I am a 17 year old girl currently living in Two Rivers Wisconsin. I have been the victim of profiling by one of the cashiers at our local Family Dollar. This lady followed me, my sister and my friend around the store...and that was uncomfortable but I understand that they have a problem with teenagers stealing and i am not unsympathetic. The problem occurred when She had the audacity to ask me, a person with morals and standards, and my friends who are equally virtuous, to empty our purses. And what was her reason I asked...and she replied that we were teenage girls with large purses. I have rights! I was humiliated and degraded and I am seriously considering legal action. I don't know if you actually read this but I am a VERY unhappy customer.
On Oct 11, 2010, I went into the family dollar store #6929 located @ 6555 Greene st, philadelphia, Pa to purchase aluminum foil and cheese. I handed the cashier a $20 bill, he took my money put it in the register, blew his nose, then attempted to hand me the change. When I asked Neal (who I later found out was the manager} to please use some hand sanitizer before giving me the change, he refused. I informed him that I coulsd not affor to get sick, I have three children and work in the healthcare proffesion, he gave me some sideways comment about that not being his problem and once again refused to use any sanitizer. even though it was entire bucket sitting on the counter! needless to say I woke up sick the next day, I was not sick nor did I have any cold symptoms before entering the store. The employees are very rude and unprofessional! They dont seem to care about the people who are keeping them employed and your stores in business.

Hi,I live in Wyoming.I used to work for Family Dollar. I was just wanting to say that Family Dollar does not think about their Employees, or their Customers...That is sad to say because, If they do not care about their Employees....How can they expect the Employees to give the Customers 100% Satisfaction...Also lord forbid If any Employee Reports Sexual -Harassment for someone else because the one who reports it they get mistreated and retaliated upon.....Also when the District Managers are best of friends and the Store managers have known each other for about 8 years and they do not follow store policy...that is not a good combination..and for the assistant manager to be a brown noser and a butt kisser because she used to work for the other store manager and the sad part is he is the one who did the sexual harassment on another associate and the assistant would not tell on him because she was friends with him and stated she did not want to lose her job....Also the District manager are best friends with the same guy and they Gamble together and she the District Manager told the victim that there was not enough evidence against the guy case closed...So after tellin you guys this story what would you say about this Family Dollar....Also I resigned from this store.The company requires you to approve your time so that you get paid.after I resigned.. later that week I went there to approve my time and later went back to shop then I had a cop coming to my house and said you are no longer allowed in Family Dollar..I stated why?The store manager said you came in the store and you were stalking her.I said I came in there to approve my time so I could get paid like the company requires us to do.The cop stated if you are caught in Family Dollar or on the premises you will be arrested..Also stated do you understand this verbal No Trespass I said no.I approved my time.I did not Shoplift,or Threaten anyone...So you guys tell me what would you call this????I could go on but do not know if you guys want to hear anymore.....A cop told me yesterday that Family Dollar is a private store hmmmmmmm?
Since Mike is no longer the manager at the Patchogue location I just want to take the time to tell you what I heard your new manager Pete saying. He does not work weekends,unload trucks, stock shelves, or ring the register. This is a man you put in charge of your Patchogue location.I was in that store 2 times last week, and was very suprised to learn Mike was no longer at that location. No one could tell me what store he was transfered to, if any. I can tell you if your new manager Pete was not so lazy, customers would not be walking out of the store without buying a thing, due to mis marked prices on shelves and under stocked inventory. I am a Patchogue resident for over 45 years and have never met a more unpleanant store manager then Pete is to his customers. After all if it were not for us locals he would be out of a job. At least Mike always said hello when I walked in. He really got to know the customer on a more friendly and pleasant basis. I will no longer be spending my money at your store. Dollar Tree has the same stock with friendly personal, you also have CBS in town same stock better management. Sorry to have to write this letter and it will probably go unread, but I do have a lot of contacts within the village so you will be getting a lot of mail on this. You might also want to tell your new manager he gets paid to do a job and talk for over an hour on the phone bitching about the job which all your customers heard as he walked up and down the isles.
After reading some of the comments Im so glad i live in Douglass Kansas as our Family Dollar is the best We have a manager that is very sweet and knows most of the custmers names and always has a smile for all the employes are just the same with a happy smile and always a Thank You They need a pat on the back from corp offices Thank You Wanda
Went to Family Dollar in Burgettstown, Pa. 9/30/2010. Had Coupon for a Free product. Cashier said she could NOT honor the Coupon without me buying more of the product. She said "they just don't give stuff away"!!!!!! ?????WT%???? Coupon was given to me by the Company because the product I bought THERE had MOLD INSIDE!!!!! Cashier was completely WRONG and I reported the incident to Headquarters. Hopefully it will help. Also, the place was dirty and unorganized. My LAST trip there!
Store #4574 in Houston, TX (11739 Eastex Frwy) is probably the worst of the worst. It is ran by an older gentleman that seems to not be all there, When I asked him to show me where the pot holders were, he just looked at me like he had no clue what I was talking about!!! On another occasion, Jessica (I remember this one clearly) spouted the most racist things about how it is "Her country" and that we all need to learn English. WOW, talk about ignorance!!! That is obviously why they only make $8.00/hour, no education. Everyone seems so miserable and understandably so. The bathroom was disgusting, I RAN out. The store was a mess and then after ALL of this, the cashier was the most rude, disrespectful human being I had ever met in my life. It was 7:30pm and I wanted to pay for my $15 order with a $50 bill and she actually got angry with me, called that mean little girl Jessica up and asked her loud and proud if she could break the 50, she of course said NO!!! rolled her eyes and walked away. If you shop here, good luck.
A couple of days ago, I went in to your store at 804 Telephone in Houston, Texas near the East End around 7 p.m. When I first entered I only observed two employees in the store working. A male was straighting up the shelves and a female near the back sweeping. Shopping for Home Interior I asked the male for assistance and he was okay at first. Then I asked him to see something that was sealed by theft protection so that I could save a trip back. He agreed to open the package for me to evaluate the furnishings and the next thing I know Im circled by female staff members acting as if I was stealing. All of which were bearly speaking or understanding english as one member walks up and ask me, "If I was in need of assistance, and why was the package open?" "I told her the youngman was assisting me." The youngmen when asked denied giving me the furnishings and opening it. The staff then circled around the area as if I was stealing... Being that I was a frequent shopper I was truely offended by their actions. I then notice the guy kneeling down in the clothing area with his penis partially expose and a female staff member adjusting her skirt and pulling her hair back in a ponytail. When he acknowledge me he quickly kneeled back down as if he was fixing the laces on his shoes...I was very taken back by the turn of events when another female employee start harrasing me for being in one are for too long. As long as I have shopped in the store I've never been so offended by any employee as I was on this day. I have considered my next step to handle this matter. Im alerting you of the poor service I recieve and my plans to alert ICE of the illegal immigrants that are working there when I'm sure we could recieve better service with some legal citizens with a better understanding of customer service. I will also be alerting the BBB for the poor and shameful service received. Something must be done when all of these turn of events were very inappropriate for a work setting. I ask that somethng be done immediately to rectify these situation from ever happening again. I am not sure if your office uses E-Verify but I work for Harris County Human Resources and we use programs like this to keep us in compliance and offering legal citizens the opportunity to hold these jobs. I clearly think this store need to rebuild this particular shift staff. I shop at the family dollar on the border of bayonne and jersey city and for the life of me i can't understand why this store has assistant managers. They don't do anything but sit in that little office on the phone or just doing nothing while the cashier,(more than likely a new hire) is dealing with a line that is stretching to the back of the store. They don't do any assisting or managing of any kind. As long as they,(the 2 female asst. managers) continue to work in that store i will be shoping at the wallgreens down the street.
I am writing you concerning a potentially serious situation that exists right now at store #6798. This store is located at 1426 South Main Street in Rockford, IL. I went there last night just before closing. We have a serious situation in our city currently with robberies. The problem is this; the store adjoining the building where the Family Dollar is located is called La Familia Grocery. They had a serious natural gas leak that they IGNORED for a long time. I stopped shopping there because natural gas has NO odor, so the awful smell that is added to WARN an intelligent person of a gas leak was ignored. The store exploded and has been closed for a month. That BIG store, La Familia, has total control over the parking lot lighting which is very necessary in our area. This is a high-crime area. When I drove up to the Family Dollar tonight, I didn't realize how DARK the parking lot was and almost didn't get out of my car. There was a group of young men in a car sitting just outside the store and as I went INTO the Family Dollar the car with the young guys took off at a speedy rate. I grabbed the item I needed and rushed the cashier to check me out. The FD store has lights, but nothing in comparison to an entirely well lit parking lot when the other store was open. That store of yours is an OPEN INVITATION to anyone interested in a robbery. Crack is the big deal around here with the area I live in. I'm too old and tired to move. I know I'm dragging this out, but if you could have seen the parking lot with those 2 stores there, one huge store ALL IN PITCH black, no parking lot lights, not a ONE, and then the little beacon lights of "Family Dollar" with 2 young women inside alone, I was really upset. I'm keeping a copy of this letter and I am going to pass it around to as many stores as I can so others can see how dangerous this store is open all alone with 2 girls about 20 years old in there alone. HELLO?????? Anyone listening?????? I always shop this store because it's close to me and the help there is very good. I give them a "5" rating. I know for a fact you the Cooperate office are reading all these complaints, but you continue to remove all the complaints pertaining to illegal aliens. It seems that your company contuines to be none complaince when it comes to the employement process and you contuine to disregard the goverment rules and regulations on hiring of employees. I fail to understand that since the unemployment rate is so high why do you continue to hire illegals that have no work permit being in these country. We feel it's our civil right to expose companies like Family Dollar Store to the public.

Houston, TX I just read the previous comment posted about a "Concern Mother" made on 9/26, now it is all clear to me that your manager must had never done the background check on her employees, Is she hiring illegals in order to get sexual favors? I am so concern for that little girl, what must have been going through her little head when she saw those inappropriate action in your store, after this incident you need to change the name of your store to "Family Dollar Store" to "Give Me A Trill Store" I strongly feel that the manager and the stock boy should be reprimanded for their misbehavior especially during business hours. and Please get rid of them illegals immigrates form your store.

Family Dollar here in Houston,Tx loc. on C.E.King and Tidwell Rd have very poor customer service skills and have Know consideration of there customer. They dont want to honor your coupons and their understanding is very bad. My son car stop this morning on the way to work.He pull in the parking lot at family dollar at 7 am the Manager and Employee was at the location when I arrived to pick him up. My son and I tried to jump start the car but it was a no go. My son took me back home only 1 mile from family dollar he used my car for work. I needed to call roadside assistance to pick the car up,but need family dollar address and car plate number call manager for information and inform him that a tow truck will be picking up my son car,he informed me that he already call tow service for the car to be remove from the property.I could have been at any one of the loc. next door I was very upset the car was parked in a parking lane it took roadside assist. 45 mins to arrived,I asked the manager"Why would have someone car tow when you see its a problem ".Reply was no answer. we are daily customer he see's us all the time. I WENT TO EAT SOME CHIPS AND THEY WERE STALE, I DID NOT REALIZE THE DATE ON THE CHIPS WAS OLD, SO I WENT BACK TO THE STORE WITH MY RECEIPT AND THE MANAGER WAS VERY RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!
