We purchased a lazy boy recliner sofa 3 years ago, and WHAT A NIGHT MARE. Sent first sofa back then store manager refused to reorder for me. 2nd recliner sofa I chose very expensive fabric. When delivered, it was never set up by store employees and many seams were not sewn tightly on top of backs. We have replaced 2 mechanisms and the backs have never set straight like they should. Why is all this expensive furniture STAPLED on frame and done very poorly. Will never buy another piece of this stuff again. I also discovered that the 2 matching recliner chairs I purchased didn't have any arm protectors or protective pads on bottoms. TOO late now. My cheap R&F stuff wore for 15 years and it only cost me seriously $400 for a 3 piece Broyhill clearance. Should have kept it.
No stars is the rating I give LazBoy of Lexington, South Carolina. I could write a long complaint, but suffice it to say they are cheaters and gips. DON't DO IT. DO NOT BUY LAZBOY FURNITURE. YOU WILL BE SORRY FOREVER.
I have owned my Lazy Boy furniture for more than fifteen years & have life time mechanisms on the furniture. I'm worried that the Lazy Boy reps in Eugene, Oregon are not going to fix the problems because of not having seen this type of furniture. I have already been given the run around by the repair man. I've read all the complaints and feel Lazy Boy has gone down hill and is not the quality oriented company it used to be. I used to fabricate furniture for a living and know quality when I see it. Lazy Boy is no longer quality product and I hope that the Attorney Generals in each state will look into their work and customer service ethics.
If I could give no stars, I think that would be more of a justifiable rating. I purchased a swivel recliner LazyBoy through Art Van furniture indirectly through a LazyBoys website. I was raised with Lazybody furniture in my parent's home and was always pleased with its impecable quality. As an adult I wanted the same quality. I purchased the recliner and within a month and a half of the day it was delivered screws seemed to fall out and then the frame broke from a terrible well job that was performed while it was built. I then waited six months for the "right" part to come, each time (even with photos of the part taken) I received the wrong part from Lazyboy. I am moving in a couple weeks and THANK GOD to the noble and honest people at Art Van furniture who had to played mediator in this debacle I was furnished with instore credit for the price I paid for my Lazyboy. Much to your suprise, I am sure you can already guess I did not purchase another Lazybody. Shame on your business for letting yourself go the way of the domestic auto companies and think the selling of less than par merchandise is adequate, you will probably also feel the fate they did as well. No thank you for wasting my time.
We spent more than $6,750 at the La-Z-Boy store on United Boulevard in Coquitlam, BC; we were pleased at the time that after ordering this furniture, they gave us $500 worth of Promotional Safeway Gift Cards. However several days later, the sales clerk called us and said they couldn't meet their delivery date of May 15th, for an Entertainment Credenza from Kincaid Furniture, instead the delivery would now be sometime after the middle of July. We told them that this was unacceptable, as we needed the T.V. Unit no later than their first quoted delivery date of May 15th. We told them that we would then look elsewhere for a unit. The sales clerk said she would talk to her Manager. Her manager contacted us and asked for 24hrs. and he would try to locate one (in-stock) for us, needless to say, he could not locate one. We then told him that we should then cancel this item from our order and we would look for another one. They (La-Z-boy) then told us that we would have to return $200 worth of the Safeway gift cards” or pay them $200 plus HST of 12%--- it is illegal to charge HST on gift cards, as any taxable items are taxed when the card is used.! As is noted above, La-Z-Boy could not accommodate our requirements for this ‘Item” therefore they are solely responsible for this loss of purchase. We have declined to return the gift cards and/or cash payment of $200.00 as we feel we have been unfairly requested to do so as we were not responsible for having to cancel this item from our purchases. In addition, at no time during our discussions with staff or manager were we informed that the ‘Safeway Gift Cards’, which we assumed were complimentary ‘customer appreciation’ for the rather large purchase order they obtained from us which currently stands at over $ 4300.00 less the $2,000 that we gave them as a deposit. We were not aware of any promotions being offered when we first came into the store. We consider this to be extremely poor customer relations, and a violation of the BC/Canada taxation laws.
My wife and I have been users of La-z-Boy furniture for approximately 40 years. Until recently, we have been very pleased with the service that it has rendered. For that reason, and in August of 2010, we purchased four pieces of furniture (sofa, chaise recliner-rocker, stationary chair, and a high leg lounger) from the La-Z-Boy store located on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh, North Carolina. Cost for those pieces was $3,506.89. On October 2, 2010, those items were delivered. At that time, everything appeared to be just fine. However, on March 15, 2011, after only 5 months use, the nap of both the sofa and stationary chair (ACK00082492520-004-001 & ACK0008240252-005-001) began to "slough off" in a number of places. Also, one of the cushions had a significant thread flaw. On March 17, 2011, Judy Hobbs, manager of the store was apprised of the problem. She instructed us to contact Customer Service and set up a time for someone to inspect the furniture. That was done and a date was set for the inspection. On March 23, 2011, the inspector arrived. He took numerous pictures and informed us that he would file a report, and that we should hear from La-Z-Boy soon thereafter. On April 6, 2011, after no response from La-Z-Boy, a call was made to Evelyn Rhodes at Customer Service. She stated that she would look into the matter and call back later that afternoon. On April 7, 2011, after no call from Mrs Rhodes, a call was placed to her. She stated that information concerning the inspection had been forwarded to headquarters in Michigan. She further stated that their opinion was that what they saw was normal wear and tear. In that my wife and I are the only occupants in the house, and seldom sit in the flawed area, There is no way the fabric could have been worn that much in only five months. How anyone can come to that conclusion is beyond belief. Further, I sit in the recliner (no flaw), and rarely sit on any of the other items. On April 11, 2011, a call was placed to Customer Service in Michigan. I spoke with a representative named Connie and told her I had not seen the photos taken by the representative and told her that I wish to have my own photos considered. She instructed me to send the photos to the following URL: cservice@laxyboy On April 11, 2011, those photos were sent to the above address. Today, after exactly one month, there has not been a response whatsoever to my email. Therefore, additional copies will be mailed tomorrow to the corporate office for their viewing. It is sad that I am so disappointed with a company that I have held in such high regards over the years. I am 76 years of age and my wife is 70 and we both sleep well at night knowing that we have always tried to do what is right. We paid for what we thought was quality furniture, and what we received was anything but that. So, why don't you do what is right and honor the warranty before its expiration date in just a few months, and resolve this problem without further delay. In doing so, perhaps you too, will sleep better at night knowing you have done the right thing. Any assistance you may provide in the resolution of this problem will be greatly appreciated.
I purchase a recliner rocker from the Duarte Lazboy store in APril, 2011. It was delivered April 21, 2011. It was immediately discovered that when the foot rest was lowered there was a loud bang. When I talked to the store manager, she first showed me that one needs to be a contortionist to raise the foot rest. She agreed to send someone out to inspect the recliner. A technician did come out and he said the loud bang that starts the neighbors dogs barking was because of the way the chair is made. He claimed that all of the recliner/rockers made that noise. Today I went again to the store and tested an identical recliner. It did make a noise but nothing like the loud bang mine produces. I wrote the company but received no reply. I wrote than again today. I read the reviews on the Corporate web page and they were all terrible. Too bad this company has gone to the dogs. They will not do anything about it so I can either sell it, give it away, or display it in my front yard as a notice to all to be aware. I intend to at least post these reviews and mine on Facebook and other sites. Do not buy from this company.
I brought a 5 piece section in April 2010. By October 2010, the chaise broke, the reclince broke and fabric on one of the cushions separateed from the seam. I called the store and they told me that the fabric on my section was on recall or something like that and La-z-boy didn't have enough fabric for my job, therefore they gave me store credit to purchase the same sectional with the improved fabric or select something else. I didn't see anything that I liked so I opted for the same sectional with the improved fabric and was told that it would take 10 weeks for delivery. I still have not received my sectional. But the thing that is bothering me is that they want me to pay over $200.00 for the better fabric! Excuse me, its not MY fault that the original fabric was inferior! Why should I have to pay for their mistake? The manager said that the company is doing me a favor my giving me store credit, I don't think so. I purchased the insurance so its covered anyway. I hope I get a response from La-A-Boy because I think its unfair to ask me to pay over $200.00 when I already paid over $3,000 for the sectional in the first place.
MY DAD IS 92 YEARS OLD, A WORLD WAR II PURPLE HEART VETERAN. I TOOK HIM TO BUY A LIFT CHAIR FROM LAZYBOY. HE FOUND THE CHAIR HE LIKED AND ORDERED IT, PAID $1700.00 FOR IT. IT ARRIVED AT HIS HOUSE OK, BUT SEVEN MONTHS LATER THE CHAIRS RECLINE PISTON STOPPED WORKING, SO WE HAD A SERVICE MAN COME AND CHECK IT OUT. HE TOLD ME IT WAS AN ELECTRONIC BOX AND THAT HE HAD TO ORDER THE PART/PARTS AND IT WOULD TAKE APPROX. 2 WEEKS TO RECEIVE THE PART. WELL WHAT KINDA OF REPUTABLE COMPANY KEEPS IN BUSINESS TREATING ITS CUSTOMERS LIKE THEY DON'T MATTER ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. THEY SAY THEY DON'T CARRY OR HAVE ANY PARTS IN STOCK EXCEPT IN MICHIGAN. WELL WE ARE IN CALIFORNIA, SO WE HAVE TO WAIT? MY DAD IS READY TO CONSULT AN ATTORNEY ON THIS MATTER AND I DON'T BLAME HIM. DON'T BUY LAZYBOY!!!
Your store in Northridge, California needs a new sales staff. Because of the poor service we rec'd at your store, we went over to Macy's at the Northridge Mall. There we found a beautiful, leather sectional that we just loved. We also found a wonderfully helpful woman to help us find the right sectional for us. The funny thing is, we initially went into La Z Boy planning to find the right sectional. We were passed on to 3 different sales people who really were not interested in helping us at all. On our own we found the Joshua and the Owen, and thought one of them would be perfect for us. Maybe it was too close to closing time or maybe we just weren't dressed right, but your staff just wasn't willing to spend any time with us. It seems that with the economy being what it is, your organization would value all customers and give them the respect and attention they need to do business with you. Maybe you should go hire that woman from Macy's to manage your sales staff in Northridge. Something should be done.
I work for la-z-boy in NC. I am happy and thankfull to have a job but la-z-boy is not the place to work at like it's made out to be.Some of the big dogs come and act like they know what their doing but have no idea what their looking at and think they know what to do.The upper management in Hudson NC have more VP's making big money than they need, but yet they cut the lower hands pay and even lay off some of the works to cut out money to keep paying the big money the all their so called VP's.It's funny how when people make it to be a big boss making big money how they forget where they come from or forget about the worker who do all the real work.
We bought two Lazyboy Recliners and when you release the latch to get up the sound is very loud and tinny. I will not be buying anymore Lazyboy Furniture. Maybe they are being made in China, or Mexico. The store we bought them from refused to even come to our house and check our com, plaint out.
Order a couch and 2 chairs in Jan. 2011. Here it is April 25,2011 still no word from them and no couch or chairs. I have called they keep saying it will be shipped out in next week,Call the next week they say the same thing,so I went in the store today to speak to a manger and she gives us the run around then LEAVES out of the store. This is my first and last purchase from La Z Boy. This is the store in Barboursville,WV. They are telling me that the guy that sold us our couch and chairs NO LONGER works their should contact us to update us on it. Does that make any sense if he no longer works their why should he be contacting us? Everything I brought up they had excuses for. WARNING DO NOT BUY FROM LA Z BOY. I wished I had seen this before because I would have never purchased from them.
Where are your recliners made?
Purchased a special order recliner 2/2/11. When it hadn't arrived by April 1,I called the Anaheim store, only to be told to be "patient",that Frank would check on it and call me back.He never did.I called the next week and was told again by Frank, that he would check on it and call me back....he never did. When I called again, I was told the chair had been made, but was 'lost' in shipping. Long story short....the chair was never made because the fabric I selected was unavailable.Lazy-Boy had over $900 of my hard earned money for almost 3 months, and I don't think that any attempt was made to find out what happened until I started calling very 3 days to check. VERY POOR customer service.
Well, base in all this coments I, and many of us are going no where. Can't even get in contact with their coeporate office, the have to stand behind this type of web base corporations. I have a Lay-Z-Boy recliner, 10+ years old, it looks like new, the new ones fail in the first month, service, it needs to be rename to something else. I just was told to call and they will add more filler material. They look so bad that I took one to the Goodwill and was told, don't laugh, "we will never sell that" and to drop them off by their dumpster. I deicided to do someting I did with some furniture that fail due to poor craftmanship like Lay-Z-Boy. I left all the stickers were they came, the contract, and all related paperwork. Set them up at our office waiting area for our customers to sit and read the documents while we prepare their taxes. We have a CPA firm. This is our free, live, advertisement for Laz-Z Boy. I think we save some money, back pains, and agravations to "our customers", base in their comments. Like I was told by their sales rep when I brought the issue, "I'm just a sales rep". I was just their customer. The option of NO stars shoud be added.
We have had our lazy boy couch with both ends reclining for about 5 years, the right side recliner has never worked right and the leather has faded over the back part of the couch. The right side recliner has gotten to the point where it does not even open. The couch is still in the same spot in the living room that it was put upon delivery. After reading the reports on the site I am sure we will get no response should myself or my husband try to ask Lazy boy to fix these problems. We will be buying a new couch, however it will not be a Lazy boy product. To Anyone who is even thinking about purchasing a product from this manufacture PLEASE DO NOT, YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR MONEY. I also am considering (as should anyone who has a product from Lazy boy) of contacting an attorney and seeing if there is any legal recourse that I can take against this manufacture as well as making a report to the better business bearour
April 1, 2011 My name is June O'Connell, wow, went on this web site to get the corporate office address. Now after reading all of the above complaints, I don't stand alone. My husband, and I purchased a sofa with both sides reclining. Also bought the Guardsman Leather Protection Plan! Second mistake! The sofa is three years old, I called about a tear on the foot rest, was told by Guardsman NOT COVERED it's on the seam. Then fill out another file for the loose mechanism, again NOT COVERED, it's not broken. Called the La-Z Boy Furniture Galleries in Stoughton Ma 781-341-2212 Spoke to Patty, the store manager. That was Tuesday March 29, 2011, was going to talk to her customer service people, and call me back, you guessed it, NO CALL BACK! If I had the time to stand out side your store, and warn others not to buy, I would. Your product is, as one put it, JUNK! I believe that all of the people that took the time to address the problem with you should have it resolved, as should my husband and I, wishful thinking on our part I'm sure. My husband and I will NEVER, purchase, nor EVER recommend your product to any family or friends. What happened to the Great quality once know as LA-Z-BOY.... Our top of the line red lather reclining loveseat has been losing it's color for over a year now. In fact, it's more like a "pink" loveseat in some areas. This is just another complaint after replacing the top and bottom cushion on the sofa twice for other reasons.. What a disgrace for a company to constantly receive these types of reviews and never do anything to "service" their accounts properly. Customer Service? Money Back? Are you kidding, "just go away" should be their new company motto.
Don't buy a Lazy Boy recliner unless you thoroughly check out the leg rest mechanism. We bought one that gives out a very loud "clank" or "thunk" when it is returned to the normal position. After complaining to the Store Manager, we were told that it is normal for recliners to "clank" or "thunk" when it is returned to its normal position. We have visited other furniture stores and tried out their recliners. Guess what? Not a one "clanked" or "thunked" when the leg return was returned to its normal position. When you test it, do it with your feet/legs still up in the air, not resting on the floor. Our recommendation is do not buy a Lazy Boy recliner.
