1.Atlanta fitness center @ South Lake Mall, store number 427 does not provide a SMOOTHIE/JUICY BAR, which makes no sense to me. So the patrons have asked for a water/soda machine to quinch our thirst after being in the gym for an average of 2 hours. I was told 4 weeks ago that a contract has been signed with Pepsi BUT we don't have anything yet. So if you don't bring enough water with you to last through your workout you are S O L 2.I ask management to post larger signs in the ladies and men locker rooms, at the sauna door and shower area that patrons must SHOWER before going into the pool/whirl pool area because it is questionable whether people do, but by the dirt that build up in the jacuzi, I think I'm right that they don't -
YOU certainly can not bring anything of much value to the gym even though you lock it up. What proof do they ask for if you say you accidentally lost your key, they will just cut the lock off; how do they prove it's your contents.....its sad but people are opportunist.
I am very unhappy with LA Fitness - and I am going to start spreading the word - I am going to start with the military base in my back yard - yes that's right - I am retired USAF - I signed up for LA Fitness and I loved the idea that there was no contract. When I signed up I asked about the personal trainer and I was very specific about why I needed a trainer - "I want to use in equipment properly and I only need a few sessions to get an idea about how many repetitions and which machines. I made myself very clear. At the time I signed up for the membership I was told that at any time if I thought that I had to many training sessions that I could get a REDUCTION - this is not the case. I signed up for the personal trainer and the sales person told me to initial each statement and he paraphrased as we went along and stated that this is nothing more than exactly what we just talked about - well he left out the one year contract - he left out the fact that what I was initially was not exactly what we talked about - he left out the fact that a reduction in training sessions would be the result of a "buy out" which would only serve to preserve my credit score and that I would have to pay 50% of the balance of the training sessions and NOT get anything for it. I have spoken to the regional office here in Dallas and the Grand Prairie gym manager (I-20 Grand Prairie) where this membership was initiated. Your people are NOT interested in customer service. Their own concern is their bonuses and their commissions from these sales. The manager stated that he would make the recommendation but could not guarantee that the personal training sessions would be reduced to once a month. I made it very clear when I signed up - I do not need someone standing over me to make sure I do xyz - I have the discipline to do the workouts on my own. I just wanted guidance. I am very displeased with LA Fitness and I am going to re-post this email on the various military sites and various military face book sites. I am going to warn unsuspecting military members and veterans that LA Fitness goes from having no contract to contract when you sign up for a personal training. It is not sensible that you would have no contract for gym membership and then add a contract when you get a personal trainer. Everyone that I have spoken to so far has found the no contract / contract policy odd. And I am going to keep passing on the word. Anne Clore
I am one of those members gyms love to have....I hardly ever go...sometimes months inbetween visits....yet they charge my credit card without hesitation...but no worries...I signed up for it. But today I stopped in the gym to sign up my wife..there on the counter was a big sign that said ZERO Initiation fee to add a family member to your account. We sat down and said we would like to add my wife and they looked up my account and said that would be $29.95 plus initiation fee. I said the fee is ZERO...it says right there and we looked over and saw the sign from where we were sitting...He said they forgot to take the sign down...it was 6:30 PM....it had been there all day. They then tried to sell me the $34.95 membership for my that would come with Zero initiation fee...I said help me with the math but in 6 months and there ater you are charging me $5 more than if I agreed to pay your $25 fee you tried to charge me ealier...I asked to speak to the manager who was about 25 years old,they both told me there was nothing they could do....that offer ended the other day...I asked why the sign was litteraly 10 feet in front of the managers desk on the entery area where you sign in...he promptly got up and took it down....I said no worries I alredy took a picture of it with your employee standing right next to it...again I ask what they could do for me and they said we can not do anything...the offer ended sorry...POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR $25...NOW MY WIFE DOES NOT WANT TO JOIN. So instead of geting only $30 a month from me they could have been getting $60 with two people who rarely ever go...again can you say POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR $25...
Recently LA Fitness closed two nearby Anaheim gyms - State College and Katella and Broadway and Magnolia. Have they improved the remaining Fullerton gym? NO. It is the same dirty, smelly, need of repairs place they inherited from Bally's. There is ALWAYS something OUT OF ORDER - the steam room, cold water jacuzzi, lack of soap, showers faucets, missing tiles, dirty floors, etc. It is no wonder that the health department doesn't close the place down. To add to all of this, lockers in the men's room have been broken into - 3 that I know of in the past month - one being mine (today 9-3-12). The only thing of value taken was my prescription glasses. I learned a long time ago not to carry anything of value. To top everything off, the personnel just act as if it were nothing - they need lessons in how to please the customer.
THE DEERFIELD BEACH FITNESS CENTER HAS 9 TVS AND THEY ONLY TELEVISE CNN, MSNBC, AND NBC. THEY CANNOT TUNE IN TO FOX NEWS.... ALSO, I CANNOT TUNE IN TO 610 AM STATION, (CONSERVATIVE STATION) BUT I CAN TUNE IT TO THE OTHER STATIONS.... THIS SCREAMS LIBERAL BIAST. I HAVE REQUESTED THIS TO BE CHANGED TO SHOW FOX NEWS ON ONE, THAT'S ALL I ASK AND/OR UNBLOCK THE 610 STATION. IF THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS I WILL BLOG, FACEBOOK, TWEET AND DO ANYTHING I CAN DO TO GET THE WORD OUT THEY ARE BIAST. I MIGHT EVEN PICKET OUTSIDE THE GYM TO MAKE MY POINT IF THEY DON'T MAKE A CHANGE.

I received an email offered at rate of $29.99 a month, just pay first and last month. I signed up and came to the gym after work to pick up the bar code because I already paied online. The manager doesnt have my information in the computer when he looked it up in the LA fitness system. I asked for the customer service phone number - he said there's no customer service number?????? NO CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER ????? SO FUNNY
WENT TO HTE CLUB ON SUNDAY 8.26.12 IN CHELTENHAM,PA FOR SPINNING CLASS NO INSTRUCTOR FOR THE CLASS . I ASKED THE FRONT DESK STAFF IF SHE WAS COMING THEY DID NOT KNOW SHE WASN'T THERE. THE SPINNING BIKES ARE MALFUNCTIONING. THE HANDLE BARS ARE BROKEN. THE SCREWS ARE STRIPPED. THE SEATS ARE BROKEN, THE BIKES SWEAK. NEVER ENOUGHT BIKES. VERY POOR EXAMPLE TO ATTRACT NEW MEMBERS. THE PLACE IS DIRTY ALL THE TIME
Have been a member of the LA fitness in Lake Succes since it opened. We were promised the world. What a joke. The temperature in the spin room is about 80 degrees before the class starts. There is no air conditioning at all. The rest of the gym has no air conditioning at all. The spin bikes are beyond repair. The other equipment misses pins, or cables are busted. The place ia one big dirty dump. When you speak to the managers and they change constantly give you a bull story. This place is one BIG disappointment.
i belong to the la fitness harbor city, california. harbor city is a non white city, black brown and yellow people moved there in the 70's because the could not live in the city of torrance. all the drawings on the wall are white people working out. why is that? i have a problem with that. the majority of the people in that club are non white. black, brown and asian. you need to change that asap, or i will take my money elsewhere. i am sick and tired of the racism in this country. when will it change, after we have a race war?
Let me start by saying I am a peaceful person. At no time did I get angry or give any of the staff a difficult time. All 3 employees in this situation treated me like a number, not a person. No one was nasty, but they just had a "our hands are tied by corporate" attitude. I used to have a family plan but removed myself because I felt self-concious being too overweight. Have since lost weight with diet changes to the point that I felt good enough to really step it up and work out with a friend regularly (she's also a member). Tried to take over my teen son's unused portion of the original family account ( that I have been paying for-for years) but was told I had to cancel his account and either pay $85 initiation to re-start my own or no initiation but $5/month higher than currently paying for his account. I can certainly afford either choice but refuse to participate in such a scam. Cancelled my son's account (which he can still use for a month because they do not refund any money, ever). I should be amazed that they would rather lose $30 a month than waive an initiation fee and keep me at the rate I have been paying. However, I am not, because they are employees, without a vested interest, or financial risk. Their paycheck happens whether we are happy clients or not. I was quite surprised they would not even let me stay on a guest pass to attend the spin class. I had given my friend a ride and she was already in the class waiting for me to join her and class to start. My friend refused to stay for the class if I wasn't permitted to participate. She, her husband and their 3 sons are now looking for another gym because of how I was treated. I was originally going to write to LAFitness to inform them of the situation but after reading how each of the other locations mentioned on this site have been let go in cleanliness and safety, I am no longer interested in being a member of such an uncaring (about people and facilities) company.
The gym in Pasadena MD is not very honest, I recently lost my job and to cut expenses I put my account on hold. No explanation that there is a $10 charge per month to not even use the gym, not to mention if you have 2 people on 1 account they charge $10 per person. Now we are looking at $20 dollars a month for nothing. I was not aware that these charges were put in place and when I called the provided phone number that I recieved in a generic email to update my account I began looking into it, I spoke with a very nice and helpful person at what I believe is probably a third party billing company. He explained that I was due a refund, and that I need to contact the operations manager of my club. I called and first got a run around from the front desk clerk, then finally got ahold of Amanda N. who was already hostile and confrontational because she needed to actually talk to a customer. She then insisted I was lying that someone told me I was due a refund because the corporate office isnt open until 11am est. After arguing the only point she thought was valid after I recieved her employee ID 1898681 she disconnected me. This is not responsible business or helpful customer service, I guess thats what you should expect from children being put in charge of such an operation. My club is actually a very nice place and unfortunately I will not be returning due to this incident unless I am accomodated to my satisfaction, which is highly unlikely from the companies lack of proper leadership and customer care.
I recently inquired about a group membership at Georgia Roswell west 2 facility.The young lady Shanina was rude and difficult to deal with,her personality and attitude cost this company 100,000 contract.I refused to spend money with a company that allows potential members to be treated so rudely.I also witinessed the way she spoke to her staff.Unacceptable and unprofessional. I recently enrolled with the YMCA and We couldnt be happier
I have copied and pasted most of David B's post....3 call to corporate same thing signs down no repairs...I can go to Planet fitness for 10.00 month not 30 for a crap hole.... I've been a member at the Oxford Valley, PA location for almost 4 months. I'm about an inch from cancelling my membership.( I am cancelling) PLEASE ADD THE RATING OPTION: (0 Stars) This place is a pit.(scum) Now it's a pit, and management doesn't care. If you're looking for a gym, GO ELSEWHERE! Problems (in no particular order): 1) Broken Cardio Equipment. 15 out of 40 treadmills have been BROKEN AND UNREPAIRED FOR OVER TWO MONTHS! I have spoken to the local manager as well as called Corporate "customer service". Each time I mention the broken/unserviced equipment, the next day the OUT OR ORDER signs are gone---but the machines are STILL UNREPAIRED! Two days later, the signs start popping back up. Pathetic equipment maintenence. 2) THE HEAT WILL KILL YOU. Hey, it may be Pennsylvania, but it's been over 90 outside almost every day here this summer, and not much better inside. Yes, the a/c is on, however they either do not have dehumidifying capabillity, or it's broken. Seriously. It's like breathing thru a wet sock in there. TERRIBLE! We have had people pass out and need medical attention from the heat/humidity combo. 3) They added a large flat-panel TV in the weight area. It's now been showing static for 10 weeks. W.T.F? 4) The women's lockerroom is consistently wet, humid, smelly, and dirty. Always body powder on the floor. Looks like someone was trying to bread fish in there. Nasty. 5) The cardio equipment that works is not all 100% functional. Broken fans. Dust filled fans. Random broken control keys. Random machine stoppages. Broken heart-rate monitors. Very innaccurate heartrate monitors. 6) They have about a dozen TVs for the cardio area. They generally show three channels at any given time (e.g. CNN, ESPN, BRAVO, then repeat on next 3 TVs). For these TVs they only offer sound via local FM radio, using short range transmitters. The ESPN transmitter has now been broken for a month. No sound. Just closed caption. Way to show company pride in your facility guys. 7) There is a water fountain in the middle of the facility. It has LEAKED FOR YEARS! The rug near it is soaked and mildew-y. But don't worry, once a month they pull out industrial fans and try to dry it out. It don't work. 8) This should have been the top of the list....SMELLY PEOPLE!! Not a joke. I have belonged to a variety of high and low end gyms. This one is worse than ANY for personal hygeine. I have NEVER worked out at a spot that allows so many offensively smelling people to workout in TANK TOPS! Newsflash: ARMPITS STINK! Seriously not funny when the cardio equipment places people no further than 20inches from their neighbor. And the manager there is afraid to tell anyone to take care of obvious smell issues. Says "corporate says we can't say anything, because we'll be sued". This problem is probably rising to the point where the health department should be involved. Nasty. Nasty. Nasty. We have 5 guys that HAVE WORN THE SAME SHIRT EVERY DAY FOR A YEAR. And I don't think they've bathed in as long. F-ing disgusting. Common LA Fitness. Show some godd*mned pride.
LA Fitness De Soto Branch SUCK! The men & women Shower rooms are dirty, showers are not working, Bathrooms are dirty, dry sauna both men & women are not working for 6 months now. 2 floor exercise area is very hot, electric fans are all not working. Equipments are all dirty. We complain alot of times to the manager but no actions at all. All they care about is your money. I hate the De Soto Branch, but I'm stock here for 2 more years. I'm writing to the corporate to let ypou know what is happening to your De Soto Branch. What is the use of having a manager if all he does is chatting on the phone or just chatting online. WE DEMAND MANAGER REPLACEMENT. The lady manager in your closed Corbin branch was much better, please bring her back and assign her to DE SOTO Branch. REPLACE or FIRE the Pilipino Manager in DE SOTO BRanch because he don't do anything or do any actions at all. All the he's inside the small room with his cellphone or just simply playing or chatting online.

Today I called to change my membership to allow me to work out at multiple locations. When I called the associate (Tom at Winter Park, FL location) told me I'd have to cancel my current membership and enroll in a new one and pay the sign-up fee in order to change my membership. He also said if I wasn't happy about that, I could cancel my membership. YMCA here I come!
How disappointing to hear that LA Fitness is run so poorly!! As an instructor for over 10 years, I have been getting recertified through Ballys every 2 years. One day my check and my application comes back and they tell me they are no longer certifying or recertifying instructors. No explanation, no instructions where to obtain it and no apology for any inconvenience. As if that wasn't bad enough, I called to speak to someone about where I should go and no one has gotten back to me...FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH! When I heard Ballys was bought by LA Fitness, I thought maybe they would be able to help me. If they bought Ballys, then perhaps they would be taking over this aspect of the gym as well. But now after reading these terrible reviews, I'm even afraid to contact them because I'm almost sure they will be just as clueless, unhelpful and illusive as Ballys. How Frustrating!!
La fitness crescent springs is a joke. They lied to me about my agreement an some big boobed lady was rude an was totally dressed inappropriate an the GM was pushy an came off arrogant. The front desk people are very nice treated me with respect. The gym was clean an most the members were nice it was. But overall the other people that work made me an my husband uncomfortable. Advice to those considering going try another gym first because they will lie to you an get what they want an push you aside like you were nothing....
