people, there is even a hole in the side of the frame to run the cable through. And the pocket can be customized to the left side, as well as the loop to hold the cable in place. Why are sales reps and managers so uneducated, obviously either don't know what they are selling or plane lie to their customers? I had another unpleasent experience after that with a sales lady, and I will NEVER, EVER buy another piece of furniture from La-Z-Boy. They can still make it right by replacing this recliner for a reversed left-hander, but I doubt they will when I read other customer's reviews here!

I recently purchased a Metro sofa. After it was delivered I looked it over and noticed the following: lumpy back cushions, a loosely attached strip of fabric under the cushions filled with loose staples, a pillow with a hole in it, and scratches in the fabric of one of the seat cushions. I let the store know and told them I wanted a new one. The manager was nice about it, and asked if I wanted a floor model so I wouldn't have to wait a month. The floor model in the store also had scratches on the cushion, and a strip of fabric with a loose staple. I looked at another store and it also had the fabric/staple issue, plus one leg was twisted. So they gave me a new sofa from the warehouse, one that was going to go to another customer but they didn't need it yet. It was supposedly checked over and "perfect." Well, I looked at it closely while the delivery men were present. It had a hole in the arm of the sofa, and a dark patch on one of the seat cushions. I had them put it back on the truck, and then called and cancelled my order. I have no confidence in Lazyboy furniture anymore. I am giving the furniture 1 star, but the customer service 3 stars, since they refunded my money including delivery.

love seat, recliner fell apart..service wanted use pay 79.00a hour ahead of time and would not say where they could fix it or not..

I was going to purchase two recliners today but after reading all these terrible things about how Lazyboy handles and treats their customers I absolutely WILL NOT buy not one thing.Shame on you Lazyboy. DON'T YOU KNOW WORD OF MOUTH IS THE BEST ADVERTISEMENT? Shame on you!! It sounds like to me you want to make the money from people but you don't want to do anyone right. Nobody has anything to say nice or good about Lazyboy. What in the world would I buy anything from you when YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE and do not do everything in your power to make it right with the customer.NO MATTER WHAT THE CUSTOMER IS RIGHT!! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD AND YOU MIGHT HAVE SOME CUSTOMERS.SATISFACTION IS NUMBER ONE.APPARENTLY YOU DON'T CARE AND THAT'S WHY I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH YOU!!!

Have purchased numerous La-Z-Boy recliners since the 70s. In those days QUALITY was evident. Today it is no where to be found. A very recent purchased recliner is nothing BUT JUNK--JUNK. I to have had the same experience as the prior comments of all writers. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER LA-Z-BOY PRODUCT DUE TO THE UNCERNED ATTITUDE OF THE COMPANY AND ITS DEALERS WHO HAVE THE SAME ATTITUDE. In our local area there are 3 La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallries. I was of the impression they were an arm of La-Z-Boy. WRONG WRONG. They are owned by a national furniture chain who has the same attitude as corporate. My recent purchase developed a disturbing noise. I contacted the selling dealer asking for someone to come to my home and inspect. The dealer emphatically told me to bring it in myself or PAY THEM TO COME P/U. I am 81 and did not want to load into my vehicle nor did I want to PAY TO HAVE p/u. The service department person called and verified the same. I did some inspecting on my own and discovered the cause was sorry workmanship in constructing the wood box frame. 22 inches one end and 23 inches the other.Should have been 23 both ends. I called service (lack of)and described the part. She advised a replacement part would be ordered and sent to my house. I could then BRING IN THE ENTIRE CHAIR OR PAY TO HAVE THEM. Wrong part arrived. The Newton Miss. plant apparently has NO QUALITY CONTROL. My last three have been from there and the entire chair, covering, frame, all show NO QUALITY CONTROL. To sum it up---=DON'T BUY LA-Z-BOY if you want a QUALITY product.

I bought both a sofa recliner and chair 1/2 la-z-boy. I have not had many issues with the exception of comfort the chair 1/2 is nice but the couch when reclining is very uncomfortable. After 3 years and spending several thousand the recliner on the sofa broke in half now the darn thing won't even close up. I have not been very successful in getting anyone to fix it. I am so glad I came upon this site because I was actually looking at getting another la-z-boy since they used to have a great reputation on there furniture.

My wife and I have to be honest in that the furniture ordered and delivered by Lazboy is the best of quality. Moreover, the store in N. Scottsdale AZ (Brian Williams) has looked after us well. What has annoyed us is the items that have been ordered by "L"s suppliers. On order are the following items: Carpet: VSN 362Y 10ft sq Paintings: VSN 4650, 4606 For which we cannot obtain any confirmation of order or estimated delivery dat. Brian Williams claims that with outside suppliers this is always the method. Well, if I communicated with my subcontractors for important work for my clients I wouldn't remain in business. I suggest STRONGLY that you contact Brian Williams (602)426 5292 ex 6830 and address the issue with him. We want to know where we stand and shouldn't be treated like 'smucks' because we've purchased close to $10,000 for Lazboy Brice Evans

We bought from a store in Rochester, NY "York Furniture Gallery". We will never do business with this store again. We have only put a deposit on our lazyboy furniture, and have no intentions of paying another dime to them. We found out later from another reputable lazyboy dealer that the furniture they supposedly were going to order for us is not even available in the fabric choice we made. When we contacted the store about the issue they just said they were a "gallery" and they could get anything. I don't trust them, and figured from all these reviews they would just send us whatever they wanted. I have not seen good local reviews either on this store. Buyer BEWARE...and make sure you read all the fine print before you sign anything because they will tell you the opposite things from what's on the form.

Have been chasing La-Z-Boy for a repair on my mother's recliner for years, expensive chair and not only useless, very dangerous. In an effort to recline the chair in a locked position, the recline handle snapped in half, cheap plastic. Secondly, the foot will not lock when it is reclined and the foot crashes to the floor, throwing the back of the chair forward with such thrust, I cannot let anyone sit in, let alone my elderly mother for she is very tiny, they could be thrown out of the chair. No response from their corporate offices. What a waste of time and money. Prospective buyers out there, never, never even think of purchasing furniture from this company. What I find to be so incredible is that consumer affairs, across the country, don't shut the company down with these consumer violations which according to this site are pervasive throughout the country. What does Life Time Warranty mean?

I too wish I had research reveiews before purchasing at La Z Boy. Customer service does not get back to you within a reasonable time. How they say that there is nothing they can do for you after you just spent thousands of dollars shocks me! I will not suggest them to anyone.

My wife and I have owned our sofa and coordinating chair for two years and two months. What a total dissappointment. The arms of both pieces of furniture are loose, the stripes in the chair don't match, the cushion has been repaired once by the store where it was purchased, but in a very poor manner. The tucked seam at the base of the right arm is also pulling apart. Poor construction seems to be the norm. That's it for Lazy Boy.

In 2007 I purchased a $1300 recliner. Less than 2 years later the mechanism broke and had to be repaired. It has now broken again, parts literally fell off under the chair for the second time. They charged me $75 the first time they had to fix it, I hope they don't expect to get paid this time, that won't happen. I've learned my lesson. I would have been better off going to Walmart and buying a $200 chair.

I cant belive how many people have the same issues I do re lazy boy. first.. this is the only review I have ever written.. so ... I bought 2 leather sectionals with recliners and the works-(june 2010) - over 9,000 $ total!!! thinking I was getting life time quality - and comfort-- what I got was the most UNCOMFORTABLE furniture ever!!! really!! and the sectional pieces keep coming apart to boot!! and I ALSO have THE WORST NECK AND BACK aches from fighting TO SIT ON THIS THING- FROM ANY SPOT what to do?? anyone wanna join me to sue these guys??? post here and we will chat....

Very disappointed with LA Z BOY-- thought the sofa recliners were good--the model in the store was comfortable--mine is not--the side seats lean inward. Even after replacing seats, the new seat is leaning also. When in reclining position, one foot looks at least two inches shorter than the other and my back tells me that I am "sliding" and leaning toward the middle of the sofa. Have to stick a small blanket into the "hole" to stay upright--real nice for a brand new sofa that cost about $1500. My back and neck hurt with the strain of "fighting" this sofa. And won't it be so appealing to ask a guest to just stick a blanket under your leg, honey, if you want to sit comfortably on my new La Z Boy sofa. But isn't the fabric pretty? And careful getting up,the mechanism underneath might cut your leg. (My leg scraped against the mechanism, causing a two inch cut--had to wrap all mechanisms with black electrical tape to prevent "future accidents". I am ready to donote this new sofa to Goodwill.

Well to top the poor customer service, the horrible fabric and the pushy sales people there are more issues. We were told and I quote "We do not offer a military discount because they are no different than anyone else". So on top of getting poor craftsmanship, on your overpriced furniture, I was told that our military personnel don't mean much to your company. Well they may not be different than anyone else, but it certainly gives your sales men/women the right to be rude and disrespectful to prospective customers. I would rather spend twice as much money on AMERICAN MADE furniture than waste my time or money in any of your stores. I will do my best to discourage any military member or family member from buying from this company. Enjoy the loss of another prospective customer! Your company needs some serious overhauling and remember that if it wasn't for our MILITARY MEMBERS you wouldn't have the business you have today!

Very Poor Customer Service. 1 minute after the drivers left I noticed that the coach and love seat were not matching. I called the drivers to pick up and they said I had to call another number. I called Customer Service and they told me that an "Inspector" would need to come out and inspect the coach. The "Inspector" couldn't come out for almost 2 weeks and only on a weekday when I worked. I called Chuck, the Temecula Store Manager and he told me that he is in sales and there is nothing he can do. I told him I want to return the coach and he told me that I would be charged 30% restocking fee, delivery charge and one other fee. Lazy Boy is not the quality store it used to be. Lazy Boy used to be a good quality name. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING FROM LAZY BOY. DON'T BUY LAZY BOY == there are so many other quality reliable stores to buy from.
