i have going to this store #5220 they are so rude they make you stand in line while they are somewhere else in the store and then when they finally get to you they act like do not want to answer your question i so tired of these stores taking my money and not resrecting us i pay good money and this is the thanks we get this is bull you walk in a saint you walk out a sailor.
Man when I googled family dollar complaint phone number I had hoped I would be able to resolve my problem how disheartening to see family dollar doesn't care. I have seen much emotional abuse heaped on customers and employees alike from the manager of our store here in rawlins Wyoming. And have kept my mouth shut for most part but when she actually physically assaulted my 13 year old daughter smacking her in the ARM with a pencil case until her arm was red....enough was enough my daughter told her owe it hurts and she blew her off saying I'm not hitting you that hard. I called the district manager J.C. something or other and left a furious message along with my name and number. A week has flown by not a word from him but I did get a call at 8am from the manager which my husband fielded as I was not calm enough yet to talk to her she wad angry I went over her head and called her boss why didn't I call her (excuse me she hit my child) we aren't friends anymore (we were friends?). And now if my husband and daughter try to go into store other employees are warning them to watch out for her she's really angry at us blah blah this is ridiculous how can any company this bad still be in business.
I don't useuly complain about store employees who are loud in a corner amoung them selfs. but this takes the cake and then some, last night while shopping I could here the women in the next alie complaing about the store mgr. She was saying how she was not staying after hrs to put stuff away weather mgr liked it or not. The closes at 9:00 pm and thats when she wants leave. A few minutes before that when I first came in she cut me off on the alie with a mouth full of food ozzing out between her teeth and looked at me with a look that said i dare you to say something . I continued to shop. When I was done and got to the register, I asked for the mgr, the casiher said that she was the asst mgr, good enough for me. I comented on the employees attitude toward the cutomer and the company, when this same employee cut off my conversation with the asst to make comments of her own or ask questions consering the store. I waited till she was done. when I stared again with the asst she cut me off again. I stared again this time i gave her my back , after paying on my way out the employee wanted to help me carry my purches to the car of course i said no thank you, she asked again, again i said no thank you. she opened the door and said if i have any complaints the number is on the window out side on the side everything in the store is recored she knows the complaint will not be about her. I felt challened and threaten. I remember her from the last time i was there shoping a month before or so, she was so bizzy talking to the casier the girl over charge me $12.00 In my opinion I think the cashier was afraid to say something to her. the over charge was corrected. There are so many people with out jobs I am sure someone new can do a much better job and be happy at it. I will continue to shop there I like Family Dollar the prices are right for me and the store is always clean and most of the employees are pleasent. Attitude is everything ! this was a new store that opened 2 or 3 months ago in Hollywood Florida st rd 7 & Pines Blvd Through out the bad apples before rest goes bad too ! &
The family dollar that is located at 4231 Greenwood Dr, Portsmouth VA is one of the worst store in the area. The credit card machine is always down and that make no sense to me. I went to the store over the weekend and the machine was down and I went again today (10/6/11) and it was still down, with a sign on the door "cash only". The store is close to my house, so I go there often, but I think I will just going to Dollar Tree, they are not they far, and they never have ALL of their machine down. I personally think that the company is trying to save money and not pay for the service and just dont mine the inconvience to the customer. I will say this much you have lost me as a customer. I may be just one customer, but just think how many more feel this way.
I went to store #4646. When I went in the cashier (5"7' heavy-set black woman, with her hair styled into a bun, she has a long scar along the under part of her forearm) stared at me as if I were an alien. I greeted her and she just stared at me. While checking out I greeted her again and she did not respond. She scanned my items and looked at me as if I were supposed to know what my total was. I just stared at her until she told me. I wouldn't be upset if she was a mute that worked there but she was just having a conversation with a co-working and the customer ahead of me. Why couldn't I get the same greeting and service as the customer ahead of me? Since Family Dollar doesn't care about customer comments, then they won't care that I'm going to take my money somewhere else. I don't care how bad the economy is customer service should not be short changed.
I went shopping at store #4444 in El Paso with my five month old and three year old, my three year old ask to use the restroom and the cashier very rude said they did not have any restroom he could use. My three year old wet his pants. I was very disappointed at the fact that they dont let the customers use the restroom while shopping.
Just recently I went to Family Dollar Store Number #0790 at 205 N F R HUFF DR Saint Matthews, SC 29135 (803)655-5271. While I was there on 09/24/2011 before 08:24:32 s. m. there was this no offense to anybody out there white cashier following me and this lady around. You see I walked up in there with shirt, shorts, house keys, no bag on me or anything and got followed twice by the cashier and he was looking at me like I was going to steal something cause I am a African American female. Something has to be done about this and maybe if there can be an African American mystery shopper to go to the family dollar at the above and sees what happens than report it.
I have shopped at family dollar store for several yrs. now, I spend a little over 200.00 monthly there. This past yr. I have found that the customer service has deminished. There is hireing of younger associates who apparently aren't trained in customer service. I don't buy as much as I have in the past, however after my last experiance I will not be buying there any more. The stores is crowed with boxes making it difficult to brows or find the items your looking for, the employees including the store managers are rude to the customers, as if they are in complete control of the store or the store owner. If some of these store are to survive the ression customer training is a must. I will pay more money if I am treated with respect. the family dollar store is not saving me enough money to accept being treated disrespectfully. I have discussed this with many others and we are going to start shopping together at other stores to save.
To help you understand why most of your complaints are on rude employees or employees not knowing what to do or how to do it the answer is simple. I have two close friends that work for that company, they never give the stores enough people/payroll to run a store correctly, they don't have a clue on how to train people, it literally is on the job and not enough of it before they are held responsible for a position, they do give them training on a pc but its simple and generic. If you want another reason, they don't compensate them at all. When I heard a new store manager only starts out at $500.00 a week, I was confused why would you only pay someone $500.00 a week to watch over $250,000.00 worth of inventory. Humm sounds like alot of the complaints you have voiced here could be fixed if this company wasn't so cheap and abusive to their own employees. Instead of being upset with the clerks, take them to a better dollar store, get them a job application and shop places that are good to their own people. I have never been involved with a company that set their people up for failure, it amazes me that a company spends countless dollars hiring and firing people for things that are truly the fault of the company and upper management. thanks Matt Love the people working there they work for idiots.

Family dollar on sunset drive in monroe NC mainly has nice employees but theres this one light skin black lady thats maybe in her 40s that works there and shes incredibly rude, I work at the foodlion next door to the store and sometimes if i get off early or if im on lunch break ill go in there, tonight when i got off work i went in while i was waiting for my ride, i was looking at car cell phone chargers and the little metal hanger it wwas hanging on fell off onto the floor, so i picked it up and put it right back where it was, and when i turned around the employee said "your going to have to leave if your going to do that, you don't see me over in your store breaking things" and turned and walked off, shes normally just rude and doesnt say anything, which i dont really care too much about, but purposely going out of your way to be incredibly rude for absolutley no reason is completley inappropriate and stupid, its why im going out of my way to let it be known that they shouldnt have people so rude representing thier store. Working at foodlion sometimes its hard when people are rude to still be nice to them, i get that, but i was minding my own business and she comes up to be rude.
went by your new store in jemison alabama. the store signs states that the store opens at 8 am. would have loved to shop there but there was no one there. I arrived right at 8 am waited for 5 minutes and still no sign of life anywhere in the parking lot or store. your management should be more punctual.
I work at a family dollar and not all cashiers are rude. Just the other day a customer was yelling and cursing at me and I asked her not to speak to me like that and a customer behind her told me not to be rude to the lady yelling at me. So I told her that it was not her business and they said I had bad customer service skills and I did nothing wrong. I had to ask the customers to leave because they would not stop yelling and cursing at me. So they left and then about ten minutes later the second customer came back and asked for my name and she said she was going to call and get me in trouble. I did nit say or do anything to those customers. Im a pleasant and friendly person I don't do anything to anyone. I just don't understand people sometimes.
I work at a famy dollar and the other day I was at work putting stock away and I seen a group of customers go up to my co-workers line so I went to open my register an two customers followed me and as I started ringing them up another customer from the other line came over to me and said what the f@ck are you doing ringing them up before the people over here? I told her to please not talk to me like that and I apologized so the customer behind her told me not to be rude to her and I told her it was none of her business it was between myself and the other customer. So the first customer started yelling at me saying those people must be your friends and those ladies said I don't know this cashier. So both of the customers were saying that it was poor customer service and they continued to yell at me I asked them to leave or I was calling the police. So both the customers left nut ten minutes later the second customer came back in and asked for my name and the number for corporate and I gave it to her and she just continue to say I was rude and igornant to them. I said you came in and had gotten what you needed you can leave now. I was so upset Im a pleasant and friendly person . I don't understand people.
I was in a store in Fayetteville NC, store 0292 and recieved the worst serviced ever, I was trying to return 7 pieces of the same item--I wanted to exchange them for something else... the woman had no idea what she was doing and teried to charge me way to much money for what i was exchanging.. i asked to use her calculator and showed her that with tax the items were 11.24 and she owed me 7.49--leaving me owing her 3.75 not 6.75.. i told her i would come back when someone else was there and i would like my reciept back (the one she wrote on ALREADY) and my items--i asked her to put on the ticket that the items was not returned. she refused saying i am not going to do that, i dont have to do that, either pay me the 6.75 or leave.. i said all i want is for you to put on the ticket that i did not return the items, how hard is that. she refused. This cashier had the worst attitued ever, when i asked her for her managers name she refused to give that to me--she gave me the WRONG 1800 number to call.. and she refused to give me her name--bc some white girl (those are her words) isnt going to get me in trouble...I have yet to hear back from someone about this mess.. I want something done--there was no reason for her to be so rude and nasty....
I use to shop at Family Dollar in Tuskegee, Al. I have recently stopped !!! The store is crowded due to the lack of rmployees. They have four workers and they all are kin. I have heard of (family owned businesses) but this takes the cake.They will not hire you if you are not their cousin or friend. If you apply for a job they aren't hiring. But if you go in there they need help bad. The shelves are dusty and whomever stock the shelves don't know what they are doing because expired food is in the back and fresh goods are in the front.Because anyone who knows, know that the older items should be in front to move them out the store, so I reach to the back.. Year old cereal, I was pissed. It is a shame that, an ALL BLACK town is so lowdown and selfish, they don't want others to be employed. But the truth is if they got rid of the ones that are working there now, the store will make more money !!! Cause the ladies in there have attitudes and are slow as mollasses. They have thier noses up in the air like they are the shit. Don't speak when you come in, and don't know prices off hand. They need to clean that nasty ass store! Because honestly they shouldn't have all family n friends working there like that anyway. Give others a chance my cousin needs a job and don't mind working, but in Tuskegee they might be scared they will get exposed, because they all are thieves!!
The TUSKEGEE, ALABAMA STORE IS PATHETIC. IT HAS NOT LONG BEEN BUILT LONG, BUT THEY HAVE ALREADY SEEM TO LET FAMILY TAKE OVER!!! THAT MEANS ONLY FAMILY WORK THERE. IT IS SAD BECAUSE THEY ALL HAVE NASTY ATTITUDES. THEY DON'T SPEAK WHEN YOU COME IN THE STORE. THE LINES ARE LONG, BUT THEY ARE NEVER HIRING... THEY TALK TO OLDER PEOPLE LIKE THEY SHOULD KNOW WHERE STUFF IS IN THE STORE. NO RESPECT! I STARTED GOING TO THE NEW DOLLAR GENERAL THAT WAS BUILT ACROSS THE STREET. THE PEOPLE OVER THERE DON'T LOOK AT YOU LIKE YOUR POOR !!
Don't take a coupon to the store because you will have to fight for your rights. It took two hours to recieve a dollar. So much for Family Dollar they want your's.
I love your store! I love your prices and products, especially your Louisiana hot sauce with the pepper on the label. But I noticed 2 bottles were way in the back on the shelf and another hot sauce put in front, I hope your not discontinuing that brand. Please let me know. Family Dollar appears to hire just anyone off the street, as their store Managers. Most Managers of the Family Dollar Stores are known to be high school drop outs without any further education; nor retail management experience. It appears that Family Dollar District Managers allow their Store Managers to simply make up policy as they go along. The Store Managers do not adhere to any of the Corporate Business Rules of Management. The lack of good management within the stores is absolutely appauling. The Managers treat the employees under them, with out any concern to their home lives, children's needs, or extended family needs, even if they have a family member who is intensively ill or has passed away. The store Managers regularly humiliate employees in front of other employees and even paying customers. The Managers only appear to be concerned with their own welfare, and how much they can skip out of the store, with the bare minimum hours required to receive their paychecks. The Family Dollar Store Managers are salary paid and their own management responsibilites are regularly shoved off onto the other employees in the stores. Blaming their employees to their District Managers, for all of their own management failures and never taking the blame for their own failures to manage employees; much less a retail store environment. Family Dollar definately needs to re-evalute the skills, they require for any person to be promoted to the Store Manager Position.
