The gym is a total RIP OFF!!!! They tell you upfront about a trial period and when you agree, they hit you with yearly dues and when you try to cancel or dispute, corporate office will not even assist or be accomodating to resolve the matter. Once they have your money, they totally ignore yuor requests. Also, you get to call and you never receive a call back and they certainly call back when you're not around and just leave messages of nonsense and no answer at all to your issues. Also, tried the training for a month and got to see the trainor only 3x since he always calls out and the other trainors doesn't seem to care. They just leave you on your own. What a Scam!!!
Marketing strategy is based on aggressive sales tactics not conducive to a friendly atmosphere. I actually almost came to blows with an arrogant manager. Their technique is to hold on to your license and when you try out the place and of course you have to get it back from a sales rep. I knew all this and refused to leave my license with them. They were arrogant and affronting with regards to respecting my wishes about pressure sales. Even after I promised to give the commission to the sales rep. Bottom line go online pay 9$ a week and try the place out that way..if you dont like it you will never have to speak to any of the snake oil salesmen. Also you can join online without ever having to speak with one of those snakes. I understand its their job and means to earn a living but at some point reading the client should be a priority and respectful towards a mutual and professional end. What I find offensive if that they see you as a walking wallet not a "member". 24Hour fitness, golds and virtually all other fitness facilities do not pressure you the way these guys do. Its not that I cant handle it ..its that when I say no I mean "fkg" no. I ended up yelling at the creep and calling him an asshole completely out of character for me..and the place was full of people. Then I tried finding a corporate headquarters to write a letter and of course there does not appear to be one for the public. Obviously they expect a lot of complaints and therefore the idea is to not provide a means to air them. The second in command told me their sales are way down...geese I wonder why. After speaking with several people the complaint seems universal...the pressure tactics are too strong. So I will put the place down because of that and never buy a membership..I will also through word of mouth pass this along.
Equipment needs to be checked!!! Noisy treadmill has not been fixed in 3 months and whenever equipment is broken it takes a long time to get fixed. I did tell one of the representatives at L.A. fitness that I should call corporate and the associate said it won't HELP!!! Wow what confidence your employees show in your company!!!!
my membership was supposed to cancelled when a personnal friend (virginia summers) and employee at the woodbury/marlton deducted money from my account and added somebody on my account with out my knowledge. after calling the main office and being told that my account will have the money returned and my membership cancelled it was not done. la fitness will be hearing from my attorny.
why did you take the trainer's last name off. It isn't personalized when you 're only dealing with a first name. FIX IT! ALSO, you can only see some of the scheduled appts before you have to hit next. why can't it open to a new screen so I can print it off.
We left LA Fitness last year due to constantl broken-down treadmills and other equipment, and we returned to Pure Fitness. As luck would have it, LA Fitness bought Pure fitness, and the equipment there began a slow decline until LA finally closed our gym and referred us back to the broken-down equipment gym! We have been there a few months now, and of the 22 treadmills (today), six were completely broken-down, many had erroneous heart-beat rates, a few did not incline, and ALL those operating "shook, rattled and rolled". Talk about flat-foot floozy with a floy-floy, they take the cake with the flap-flap-flap of runners' feet flapping away. It's no wonder that people wear those things in their ears --- to drown-out the noise! We have expressed our concerns to the manager from time to time, and he keeps saying, "You're the only ones who have complained" !!! Fat chance of that. Our concerns have fallen on deaf ears at LA Fitness.
All i have to say is stay away from LUCKY or HARPREET SAINI at the HIGHLAND PARK, IL location. He is a liar, and all he ever says is "dont worry ill take care of you" when really he doesnt give a damn what you just told him, all he wants is people to sign up so he can screw you over. He could care less about if people are happy there and when people want to cancel he tries to manipulate them into staying. And if you are a female, WATCH OUT. He makes rude comments and dirty remarks about them that are very unprofessional. STAY AWAY FROM THE HIGHLAND PARK, IL LOCATION.
Thanks for your unreliable trainers, and especially for charging me an extra month after my cancel letter. Convenient how I was one day late. was planning on returning in a few months, as work has me relocated for a short time. You just lost out on a family of 4....Yep, 130.00 a month lost due to your greed. I don't like being took, especially when I held up my end of the deal. Never missed a payment in 2 years. Easy money down the drain for you guys, and by the sounds of it I have a long line ahead and behind me with your customer service. OH, did you know your not the only ones in the business? Already have my alternative dialed in.
So disgusted with the Collegeville PA location! Went tonight to take 5:45pm class which was cancelled with no instructor as was the 7pm pilates and also the 6:45pm spin class. Not only that, but there are 7 bikes broken in the spin room plus numerous tread mills, etc. What disgrace this club is! With all the members you have, you had better get it together! Cannot wait till the Rascals gym nearby opens! Good bye LA Fitness! What a disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very impressed with the la fitness at shawsbridge. The team are friendly and go out of their way to help. The classes are good and the personal trainers are approachable and helpful too. We have had a new refresh and personally for the money paid this health/fitness club is really good. People in general seem to want more for less instead of appreciating all they get. For pool, classes, sauna, steam room and gym, the prices are very good.
Count them...HALF of their treadmills and cardio machines are routinely broken (but they JUST called the maint guy, he'll be in on monday. So that's why the same ones have been broken for over a month?!). So, finally get out of the house, it's already over 100 degrees out there, making time in my busy schedule to get to the gym, gym clothes on, kids in the kids club (don't even get me started on the kid's club...groos, and if I come in and that girl is texting, sitting in the same exact place she was sitting an hour ago when I dropped my kids off ONE. MORE. TIME...)....not a cardio machine open ANYWHERE, and the cruel tease is that the ones that appear to be open are BROKEN (some have signs, some don't, apparently you just have to get on, push start and hope it actually starts). I was told a the front desk "I don't know what to tell you, talk to so and so manager". Which I did, and was told that I pay a lot less for membership, coming from pure fitness, and that he'd give my number to the service manager. He then proceeed to tell me that I am welcome to cancel my membership...now. And if I continue to be "rude", he would cancel it for me right then. No, I was not being rude, however, yes, as a paying customer (discounted of not...I pay), I deserve to be able to work out when I come to work out! There should be operational equipment! Seriously this roided out douch bag that dowsn't even take his feet off his desk when I approach him with a concern, tells me I'm rude SERIOUSLY?!! I had actually looked at an LA Fitness years ago, and actually chose Pure Fitness because everyone at LA seemed rude. Imagine my horror when they bought my gym and the one I've been going to for years closes?! And now I'm stuck in this hell hole?! Ugh, this was today, and I am still so flaming mad about this!
Whatever your paying the person who does the class scheduling for Downingtown PA, it is too much. I have been to more than four classes where the teacher just doesn't show up. I have been told by the desk personal they they do not have the teachers phone # WTH? How can you schedule someone to teach a class and not have their phone number and how can you pay someone to schedule a class and a teacher and the class falls through. It isn't working very well at the moment.
I recently moved to San Diego and was invited by a friend to work out at LA Fitness in Eastlake,we both have small children, my daughter is 4 months. After my work out i went into the ladies room and saw a woman i had seen in the day care coming out of one of the stalls emptying out the used feminine pads and cleaning around the toilet then continued to cleaning the showers, i was a bit puzzled but that soon turned to complete disgust when after grabbing a smoothie from the smoothie shop there i walk into the child care and see the same woman holding my 4 month year old baby. I told her that i did not feel comfortable knowing that after cleaning the restroom,even if she was wearing gloves, she was holding my baby...public bathrooms have so many germs that not only adhere to hands but to clothes and i am completely turned off to this gym. After a great workout i was planning on joining,after knowing that the child care staff also cleans the bathrooms and comes back and cares for the children i will most definitely will not be joining at LA Fitness. My friend,who is a member, has also seem the child care staff cleaning underneath dusty dirty workout equipment. Instead of hiring a maintenance staff to clean they have the child care staff do it and bring back germs to the children. Completely unsanitary and unacceptable. I am so upset about this situation that i am also submitting this complaint to the BBB.
WORST WORST gym ever. They tell you anything in order to get you to sign up then bait and switch. Even once I cancelled my membership, they continued to call 5 times a day in order to bill me. Go to other gyms people, all LA fitness locations are the same, you see the reviews no 5 stars what so ever.
Never join LAFITNESS. I would say definitely not recommend my friends to join LA.LAFitness is a company of accessive greed and lacks moral scruples.
How about this...cancelled my membership in Oct. 2010...even received a letter of cancellation via mail. Didn't pay much attention to my bank statements until 2 months when i noticed that they withdrew a regular payment of $44. Thought maybe it was a mishap on their part but noticed again them continuing to withdraw money from my acct last month this time $47. Which now leads me to believe that they never canceled my membership in the first place which sparked me to call customer service about an hour ago...i have now been waiting on hold for an hour and 15 minutes now and still waiting
I left another gym to join LA Fitness because a friend of mine went to one of the facilities first in NJ. She said it was nice gym, alot to offer. I was currently signed up at another gym. The reason I left the other gym was because there was not enough equipment to go around and you had to sign up and wait. Well, this gym had more equipment but it wasn't any different other gym. Only difference you didn't have to sign up. Parking is horrible and you still have to wait on equipment!! They talked me into training sessions. It wasn't in my budget but, just like one of the other people who sent an email, the trainer "supposedly" gave me a discount. The professionaliasm of the workers are poor!! I had to stop because of health issues. I called to put a freeze on my training, and like the other person I was not told of any upfront fees!! I had a freeze for two months but I called to extend. I was told by one of the workers, "oh your freeze will remain until you say when". Well, after the two months were up,I recieved and alert from my bank that $160 was debited from my account which put my account in the negative. Again, I did not authorize the transaction. I was told my freeze would remain. I called the facility, spoke with the manager, who says he would reverse the cost minus the freeze fee. I am still waiting! Ecah day I call, I'm told in his system it still shows pending. Meanwhile my bank cleared both transactions!! If I do not hear anything by Monday, I will be putting in a claim to my bank as well. They are quick to take it out but give the runaround to give you back your money!!!
How is it I get my belongings stolen, and so the people at the L.A Fitness tell me to call corporate. Called Corporate and tell my story and the lady has this what do you want me to do about it attitude.... I mean damn really?? I just had my wallet stolen, car keys and house keys, phone....I have to change the locks on my house, cancel debit credit cards, listen to T-mobile jerk me on getting another phone...You reply you understand me?? know you don't I walked fucking home... driving is 15 minutes- walking is over a hour and half. How can you tell me you guys are not responsible, when my things were stolen at your location?
