I had to purchase a nasal spray from store #0410, I had a coupon printed from coupons.com and the manager (cashier) refused to honer it. I said besides this Family Dollar stores being a total mess, dirty, and they even don't know what coupon to accept or not. sad that this company called Family Dollar.
I went to the dollar store in council bluffs iowa, I have never had such a rude cashier to my 7 year old son because he didnt want his toy in a sack and she was too busy talking to other people to pay attention to him
I tried to mail my DM from another store and some some reason did not go through and thats why I am writing to you. I worked for Family Dollar for 3 days before the snow and ice came. I feel I was not given the chance to prove myself a good worker. One Monday and Tuesday no other employees showed up at work with the exception of myself and Casey the Assistant Store Manager. On Tuesday I was there at 7am however, Casey did not show up until 8:30am. I do not feel Casey did not train me right nor do I feel she was fair. She only told me once and half of the information on reading shipping labels. The first truck there were approximatele 4 signs on the uboats and she only told me once where freight went. The second truck other thas some signs, I was not given any instructions and when I asked Casey she either ignored me or said it does not go there. Casey decided since no other employees showed up to put me on the register. She explained some of the buttons but was more specific with the yellow and red. She did not have me watch her for a few minutes with customer orders just put me on the register. I thought I was doing well on the register. After words to count down I counted only once took about 10 minutes. She counted everytime after that. I never saw the outcome. When I ask a question sometimes she answered of just looked at me. In conclusion, I do not feel like I was given a chance and would like to transfer to another store in Kings Mountain or possibly Cherryville with a manager with people skills and fairness. It takes more than a couple days to properly train a valued worker. I believe I can be an asset to Family Dollar. If you have any questions, I can be reached at 704-718-2044 or 704-739-6689. Thank you for your time. This computer has given me some problems and it is possible that my first e-mail was sent premature.
I shop FD at least 3 times a week, it is normally a good experience. Today I encountered the worst shopping experience ever at FD in Sand Springs, OK. I was looking at an already open package that contained a shower curtain. The cashier walked by me and saw me looking at this curtain and said "I know your going to put that all back in there", I looked at her and said, yes, it was already open when I picked it up so I wanted to see how many rings it took to hang it, she then said, "12 it takes 12, that's why they sell them in sets of 12", oh, ok I replied. After my shopping was completed I went to the register, there she was. I proceeded to tell her, I found what I was looking for, I would have bought the already opened package but the hooks were missing, she then proceeded to tell me "it doesn't come with hooks", I turned the package over and showed her, it comes with hooks to hold the swag back, and you obviously have a problem with me. Her response, your having a bad day and taking it out on me, we proceeded to go over the conversation in the sole over the curtain and she sais to the lady standing in line behind me, "I just asked her to please put all that back, didn't I", I looked at her and said, really, your going to bring your other customers in on this, she replied "well she's my friend", I said, oh, so in order to be treaded like a customer should be treated, I have to be your friend? As she totaled up all of my item and gave me the price, I said, NO thank you, you can keep it! I am at BIGLOTS now to get what I had originally stopped in to FD to buy. I know that I will not make or break this large company, but I can assure you, if they continue to treat their customers this way, they will do that themselves! Oh and btw, I tried to contact their corporate office and have yet to get a return phone call! *pardon any spelling or grammar errors, I'm doing this from my cell phone*
This is the worst company to work for!!! As a store manager you work way to many hours and only get 1 day off a week! That is ridiculous! They expect their employees to be dedicated to this company when they are FORCED to work 6 days a week 52 hours plus! No wonder why they have such a high turn over rate! IF they treated the members of management with respect and give them a chance to enjoy their family then this company would run a happier establishment. 48 hours, 5 days a week is an understandable amount of time for a store manager to be in a store, especially when some of these stores are so slow that they dont even need a store manager to be in there for 52 hours! Let these employees enjoy their kids and their spouses! They deserve to have a life other than Family Dollar!
I live in Clinton, massachusetts and we have a family dollar store that was good but lately it the very best. Organized, neat, clean beautiful. I always dropped in but now I MAKE THE FAMILY DOLLAR STORE my destination. the employees are kind and very helpful....I do not know what changed in management of Clinton,ma Family Dollar But you, at Corporate Headquarters, can be Proud.
I think the way Family Dollar treats the workers and cut payroll and think things are going to get done is just wrong. This comany needs to go on undercover boss the CEO would have a heart attack if he knew all the styff he loses money on, if i was the CEO there would be heads rolling and it would start with the higher ups. Family Dollar needs help.........
I was just recently in the Family Dollar on Monday, January 3rd. I am a middle aged, professional, well dressed woman. The manager and cashier in the Middle Island, NY location were both rude and ignorant to me at this visit which occured about 12pm. I will no longer be patronizing this store, as I would rather spend an extra buck or two to be greeted with a smile and some respect. I used to be a store manager myself 20 years ago I ran part of the Cheap Johns chain and I do know what its all about and what should and should not be expected of an employee. To think that these people should feel lucky to have a job as my son cannot find one. There are so many people now out of work why not be a little picky on who you hire.
While shopping at the family dollar store in Orrville, Ohio our nephew was almost arrested today while waiting for us to finish shopping. As we were checking out we noted 1 police car parked in front of the store and then 2 other cars arrived. We thought it was a swat team and started to reach our nephew who was walking toward the store. Apparently one of the store cashiers became concerned because he was pacing on the sidewalk waiting for us to come out. She called the police. Although the manager denied his involvement (he said he did not call the police) he certainly knew the police were coming. We have shopped at this store ever since it was established in Orrville. They knew who he was but still considered him a threat. The manager could have contacted us in the store if anyone was really concerned. We feel our nephew was pursecuted because of his disability. We left the purchases in the cart and left the store. The police were very nice about the whole thing. The police should be counseling this store for calling false alarms. We will never shop in this store again and will share this horrible story with our family and friends. This store needs to look at their employees and remember about customer service.
Family Dollar 208 N Main St, Summerville, SC Tried to return a $5.00 item with my receipt, but only if I would give my phone number. I did not want to give my number, so the manager would not except my return without my phone number.
I regularly use store #1842 in warren ohio. My wife is a employee of your store and the crooked employees that you employ is ridiculous. You have rude managers and cashiers. Stores that are under stocked and dirty at times. Also as a customer to see managers scold employees in front of customers is real bad ethics. Also there is a lot of bad attitudes given to tHe customers the ones that give you business from your managers and the fowl language that is used is horrible.
hello i would like to remain anonamous but the family dollar in baltimore md westside needs to tell there associates how to have correct customer service i had a employee get on her cell phone and return a phone call while serving me if i didnt know how to count was watching what she was doing she never said have a good day she should not have been on that cell phone while working with a customer at my job if you did that thats a write up
There is a family dollar in Brooklyn in the corner of Newport and Rockaway. My 13 years old son went to buy a pair of boxing gloves, when he was getting it, the guy that works in the door, went to him and make him take out his pockets, becasue he though he was steeling. MY son got embarrassed in front of other customers, but the employee never called the police, because he didn't steel anything. Another day I went with my son and he stopped him, telling him he don't want him to go to the store, and I heared him, I claimed him that he is not a police officer to search him, and to stop harrasing my son. he gets so upset and scremed at my son,"you better don't come back by your self".I try to speak to the "supposedly manager" at that time, but she said that the employee always has that attitude to a lot of customers.I would like to be hear and i would like tis employee to be fired from this site.

Hi, sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you but I believe that this issue should be resolved. The issue is about criminal trespassing warning that was giving to my oldest son Ryan Renshaw October 22, 2010. What happened is my wife and our two sons went to Family Dollar to pick a few things up. So while my wife was getting the stuff that she went there for, she let the boys go and take a look at the toys and stuff. From my understanding talking to my wife and separating the two boys and interrogating them both. What happened was my son saw a package open on a toy that he liked, so he decided to take it out of the package and take a better look at it. He then put it back into the package and back on the shelf where he found. The manager charity Wilson then one over to where my boys were and asked them where the package was that Ryan was looking at. He told her that it was on the shelf, so she went and looked on the shelf for it and found it. She then asked the boys where her mom was and filled out a carnival trespassing warning. The problem is that when they got home and questioned the boys to decide what the punishment was going to be. I realized that according to both of my songs, that he was not trying to steal the item and call the manager up. While I was talking to her, she confirmed that she only heard the plastic crinkling and my son looking at the toy. After having the conversation with her, telling her that she was jumping to conclusions and had no proof that he was even attempting to steal and to go ahead and call the cops. I got frustrated and decided to hang up before unpleasant words began because it seemed we were not seeing things eye to eye. I then decided to call her back to get the corporate phone number that she mentioned in our first conversation. She told me to give her my phone number and she was going to get a hold of corporate headquarters to have them get a hold of me about the problem. So I gave her my phone number and we began discussing the situation. She then completely changed her story from what she told me the first time and said she saw him open the package and take the toy out of the package and handed over by his pocket. I then told her that I can't wait for corporate headquarters get ahold of me because she can't even keep the same story and that her story keeps changing. I told her straight up that at least both of my kids have the same story and that usually the person that changes their story is lying and that's the way the court system figures out the truth in criminal cases. I have been waiting over a month and still have not received a phone call from corporate headquarters dealing with the situation and believe that she also lied to me about going to get a hold of them to avoid give me their phone number because she knows that I call her in a lie. We know why she is lying we just cannot prove it. But to put it in simple terms, she is friends with the sister of a child molester who molested one of our kids and is in the County jail looking at 25 years in prison. We believe or should I say we know that this is the reason she is lying about the situation and taking it out on us. I think college right now about to get my degree in business management and know that any employee especially that of a manager, takes personal business and mixes it with company business is not the common employee any company wants. This is due to the fact that the company is responsible for the actions of its managers and Can be sued for discrimination. I do not wish to do so, I just want the criminal trespassing warning removed from the records and discipline action taken against charity Wilson for her actions. I am not saying that she should be fired even though if that is the discipline action you decided take against her that is your choice. But I do believe that she needs to know that your company will not put up with managers lying to customers to try to have things come out in their favor and that if it happened again, I know what I would do if I was you. Please resolve this situation and I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and if you want you can reach me at the phone number 517-206-5532 or our e-mail address at Renshawfamily@hughes.net still your loyal customer at the moment Eric Renshaw.
I was at the family dollar store in Palestine Texas I had recently had surgery on my stomach.I have a machine attached to me and sometimes it gives off a foul odor. The cashier and a customer blurted out over the whole store that the smell was coming from me humilated me in front of every one. I will never step another foot back in your store again.
I went inside a Houston Tx Family Dollar Store with my family and I heard a man ask for my neise bag before she could look around the store and she refused. So this man who didn't give us name of {"D" one of the female clerk toll us}said to get out of his store. I am upset and I plan to take this situation further. He was rude and wouldn't give me his full name and ran around the store with a cell phone on his ear the intired time. I tried to get information from him about who was in charged and this man refused to talk to me. This store clerk "D" wouldn't tell me why she had to live the store. He said he didn't have to talk to us and get out of his store repeatly. I have never been treated as bad as we were at this store. If this is a rule for bags be left at the check out counter there should be a sign stating that at the front of the store. This store is located on Mesa Rd. and this anger man "D" you have as a supervisor or clerk name need to be fired for the way he handle or didn't handle the situation. I will never shop in your store ever again. Sabrina Mobley
The Family Dollar Store on C.E.King in Houston is on my way home from work. The manager there, Tommy, checked me out last night (after I waited in line for almost 10 minutes) and he did not stop talking to other employees the whole time he was ringing me up. After I paid and picked up my bags I got out to my car and realized my bags were too light. I checked them and the large bottle of body wash I bought was not there. I had to walk back in to the store and there it sat...by the register. He had not even rung it up. He asked me if I still wanted it. Well, duh...I had stood in line for 10 minutes and picked up several things...one of which was the body wash..so yeah, I still wanted it. He rang me up and as I went to get the money out of my pocket (again and this time with my hands full) change fell onto the floor. He told me to "calm down" and I had to say I was surprised by his nonchalant attitude. I explained to him that I had already waited in line for too long and then had to come back in to get something that I had already shopped for and brought to the register. I will not go back there. At least half of the employees do not speak enough English to answer a simple question, there are always stocking dollies in front of the dog food (which is one of the things I USED to buy there) and the cashiers don't even know how to spell customer service let alone give it. I will make the longer trip to Kroger or HEB or even CVS rather than go back in there for anything. I can only hope that the place goes out of business soon and a good store takes it's place.
