family dollar is about my favorite store but i would like to see changes in when you check out, its so crowded on the counters and cant keep track what was priced and what wasnt, thats the only gripe i have with the store here in whitehall mi, i love the stores and so happy that one is close to me, but it would be nice to see some change when we check out, thank you
Good Evening just visited your family dollar store located at 2845 N Central Ave in chicago, il #08348. To start I enjoy shopping at family dollar but for some reason about 2weeks ago, I went to this family dollar to make an exchange but I wasn't able to complete my transaction because your credit card machine was broken. Well law and behold today 2weeks later I made a purchase for over $25.00 and couldn't use credit. I had to use debit because according to the acting manager/cashier informed me that any purchase over $25.00 couldn't be verified due to the signature screen wasn't working and that he called and placed a service call but no one has shown up to fix the problem. I never heard such an observe reason, are you kiding me. So now I will be charged a service charge on my bank account becuase the machine at your store hasn't been serviced. If family dollar really cares about their customers you would think that this matter would off been taken care of, and that's if and only if a service call was placed. Also the store lately seems to be dirty, someone drank a caprice sun juice and just threw the empty container on the floor. When a white lady that was the manager at this store she always kept it clean, stocked and organized. When this store was first opened it was a pleasure to visit now I feel like we are going in to a ghetto store, what is up with this picture. I don't know if the white lady sorry don't know her name is no longer working there but if she isn't you can really tell. SO HOPEFULLY NOW YOU WILL SEND SOMEONE TO SERVICE YOUR CREDIT CARD MACHINES AND MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR STORE MANAGER, IF NOT I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO NO LONGER SHOP AT THIS LOCATION PERIOD. THANKS!!!
I was not given the right amount of money I was supposed to get .was supposed to have gotten 50.00.Got 30.00.missed 20.00.Store I went to in Long Beach,Miss.will not give me the money. It is owed to me .
I have had many opportunities in shopping at family dollar in Glendale Heights Il. They are ignorant, Unprofessional, complaining of their hours being cut, and the customer benifitting much more than the Employee, Did you think If you improved Your attitudes and realized that the consumer pays your paycheck. Also without us eventually you close down as the Old family dollar that tried in Glendale Heights on Armytrail Rd. Shut down in less than 2 years due to unprofessional attitudes. Positions of manmagement should be given to older mature individuals and proper training If you go to the one in glendale Heights on north avenue, you will be appaulled and flabberghasted of the District Manager in the same age range as them conveying ignorance as well, it is sad My son is 33 years old and My daughter 27 years old, were raised properly to understand the consumer comes first. Not having a grudge due to lack of up bringing by parents...IT SHOWS FAMILY DOLLAR EMPLOYEES!
I put in my application at Family Dollar on W.Michigan Ave then called to check on my app. and they manager said im not hiring and hung up. very rude and will be complaining soon.
I am an Asst Manager at a Family Dollar in Georgia. I am so glad that stumbled across this comment page. I have read so many comments that are exactly the same issues I face every day. Employment with Family Dollar is a very poor choice for anyone with self respect. Family Dollar Corp cares nothing about us plebes who work slave labor for very low pay. They sit in their nice padded chairs in a nice office and think of ways to make their employees job and life more difficult. An assistant manager has just as many responsibilities as the store manager but gets paid much less! Imagine my surprise when I found out that a new cashier was recently hired and given a pay rate of $7.75 which is only $.25 less than what I make as an assistant. As of Monday July 23 she is starting training to become an Assistant which means she will getting a $.50 pay raise which will put her making $.25 more than me. If you do the math that means I am only getting paid $8 an hour. I have been with my store for almost a year and things have only gotten worse. I started out as a cashier in Sept 2011 making $7.50 and hour. I was asked to be promoted to Assistant in December 2011. I was told that my pay would raise to $8.50 an hour but it still hasn't happend. It is also true that Family Dollar spends alot of time and money on internal theft yet when they have evidence that a manager is sliding money they just let him continue to do what he does and sweeps it under the table. If any of you out there are contemplating employment with Family Dollar I highly suggest you run not walk away from the kiosk or laptop you are on and seek employment where you will be treated like a human being.
I am a regular customer at Family Dollar in Elberton, GA. I have been a longtime customer there. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to make a negative comment about my experience there. The store is consistently out of something that I need and just looks very dirty and dingy. The main thing I have noticed though is that it seems the store manager is not a very nice person. It seems to inconvenience him when a customer asks him for help. He makes a noise with his breath like he is exasperated and rolls his eyes. Also, I have noticed that he is very rude and talks down to his employees often. I have witnessed on more than one occasion when he was at a register up front and his cashier had a line backed up and he would still direct customers to the cashier that already had a huge line. There was only the two of them working and two registers who else was going to help? I was shopping a few weeks back on a Wed and there was several employees putting out stock. The manager Nate, I now know his name because I have started taking notice was standing beside of a female employee that was working hard putting out stock and he was talking about how endowed one of his sexual partners was. She looked to me like she was irritated probably due to the fact that he is just standing there jabbering away about things she would rather not hear while she is working hard. Call me crazy but wouldn't that fall into the category of sexual harrasment? When a customer walks into the door the tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife. It is so obvious that this manager makes his employees miserable and it is a very stressful environment to be in whether you are a customer or employee. I hope that this comment lights a fire under someone at the Corporate Office and this situation is rectified. I feel sorry for anyone that works under the supervision of this man.
Have applied for a job with Family Dollar Stores for a year and a half now. Asked one of the employees, what is the secret to obtaining a job with them. Was told, "You need to know somebody." Yesterday went to a Family Dollar Store which just opened two weeks ago. The cashier didn't know how to give change when I handed her some dollars and a quarter for the 17cents over an even dollar I owed. After reading all the previous complaints I see here, I really don't believe I would want to work for them after all. And today I went way out of my way to make a purchase I could have made at that Family Dollar Store only blocks away from my location. Family Dollar Store, you have entirely lost my business. I will boycott you at all costs from now on. GET A GRIP ON REALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am rating 3 stars based on the fact that i have went to my family dollar store which I love and shop at all of the time and the manager is great but I have been told time after time after time when it is right in your coupon policy that they will not adjust my coupons down to the price of the item when the coupon value exceeds the price. I am very disappointed and pointed this out to the worker which is i think assistant manager and she said they cannot do that. I understand not doing cash back and all but when I asked about it it shows that there is little if no training and I'm tired of having to price match at walmart (which is right next door) because your employees don't know the policy. I think if they don't know their own policies they shouldn't be a manager. I do however love the other employees at my local store and they are always very nice and pleasant. I kind of feel like with as much shopping as i do there i've been getting jipped the entire time because this one person refuses to listen or to do this one thing. I have also been told that if my coupon is smudged at all she won't take it even if it scans.... Unfortunately the one person that is like this reflects on the entire store.
I went to family dollar yesterday and my friend was looking at s lawn chair when everything on the rack almost fell on him. The lady at the cash register tells him what r u going to pick that up, because if your not that rude. He tells he it almost fell on me and no you guy need to pick it up and fix it so it don't heart anyone else. So she gets mad and tells us both not to come back to the store again and starts talking back to us. So were trying to talk to he and she keeps telling us to shut up and get out. Wow we walk in to get shit from someone for no reason . Very rude , should of went somewhere else .
Could someone from Dollar General human resources consider me for employment sometime soon. Yes, applied on line twice in the last few weeks and heard nothing.(Interview would be really nice) I'm a dedicated,friendly hard worker seeking a new career. After reading all these gripes from their employees~ sounds like that could use someone like me. Clean background and not a wackjob person per say..LOL. I returned to the Family Dollar Store that I shop at regularly. I had my receipt and also took the employee to the shelves that had the prices mark on them. After seeing that the prices were lower than I had been charged the employee fumbled around in their pockets and pulled out some currency and stuck the money and my receipt in my hand and told me just to take the cash. even though it was more than what I should have received. I understand I should have been happy with the extra money how ever having worked in the retail industries for most of my lise I know that this returned was not handled correctly and still wonder what the employee was trying to hide rather than making a adjustment at the register.
This is a letter of recommendation for a Ms. Tamika Lewis at the Family Dollar Store #1555 at Summer and Highland Sts. in Memphis, Tn. I shop there regularly since I enjoy the low prices and don't have to wait it long lines. Ms Lewis is always busy making sure the store is neat and clean and the shelves are straight and always asks if you need any help. On the evening of July 3rd I had to rush to the store for items for a friend's dog, right before closing. There was a rush to the counter and the computer was having a problem and she was apparently training someone but Ms Lewis handled all of us like a PRO and very professionally I would like to add. She was amazing! WOW! Talk about service with a smile!
What happen to the Family Dollar Store at West Town Square, Use to be a deceint place to shop. It is now 1 of the dirtiest stores I've been in. No one cleans the floors anymore. You all could probably not give a S--t, but No thanks I'll do my shopping somewhere else.
Family Dollar is one of my favorite stores, but I’m disappointed. I went to Family Dollar#05434, 4023 Behrman Pl, New Orleans, LA...504-364-1034, and encounter a situation that hurt me. I only had $20 on me (my last) and purchased Sun Vanilla Lavender soap powder, and treated myself to a box of Snickers bar ice cream, totaling 7.44. The cashier gave me 2.56. I did not leave the register and told her I gave her a $20, after she started ringing up the next customer. She called for the Manager. The manager ran the register tape, and called someone to verify if she was doing it correctly. She had to do it a different way. While the manager waited on other customers at the other register, she had the original cashier count the money. The cashier counted $27X.XX, she counted again..$27X.XX. The cashier asked the manager how much she suppose to have, the manager replied $28X.XX. The cashier counted the 3rd time, and said oh, I'm .08 over. Her register should have been $10 over because I knew what I had. Before I left, I asked for a higher manager's number, the manager circled store's number on the receipt and ask to call tomorrow and ask for Angie between the hours of 7-6. I asked for corporate number. She said to call Angie tomorrow and Angie will give it to me. I left. When I got home I called the store and the cashier gave the manager the phone. She reply (Byrd). I told her that I'm not angry, but disappointed and I did not get her name she gave me "The first name is Heather, the second name is Laura. I had to ask, which name is the manager. Previously, I’ve been a cashier supervisor, before becoming a service representative / assistant supervisor, team lead for AT&T. I’m aware of good customer service. I know that comparing the register tape and what the cashier claim to have counted would have shown she would have been short, but she should have been over. Good customer service....The manager should have counted the money herself, known corporate number, and should have said (I'm Laura XXXX, the manager, and the cashier is Heather XXXX). Neither one of them had a name tag on. Another complaint….The store’s closing hour is 10:00pm. If you go there at 9:45pm, the doors are locked.

i was walking to the trash bag asile and they did not have any cones around when i went to turn i slipped and fell. I think that the people that they have putting up their stock need to pay more attion to what they are doing and to what is on the floor
When i fell the other day in the family dollar the store supervisor would not even get off the register to come and check it out where i fell was not even conserned if i was ok and i am 6 months pregante
Just left Family Dollar unhappy!!! location: brown deer rd. milwaukee, wi... Cashier was nice and all but manager was a total pain in the butt!!! Cashier couldn't get my coupons to scan so he had the manager do it.. She read the coupons out loud like I was STUPID saying Im only able to use 1 per purchase.. I told her that I know that but the coupon also states that I can use 4 like coupon on one purchase... She looked at me and said "you can go use your coupon at a different store" to myself... I was thinking... How RUDE!!! I asked for her name which is MEGAN... and left the store.. She said as I was leaving.. "i will call corp for you" urghh!! I'm so annoyed by poor customer service.. If you dont like customers.. Get LOST!!!
Have you seen the block job on the front of the NEW Family Dollar store on 10th St in Mt Vernon, IL. It is a joke....maybe someone could spray paint the multicolored misplaced blocks to be all one color..The project manager should do this job.
