On Jan.13,2012 i was going to the family dollar on Great Trinity Forest Way in Dallas,Tx store #6402.When i turned off main road into the entry way my car fell into a hole that was 2ft. drop.It felt like I hit a wall.The rebar was poking out .It put a hole in both my wheels.I pulled to the store to show them.I had a blow out on my front tire and a week within on the back one.My car at the time was only 3 months old.I called family dollar they pushed it off onto the city .The city went out to the store.The City of Dallas and Family Dolllar meet up.The City showed them that it was their drive way.Now Family dollar fixed the pot hole.I call again and the insurance WONT RETURN YOUR CALL!!!!!!!!They agreeded to pay for the replacement on my car if they did repair the hole.OK why no return calls????? I have not shopped at any of the Family Dollar stores again.Maybe ..............Family Dollar Corporate Office will give me that call?

I was store mgr for 10 years with family dollar since then i gave the position up, After reading some of the complaints I totally agree with them all. I also knew Jim Cain as being a caring, helpful and a great DM. These |DM's they have now where never a store mgr so they have NO IDEA of the time and effortit is to run a store. Ur payroll is ridiculous. Mgrs have to be cashier and stocker till they have a cashier come in, if they have the payroll to do so. I would never recommend working for this company. They don't care about there employees, its not a fun place to wrk anymore. There are mgrs that should'nt even hold that position, but they still keep them around. The general idea everyone has is to fire the high paying mgrs and bringin young ones (who have little training) at a lower payrate. Way to go family $

Greetings i just phoned the complaint dept at the main headquarters of Family Dollar and the automated voice says that it is full. Therefore i am writing in regards to a complaint i wish to file on store. On 4-20-2012 I was in line to purchase a bike lock. Time 1:45pm Store location 1936 West 25th, Cleveland, Ohio 44113 (near Westside). The cashier name is Armand, the manager name is Shawn. Armand was flirting with a customer and she was flirting back while at the same time he was rapping up with the customer before me. The total price of $5.66 was due. I put a $20 bill on the counter and told Armand that i have a penny to give him with the $20 bill. I was waiting on him to get the penny off the counter. Instead he went to count out 4 pennies to give me! I said," I don't want those pennies, thats why im giving you one". He said i cant accept them because it would mess up my drawer of money.....I was shocked for him talking to me this way for i saw a log of nickels in his register. and asked to see a manager...He in turn was shocked at me and hollard...OHhhh MYyyyyy GODdddddd! SSSHHHAAAWWWNNN! Shawn did come and i explained to him that i did not want that lock if it meant I had to accept pennies...Before shawn could address the issue with both of us Armand said,Tsk Tsk Tsk...here take your money, This is ridiculous! I said, young man you need to Be grateful you even got a job. If a customer asks then give it to them so they can go their marry way. By the way if this job meant for you to count nothing but pennies all day long then that is your job. Do it! I grabed my bag and left. Before i could get 20 steps out of the store I looked in my bag and there was no receipt. Shawn was able to find it and hand deliver it to me. I will never go back into that store again. I am writing today to complain about a family dollar employee! An employee that is supposedly a manager! I visit the store one afternoon, and I only had a few things to grab, so it was just an in out trip! The girl that was working, knows of me. By no means are we friends. Well, by the time I finish my shopping I made my way to the register. It was kinda slow but there were customers in the store. The employee looks at me in front of everybody and says "girl u need to quit losing weight!" then she goes on to say, "oh and I need to talk to u about something!" so im like ok???? Not really knowing what she could have to talk to me about, shes already embarrassed me enough, talking about my recent weight loss. (that was unintentional, caused by stress, and the unexpected loss of my father) so.. Considering all that Iya my turn to check out, and she looks at me and says "are u stealing from my store?" SHOCKED!!! I reply very Frank "f*** no!!!!" She then goes on to say that me and my husband have been stealing, her reasoning being that when I came in we would spend an hour and only buy 3 things! Um hello! I can do that anywhere!!!!!! Matter of fact, I feel that I could spend five hours in the store and and buy 1 thing!!!!!! Now as far as some background, me and my family had moved to the next town over and hasnt really been to that specific location in a while! So for her to tell me that she jus seen all of us in there and suspects in stealing, is complete and utterly OUTRAGEOUS! Not to mention EVERYTIME I WENT INTO THE STORE I WOULD SPEND ALREADY $50!!!!!! Easy! For her to come at me like that blew my mind, I jus couldnt believe my ears! To make a long story short, she started talking about calling the cops, girl, u are messing with the wrong one!!!!!! So the argument ensued, after I honestly tried to keep my mouth shut! But she really had a HORRIBLE attitude, and what nerve coming at a paying customer that way! I dont care if she feels lie she knows me or not! Because, obviously she does not!!!! She is young, rude, completely unprofessional, and damn sure we no business being a manager ! Anyway, I contacts corporate to report the incident, and. So far no response! I will continue to attempt to make contact with someone, until that lil girl is gone!!!!!!! I love the store, never ever had problems out of anyone else there. Its my hometown family dollar store, and I be damned if I let that chick stop me from shopping there! Oh, did I forget to mention, I. Think she put me on the ban list!!!! UGHHHHHHHHHHHH! Ya that will soon be amended! I am writing to complain about the store in Independence on 23rd Street in Missouri. I shop or shall I say used to shop there but today was the last straw for me and my business which is quite considerable. The manager is rude, condensending, demanding and refuses to be helpful. This is not the first time I have encountered his nastiness. Today, like 3 other times this has happened, there was a rack of summer shirts with a sale sign reading 2 for 9.00. All of the shirts on the rack were 8.00, not a single one had a different price. So I selected 2 shirts and went to pay for them. The manager "Steve", stated that no, these shirts are not the correct price point. I stated that the sign stated 2 for 9.00. So he goes to the rack and brings back the sign and states see, to get the sale price the shirts have to be marked at 6.00. I said, there are no shirts that are marked 6.00. He said that wasn't his problem. He went on to say he is just "following the rules." He then went on to say that he may not like stopping at a stop sign, but since it is a law, he stops. This is no different." I asked for the number to corporate, and he stated that he might give me his district manager's number, but that nothing would be done because, "I have been with the company over 15 years and they "can't touch me." I again asked for the corporate number and he said he was "too busy". I told him I guess I would look it up on line, he replied "you just do that. I don't care. Corporate doesn't mess with stores like mine. You are just wasting your time, like you are wasting mine now." I was not only furious but shocked at this managers attitude and lack of customer service skills. I have managed retail stores before and know that making the customer happy even if it means taking a loss until the problem is fixed is the only way to keep customers coming back. This is not the first time this has happened. There was a time where both NYC makeup and Coke were advertised sales. When I went to purchase those items and they didnt scan correctly, he said he didnt have to honor the coupons or the adds. He went over and pulled the sale tags down and said, "See, they are no longer on sale." I went to the rack with the adds and showed him that the sale was still available for 3 more days. He then instucted his clerks that these items were no longer on sale and then picked up the rest of the flyers on the rack and through them away. He did this in front of several other customers that had the same items in their carts. He announced to us all that our items were no longer on sale. I am curious what should we as your once loyal customers are to do when this happens? Besides posting on this site, which is a crap shoot if anyone actually looks at it, where are we to turn when these kinds of things continuously happen. I think it will be a cold day in hell before I shop at a Family Dollar again. I guess until I hear something back, I will give all of my business to Dollar General. Someone seriously needs to look at this store and it's manager. He needs to find a different job instead of costing your company money and repeated business.

I have been with this company for almost 9yrs. Each month it gets WORST with more things that have to done. Corp office doesnt care about the employees and NEVER will. When people ask me about the company I tell them the truth. DONT work here. Corp office allows DMs to skim stores payroll. When ever Keisha want to she makes everyone cut $50 dollars from your payroll. So she can BONUS MORE!! I work alone in my store about 31 hrs by myself a week. My asst mgr work by thereself 21 hrs. 52hrs by ourself. I have cashiers that might be able come in a few hrs in the evening for closing. I know people are thinking "if your that unhappy find a different job" BELIEVE me I have been. I even have a degree, its just hard right now. I get sick to my stomach eveyday I work. Somedays I want to cry because all I do is work and you dont have NOTHING to look forward too. This company is NOT about family. I should be able to have coverage when needed and I should be able to work my hrs and go. Corp makes that impossible!!! I only look for it to get WORSE.. I cant wait till more lawsuit start coming at FD because I am going to laugh. You should have learned from the first time you lost.... BELIEVE me they will still stacking against FD. The maybe be able to get things dismissed but it will catch up and when it does FD will GO DOWN BIG!!!! Corp ahould change the LOGO to Family Slaves.. Thats what we are to you..

I am a very FREQUENT customer at Family Dollar and have been for the past 8 years straight. I'm usually very pleased when I walk into your establishment, however not so much today. Store #05211 1312 E. 79TH Street has put a very bad taste in my mouth this evening. I'm a new resident in that particular area but was very pleased to learn of a close Family Dollar location. However, as I walk into the store I was not greeted (as I usually am by other stores), it shocked me but not to offense. Oh, but towards the end of my shopping trip that changed. The manager at this particular location was HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. She referred to one of her employees as "homeboy" and told him to get on the register, I believed because the line was increasing with customers. Instead she proceeded to get off the registers and have a conversation with one of her "girlfriends" (non-customer nor employee) about getting her hair done and some particular event they wanted to attend. Thus, leaving the young man (named Jason) at the register conducting transactions alone. Remember there is a long line in the store at this particular moment... Then I heard a few customers complaining about the store even more saying that this store is ALWAYS rude and uninviting. Now, as stated before I've been going to FD for many years now and I KNOW this is not how you conduct business nor is this apart of your mission statement. I hope by writing this concern to you that the problem will be corrected and the store will have a wonderful turnaround. I believe in this company and enjoy being a loyal customer, I don't want to lose faith in you guys. Sincerely, LOYALLY HOPEFUL

I just have to tell Corp.....Our district Manager....Jim Cain quit the company last month....his stores nor managers will never be the same.....and I am not speaking of the ones we do not need representing our company, but of the ones that have fought hard to keep us way above the "Dollar Store image" I personally have the upmost respect and love for this man.....he took me from a low volume store to a two million dollar store and made me one of your best managers in the Pittsburgh aarea through his knowledge, compassion and leadership. Coming from the major cities of business from the East Coast to the West Coast......we have lost a valuable leader that could have cleaned up Pittsburgh properly....as he HAD the best stores.....

i have a complaint for Family Dollar #3196 in Zwolle, La. i was hired in family dollar store in september it was my first time ever working retail. i learned every quick even though i was basically teaching myself we didnt have a manager at the time one was hired two days after i started so she was being traied also. My aunt is a manager at a Family Dollar store and she was kinda having to manage both stores with he being assisted by the district manager ms. maggie. In feb. i was fired because of lack of work which is wrong because any worker can verify that i worked very hard and i worked any days others didnt work and i also worked at another location when was available. Family Dollar store became big on coupons which me or the manager ddnt really know much about them so we was kinda learning together. At this location before couponing if i needed assistance in the front on the registers depending on whose working with you it takes a while for them to assist you so i don't like my customers being impatient or having to be in line a long time because another worker dont care as much. so i started tryong to be a fast worker to satisfy our customers. which was hard because i wasnt a key holder and i needed others to get me change or other money when needed. So one day it was extreme couponin goin on on both registers and we had a store full of customers in line so i was moving so fast i gave back too much change. my manager looked over and over on the camera and she can see i didnt take anything whch makes it a honest mistake. i loved my job with all my heart i would have let family dollar have my whole check before i lost my job because i was trying to be one of the best workers. i wanted to be the one not only oter workers but also that the customers bragged about. when my manager told me she was firing me i didnt kno how to feel it was the worse hurt ever. she didnt try to stand up and explain how the register would have been short and what could have been other optons. i swear to God i wouldnt have ever did anything to jeopardize my job. anoher issue is that the manager at Zwolle store don't like my aunt which is the manager at Many store because if something went wrong at the store i would sk my aunt is that the correct way this should have been done or need to be and she would tell if it was or wasnt. one day my manager had to call me in on my off day because she couldnt reach anyone else she told me i can work until another worker came in. so i did but when the other worker came in the manager left she said her baby needed milk. which i requested that day off to take care of business but she didnt care cause her baby need milk. she was gone for two hours and didnt clock out. when i told her i was goin to mention that to the district manager she went into the computer and changed it which i have witnesses. She also denied a girl that was up next for hire because me and the girl knew one another and turned around ansd hired her best friend. you can just go to the store you will see all im saying is right. I don't think i should have been fired and she felt i needed to be fired but she fired me for lack of work and i know somrthing can be done about that cause anyone would verify my hard work i put into family dollar. i even worked harder cause there's one employee that was hired for only cashier work because she can't bend down or do too much other work which really kept the store behind. i know this is wrongful termination.

The store manager for Hale Michigan's Family dollar is VERY rude. She spies on her employees, makes them work like slaves (14-16 hr days) Tells them that their family members CANNOT come to the store, because they are a distraction. If she doesn't get her way, she takes it out on the employees. Her name is Jan. She is HORRIBLE. Rude to every customer like they are a nuisance to her for just coming in. The store is shabbily ran, worse yet, she, the store manager, looks like trash. This is one of the WORST family dollar stores I have ever been to, because of this woman. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. The only employee there that is worth anything is the male employee who works there. If something isn't done about this woman, MANY more complaints will be issued. -Fed up customer

Dollar General in Geraldine Alabama. store number 8742 1. The employees take up almost all of the parking spaces in front of the store. I have seen elderly and disabled shoppers walking across the paarking lot with canes, walkers and in wheel chairs. Because the parking spaces in front of the store are taken up by the employees cars. You may ask how I know these cars belong to the employees? Because they sit in side them or stand by them smoking. 2. Smoking in front of the stores can't walk by without smelling nasty cigarette smoke that lingers even when they are not smoking in front of the store. 3. One employee never ever puts up the shopping baskets..she has the nerve to ask us as a shopper to "quote" put this shopping basket back over there no please or thank you. Makes me so mad I am going to someday say N0.. thats your job lazy. I did see one shopper tell her no that he would not put it back and ask what was she going to do just stand there! She always..always seems to have an attitude and seems so unfriendly and unapproachable.

I have shopped this new Gulfport, Fl Store #08269 many times since it's opening. This store has quickly become a place I would go only if I'm in a hurry it's 3 blocks away. Today that has changed, I won't return to this store for any reason! I am tired of being treated like a bother to mainly the black employees here in particular Kina. She bagged my dog treats, Air Freshner, & breakfast cereal in the same bag I asked if she could separate the air freshner, not only did I get a dirty look & attitude, but when I say Thank you have a good wkend.....I get nothing! I am soooo sick of this attitude at your store you really need to screen & find out if the employees are racist. There is a complete difference between how whites are treated and blacks are welcomed, & this is NOT an isolated or having a bad day reaction. This store will fail just as the Winn Dixie did next door. Thank goodness the Sav a lot that open in it's place recognized it...they'll have a chance of staying open.

I have a complaint against Family Dollar Store #2648 in El Paso, Tx. I went shopping there on March 10, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. I had quite a few items that were on sale in my shopping cart. The manager, "Joe", was quite rude. While I was standing in a line that was more than 10 people deep he was too busy looking on the computer to help the clerk by opening another register. Another customer asked him to please open another register. He commented that he didn't have to. I stated that he was too lazy. Once I did get to the counter to put my multiple items up on the counter, I let the clerk know what items were on sale and what the sale price was by showing him the ad that was sent to my house. When I stated that the ad was sent to my house, "Joe" stated that he didn't always honor ads that are sent to people's homes. I told him he would this time. He gave me a very rude look and told the clerk to override what he "could" in a very rude manner. I wasn't able to see the prices when he was ringing everything up even though I told him the sale prices on everything that was on sale. After, I paid & received my receipt I noticed that I was overcharged for almost half of the items I purchased. I told the clerk that & stated I wanted the money I was overcharged. The manager, "Joe", told me I had to go to the end of the line (instead of opening up another line right then and there and taking care of me). I went to the end of the line which was about 10 people deep again. I waited my turn again. Another customer complained and asked the manager to open another line. I stated, "I was in line before to purchase these items I was overcharged on. I should be the first in line if you open another line so I can get my money back I was overcharged." Joe stated, "I'm opening another line and I'm not helping you while he was pointing at me." Not only was I overcharged while I was telling the clerk the right prices (pointing them out in the ad) my first time in line. I was made to wait in line again to get my money back. The manager of this store is an extremely arrogant and lazy person. He was very rude to me when he was talking to me and about me to other customers. He was extremely unprofessional. I have a customer complaint regarding store #8160 that's on 14254 E. Colonial Orlando Fl 32826, there phone number is 407-281-9851. The cashier names JJ that's what he said his name is. I wanted to start by saying never in my life have I experience such unprofessionalism for any store (not even a Mom and Pop grocery store)I will explain what happened. On 03-11-12 I went to this store and when I went to cash out my items totaling $89.12. The manager had him get to the cash line and assist his fellow co worker because the line was getting larger. When the manager stated to him to get on the teller line he started to curse his other coworker saying he was going to send him home for the day. He started using profane language and the manger said to him stop talking like that, the manager his self was very unprofessional also stating that they fight all the time like if they are brothers, that is not an action of a manger, I feel that he is not performing or has the authority of a manger, the two workers just ignored him and proceeded back and forth arguing. The manager started to leave and said to them yaw stop unless you want to be like them homeless people. There were several parents with small children including myself I had my 5 year old daughter with me listening to them argue back and forth even using fowl language. I am extremely upset and will never go into that store again because of this and I will let everyone at my job and at my homeowners meeting about the ill treatment I received at your store. Then after I started to walk out noticed that my daughter put something in the cart that I didn't want so I went back to the cashier and said I have to return this item, he looked at me like I was crazy this is all the same guy named JJ. So when he gave me the receipt to sign that I was returning the item, I scribbled my name and address, because of their unprofessionalism I didn't feel safe to put my personal information on the receipt, he stated to me "REALLY" in a very sarcastic way. Then at this time there was people waiting in the line behind me, I stated to him I will not put my information on their due to how you guys are running this store, and he stated to me you know what never mind just go get out the store. I asked him what is your name and he stated JJ, I said I am going to let your corporate office know and he said he didn't care. I left the store and as I was walking to my car the customer behind me stopped me to tell me that was not called for he didn't have to treat you that way and we exchanged information she said she was going to call corporate also as she said she has had several issues with this store and employees in the past. This has also been an embarrassment and my daughter asked me why did that guy throw you out the store and he was swearing. This is unacceptable and I want some type of reprimanding done. I work at a local Credit Union and I am a manager and work in Customer Service and this is unacceptable behavior on the cashiers part his coworker and the MANAGER of the store.

Yes, i love family dollar stores, but the store #5900 in summerton SC have 2 good employees that i go to all the time. Why i say this is because the manager there is rude to her employees and not only that she tell their business. I know thats not cool but she does that all the time. Lol its alot of dirty things that are going on in that store like the manager been stealing from there since 2007 ooooops! And have been rigging up their inventory for the last 4 years so that she could win best inventory.Hey thats something people should know including corporate because that is not wright.WoW! and her first assistant is apart of the whole thing , she know all about it. Them two have been covering things up for awhile and its time to set the record straight.

I am an assistant manager currently between stores. By this I mean, the district manager for the region I have moved into assured me of a transfer to a local store. Upon moving here, the store manager had never heard of me, and the district manager claims of talking to me a month before he had, and that no one ever contacted him back. This is a falsity as my store manager had called and left my recommendation. On top of this, the store manager I was supposed to be transferring to has started ignoring me and not returning my phone calls. The regional office has directed me to be in contact with the district manager that has already screwed me over once. I was depending on the company for a job to ensure my move went smoothly and I was able to support my family. In turn, i have been given the run around and still am without a store and job. I'm currently in the process of looking for contacts higher in the chain than the regional vice president and am prepared to talk to a lawyer if this issue is not resolved.

I am making a complaint on store #4064 in Shreveport, La. on Lakeshore Dr. I went into the store 03/07/12 sometime before 6:00 pm just got off work. I walk into the store and purchased a 2 Liter Sprite Zero. I came in and out less than 5 minutes. As I was walking home a police officer pull up in front me ask me to turn around and put my hands up on the hood of the car. I asked him what did I wrong. He told me that a employee said that I have been calling up there on the phone harassing them in which I told the officer that is a lie and I haven't called anyone up there. I also told the officer I have know of whom the employee and why they are lying on me. I have never bother anyone. So the officer says that manager said for me not to come there and shop anymore. I told the officer that is on fair to me because I never did anything wrong of what I have been accused of. I also told him that I have been g to that Family Dollar Store every since I have been a small child. I live in the neighborhood of that family dollars and I don't have a vehicle so walks to that Family Dollar Store for all of my house hold needs. Tonight I am so very upset and I feel so harassed. I need to talk to someone about this incident and to have it cleared. Thanks.

To the post prior to this on Crafton store robbery......What your not aware of is those employees opened the bottom safe while the store was open, and use to yell from the back of the store to the front that it was a half an hour before closing, "open the bottom safe"...Really? I have been with Family Dollar for seven years....I was robbed at gun point when I first started as an assistant manager, the DM came right in and asked "are you okay Joyce?" Its not that they dont care......that store asked for the ending result.....they DID NOT follow policy and opened the door to the crime!
