I've been a gamestop customer and powerups reward member for years now and recently decided to redeem 20,000 of the points that I had accumulated on a filing for $20 off the purchase of any pre-owned game, so after 30 minutes of looking through all the Xbox 360 games I decided to go with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which I took to the counter and presented my cupon, the game @ $17.99 ended up being free. I took the game home and started playing, and really enjoyed it until, at about 5-6 hrs of gameplay I hit a glitch in which my H.U.D. disappeared, I thought it might have been something in the game that I did to cause it so I continued to play, expecting it to return after the completion of the mission, when it didn't return I started checking online and it turns out that it is a glitch that was never patched in the game, this glitch removed my mini map, my directional indicator, my weapon and ammo count and even my aiming reticule. Needless to say the glitch made it very difficult and unenjoyable to play the game. I took the game back to my local gamestop to swap it out for a different game because I had only had it for a couple of days, and they told me all they could do is exchange it for a different copy of the game (which I did try to no avail) I spoke with the store manager who told me that because I had used a coupon that had effectively made the game free and was a one time use thing that there was nothing he could do for me, that I could try erasing all my game data and starting over, which as a taker was rediculous, putting in six hours only to have to erase everything and start over, I stopped playing Mario years ago but thanks. I called the customer service department of the corporate office and the man I spoke to told me the same thing, there's nothing they can do for me. Wait a minute, let me get this straight. So after being a customer of your establishment for years, spending thousands of dollars in your stores and using these rewards points that you offered as an incentive to get me to spend more money in your stores, basically you're telling me that I'm out of luck and lost those points because I bought a game with those points that doesn't work and now because I used those points that u wanted me to use there is no way that anyone can help me fix this situation. I find the whole situation rediculous and am so infuriated at their complete lack of any attempt to compensate a long time customer that I'm seriously considering never shopping at gamestop again.
One of Gamestop's selling points for used games is that they can be returned within seven days if you don't like the game or are unhappy with it for any reason. Well I've had a GameStop rewards membership for a few years now and I've spent a lot of money on games, several consoles, several pairs of turtle beaches, controllers and many other items. I'll occasionately return a used game within seven days if I don't like it and get another game instead. This month I returned a used game twice in a row because I was unhappy with both games and the girl behind the counter told me they have a new policy in effect that only allows a customer to return a used game twice in a row then the third time it can't be returned. It was clear that she wasn't being honest with me because exchanging the game for another was a choice of mine. I also had the choice of getting my money back, then turning right around and buying another used game which I would have the option of returning within seven days if I so choose. She replied with "well, you could do that.. But.. You couldn't buy another game from us today. You would have to come back tomorrow." I called other GameStop stores in the area and asked if they had a policy that prevented the customer from exchanging a used game within seven days more than once or even twice. Their answer was "NO". As I expected. I wanted to contact their corporate office but when I try the link at the bottom of the page where it says "Contact Us" I keep getting a message saying it can't be found on this server. I just wonder if this happens to everyone who tries to click on the link.

The game would not play. Gamestop employee basically told me I t was my fault and I should have the service plan. I am out of my money and I left the scratched up product for them. I went into the GameStop in Crosbh, TX. And I brought my Xbox 360, keep in mind, 1 year old; 8 games, 4 of which were unopened. The following were (CoD WaW, MW2, Tony Hawks Project 8, and Halo ODST) the other 4 were Halo 3, CoD 2&3 and Fable 2. With all that they only wanted to give me $35. Every GameStop I have ever been to always wants to give me such a small amount of money ($5-$10) even if it's a new game that is still selling for $50-$60. Even if it's unopened! If they were to change policies and give around $25-$30 for newer games (i.e. 3-6 months old including unopened ones) and $10-$20 for older games (I.e. condition, how old, etc.) I'm sure there would be a lot more satisfied customers.
the gamestop here in mckinney texas off highway 75 needs some better employees to run the store..the guy with the bald head and big nose has an attitude problem.and this isnt the first time i got treated like crap.id rather stay home and spend my money on gamefly.......
I went to gamestop a few days ago so i can trade my $15 game back and they said the best they can do is give me $4 and i didnt evven have it for over 30 days this gamestop is in panama city mall and i was Mad!!!!!Why would the give me less than i payed other gamestops i went to does not do that but this is the only one that does that.I was gonna get MW2 for $5 bucks more but i guess i cant now
I worked for Gamestop for 6 years, and everything I have read here is so beyond true, but it's just the tip of the iceberg....I wish I hadnt signed a confidentiality agreement, because if I told you all that they do to scam your money you would be sick to your stomach. BUT they have monopolized the gaming industry without very many alternatives, more so in some states than others; so as far as I'm concerned until another Game store opens up and actually completes I guess we are all gonna have to accept it.
A month ago I was at the torrington connecticut stop. When I walked in one of your employees was fondling a girl by the back of the store.. I WALKED OUT.. A few minutes later I walked back in to find the same guy still all over the girl.. When they stopped he helpped me I believe his name was Jamal or Jamar.. I don't feel this was appropriate manner of a manager. Plus that there are kids that had been in there at that time..
My son went to gamestop on haggerty in commerce twp michigan to buy a refurbished ps 3 and 3 games. They preauthorized his debit card 3 times for the system draining every potent from his account and told him sorry but you can't have your system. They took over $800.00 from his account leaving him broke and would not give him his system. Can't wait to talk to a lawyer on monday!
manager steve at tukwila wa. not only did not honor the 7day unopen games same as cash but he lied to me and said he cannot give me a coporate check for my games that i try to return that corporate do Not give out corporate checks anymore and i was sent away to do my return at another store location and they said that they never heard about not giving out corporate for returns... im stating a overseas business and i buy about $1000.00 worth of games every 6months. and after that dishonorable lying manager Steve at tukwila wa. im never giving gamestop my business. i think the 1 star i gave as a rating is too much. you dont deserve a star at all!!!
The gamestop at fair oaks mall in fair lakes, virginia will screw you over. They have done it to me three times now. The most recent one is when I pre-ordered final fantasy 13-2 no one told me I needed to receipt to get the special content!!! I know I don't NEED the extra outfits and weapons but I should have gotten it. I called and asked them about it and the girl really said, "OMG sorry, yeah, i just started working here when that game came out and I accidentally didn't tell a lot of people about it, sorry." I give them points for owning up to their mistakes though.
Dear Gamestop headquaters, Today at was at a gamestop store located in Gambrills Maryland.I was searching around for games.I found MLB 2K12 for the Xbox 360 system. The price of it was 59.99 which was the most outrageous price for a sports title that I have ever seen In my life. So I go to the guy at the register. I asked him if they had the same game but used.He said that they had 1 copy but it was on trade hold.I asked him what is it. He said that someone traded in the game and that they had to hold it for 30 days. The guy did not even tell me how long i had to wait. I think this rule is very stupid and the person that I talked to ont the phone said that it was a pawn shop law.I think that that was a le and very igneret. Always make sure a game is not on trade hold before you get to the store.
my mom bought me a new slim ps3 320gb model, was told she needed the 1 yr warranty since they only come with a 90 day warranty. nothing but lies just to get $40 more. I will never again do business with this store and all my friends have agreed to do the same. hopefully these stores will go the way of Blockbusters....closed for good!
Every gamestop that I have been to is great. There is great customer service and they are on top of everything. Everyone complaining needs to stfu.
I am sad to say I am now boycotting game stop I loved this store, but I recently tried to apply at the local game stop in my area and all 7 times I called to check up on my application they kept telling me that the manager had not looked at applications yet. Today I walked in there just to check out the games and noticed they had hired a male.... what does this say to me?? That I am female and I simply do not get a chance. And I've been told by a lot of other females that this game stop just won't hire women. And now I see it to be true. So long game stop.
I purchased a 1 yr Warranty with a used game system, I came home and the game system would not read my games, I took it back under the warranty and was given a 2nd used game system, AND then I was told I would have to purchase ANOTHER 1yr warranty to cover this unit!!!! ????????? WHAT THE HELL??? Im suppose to have a 1yr warranty and all my transaction made within that warranty should be covered for the 1yr!!! IT MAKE NO SENSE THAT I HAVE TO PAY ADDITION $20 for another warranty, I already purchased originally... You are trying to RIP me OFF for another used system!!! This is FRICKEN CRAP!!!
Bought a used game...one that now requires additonal $ for new activation code for Xbox live...no problem eh? Bought points at Gamestop...receipt said additional instructions for activation code would be emailed within the hours...no problem eh? It didn't come in an hour...nor overnight. Called and after a 33 minute phone call told that it was reset...absolutely no apology....not even an "I can relate to your disappointment or your son's disappointment." Yes I got the code...what a hassle. An apology goes a long ways 4 good customer service. A $5 off your next purchase for your inconvenience would have been even better. My response= Mom will not be taking her 3 kids to gamestop any more. We will spend our money at your competiton. Have a nice day.
I went to gamestop and bought a disc scratch cleaner. It said and the gamestop manager said it worked on any scratch and every but it did not. It broke my xbox. I want that out of the store unless it works
Hello, I'm curious to know why Navy Federal Credit Union blocked all purchases from Gamestop. In my opinion it's kind of a big deal due to the fact that tons of military personal use it not to mention spouse's and dependents. I called Navy Fed and had a 2 hour conversation about it and the only excuse was "fraudulent charges". I would really like to get an answer on this because as of right now I had to call my bank so they knew I was going to payoff my vita. This is my last purchase I will ever make to Gamestop and I like my bank more than the store. If anyone has a reason for this or knows what I can do to fix it besides changing my bank I'll do it. lildevil629@gmail.com
Bought a game from the mall Game Stop in Dublin, when I opened the game it had finger prints all over it. I simply asked them to clean it for me. The guy behind the counter told me to do as he does, he then licked the game and wiped it on his shirt. That is not only disgusting but rude. I will be paying the extra money for Plug and Play's games from here on out
