I wish no stars was a option! Store # 3215 has the worst management team I have ever seen not only does the manager let the line reach ten customers before opening another register she is talking on her cell phone. But today was the best she walked away from the register to retrieve her power cord because her phone was low! Yes we have another store in town with much better service, but it is a inconvenience to travel to. I am a manager in a quick serve restaurant and understand the pressures involved in dealing with the public. I never complain I just don't return I will no longer shop here as my business is obviously not needed and the Kroger store next door may be a few coins more but the positive experience is well worth it. It is unfortunate that such a brilliant concept is so poorly executed. Sincerely a former customer.
Does your management support organized stalking/community harassment against certain customers after they enter the store? Watch them? Follow them around? Alert area when they leave? Etc.
Worked for Family Dollar for 3 years, and it is a joke. The District Managers/ RVP's couldn't care less about their people. The lower they can set payroll, the more money they can bank, even if that is on the back of the store managers giving 60-70 hours a week. *8 months to get an extra garbage dumpster on my site, due to increase in volume and sales. Request kept getting denied, until the Health Inspector showed up and cited them $1000/day. That is the only time the RVP office takes notice to anything! So then I was supposed to go pick up a u-haul van? No, it was my problem 8 months ago, now you can eat that fine. *Upcoming project takes 32 man hours to complete, I have 175 scheduled man hours, store is open 91 hours per week. Number one, i don't have enough payroll to cover the store with 2 people at all times. Number two, i get a F****** truck in that needs to be processed. Number 3, hope the magic payroll fairy sprinkles some dust on my schedule so i'm not over payroll, because we aren't' getting any more for the project. I honestly believe i have the best staff possible, and i'm saddened by the fact i have to leave them behind for my new job. A lot of customers don't understand that many store manages are trapped by FD, and have no real opportunity to manage elsewhere without a degree and experience. For Store Managers, you have no family life. It is not acceptable for SM's to be rude to customers, but i promise you its only because they hate their jobs, not they hate their customers. I have 7 years managerial experience and my bachelor's degree, and have never seen a business run so poorly. It is an absolute disgrace what this company will do to you as an employee. You as a SM are everyone's whipping boy, the public, the dm, and the rvp. Notice to all Potential Employees: Do not buy into their BS. They will lie straight to your face about not having enough money to help your payroll, yet will gladly dump extraordinary amounts of money into the POS system and Portal! (Which are a pleasure to use, when they are not down for maintenance, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Monday mornings!)
the family dollar store on pat booker road in universal city , texas is going downhill.. first of all the manager and the workers park in the front parking spaces right at the door... everyday...the inside store is getting dirty...since the new management the store is going downhill...i dont shop there as much as i use to because of how dirty and disorganized the store is.. many times there are NO shopping baskets.. while walking thru the store the baskets will have a few items in them down different aisles where the employees have left them to get to later... hey...the shopping baskets should be for customers .. bad experiences there...no thank you
Im a store manager of a high volume store.....we have gone through alot of changes as a company. But we are steadilly growing in a declining economy..... theres many times my thoughts with corp heads are not so nice but personally....Im here because I love what I do....my customers are the greatest....the little kids make my heart warm.....I am challenged everyday....and my district manager is beyond stellar...its that kind of leader that keeps you motivated, pushes you to be better and appreciates you....all I need in my family dollar world....so corporate heads....Give jim cain a pat on the back.....I have lived in many states, have had several bosses, was a banker in suit and heels.....you have a gold mine in that man....I will forever remain loyal and a manager as long as he is my Dm or becomes an rvp! Lets keep growing!!!!
I never understood my you would play religious music as if everybody is your religion. I didn't want to shop I just wantedto leave, massive head ache. I won't be going back
I was receiently at your store in Wyandotte MI # 7558 and I tell ya that was by far the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! I have never been treated like that in that store until today... the cashier name "cindy" who was just so misserable as ever argued back and forth with me about a price that was clearly on the shelf, then to make things worse another associate who was a young colored girl was not even punched in at the time holding a box of cheeze its decided to put her 2 cents into the arguement and went back to check the shelftag as i told her it was on the end cap, the mgr(I hope it was) then came up and did a price corred for the item it was org $5.00, but the red clearenc tag sad $4.00 and then the BIG RED TAG on the shelf said 40% off of clearence for holiday scents, well the cashier did not want to do it and continued to argue with the gentleman that told her to correct it, and once again the young colored girl said out loud "I won the bed, just like I said" now i have been in customer service for a major company for over 20 yrs and would have never talked to my boss that way or talked like that to a customer so once i asked for corporates number and that store number the cashier then changed her attitude, oh ya I also forgot that there were coupons on the product that she did not want to take, she is the ONLY ONE that has ever done that, the other staff in there is great but i tell ya someone needs to go down and talk to those 2 people and maybe let them know how they act is a reflection of your company...
the dollar store down town in yazoo city mississippi have the worst manager in there she is thoughtless and likes to think that every body steels because thats what she do (nicole cole)and thats a shame they need to be watching her but there not they are watching the wrong people
I really believe that the store manager at the dutchtown la store is a RACIST. i shop at the family dollar all the time because it is close to my house and i don't have transportation. when i walk in the store she never greets me or any other african american for that matter instead she looks away and pretends to be busy however when a caucasian customer walks in she always greet them. one day i went in to buy a few things and could not find the sewing kits so i asked her where they were. she never stopped what she was doing to acknowledge me instead the cashier (a really nice caucasian girl) showed me where they were. as i was waiting in line to be checked out another customer asked her to show them where something was (a caucasian customer) and she immediatly stopped what she was doing to bring them to where the product was found. i spend my money there just as they do if not more and was very appauld by her actions.
I recently left my job for location 05451, I have never in my life been treated so badly by anyone like our DM did to many of us!! From cashier to Management I would never in my life suggest such a company to work for, I went in as Asst. Manager and all of a sudden because the DM had treated the Manager like a Dog she up and left!! My training was very poorly done, so much I was totally clueless about! Never would she do our Evals because she was afraid to give is a pay raise because our weekly payroll had to stay under a certain amount! I drove 46mins to work and ha requested a transfer closer to home would the DM do it NO!! Once the Manager had left leaving us in a complete mess DM promoted me to manager an I told her I didn't know much because of my training and ASKED to have someone properly train me did that happen NO!! So needless to say not everything was being done right and when she would show up Treat me badly because things weren't done properly she said Someone has to get in trouble because she wasn't getting in trouble by Her boss!! I was pulling 60-70hrs aweek not seeing my children (like she cared if you did or not)!! She has gone through so many different Managers in her district it sad! I wanna know why corporate isn't wondering why and investigating the reason why she can't keep people! But it's obves CORPORATE can careless as long as money keeps coming in and people continue to work and be treated like dogs and the money keeps flowing in!!! Before working for the company I was a big shopper of Family Dollar now forget it, I nor my family will help support such a business who allows their employees to be treated like crap!!!
i work for the family dollar in dutchtown louisiana and noticed that things seem to go unnoticed when the store manager is involved. last month, a few weeks before christmas my store manager had a return without a reciept that total over $150. now store policy is anything returned without a reciept that is equal to or greater than $5 should be given back as store credit, insead my manager jill boudreax told me to give her cash back. any person in my position would have done what she said, so i gave her the cash back. now every manager knows that you should hold on to your reciept especially if the merchandise comes from the store that you are the store manager of. but it has been a month later and no one in corporate has even brought up the return without a reciept that was given cash back for over $150. if it had been the other way around they would have been all over the cashier who didn't have her reciept. but then again it wouldd have never happened because the cashier would've never got the cash back.IJS
I have been working retail for over five years and never in my retail career have i been treated so bad. I am an employee at the family dollar in dutchtown la and i have never met anyone like my store manager jill. She is a very rude person and very hard to please. I am a very hard working person and love working retail until i started working for jill. As a cashier i have to recover the whole store while her assistants work the register. I have never seen her or any of her other assistant recover the whole store. I have been unloading truck, staging, and working out freight all in the same day. I have never seen her or any of her managers do all of those things in the same day. If they unload truck they don't have to stage, if they stage they don't have to work freight, and if they work freight they don't have to unload truck. Recently my hours have been cut from over thirty a week to sometimes tweleve. I felt as though i was being treated unfair so i asked for a transfer. Jill said that she wasn't giving me a transfer but i should quit instead. So i asked for the dm's number and she refused to give it to me. I then called and asked one of the assistants for the number and she wrote him up for giving it to me. I talked to the dm and he said he didn't understand why she would be cutting my hours because he had only heard great things about me and that he would talk to her. The next week i had two days monday to unload truck and friday to recover the store. Mind you that i am a cashier. That week i went to work the monday and gave her my jury duty paper for the next day. When i reported to work the friday i had been replaced and had not been informed so i was sent home. The next week i only had one day, truck day. On that day i reported to work and was in for the shock of my life. That day was the day i realized that she was trying to make me quit before i could be transfered. That day i reported to work and me and the other two assistants were waiting for the truck driver to wake up so we could begin unloading when one of the assistants got a phone call form jill. She was running late (as usual) and she didn't want us standing around so she assigned each of us a task. One assistant was told to count the safe and get the store ready to open. The other assistant was told to get the stock room ready for truck. And i was told to sweep the stockroom and sweep and mop the whole store. That day when she got to work i refused to say anything to her because i was taught if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. This week i had 11 hours and next week i have none. I contacted the dm again to let him know that things weren't getting any better. I have started looking for another job because it seems to me that the transfer i've asked for may never happen.
Family dollar here in corpus christi has went down hill. They have hostile working environment and the managers are not only rude to the employees, but to the customers. Customers have called in to complain but its all swept under the rug by the area manager. AM and managers alike cuss out employees, also calling them useless and worthless. One manager physically grabbed an assistant manager by the arm, swinging him around to face her... asking him if he was stupid or what. All this is being ignored.. why? These are mothers, fathers,sons and daughters from college students to the military. When is FAMILY dollar going to take notice and put things right?

I have often shopped at Family Dollar stores in Birmingham, Albama.It use to be very disturbing to go into family dollars in predominately black neighborhoods. The stores floors were very dirty and stocks was always out of order. I was glad to see a change in the stores appearance. What really disturbed this holiday season was lack of cashier. Their customer service approach has improve dbecause you are acknowledge when you enter the stores. I was really hurt today because I got the sales paper in the mail and was excited to see bedspreads and curtains on sale.The ad read 40% off a selected group of spreads. I went to the first store and selected a bedspread and three sets of curtains to match. When I got to the register the bedspread did not ring as sales price. The cashier called a manager up, but she was unaware of the sale. I showed her the sales paper. She said that it said a selection. I looked over at rhe shelves and asked where are tha selected ones? It was one spread that had a 40% sign. I became upset and went several blocks up the street to another Family Dollar. I got the spread I wanted and headed to the regisrer. They had great selection with 40% signs on all the shelves. When I got to the register it was regular price. I ask the sales clerk, but she din't know. Again I showed them the ad, she read 40% off a selection. I told her that the hold section of spreads were marked with 40% off. She act as if it was no big deal. A young lady came over with a scanner to check prices. She called the clerk to let her know that there were signs on all of the spreads. The lady began to scan all the spreads and was only able to find three that were on sale. My husband tried to tell her that it was false advertisment, but she did not say anything. On our way out he remined the cashier that signs were on all the spreads. She replied in a nasty attitude the she was told. I must say that I walked out of the store and will not return. We moved to the neighborhod this summer. Also, on Cristmas Day I went to this store and the sales clerk was telling another customer that she will be getting off at 3 p.m., but they had to stay and restock the store. Her commnet was that the manager did not care about nothing but getting stock out. He did not care about customer service.
Store #7285 had the best cashier/asst.magr.ever in Linda who they discharged(FIRED) a week before Christmas 2011.She had been the only employee at that store who had stayed the longest and put up with their (Family Dollars)BS the longest.she always spoke when you walked in the door always smiled no matter how her day was going,always asked about you and yours and loved the children even when they were unruly.She alwys helped us elderly folks out no matter what it was about whether we were short or just needed help to our car.one time she even helped me when I came close to passing out and called my family to come get me.She looked after me till they got there.She will be missed by us all and shame on you Family Dollar for getting rid of the best and keeping the worst in your store.
I was just at the Family Dollar Store in Pahrump, NV, and I believe I was checked out by the Manager, I forgot to get his name, but he has a close cropped beard and is a little chunky. I have never been talked to in such a way by an employee of any store. I am 72 years old and he treated me like I was a stupid 2 year old just because I misread a sign. I will never step foot in that store again and I intend to tell my many friends about the incident and I'm sure they won't either. I will go to the other dollar store where they treat you with respect. No wonder stores are closing all over with employees like that.
Today I was doing some last minute shopping for Christmas gifts at the local Family Dollar in Orangeburg SC..store number 6411. Upon going to check out I was confronted by an employee named Mary and accused of shoplifting!! Had she seen me take anything? No!! Was I in the store long just walking around? No!!! The reason i was confronted was because I had my purse!! Who in their right mind doesn't take their purses with them in the stores during the holiday season?? I got very upset and told her how rude she was and that I would be contacting corporate and I asked for the number and she gave me the incorrect number on purpose!! The number she gave me was a cell phone number! How do I know it was a cell phone number?? Because it started with the same area code and first 3 numbers as mine!! I told her I knew the number was incorrect and that I would look on the internet for it because not only can I afford to buy whatever I want, but I could also afford to purchase my own internet!! Then I left the store. Needless to say that I will not only never shop at this store ever again, but I'll never shop at another Family Dollar because of the way I was profiled!!!
I always shopped at family dollar after it was managed by Kathy Olson,before she took over the store it was a junk hole,she had turned one other family dollar store around from a junk hole into a million dollar store,then she tranferd to the chetek,wisc. store and turned that into a great place to shop. she has been there for about five years and the store was doing great,but they fired her a weekago because the people working for her kept forgetting to approve there own hours. this was bullshit the dm should have fired these other workers and not her, Now the manager they have in there is rude to customers and the good workers that kathy had. I will be filling a complait to the owners of family dollar,because when I asked this manager where something was,because it had been moved, {she said look for it yourself and if you can't find it you don't need it! I will never set foot in that store again until Kathy Olson is hired as the manager. The dm should also be fired, ithink he is making it with the manager he put there. I would estimate I spent about 3-4thousand a year there.
