good bye

I was a loyal HD customer until I decided to do a remodel of my kitchen. I evn hold stock in HD - not for much longer. Everything I did thru HD was totally screwed up and they never cared to make restiution for things that were clearly their mistake. I wanted out of an agreement becasue it was taking 6 weeks to get the counter tops I ordered that should have been here in less than 4 weeks. To break the agreement I had to pay 1/2 the cost($1200.00). I asked them in return to pay 1/2 the cost since they broke the agreement. They offered me a $200.00 to please me saying that was a lot of money. I said NO the $7000.00 I spent in the last 2 weeks was a LOT of money and they were insaulting me. I'm still waiting to hear back from the corporate custoer care center on some sort of resolution. I doubt I will get anything but I do know there are plenty of other places to shop and Menards will be my choice from now on. They lost a great customer but I guess there are plenty of us to go around. Please re-think you chioce when doing your shopping. If you encounter issues - Home Depot will NOT help you solve the problem.

i will never shop home depot

i went to the Peru Il store with a list of items I needed. The guy in the paint department was very helpful but in the rest of the store there was not a helpful employee to be found. They had a huge ladder blocking most of the faucet display and when i went looking for someone I went thru at least 4 departments and still didnt find anyone. Needless to say I only got the paint and Lowes will get the rest of my business.

Jefferson Store, LA

On 12/30/12, I went to the Jefferson Store to get a simple board cut for a closet. I drove 10 miles (roundtrip). When I got there, I was told: "The saw is broken, there is nothing we can do." The "Assistant" had no clue when the saw would be repaired. Four days later, I called the store. I was forever put on hold, then transferred to the "Manager." Instead of the Manager, I got a busy signal and had to go through the process again by redialing Home Depo's number. I complained to the operator. She did not find it necessary to apologize and transferred me again to a busy extension, called "Manager." By then I became very agitated with Home Depot's employees. All I wanted to know was whether the saw had been repaired, which was impossible. I called back a third time and chose a different number from the menu - #0 - "Customer Service." An operator (I don't know if it was the same one who was unable to help me before) answered, but instead of helping me, I was told not to "yell" at her. We argued for five minutes about who was doing the yelling. I politely reminded her that I was the customer, not she. She called it "abuse" and refused to help me. I spent 30 minutes on the phone accomplishing nothing because of some psychologically affected egoists who was instrumental in losing a customer for Home Depot. Anyone who wants to do business with Home Depot should consider another business. There are lots of building stores around, such as Anawalt on Sepulveda and Pico in LA.

Veteran's Discount Offer

I have shopped at Home Depot for many years and about a year ago one of your cashiers asked me if I was a veteran. I said, "Yes, from the VietNam era". She asked if I had a Veteran's ID Card. I said no because I am actively employed with an insurance plan, and I am not disabled so I do not go to the Veteran's Hospital, Therefore, I do not have a VA Card. She told me that I could take my DD214 proof of military service to the Department of Public Safety Driver's Licensing Branch and that they would verify my military service and send me a new driver's license with the "Veteran" stamp on the license. I did, and I received a new license with the stamp "VETERAN" on the license. Then, everytime I went to Home Depot and presented it, I would get the much appreciated 10% Veteran's Discount. I shopped exclusively at Home Depot. However, recently I went to purchase about $100 worth of supplies and presented the same License with the Veteran's endorsement, but was told by a new manager and cashier that they do not accept it as proof. They said I would have to have a VA Hospital Card or some membership to a Veteran's Club. To me that CLUB thing is invalid because many people can join them just because they were the dependant of a Vet. I have been verified by the State via my DD214 Service Record, bu tthey said you "Corporate" will not let them accept the State License with the endorsement. I went to another Home Depot on El Dorado and they accepted it, but went back to my local League City Texas Home Depot a few days later and again was refused. I since have gone to Lowes 3 times and have had no problem with their acceptance of it. I want to go back to shopping at Home Depot but won't if I get the musch appreciated discount elsewhere. Can you clarify whether or not you plan on having continuity about the acceptance of the State Driver's License Veteran's endorsement as proof of military veteran status? If so could you please send a memo out to all of your stores to advise them accordingly? I would appreciate a reply. Thank you very much.

Unattainable

I bought a Maytag washer in December It is supposed to be energy efficient. I cannot do a load of wash with enough water to cover the clothes without using the Bulky/extra heavy cycle. I cannot do a small load because it doesn't fill with enough water to even saturate the clothes. It is supposed to be energy efficient but it takes 67 minutes to wash my clothes, more if I want an extra rinse. I have written to the company and the store and no one responds. I am now going to the attorney general.

Monrovia Store Horrible

I have spent over $7000.00 in material and tools at Store 6629 Monrovia, CA. this year and they have no clue who I am, they should have some type of system to track their high paying customers and make special deals for us from time to time. I understand that hiring the disabled is a good thing, but sometimes they should not be on the sales floor in the electrical dept. You have a women named Alyson, what a waste, she was pushing a cart full of electrical material, putting it back on the shelfs, I watched as she put it in the wrong place time after time, she totaly ignored me, then all of a sudden she looked around and saw that there were about 6 people in isle 5 looking for help and she walked away and started to dust the shelfs in the lighting dept, then slowly disappeared from the floor... I have seen her do this many times over the last few months, she is like Hudini. I talked to several people in the Electrical Dept and a couple of the so called Dept managers and I was told that the store can not do a thing about it, if they say or do anything to get her out of the Dept. she has her Atty. brother draft a letter and that makes them afraid of her. Come on folks she makes $20.00 an hour for ducking work and really not helping upsell Electrical products. The store need to get things corrected soon, I even talked to John the Dist. Mgr. what a waste of time it was to talk to him, nothing happened. I went to the Tool Dept. yesterday 12/20/12 with an ad from Harbor Freight for a Generator, the lame assoc. said they could no match the price, it wasn't the same brand. I'll call the Corp. office and ask them to honor the ad and if not they lose $289.00 plus the price of a new battery drill. I will be more than glad to give Loews my future business, only use H.D. in a case of some emergency. I can't see if Home Depot even reads or addresses any of these comments, for every 10 complaints there are another 100 not voiced, tell all your friends th post every negative experience or positive they have with H.D. maybe then they will address their big problems once and for all.

military discount

i have been a customer of home depot for many years, and now purchase most everything from lowes, the reason being that i receive a military discount from them and my id is not recognized at your stores. i had served in korea as an active combat infantryman, and received the purple heart . your policy that you have in the stores is fto give the discount to any one presently in the military regardless if he is in office or administrative or in the active military or in the reserves. i feel that your policy shuns the veterans of wars that have served for there country. with that type of policy i will now buy elswhere ,and hope every veteran in the united states does the same.

Spirit Delivery Service (horrible)

The employees I encountered at Home Depot in Clifton Heights PA were wonderful, but the delivery service is a deal breaker. Below is my horror story regarding Spirit Delivery Service. I purchased a dryer on 11/23/12. Delivery was scheduled for 12/4/12 by Spirit Delivery Service of Philadelphia. The delivery person did not have a cord long enough to install the dryer, so I did not sign for the dryer and the dryer went back. The second delivery attempt was today 12/8/12, I waited another 6 hours and this time they did not bring enough venting pipe! When the driver told me he did not have enough vent pipe (please note that I had 8 feet of vent left by the driver of the 1st delivery attempt), I called the Home Depot where I purchased the dryer hoping they would have a solution so I could accept delivery. A manager named John spoke with the driver and the driver told him he could not install the dryer. When the driver got off the phone with the Home Depot manager he told me if could have installed the dryer if I had not called Home Depot (what?) amd the dryer went back:( So I headed to the Home Depot to reschedule and was given the extension arms by the manager. Now, the 3rd delivery is scheduled for 12/181/12 which is almost a month since I made the purchase. Spirit delivery service does not come prepared to complete the deliveries they are contracted to do. Since all houses are different, why do they only bring 4 ft cords and do not bring extension arms for vents? Be prepared for all situations. Could it be that they did not feel like bringing the dryer down to the basement? I provided the basement location when I purchased the dryer. So in the end, I still do not have my dryer and I wasted 2 days of my life that I will never get back!!! A co-worker of mine purchased a dryer from Lowes 4 days ago and accepted deliver today and is now doing her laundry! Good choice she made huh. I hope the 3rd delivery is successful, either way, this is the last purchase I make from Home Depot because the delivery process is completely horrible!!! I'm guessing I will wind up having to get a refund from Home Depot when the 3rd delivery attempt fails and then I will head over to Lowes. thanks for the ulcer!

ROOFING ESTIMATE - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME

I requested a roofing estimate from Home Depot, Oxford, MA. They sent out "salesmen" who showed up with a clipboard and tape measure, no ladder. Apparently, they don't go up on roofs, it's too dangerous and it's not their protocol. Say what?????? It turns out they don't "repair" roofs, they only install new ones. How the heck could they possibly give an accurate estimate without going up on the roof to see what's up there and what the issues are. NEVER AGAIN! TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME to think I'm going to meet with roofing contractor and get a salesman, ridiculous!

Don't use HD website

Their search parameters are completely wacky and even customer service couldn't find online what I was looking for (which they carry, it just can't be located). What is particularly offensive is that their online ordering doesn't access store inventory. Seriously, HD? There are a lot of out of work programmers that can fix that sorry mess you call a website. And your "customer service" people are clueless.

Flooring

Went to the Home Depot t discuss flooring on 11/4/12...gentleman came to measure on 11/12/2012 today is 11/30/2012...still not install or return calls from the No Kingstown, RI store...WORST SERVICE EVER. Promised install prior to Thanksgiving, removed the carpet on 11/16/2012 and still have plywood flooring inmy living room.

Door

Went to buy a front door, we were told a carpenter had to come and take measurement. carpenter came and wrote all measurements. We were charged $30.00 for the carpenter to come to our house. When we ordered the door, they took the carpenters notes and the door was ordered. 3 weeks later we recieved the door. The door was not correct, it openrd the wrong way. We were told to go look at another door in stock. We told them we wanted the same door, it took them 3 days before it was ordered. Door had to be re ordered, called today Nov. 28th and we were told it will be shipped to Home Depot store # 6984 till Dec 3rd. We are thinking of canceling our order friday and taking our business to Lowe's. Very very disappointed.

Poole

We purchased a GE Refrig. back in August or Sept. it was set up for delivery on Nov. 11th, no one called us until the 11th to tell us it was not in yet. So now it is in and we can not get anyone to work with us to get it delivered. They came out today at noon, it which I or my Husband could not be there and now they are telling us we can not get it until Dec. 8th. Home Depot has to be the worse Company to buy anything from, You should not be in any business that has to do with Customer Service, because you suck at it. We will never buy anything else from Home Depot.

worst service

I bought a lawn equipment which come with a one year warranty then I purchased an extra two years of warranty it stop working after one year and they are telling me that they cannot do anything for me, and that the receipt was faded. I am a member with the home depot for over 15 years and when my card expires that will be it good bye home depot .... Hello lowes

Don't buy ryobi from Home Depoit

Nine months ago I purchased from HD three new 18V batteries for some of my ryobi tools. Two of the batteries will not charge now. Took the battries to HD expecting them to replace them as they were still under warranty. HD said I had to send the batteries to the manufacture along with a tool to use for testing. Bottom line I purched the product from Home Depoit and I expect them to stand behind what they sale. Go to Lowes, forget HD because of poor customer support!!!

delaminating plywood

i purchased 19 sheets of plywood for a building i am constructing for a new shop. the day after it was installed 5 of the sheets started to delaminate. i contacted home depot immediately and was told to write it up in a letter. this letter was given to the manager at the holly springs ga store. he said someone would contact me immediately. 6 weeks later a customer service rep called me at 7pm. he said my claim was denied. he told me to take it up with the manufacturer. worst service i have ever experienced. hello lowes.

Thank you letter

On Nov 20 I discovered that my separate freezer in my garage had failed. The food was beginning to defrost. I went directly to the Avon Commons Home Depot and purchased a new freezer. In order to save the food in my home freezer, the manager, Tony Randa was kind enough to allow two of his workers to deliver it and help me install it in the garage. The two workers were Kevin and Thad. I wish to commend the help and assistance by all three employees to help a person in need.

Worst service of my life

After attempting to order stairs on the home depot website, the request did not go through due to technical difficulties on the website, after calling to make the order that wouldn't go through ( I first asked the worker if it went through and he said no) I replaced the order. Come to find out, both orders had been put through which put my home depot card at max. As soon as I found out that both orders were processed I called to address the problem so only one would be shipped. They said I was in the wrong by taking too long to call. After three days of attempting to talk to anyone I could to fix the problem, they still have done nothing, thanks to them I cannot order the windows I needed and now I have to put my construction project on hold. They did not let me take the customer survey at the end of my call either. I will NEVER go to home depot again.

customer support

Never in my advanced mature life have I encountered such inappropriate behavior and gross job performance, from all (5) of the customer reps and supposed supervisors that I had the misfortune of dealing with. I was consistently put on hold for up to one hour and 20 minutes, and still was not provided with answers about my order. I was told multiple times that they could not check with their own warehouse for answers, and could not receive answers from UPS about shipping, which I did receive in a 5 minute call to UPS tracking. I was told that the order issues were my fault, they did everything right, and they would take the 10% credit on a second reorder and apply it to the missing item from the first order. That to me is lying and stealing. I paid for the entire order and yet did not receive the complete order, and Home Depot felt that it was ok to cheat customers. I never received any documentation that they had which validated their stance. I was constantly told and insinuated to that I was wrong, lying, and should grateful for being lied to and cheated. I love the overall store and customer service at the store, but the individuals at customer support in Atlanta, I will never again deal with them, I will call corporate headquarters at my expense, to seek solutions to my order problems. Terrible, terrible, way to do business.
