i been trying to get a job in norfolk va and everytime i go in and ask are they hireing they say know. please in need a job and i have my application on line.
The Bainbridge, NY Family Dollar store has gone to crap in the last month! The customer service is terrible from most of the employees. The store manager Jeff is rude to customers and I feel like when I shop in there I'm being sexually harassed by him. He is dirty, rude and talks very inapropratly to people. I shopped in this store all the time and now I am so uncomfortable going in the store so I have chose to stop shopping in there. The store looks like crap and the freight is never out when you ask the manager if he can get you something from the back he tells you no. Fire exits have been blocked several times and employees have been left alone with no help and no keys for the store. If I ran my business like this I would be shut down. The district manager Jill has been notified of the issues and has done nothing. I will be contacting the CEO of the company and letting him know my concerns!

i went to the family dollar at cove terace there was this man name john working and he was just on his cell phone talking and couldnt even help me and then i went to the bathroom in the store and it is very dirty backstock room nasty it used to be a very nice german lady in there and the store was clean but now that store is going down hill
I want to know what kind of equal opportunity employer allows their employees to harrass and bully an assistant manager who just happens to be gay? Bullying him to the point that he feels like his life is not worth any thing...I think that maybe you should get rid of Tiffany and Juanna in your Town Creek Alabama Store....Obviously you cannot control your Managers, District Managers, or even your cashiers. Not only do they Harrass your employee and do things like put heather on his name tag and call him a faggot, but they are rude to employees and Juanna is constantly out of dress code. She never just hands your money back it usually gets tossed down on the counter she never says thank you and have a nice day. NOTHING. She is the most rude hateful person I have ever met. Not to mention that she started a physical altercation with a customer while she was on the clock and the little dirt bag still has her job becuase TIFFANY the manager and KAY the district manager keep covering for her. This store has had more in store and district manager complaints on this girl than you people can count on both feet and hands yet she still has a job. You need to get off your butts and run your business properly. It's not only a matter of customers at this point people one of your employees is fighting for his life due to bullying and harassment by his coworker....DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!
We just encountered the rudest black manager at family dollar in Memphis store number 08735. He quit what he was doing to stare at my wife while she was shopping and when I asked him what he was staring at he started following us down the aisles yelling he was checking aisles and saying " I'm not starring at anything and followed us to the register making his presence known then he came to the door while we were getting in our car starring again!!! Pure ghetto and we will NEVER shop at another family dollar ever again, though I may stop back in later to teach him some manners! Truly people I think he was on drugs!!!! Pitiful as they come! my wife felt like she was being violated!
I went to Family Dollar Store located at 6526 Lyons Avenue Houston, Texas 77020 store # 01489 where I purchased at total of 35.00 dollars of merchandise. Time registed on the reciept was 17:11:20 Several of the items were roach sprays. By the time I got home because I had to add water to my leaking radiator, it was 5:30 or little later. I started unpacking my items and opened one of the roach sprays. In doing so, I felt one can lighter than the other one (They were pack together with plastic. The item only cost $5.00 dollars-no big deal. Yet, I knew I needed the item so I returned to the store. I waited in line and the cashier or manager as she called herself-Karen flat out told me, "I'm not refunding this item." My next statement was WHY- I really don't want my money back just let me exchange it. She said she had to call the head manager-Perlita- and she did. When she hung up she repeat her statement-I'm not going to refund it come tomorrow in the morning. First of all-when I need something from the store and I don't have money, the store does not allow me to take it and pay for it the next day. My response to them is your are stealing my money if you don't return my money. She said she did not care. Call corporate office and I told her that corporate office is closed right now and her response was no it's still open. I called the number she gave me-866-377-6420. I called the number (4) pressed 1 typed in the store number Iknow it is not that much money but why can big corporate companies can get away with it. I've have always done what I have been asked to do by the law. Why then is your company causing me so much grief. I needed the item not the money. The injustice of corporate world. I am still very upset. After being there and asking her why she wouldn't refund the items infront of all customers-because she would not take the time to listen to my consern privately and then replying something under her breath causing all the othe customer laugh has caused me such humiliation. I felt she thought I was trying to steal from your company. When I asked her name she gave me her first and last name, when I asked the cashier that was dealing with my returns- she refused to give me her name and she had her tag turned around. Karen told her she did not have to give me her name. Then the cashier told me that I was being filmed on the camera and that everyone can see that the can was empyt. I read to her the sticker your company has posted was then lying to the customer and they were misrepresenting your company. She then accused me of harrassing her and I replied call the police then. Her response was I'm not calling the police. I like my money to be refunded. I can not go to your store and I would need it to be mailed. I have never been so humiliated. In all the years I have patronized your store, I have never ever had any trouble with your store until today. I remember when you started this particular branch and how I rooted for your success. Now I am very disappointed at who you hire and the way you operated the managerial staff. It seems they have no authority to make wise judgement. Karen was the young lady that bagged my items and the other young lady who refused to give me her name is the one that rang up the items. I wasn't gone to long from the store just enought time to put water in my radiator, drop off 20.00 to a nieghbor and get home not too far from the store still within the same zip code when I noticed the unequality of weight from the cans while putting them away. If I have placed this complaint in the wrong place please redirect me to the correct place. Please note that the phone number given to me was correct but when asked to press 4 and give the store number it beeped as if it was a fax machine and it did not let met say anything.
Went to store in Pittsfield massachusetts #02209 and was accused of shoplifting and embarrassed in front of 20 people. Had to prove I didn't shoplift and was given no apology for being wrongly accused. The district manager Jesus Madrino was there and he was very unprofessional. He called me several names and told me even if I called up to complain he would be the one handeling my complaint so I better not waste my time. Are these the type of people who family dollar promote to district manager?
SC Family Dollar Store-Saint George-00518/1....On today i called to check the status of my application that i did and the old manager was very rude soon as she answer the phone...This is how the conversation went: Me:Hey, how you doing? Manager:Hi Me: I was calling to check on an application i put in.. Manager: And??? Me: I wanted to know the status of it Manager: well at the end of the application it tells you that we will contact you so you dont have to call..Im fully staff right now and not looking for anyone Me: Ooooh Ok then Manager: (Hangs up in my face)...................She was so disrespectful to me over the phone. Im glad it wasn't face to face. I mean she could have did a better job then that. Now she makes me not want to even work under her. All she had to do was say we're not hiring right now but I will keep your application on file or something similiar to that instead of being so rude and nasty and then hanging up in my face.
Worst Family Dollar store I have been in..the one on Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia,PA 19135 #03364. The new manager there is so nasty she's losing the store customers left and right. She thinks she can talk to customers any old way she likes. She needs to go for retraining.
My 11 yr old grandaughter works for her own money and has been going up the road by her self to the Family Dollar store in Nelsonville Ohio for at least 2 yrs to purchase things for herself. Tonight she was advised she could not be in there without adult supervision!!! What the heck? I'm sorry if that store is haveing problems with thiefs if this is the problem - but not ALL children steal. My grandaughter would not even think of it because number 1 she is not that way. and number 2 I know how much money she has and if she ever came home with something that wasn't paid for-I would personally take her back to the store to take care of it. Not all kids are bad and I think it's terrible that she is being treated like that. I know now..That if she is not permitted to shop by herself....I won't ever shop there again and it's too bad because it is the closest place to my home and we use to use the store quite a bit. I need to know if this is a new "store law" or if she will be able to shop there again alone. I also called customer service and as of the time I am writing this have not received a call back.
NEVER EVER WORK FOR THIS PEICE OF CRAP COMPANY!!!!! They have non sence policies and don't wanna spend a damn penny more to put one more person on the night shift, especially at the beginning of the month when it's busy! This company can kiss my a** when I find another job which hopefully will be soon.
I'm a regular shopper at Family Dollar located at Pearl and Brookpark rd Cleveland Ohio. Just have to tell you please do something in your store to train your cashiers on customer service or June 22, 2012 will have been the last I ever shop there!
The Family Dollar in Corsicana Texas, and Kerens Texas are full of rascist employees and management. They treat the black, and hispanics like they are thieves, liars, and dont need to shop at there store. I wittness the Corsicana store send there only black manager else where becuase she complained about rascial remarks and treatment. Once they mved her the treatment remained the same. After she given a two month notice of leaving. She was denied vacation pay, and accumulated time personal time. they lied to the district and said no notice was given when there is hard copy proof. The manager is committing welfare fraud so i guess that needs to be put out there in the open so the government would know. maybe they will experience how it feels to not have money that is due to them given in the times they are needed. I don't recommend these family dollar stores to anyone anywhere at anytime. What a disgrace to the people of the town.
I just left the Family Dollar Store #06977 3369 HWY 9E Little River, SC and have never been treated so rude by the Assistant Manager by the name of Johnathan. His customer service skills are just unreal. I have had several issues with this associate with being rude to customers. If you ask him where something is located he will tell you that its located on a shelf in the rudest voice possible. I hope the corporate office reads this as I'm very upset with the service that I received today from this Family Dollar store. Customer service is the #1 thing in any retail business or for that matter in any business. If you cant treat the customers with respect then you shouldn't be in a store/business working with customers. He was so rude that his cashier even stated that his customer service skills were the worst she has seen from working in retail. I hope something is done about him or you will lose customers. How can a business expect to survive in the money making business of retail with employees that have poor customer service skills?

I have a serious complaint which needs to be addressed. I live in Newark New Jersey and there's a Family Dollar store right across the street. I went into the store to purchase a pack of cigarettes. I was told by the cashier I had to show ID. He was very polite and I asked him call the manager up front. He did and he stated " it's store policy to ask for ID." I understand policy and I didn't want to cause any problem but I insisted where are the signs stating this policy. He seem old enough to be my son. He also was very polite. I told both of them (employees) I will be contacting the headquarters about this incident. If you are enforcing a customer to show ID when purchasing cigarettes, then put up documentation stating so!
I shop at Family Dollar Store #03364 7310 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. I usually spend between $30 to $50 there, sometimes twice a week, but I am really tired of dirty floors, blocked aisles full of boxes, rude employees and a new manager that is totally disrespectful of the customers. I have seen them treat older customers like dirt and I have no idea why the manager lets the staff huddle in the back of the store discussing boyfriends when they could be clearing aisles of piles of boxes, or even helping customers. This is one of the worst stores I shop in but as I am tired of the disrespect and a manager who couldn't care less I will go to Dollar Tree from now on. Everyone there is just so helpful and the place is clean as a whistle. So long Family Dollar, I can't say its been nice to know you beause it's been horrible.
Family Dollar #5532 3748 N Elston Ave Chicago, IL 60618-4242 Phone: 773-588-3241 For whatever reason - a large bottle of bleach just fell of a shelf and splash me and an employee. This store does not have eye wash stations or even ANY training for the employees on how to handle a chemical spill. As the customer - I had to walk them through how to flush her eye - which had been directly splashed with bleach. My skin was burning from so much bleach sitting on my skin. VERY sad that the store manager didn't even want to come check on the wellbeing of an employee and a customer - Yes get that it is Father's Day and all - but this is not something you pass off to untrained people.
There were 20 people in line at family dollar with one cashier working no one came up front to help stood in a long line with no air conditioner and with the temp being 102 degrees!!
