I am currently employed at the Shakopee MN Dollar General, and I have worked for several great companies in my day, and I must admit i'm taken a back by the Dollar General in which i'm currently employed. They run skeleton crews on busy days, and my biggest beef is the scheduling. I get my schedule 2 days before i'm to work it,the hours are always different, and it's weekly. I have a disabled child, and he's taking summer school this year, and i'm already experiencing major daycare delima's because of the 2 days notice without school in the mix. I have never worked for a company that had this weekly schedule, that's arbitrary at best, and impossible at the least. I'm shocked they have as good a crew as they do, but it's not lost on me that i'm the only employee besides the manager with school age children. I have spoken to my Boss several times on the schedule, and he promises to get it 2 weeks out, and it doesn't happen. I love the people I work with, and the customers are great for the most part, however, if this doesn't get rectified soon, I will be unable to maintain employment with them. I do not believe i'm the only one, and i am starting to wonder if this would fall under the family Responsibility Discrimination Act. If I do have to quit this job, I will be contacting a lawyer.

I happen to pass through Lenox, Ga and stopped at Dollar General and left the store very frustrated. When I got there the shelves were not stocked and several long carts were in the isles and i couldn't get to what i needed. I spoke to someone who was in the store shopping and they said that those carts have been in the isles for days and it happens often. The store was not in order and just not clean. I am in management job myself in retail and if I let my merchandise sit and not be stocked, i wouldn't have a job. That's why i felt i needed to report this. This is also a safety issue. It would be a violation of OSHA. The lady i talked to who was shopping also said that Family Dollar was gonna be building a block over and she hopes they do a better job of serving the Lenox community.

I am writing about the family dollar store in Vineland NJ #04286 the store has gone down hill in the past two months since a new manager took over the shelves are not stocked today I asked about an item 6/15/12 and was told it will not be stocked until next week> Is this any way to keep customers?

I had to call the police to store #00964. The supervisor there is named Jeremy Jones. Location is 7929 Airline Hwy Metairie, LA. Ph # 504 737-4261. Police complaint # 15558-12. First of all I had to speak to him first. He then rang up my stuff. I gave him two coupons but he left then on the counter. I was putting stuff in my cart so I assumed he rang up the coupons. But when I looked on my receipt they were not deducted and I was over charged for a phone that they put on sale that was not suppose to go on sale until the next week. He told me he would give me the sale price anyway but he didn't. After looking at my receipt I rushed back over to the register and told him what he did. He told me I would have to wait after 6 other customers. I told him I have ice cream and I need to go ahead and take care of this. The other customers told him to let me finish. He told me no and I have to wait in a rude way. There was another employee behind the registers and did not offer to help. I asked the other employee to please help me and the supervisor told him not to that I'm going to wait rather I like it or not. I am a 47 years old women who shops on a regular basis and never encountered such rude behavior. I told him I will call the police and he said "I'll get witnesses against you". I never raised my voice or said an obscene word to him and he kept talking about it in a loud manner for the everyone in the store to hear. He then proceeded to tell me to get out of his store and never come back. When the police came he lied to them about everything. I felt it necessary to call the police so your company can see the seriousness of this matter. I will stop my patronage to other stores because of him. Family dollar is a good store with great prices and other great employees. This person Jeremy Jones has control issues.

I shop at the Family Dollar in Vineland NJ since they got a new manager about two months ago the store has really gone downhill the shelves are empty they do not stock the shelves as they should the store is just a mess

I have applied to the store located at 500 Geneva Ave, Dorchester, Ma 02122 store #07802. The Store Manager Kurt has stated that he has not seen my application there and has called you to talk with you and was put on hold for 45 minutes, then hung up on several times. I would like to start at this store as soon as possible.

Yesterday I went to one of your new stores located in Ocean County NJ..I asked for a pack of cigarettes and was immediately asked for my ID..Since I am way over the carding age, actually, I am a SR. I was very resentful of this., and even more annoyed when the employee said it "was a state regulation to card everyone",this in fact is not true and you need to inform your employees of this.. it must be your regulation and they should be told that. Asking for ID when it is obvioulsy not necessary becomes nothing more then an invasion of privacy. There were 4 people behind me who were just as annoyed at this ridicolous demand. I have no idea if they were smokers or not but even if they weren't..I am sure they will spread the word just as I intend to. You have alot of competition here for not only cigarettes but other products, you may want to give that some consideration if you want this store to succeed..

The stores that you have in Killeen, Texas need more security and also more employers to work the night shift. I've enter one store at around 8:00 pm and there were just two people working that is not safe for them. If you care about your employer's and their family. You will address this issue right NOW!!!!! Also, I visit another store down the street and I see the same thing. I will not go to any of your stores at night to shop. Need cameras in the parking, in the back of the store and some security system with the police. Just a little food for thought very concern and worried, Sally ( just move here from California)

From Hot Springs South Dakota, I live in this town and with tourist season upon us,I think this store needs to be cleaned up.The trash can out front hasn't been dumped in over two weeks. The trash is on the ground by the front doors. The floors are filthy. The isles are always blocked, with boxes. The manager and staff are unkept.Always standing around and they could be cleaning.I was in managment for many years, and they would be out the door. They take forever to wait on you, they have friends or are on cell phones. And you get no service til they are done.Today I rang the bell for service and the two workers were outside smoking by the front door and didn't come in til they were done. Will not return to this store again. Thank you.tracye64@hotmail.com

I'm so feed up with Familt Dollar accusing it's workers of stealing. If the company wasn't so damn cheap they would at least have better L.P. In the store I work in there's always two people the real thiefs obsrve and take notice . If the lines are long and those two people are on the register of course the theifs are going to have a field day. They even steal when L.P. is there but their but instead of watching them their watching the employees. They don't pay enough to begin with, I wasn't told that there is no annual raise until months after I was employed and the work load don't even get me strated. As a manager you have to be a stocker, unload trucks, make schedules, handle over 10-15 different tasks and have them complete in a week, all for peanuts. I've never been the type to steal or take from a company but I don't see how they make it like it's such a shock when people do. They need to raise their hourly pay because current employees as well as ex-employees are feed uo and that's why so many of their stores are getting robbed.

My job at 2830 is in jeopardy because I have a manager who keeps harrassing me..... scrutinizing my every move.. give the customers their receipt this way.. hand them their bags this way. WHAT THE HELL....I been doing my job 11 months without any customer service complaints. Now I can't seem to do any thing right?! Made me a total nervous wreck after 1 and a half hours of trying to work under her bullshit this evening.. I told her I had to go home.. as I was not feeling well.

I'm employee number 787568 out of store number 2830 in St. Louis...I'm scheduled to report at my job at 4pm this afternoon...and I'm nervous as hell.. I have not been able to sleep nor eat very well. Dear God why must I endure this anxiety?.. I need the hotline number for Family Dollar.

Went to walnut street family dollar in green bay, wi and manager jeff was so rude. Maybe because I was using coupons. But im still a paying cystomer and they shouldnt treat us any differently. What a jerk. That goes for all my family dollar experience.

dont work here im an assistant horiable pay i feel like a cashier than a manager.

I made purchases in store Family Dollar Store located at 114 Xenia Towne Square, Xenia, OH 45385. The store was not crowded although there were no carts to be found inside the premises. My neice and I used a shopping basket for the purchases and upon checking out, placed the basket on the counter top for the clerk to process. "Johny" according to the employee name tag looked at us dumbfoundedly and it took me a few seconds to process the look which meant, unload the basket yourself which we did otherwise we would still be standing there. His attitude went straight downhill from that point on. He handed me back my ID, watched me put my things back into my purse and hand bags to my neice, in preparation to leave his miserable presence. We are getting ready to leave the building when he says 'you need to sign here" pointing at the machine at the end of the counter. This meant getting my glases back out of my purse leaving my 9 year old neice stranded with the bags. By now, I have had about all of the rudeness I am going to take from this young man and so I asked "Johny" if he was the store manager assuming that he would tell me he was regardless of his position. He replied 'yes'. I proceeded to ask him if he had been a manger long. His response was again 'yes. I then suggested that he might want to be thinking about changing jobs adding that his people skills needed some serious improvement to which he said he did quite well managing the store. I am really sick of dealing with disrespectful, rude young people, especially managerial people particularly after dumping $70.00 into the company's till. In today's economy, you are lucky to have your doors open and this is something you should remind your employees of. No doors open, no job. The citizens who try to support local businesses deserve better that what I experienced first hand from Store Mangager- Johny. Disappointed in Xenia, OH! Kathleen B. STreet

There should be a rating for 0 stars for real. I live in Kansas City, Missouri, and shop at the store located at 75th & Prospect. My usual acceptance is of the carts and boxes blocking every isle, more merchandise on the floor then the shelves and some items, such as toilet paper, being located in two distinctly different areas of the store. Today I have to say took the cake. THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITIONING AND NO FANS CIRCULATING THE AIR! Now we all know that if this store were located in a different area these conditions would not exist. The parking lot is real need of repair, and then you find a flat spot to park and are expected to sweat until you can find parking elsewhere. Personally, I will not shop there anymore. Family Dollar had kept me from making so many trips to WalMart. But I will say that no matter where the WalMart is located, it is at least organized. I know why there is no air, someone tried to steal the compressor, as reported by your staff. However, if customers are forced to shop in an uncomfortable environment, their concern about the condition of the store is never going to be primary. Hire some people that give a damn about ease of shopping; hire some people that will somehow require that their store is always in good, if not excellent, condition; then give them decent working environments and enforce professionalism. Bottom line, get the boxes out of my way, pickup the merchandise, and turn on the air or lock the door!

The Family dollar store located 2650 Canal Street in New Orleans is deplorable inside and out. The outside of the store consistently have trash, and vagrants sitting on the steps. The inside of the store is not well stocked, items have not been replenished in months. The store constantly have boxes in the aisles blocking one to move freely in the store. Most of the cashiers seem to operate on "brain dead" time. Usually, there is one cashier with others walking around gossiping or doing nothing. They can see that customers are waiting to be checked out, and it matters nothing to them. Convenience means nothing to me, I value customer service, the cleanliness of the store in and out, the friendliness and astutness of the cashiers and other workers, well stocked shelves, and clear aisles over price and convenience. There was life before Family Dollar, and with service such as this there will be life after.

Why is it the management in salamnca can't handle their job. My Pregnantgirlfriend is not the 2ndmanagement in charge yet dawn called her every two hours to say god knows what. While I was shopping at your Mosinee, WI Family Dollar a very rude woman was working. Her name was Jessica and she was wearing a headband. She is not the first rude woman I have encountered working there, finally fed up with the behavior I decided to make this report. I spend quite a bit of money in that store as it is really the only store to shop at in Mosinee. While I was filling my cart with merchandise to buy I asked my 15 year old son to go grab a 2 liter of soda and bring it to me. When he did she confronted him and yelled at him "what the hell are you doing with that soda!" He said I am taking it to put it in my mom's cart. Then the whole time we were shopping she was yelling through the store and going in and out and yelling at someone in the parking lot to "get the hell out of here" and coming back in and out yelling to other employees "that she was gonna get those kids" I have a very good job and each time I go into the store I am usually spending about $50 bucks or more on household stuff for myself and my place of employment. I don't appreciate being treated like trash as if my kids are going to steal there when we are shopping together. There are many people that I talk to in the community that will drive the 13 miles to Wausau to shop rather then step foot in that store because of the rudeness of some of the employees. Some act like you are wasting their time shopping there and interupting them just by needing to check out. Please send someone their to teach these people some manners and to learn how to treat their customers or you will lose another families business.
