Hi, I live here in El Paso TX, and Family Dollar was one of my Favorite stoes because u can find good deals for a reasonable price. But today i went to Family to buy two blouses that i thought were cute, (and this store wasnt close to my house) but when i got home to try them on i didnt like the way it fit me so i was going to go to the story thats close to my house to return it. When i got to the family dollar on Padres and Alameda street (The 1 close 2 my house) the manager told me that if i wanted to do an exchange i can but if i wanted to get my $ back i would have to go to the store where i bought it. I wouldnt have had a problem going to the store were i originally bought them but i really hate it when people who get a little bit of authority talk to u with an attitude and try to make u feel like if ur stupid. So i went to the original store afterwards to get my money back and i asked that manager if i was able 2 return the blouses here or any other store and he told me any other store as long as i had a receipt. So he help me make a report on that manager n store and gladly gave me my money back.
the one on fifth ave in flint do not take the advertisement down from three weeks ago and still want you to pay the full price since they did not take it down and for for manager and she say she was while talking on her cell phone the whole time
Thia company is a JOKE to work for... The store I worked in had high shrink, well coporate does not believe the losses are due to thiefs, not employees. They brought in a new store manager, who has been on a high horse cleaning house. I worked there for a year and a half before I had any issues or write ups. The other Asst. Mgr. was fired because she had admitted to accidently not paying for a $1 kitty litter scoop, she had paid for it the next day, and come on it was only a $1 item. 2 weeks later I was let go because my cashier on shift was $20 short!!! I even offered to pay the $20 just to keep the crap job to support my family, that was not an option! The one cashier who is still from the origional group that I started with is dealing with the NAACP for discrimination. Family Dollar was supposed to be a "second family" turns out all they do is screw their employees.. I never called in and my drawar was always right, so tell me how I get fired for another employees cash being short, I didn't touch her till at all!!! I am also sure coporate would love to know that the Store Manager is hiring people who failed their drug test..
elgenia bennett c/o mozart sevevo bennett it is a health code/ dept. of agriculture violation for a store who sells food to allow an animal in the store. If you would have told the manager that the DOG as you put it was a special needs dog, an exception would have been made, but just assuming because you didnt get your way from the get go that someone was rude to you is not right. I do not know how you were talked to but I will say alot of problems that i read about here are company policy that the actual employee has no control over. For all the people who are treated rude by employees of Family Dollar, I am deeply sorry. We are not all rude, and I know I try to help my customers in all the possible ways I can. For those employess coming on here to yell at customers, you are rediculus. You state that you dont want to be be yelled at or mistreated by customers yet you do the same to them. The customer is not always right, when they try to get things for free or come in with an attitude but that doesnt mean you should stoop to their level or take out your fustrations on other customer. In closing, Customers please don't lump all employees of family dollar or all family dollar stores together, and employees dont lump all customers together or mistreat them because your having a bad day. I have been purchasing starlight mints for years, and other things in your store, I thought should let you know I have changed from buying at your stores and start buying dollar General, since you not have increased your prices you have change size of your packaging these mint have when from 16 oz to 14 oz. dollar general has stayed the same , So if you are do this with the mints, It is not the only thing you are changing, So I'm saying goodbye and I will pass the word to my friends, Bob Staples
you think that's bad. i applied for an asst mgr job in my town of ajo, az and had all the qualifications for it. guess who they hired? a felon who's been busted for drugs. he was one of the employeers friends so that's why they hired him! seems to me they don't care about qualifications or customers!
Just about everyday I go to the F>D> on water's and armenia.It is a new store. I want to say every time I have gone in the Assistent Mike has been very helping and always cheerful. A pleasure to go. The store mgr Rhonda (i think) is keeping the store looking nice. Had to tell you since I believe if something is good then say it. Something bad I will tell them.
Do not ever shop in the Family Dollar Store #7925 17 Mansfield Ave., Ohio!!!! The Manager named NANCY will accuse you of STEALING some thing because "they have a lot of theft in that store"!!! What a Beeper to put it nicely! I have worked in retail quite a number of years and know that's not the way to keep your customers coming back! Can we say LAW SUIT? I will be calling the Corporate Office! But from the other comments I've read it looks like I won't be able to reach them! And as for NANCY I hope your FIRED!!!!!!!
Good Mourning, (Phillips WI 54555 Area)how many Family Dollar Corporate Policys do you have to violate before a Manager gets TERMINATED. This is for all past and future Family Dollar emploees. I am a past employee of Family Dollar who has knowledge of this and is called ghosting of hours ( puching out and then following day hand puching and changing your hours)and not working all your hours you are scheduled for. Something is really really wrong with the Corporate Office and the DM if you are accused of this last year and now this year again and nothing is being done, especially after having pictures of the changes in hand punched hours. And the fact that four employees know what is going on and another Manager at a different store, and they cant do anything about it but report the Manager. Not to mention where you can go to another store and memberise that Managers personal numbers and go back to there store and access there private and confidential store information, like Statement and Earnings and Deductions and how that Manager schedules the employees and other stuff which falls under INVASION OF PRIVACY and then copys all this private information off for her own eyes to look at. So how much more can a Manager get away with before they are TERMINATED.

I would like to address Bryan posted on4/21, The cashier with no name tag more an likly was on her lunch and company policy we are Not to Touch anything dealing with work while on lunch that's a big NO NO. As for the manager they never clock out for lunch that's who you really need to be pissed at i know i would have said something. The managers Are to work at all times, the store i work at only one day a week do i even sit to take a lunch, all the rest of the time i eat and work cause they exspect so much to be done. and you don't have time to sit. As for the rude cashiers thats the managers i know i pull mine aside and tell them to watch how they talk to customers, that's not tolerated at our store.
Good afternoon, I just left from your location at 1800 B 12th St/Burlington Ave Muncie Indiana and as I walked in the door with a 11 week old puppy the cashier stated that I or we could not come in because of DOG she didnt ask for any id or anything (handi pup) taking his classes for licensing. Since she was so rude I just left and went next door to The New Market/Marsh and spoke to Management about polices and procedues for dogs and she was very nice and told me and let me shop. The DOG as the cashier stated is cleaner than some of the people and employees that I have seen working at Family Dollar. I have spent a lot of money at your business and I will not come back. I will also let the school know how she treated us and some of my clients as well. I hope this doesnt become a PROBLEM with your company. I have been all over this lovely USA and a lot of stores caitor to animals. A friend works for the Family Dollar Store here in Antlers, Oklahoma. Her boyfriend was in a headon accident last night and she called the manager of the store to let him know that she may not make it back in time for work and he told her that is she didn't come in that she could look somewere else for a job. I have never met the manager and I hope he doesn't meet my wife for she has a temper and she said that kind of attitude will not work in this little town. Just about everyhone is related to each other here and it makes it nice if you need help. I don't know where he came from but he is a jerk and we intent to pass the word around here about the way he tries to handle the employees. I hope that when we do that the head office will do something....
I went into a dollar general, in Lubbock TX. The cashier was nice and polite to the two customers in front of me, but was so completely rude to me I was shocked. I don't know if she has some issues with race but I came very close to walking out and forgetting about my purchase. I bought two small items and the woman in front of me bought a lot of stuff. Once she was done with that transaction the cashier stepped away from the register for a good three minutes to talk to some fellow employees, while I was standing there annoyed. When she finally came over to check my stuff out she was completely rude. She didn't even hand me my receipt, I had to grab it from the box. I am a cashier myself at a grocery store and I think her behavior was completely unacceptable for ANY employee. I don't care what issues people have with race, but don't make it so obvious at work! I will never be going to that family dollar again.
I WAS a very good customer (at least 4 times a week) until today. One employee gave me a hard time ( I think her name was Maria..anyway that what her name tag said) because I asked the cashier not to break the plastic around the 12 pk of water just to get to the sku #. It makes it hard to carry, and this woman argued with me that it's the only way to do it, however the many times I've been there other cashiers have not needed to do this. Then as I was exiting she abruptly stoped my carriage and said I couln't take it outside. Who doestn;t let their customers take a heavy load out to their car... I will no longer spend my money at this store,,, I'll go to walmart!
I'm a snow bird, and tried shopping at the Dollar Store in Largo, Fl. It was so hot in there I had to leave. The poor people working there were sweating. That's pretty sad how you take care of your employees, not to mention customers!
I live in Ely, Nevada and our store is #7460. I was an employee there for a few months, and simply put, my experience there was not even worth the time I wasted away from my daughter or boyfriend. When I was there, I worked with Bill (Store Manager), Marissa (Asst. Manager), Amanda (Asst. Manager), Barbara (Asst. Manager), Kody (Cashier/Stock), Doug (Stock). Now first off, for a store in a small town, why is it necessary to have 3 assistant managers, and have at least two of them working together on the same shift? Let alone, have at least two of them working with the store manager? Now, onto my experience with the Family Dollar "FAMILY". My first day, I was thrown onto the cash registered with the "help" of Marissa who was behind me on the other cash register. Now, how much training can I really be expected to receive if the person who is training me isn't even training me? Now in the defense of the employee's, the cashier's job is not only to just be up front. They also have to stock and clean the store, and other odd jobs around the store. Okay, fine, but how can I be trained if I have to work on my own? Bill...in my opinion is a waste of a manager. I like him as a person, but he can not manage, AT ALL! And this is not the first time that I have worked with him, so I have two times of experience. Bill is no longer an employee at this store due to accusations of theft, which doesn't surprise me if that is the case. He was asked to cooperate in a theft prevention investigation, and refused, and walked out. Amanda, well I have not one ill word to say about her. Amanda was a hard working individual that proved herself worthy of her position, and worked her ass off to get where she was. And sadly, she was also accused of theft and fired for that. She was accused of stealing money, which I honestly believe she was set up for, because I don't believe with her working her ass off, that she would have stolen money. She was a great person to work with, and I closed the store with her almost every single night, and I watched her. SHE NEVER STOLE MONEY! Barbara, I worked with her as well once before. I didn't have a problem with her the first time I worked with her, but this time, things were not the same. She was a, simply put, BITCH!, and she used to take advantage of her schedule and her title with the company. She wanted to be the store manager, and she had a tendency to let the power get to her head. Well, apparently she couldn't hack it and keep the power, so she quit. LOSER! Marissa, she is plain out LAZY!!!! She would go in the back and hide in the store and talk and text her husband on her phone. She would talk to him while taking care of customers, AT THE CHECK STAND! She SOME HOW, BEYOND MY KNOWLEDGE, is still employed with the company. I personally believe that Marissa and Barb set up Amanda to get framed and fired because I feel they seen her as a threat. Also, Marissa was constantly bragging about how she just got 2 cars, a 2003 Dodge Durango and 2006 Dodge Charger, and her husband was working as a temp for the mines out here. So I am sorry, but on about 2,000 dollars or so a month, how do you afford 2 car payments, your child, rent, cell phone, electric, and all the other bills she has? But she is still employed? GO FIGURE! I never had any problems with Kody or Doug, and neither of them are there now. Simple as this FAMILY DOLLAR IS A BULLSHIT COMPANY! And I will never work for them again, let alone suggest anyone to work for this bullshit company! I don't care if it is the only and last place hiring anywhere, I won't!!!! They are two faced, and bullshit and I hate this company! At this rate, I hardly ever even shop there now, because I would rather not be faced with dealing with the two-faced people who work there. And I haven't been employed with them since January 29th. A girl who was being trained when I was working out my last week still doesn't know her job. I just had to explain to her two days ago how to do a return/exchange sale. HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT AND YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING THERE FOR ALMOST 3 MONTHS? SERIOUSLY....LEARN YOUR FUCKING JOB!!!!
I have shopped the same Family Dollar store (4769) since the day it opened, I have seen managers come & go & for the most part it has been a nice experience.However I walked up to the register a few evenings ago, the manager was sitting on the edge where the bags hang and the assistant and a male friend stood there talking about sexual toys and the did not stop as I stood there. This store has gone down hill with the newest manager and the newest assistant. They dress very sloppy, both are rude and usually neither will run a register even when they see people waiting in line I feel for the cashiers who always seem to have to apologize for these to.
I was in Atlanta, GA @ 3050 Martin Luther King Dr. 30311,location today and could not believe how unprofessional the cashier was to the customers. First, two employees were talking to each other from different sides of the store (talking over the customers). There was a line of about eight customers with several items in the there baskets. I ask the manager could they open another register, he said yes. So he ask one of the two employees to open another register. A customer walked over to the counter and told them to stop talking and open the register so the customers in line could be served. The employee started to tell her to mind her business. I said you should not speak to customers in that manner. He said tell her not to speak to me. I told him he was very unprofessional. They should have been more aware of the line in the store, and should have been willing to help the other cashier move the customers out. The manager should have taken a better stand with the employees. I hope you will address this issue. I was very upset with this kind of conduct in the store. The two cashiers that work most of the nights at the Hebron Indiana stores are LAZY. When the Older Manager leaves the Black haired cashier sits at the counter and texts along with the Guy that works there too. As he's textings and ignoring his job, he sits his butt on top of the counter that customers put groceries on!!! If the lazy black haired girl isn't sitting on her butt, she's outside on her cell phone smoking cigaretts and if she's asked for help she gets rude!!!.There is also a young little readhead that works there too thats all over the male cashier,It's sickning! I commeted to them once they should get a room and they laughed at me.Tere are good hard working people who need jobs,seeing those three lazy people sucking up money from their employer is a shame. I stopped going there.
I was shopping a couple of weeks ago at family dollar#3492.There was a spanish lady there,i asked for some asstiace to get a lamp from the high shelf.She was so kind to drop what she was doing to help me.I know thats there job but i've been to other stores(#1972) and(#2225) they were rude and made me wait for there help.That girl always has a smile its a pleasure to shop there with her.
