One star is overrated. They need an option for zero stars. I was hung up on by the manager, Eric Moyer, of the Wyomissing, PA location not once but twice! I cancelled my membership 2 days after my last billing. Due to the state of my pregnancy I can no longer use my membership and was told they would contact headquarters to see if I could get that last month refunded. I was called back and said it was done and my membership was immediately revoked. After checking with my cc company several days later and calling them back to see why it had not been refunded yet I was yelled at by manager Eric Moyer and told they were doing me a favor. After telling him not to yell and him not listening I yelled back and was hung up on. I called back and was hung up on again. The third time I called back another woman spoke with me and would not let me speak to Eric Moyer or give me any information on upper level management. As soon as you are out the door they treat you like trash. Not to say I was ever treated well while I was handing over my money. Glad to be out even if I lose my refund. Showing their true colors.
this is a horrible establishment. They will do any thing to try and bill you more then what you need to pay. They think they are doing you a service without really realizing it is "YOU" doing them a service by joining up and giving them your hard earned money. My card was stolen at their facility and now they are trying to charge me extra because they could not bill with the same card...DUH!! I have a corporate account and I don't think I am getting any savings. It is the same as if I was paying on my own. They are deceitful and they really don't care about what the customer thinks!!
Most of the LA Fitness centers I've used in the Minneapolis area pretty decent, the one in an area called Uptown seems to have shortcomings. There seems to be a bit of immaturity in the quality of management at this one. A bit of arrogance and an arbitrary and capricious manner of handling clubs policy and rules. You get the feeling that the character managing this particular location is the bosses nephew and he know it. Also, this club doesn't seem very family friendly. I would never take kids into this place, there is an atmosphere that just isn't healthy. Stay out of the sauna and showers if you know what's good for you. The location is very convenient, so I do used it, but I try to use other locations as much as possible. The 1 star rating I give is for this specific location only. Every other LAF I've been seem ok. Although I'd say you should still be careful about the family friendly aspects of all of them. That seems to be an issue.
I was a monthly member at LA FITNESS South Elgin, ILLinois - exercising and enjoying facility for past year . In June, 2011, "JJ" the personal training manger solicited me and my suster for personal training - 20 free sessions etct etc. Before I knew it, I signed a contract and paid $350 for a 1 year deal with $200 per month due for next 12 months. "JJ" never explained cancellatiosn or anything. In fact, I signed the contract electronically before I ever even saw it. long story short, i went for 2 sessions and realized I could not afford this. They said I coyuld pay them $1,100 and cancel it. I explained its because I can't afford it that I need to cancel. they could keep the $350, mu bad. They said it wasn't up to them. I called Rachel "worthless" who said she was a supervisor and could not cancel it - I had to pay the $1,100. She refused to give me someone else to speak with, but said someone would call. They haven;t. this place is a rip-off. My sister and I caneclled our $40 monthly membership. They'll probably file this against my credit report -- For What ---- LA FITNESS is a rip-off. Persobnal health -- noway - they are only about the money and have lost me, my sisters and my friends forever.
I don't know if what I'm saying will mean anything to anyone in the Corprate office. It is a shame to have a business and then to have such disrespectable people working in them. They are so rude. Or is this your policy? I was going to join but will not now as I would not wont to be around people like that. I have friends that was going to join also but desided against it. Why would you hire someone like this. Do you know what is going on? I guess we soon wont have an LA fitness in our town as no one will go back or rejoin. I know I don't want to be treated that way. I'm a Senior Citizen and it is sad for me to know what LA fitness think of the elderly. Or anyone as that goes. Do you check your empories out? They really need anger mangement. Course you know this will not be the only email. Something has to be done.
I just joined La Fitness not three weeks ago and I was going in thinking this is going to be different from Bally total fitness. Sad to say that it trued out not to be so different, after joining La Fitness I come in two days later for a workout and to ask about the training programs and the training manager signs me up for a training program and I ask him everything like what if I move, or want out of this contract? He tells me that if you move we cover the payments and if you want out you have a month to decide if you want to stay but after that you will have to pay 50% of the bill and am like ok , and he also tells me that all the information I needed is in the papers he gave. Wrong because I now want to cancel my training contract and no one is answering my calls and the one person that did tells me that I only had three days after my sign up date to cancel without any problem or bill on my side and to make things worse am no longer living in the area and I was told that I have to go back and speak to the same person that signed me up and no one else would be able to help me. So am stuck paying a bill for a gym that I can not even go to at all. Note to self La Fitness is just the same as Bally Total Fitness, their only after your money and nothing else because once they have your acct number your stuck with them for life..............
Was grilled to sign up with an LA FITNESS sales rep/CON ARTIST in SECAUCUS, NEW JERSEY when all I wanted to do was get a tour of the Gym and a price. The CON ARTIST kept me by her desk for over 2 hours (EXTREMLY FRUSTRATING). LA FITNESS cares only about $$$$$ don't forget they are like Car Salesman. IT upsets me when I even talk about it - they were extremely INTIMIDATING and BELITTLING regarding my weight. I had three people including the manager trying to CON me into giving them my credit card (HOUND DOGS). I fell into the trap. felt JAILED HAVING TO PAY $744.00 FOR BAIL(SUPER DISCUSTING). Once I joined paying $744.00 for 1 year, they scheduled me to meet with a trainer five (5)days later (REMEMBER YOU HAVE ONLY 3 DAYS TO CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP)met with the trainer 5 days later -SLICK SALES REP.(thought she was going to show me the machines etc.,so I could know exactly what I would be doing, NOT SO.)unfortunately it was to sell me a personal trainer for more $$$ insisting my membership was worth nothing without a trainer. Had me another few hours trying to CON me into a trainer . I requested my money back she then tells me it's too late you have only 3 days to cancel. They were slick in scheduling me for my first work out 5 days later. Never got the trainer only frustration. I will not be joining ever again get me once shame on you get me twice shame on me. I have a membership with BALLY'S for only $85.00 a year why I joined LA FITNESS Harassment. Have u heard of Arnold Schwarzenegger's saying I'LL BE BACK!!! - USE IT, WHEN NEEDED, WITH ANY CON ARTIST (LEave WALLET/PURSE HOME) I'LL BACK BACK.
I also want to say how bad customer service for La Fitness. In June we called and told them that we could no longer use the trainers due to 4 back surgeries. They ask that we fax them a copy of the doctors report and we did that on July 8th once we received it. I just called and they tell me that now they can no longer take a fax and that we have to mail it in and that they already took the payment out even though there were to stop that until the receive the report. I will never again use LA Fitness and everyone needs to stay away from signing a contract with them.
I keep having to get new trainers because they leave. So when I want a new trainer, I have no idea on their true qualifications and they don't wear name tags. Most of the trainers only use the machines and are just fluff. Also, I wnat them to show alternative tv than CNN. I am not a lib and I want equal watching time for conservative tv (Fox). FYI dudes.. I have truly thought about finding a personal trainer outside the gym and just start going to them and drop my gym membership.
Very upset by the fact that they charged us for almost one year. We stated that my husband was in military and they stated when we relocate they would cancel the membership. Never done, never offered to do it and needed to receive a letter to cancel. But, when we started they stated it was fine and if we had to leave they would cancel without delay!
I am extremely displeased with L.A. Fitness. When I signed up for the monthly contract I paid first and last month's membership fees. I called my local branch in May for instructions on how to cancel and I was asked my billing phone number and had to verify my first and last name...I was then told that everything was taken care of with the cancellation. It is now July and L.A. FItness has processed payments for May, June, and July, PLUS my "last month's payment". I called the corporate office and spoke with Jeff who was very rude the entire conversation, offered me refunds for June and July, but when I requested the refund for May because my "last month's payment" should have covered that he flat out refused, but told me that I could keep going to the gym until August 12th. When I asked to speak with a manager he refused again telling me "there are no managers in the Member Services department". Really, NO managers?! A huge corporate office that has NO managers?? His answer "it's not that we have no managers available, we have not managers at all", are you kidding me?! When I asked to speak to another employee he told me he cannot transfer my call and I would have to call back...again, REALLY?!?! So they have already charged me my "last month's fee", plus May, June, and July and now he wants me to hang up and pay to call back to speak with someone else, RIDICULOUS! I did call back immediately and spoke with a woman who would not give me her name and was just as unhelpful as Jeff was. I explained the situation told her that while I am getting June and July back I should also receive May because my "last month's fee" already covered it and I am being billed twice. Her response "I don't owe you anything and you don't even deserve June and July". REALLY?!?! It was your employee who told me everything was "taken care of" instead of giving me the correct instructions to begin with. She said it was "an unfortunate miscommunication" on behalf of their employee, but I should have read my contract. I told her that I believe that if I call a location for proper cancellation instructions and they tell me the cancellation is taken care of that it SHOULD be taken care of...why on earth after being told everything was taken care of would I continue looking into how to cancel??? She also told me that I should have signed in online for proper instructions of cancelling...again why would I do this when I was told everything was taken care of? Also, why should someone have to be a member to find out what the cancellation procedure consists of? The cancellation procedure should 1. be explained to perspective members prior to signup and 2. not require a member to have to fill out some crazy form and mail to the corporate office in order to be processed. Do I have to fold myself up in an envelope and get mailed to the corporate office in California to signup for a membership, NO, so why on earth should that be the only acceptable process for canceling? I am so unsatisfied it is ridiculous, I cannot believe that customer service is so unhelpful and that they don't take all steps necessary to rectify the mistakes of their employees. I will NEVER do business with them again and I strongly discourage anyone else from either.
People there only wants you to take out your money
very bad customer service well what do i expect when the manager it self has very poor service towards a new customer. didnt explain options of what membership they have to offer. i was excited at first to join the gyn but i felt that i was miss treated over charge me the enrollment fee. didnt tell me he was going to charge me first n las t months too i was thinking is included in the enrollment fee but no ,so i cancel in the 3 day aggrement. i just hope i get all my money back in a week he says!!!!
My Neice & I have been searching for a Health Club where We can go & work out in an comfortable atmosphere for the past few months! All the other Health Clubs will take the time out & give Us to the nearest Sales Rep., in order to reel us in!! They show us the Facility & Amenities, then its off to the races as to trying to sell Us the Highest Contract that We would be foolish enough to purchase! Its my job as a Aunt & Niece Team to give the Sales Rep. the hardest time imaginable, in order to see the real person. I look for People Skills because I've been in Customer Service for 25 Yrs.! I look for a Personable, Compassionate, straight shooter, eye to eye contact kind of Sales Rep.! My Niece calculates the money aspect of the deal due to her field of expertise being finance! (she's a walking & talking calculator!) Low & Behold!! We walk into LA Fitness @ Morgan Park location, & are greeted by the warmest two gentlemen We have met thus far! Their names being, Gerald Peden (Sales Rep.) & The Operations Assistant Jamone Banks! Mr.Gerald Peden Superceded My Qualifications of People Skills & was able to make Us and Offer that not even My Niece could refuse!Therefore We are now Members of LA Fitness!!
Foothill ranch needs a huge makeover. Tired of seeing naked people, how about some shower doors so people can have some privacy. Gross

Don't go to the one in LIndEnhurst its dirty n very hot AC sucks n the trainers r assholes no respect
No show instructors constantly.. Gym run poorly.. Kids are treated poorly at babysitting ! Parsippany Jersey so don't join
We need a club in Fairfax Corner in Fairfax, Virginia! No good clubs out here!
You can sign up on line, be billed on line, they will confirm your cancellation on line BUT you have to physically mail a cancellation form to California in order to cancel your membership. What a scam.
