My son put an applicatiuon in at the Milan,Indiana store.Well the manager is letting young girl that he hired to hire the people thats not right and i know that they arent allowed to do that.Because they hired all young girls and you know they are related to them or they are friends with them.A girl he hired has been there 60 days my son filled out an application online he did before that girl did that was hired

do i really have to walk in the store and see every employee standing around??? then whn i try to check out they just stand there n tell me they will b there in a min. after standing there for 5mins i walked out the door. its just sad to see employees standing around when there are people in line to check out. i wasnt the only person in line either. one of the employees mothers where there saying i was rude for asking for the corporate office phone number. i dont enjoy standing and waiting for rude employees that arent even doing anything. there were boxes all over the store and i couldnt even go down half the store. i will be calling the head office too. tiana, ebony, and the so called manager charlene from the hazelwood store are always standing around not doing anything but talking to each other everytime i go into that store!!!!!!!

Recently I had a very bad experience with the Family Dollar store in San Ysidro, NM. On August 9, 2011 I went to the store and make some purchases that came to a total of $20.39. I paid for the purchases with my debit card from Wells Fargo bank. Yesterday, August 10, 2011, I checked my bank account and found that I had been charged twice for the purchase. I contacted Wells Fargo and was told that the Family Dollar store had submitted it twice and that is why it was taken out twice. I believe that Wells Fargo also has some responsibility as it was obvious that it was a duplicate charge as the dates, amount, store number and purchase tracking number are all the same. They removed the duplicate charge but requested that I contact the Family Dollar store # 2336 in San Ysidro, NM as they made the mistake. I contacted them yesterday and was told by the assistant manager that the manager was out but would be in later and call me. She did not. The assistant manager called me late yeasterday to say that the manager would call me today. She has not called and that is why I am posting this notice.

Management at our local Family Dollar does not follow through with store discounts printed in the local news. This Saturday at the Mount Airy Family Dollar they we're running a promotion of the first 50 people receiving a $5.00 store gift card. I was the fifth person in the store and the manager would not issue the gift card. He said he was not following what the newspaper had printed, instead he was giving out the cards over a span of three consecutive days. When questioned he was not personable and did not accomadate my needs. I am extremely disappointed and I wasn't the only one.

I went your family dollar store on main street in Asbury Park New Jersey , around 5:30 on Friday July 30 2011. I got in line behind 5 other customers .When I got in line the line was formed to the left of the cash register. I stood in line while one gentleman had $85.00 in purchases , which while the cashier was checking as well as talking on the business phone. I stood in line.Next 4 people are waited on ,I stood there a young black man walks up gets in line and is waited on . I still stayed I was not in a hurry and he only had a window shade . After waiting as other 4 are waited on as I go to cash register a women puts her stuff on the counter from the right side of register . I said to her I was next in line she was of Mexician descent as well as 4 others who were in front of me . As I stated I was next the cashier Started to yell at me that the line forms at the right . And I was in the wrong place and he was not going to wait on me . Before I could say anything to him He yelled again . I stated to him to please calm down and stop yelling . He yelled at me and said he was not yelling,obviously he was mistaken . As I was a little afraid to get to close to put my items down . He said to me are you ready? I didn't want to get to close . He finally waited on me . One of the Mexican ladies said to the one I was in front of that yes I was first I asked for his name and gave him mine.His is Jason . I know if I were a white woman he would never have spoke to her in this manner . I will never go there again and will tell my friends . Like your products but customer service was appalling .

Went to Family dollar on a Sunday,Union, NJ brought all of my merchandise to the counter and their is no cashier. There was another customer in the store with her daughter and I kindly asked if she had seen the cashier--her reply was no and this is very odd. So we are in the store WAITING for about a good 10 minutes. The cashier finally came to the register and said she had to go to the bathroom and she had been holding her water since 10:00 am. The other customer said to the cashier that you have some honest customers and her reply was SO I DONT CARE. We could have walked out of the store with the merchandise and the cashier replied SO It Would Have Been The Store Responsibility. OMG!!! Why hire these people....Give the job to someone who would be greatful to have a JOB....

The people that work at the Family Dollar in Artesia, NM. are so RUDE. and they don't even stand behind their store sales, the manager went and yanked down the signs and still wouldn't give me the sale price. so needless to say I won't be putting another foot in that store!!!

I am a regular customer, but only for lack of options in my small town. while checking out the manager is always on the phone having personal conversations and fully ignores me and other customers. I've witnessed her get agitated by a customer disturbing her phone call. She also speaks spanish at the register when talking to other associates and talk about customers they don't like in front of other customers. I've worked in retail many years and have never seen such inappropriate behavior go unpunished. Other associates are quite pleasant and helpful, but this manager just doesn't seem to setting the bar very high. When calling in to get a number to make a complaint, I was told they will not give me a number and that I can only talk to the manager! Shes the problem.

I worked for Family Dollar some years ago when Nancey and Tom was over us and they are still over the same stores and they still don't do anything, they are quick to fire store mtg, asst and cashiers for their down falls, someone needs to be LOOKING at them. Nancey talks to the employees like they are dogs in front of other people,and then fires them if they say something to her.Someone needs to be checking into her

On Thursday July 15, 2011, I was at the Family Dollar Store in Warwood, West Virginia where I ran into my grandmother who is now 88 years old. She has been shopping at this particular location for at least twelve years and all of the employees know her by name, with the exception of the store "Manager" as she is so called. When cashing out she asked my Grandmother for her ID. My Grandmother gave her a driver's license with a picture id and correct address, however, the license had been expired since 1999. She has been using this license at that same Family Dollar for the last 12 years, however that day they could not use that id. Amazing. I asked to speak to the person that the "Manager" had called and she had to convince that person "Ms. Alexander" to even take my call. I find this totally ridiculus. I am sure that my 88 year old Grandmother was just sitting around trying to figure out how to steal from the Family Dollar. I am still trying to figure how why her check was taken for 12 years that was ok. I intend on filing a complaint with the corporate office. I am still waiting on an explaination for the employees actions if this is a violation of the policies. I can assure you that neither myself or my Grandmother will not spent a dime more at any Family Dollar location if it was the last store on earth ever again.

First I want to tell you that for the most part I love the Family Dollar. I can't beat the prices for bird seed, paper and cleaning products, greeting cards, some foods and such. The employees are pleasant enough. The store is clean and well stocked. My issue is with the long, slow waiting line at the cash register check out. There are two counters in the store. I don't care if there are 10 customers waiting in line, the manager the will not open the second counter. If we complain about the wait we're told that it's shift change or the manager didn't know the lines were so long, etc. That's un-acceptable. One day I was standing in this long slow line waitng to be rung up and the customer behind me went ballistic demanding to know why the manager would not open the second register. This woman was so loud and angry the store went silent. She upset the cashier that was working the one open register (she kept saying, "I hate this job..."). I told the cashier it wasn't her fault, but I don't blame her for being upset. The manager never did come out to see what was going on, to offer backup to the cashier, or just open another register and stop the madness. They just left the cashier out there to endure this woman's rath. It wasn't right. There are a lot of elderly people in this neighborhood and they rely on Family Dollar. I keep saying I'm going to stop shopping there...I keep thinking maybe this time it will be different, but it's always the same.

I just found this site or I would have complained sooner! Three years ago on July 27th, a Sunday morning, I had a terrible experience at Family Dollar in Inver Grove Heights Mn. I had stopped to buy some snacks for a trip I was going on for work, and had never been treated so unfairly. I had an eye condition that required me to put several prescription drops in 5 minutes apart and I did this in my car in front of the store. Apparently the store clerk thought I was up to no good. The drops can cause some nasty side affects ( blurry vision, eye pain, brow aches, etc.) . After I entered the store I began experiencing these side affects and I was having trouble seeing clearly. I wasn't worried because I new they would go away in a few minutes. I was looking at a can of nuts trying to see if they were salted or not, when I was confronted by 2 female police officers who asked me what I was trying to steal! I said I did not intend to steal anything, and I told them I had never even had so much as a parking ticket in my life. They told me they didn't care! They told me the cashier (Lissy Gardener) had called them because she thought I was acting suspiciously. I tried to explains my eye condition, but they said I was lieing. They made me wait for several minutes before telling me I would be sent registered letter saying I could not shop there anymore. The police wrote a report that makes me look like a criminal, but I did nothing wrong! I have organized a large group of people through my church who vow to never shop at Family Dollar again unless the company gives me an apology and corrects the police report some how. The company __won't even return my phone calls or answer my letters! What a shit company. Please join me in my boycott. Thanks for reading this.

I really like to shop at my neighborhood Family dollar but service is ridiculous. When there are 15 or more people a line why aren't there other cashiers to open. Why are they in the back doing nothing. It is always this way at this store, at 100 East 103rd Street in Chicago, plus the floor was not mopped properly my daughter almost fell, oh boy what a law suit that would have been. I don't want anyone to lose their jobs, but have you ever heard of the show Undercover Boss, in short your staff in this store needs retraining!!!!!, I must say that the lone cashier that was taking care of all of the customers in the long line was doing the best job he could, I commend this young man I wish I had remembered to get his name,he was very professional and courteous. I guess the manager was on break too, never saw him or her. d. bowers

Your store located 4824 Flat Shoals Pkwy, Decatur, GA has consistently hired managers who are rude and are not trained in customer service. The receipts given out have the wrong phone number. After talking to a gentlemen at corporate headquarters, I was given the same wrong phone number by him.

I work for a store in IN and you customers who always have an attitude need to stop! You expect us to be nice and we try but when you are rude, we are going to be rude right back, sorry! Especially all you "loud and outspoken" people who feel they got to prove a point to everybody and cousins. Don't just come in and start screaming at us cause you can't get your way and goodness forbid please read the sales signs carefully before you pick up an item!! We don't wanna hear it when you get to the register about how you wanted a discount! READ PEOPLE!!! And don't scream at us about fees! I am so sick of hearing people scream when we are doing something else and you people are screaming about not having anybody at the checkout!! We have many other tasks to get done in one day so shut it!!! You people need to understand what we have to go through and that we don't just sit around at the register cause we can't do that! Another thing, DONT ASK US to look for things in the back! We're not going to do it because we have other tasks that need to get done and we're simply going to say no! When we are closed, please respect that and don't continue to shop around for 20 minuets! We have lives just like you. We are tired and want to go home after a long day.

I will never go in the family dollar in Strawberry Plains, Tenn. Located on highway 11E. The manager is so rude and hateful. Every time I go in there is always a issue with her. It seem,s to the company needs to teach their employees good customer service skills. I will just give my business to the Dollar General stores.

I went to the Family Dollar with my $5 cupon. When I was rung up I gave the boy my cupon with two other brand cupons.....When I got home and looked at my reciept I found out that after the brand cupons were taken off my total was $24.75 instead of the young man saying your short by a quarter he kept my cupon making me think he deducted it. When I called the store it was more like "to bad" we'll give you your cupon back. Well I am sure that Family Dollar feels dissatisfied customers are part of the bussiness there are pleanty more around. I am sure the Toys for us and many others that went bankrupt felt the same way. I will be going to Dollar General or kmart or even Walmart but I won't be going back to Family Dollar.

I went to the Family Dollar store located at 12917 Jefferson Avenue Newport News, VA store #4264, I was there to purchase some Excedrin Magrine medicine for my son who was having one. The Excedrin had a coupon savings of .50 infront of the Excedrin and in the Family Dollar Coupon book was the coupon that said .50 off ANY 24 count Excedrin Product, the manager was ringing up the order and the .50 was not coming off and she tried to put the code in from the coupon but it still didnt work. She looked at the Extra Strength green bottle and deducted that it must mean 24 count of this product. I told her if that was the case that is what it would have said on the coupon and not only that the .50 off was on the product shelf stating the same thing. As a manager I know you are able to use your key to over ride the system b/c sometimes it may not be in the system correctly, she didnt even try to go the extra mile. Customer service is not what it use to be, eventually we will not have any where to shop because the service standard is getting lower by the minute. With that being said I will not be shopping at that location again.
