On 09-20-12, I was parked in the parking lot after hours with some friends, when the manager came out to leave for the night and said something to us, which we didn't understand her, so we said bye. With in minutes the police came and asked us to leave in couple of minutes since she called the sheriff office, as he pulled away, the manager came back with a attitude telling us to leave. I told her that her that the officer gave us a couple of more minutes since we where not doing nothing wrong other than talking. She continued to talk trash to us and we told her we where leaving even thou it was not posted not to parking after hours. Thats the small town life in Floydada,Texas
Went to the family dollar store in idabel, ok today. Could hardly get in the store for junk strung everywhere The store was not just dirty but looked like it had not been cleaned in months. In the back of store it smelled like cat urine, boxes every where, could not go and look at anything because each place was blocked with boxes, was told a truck had run night before. This store used to be a great place to shop but now I will not go back, salavation army stores look like Macys Department stores compared to the look of this store. there were several clerks but they did not help you and you had to ring a bell if you wanted to check out. Its so sad because this community could really use a great dollar store. there were no choices except 1 star for poor but if there were i would rate this store as a minus with no stars
I have never in my life been treated so bad as I was last night at the Family Dollar store #05512 in Manchester, KY. I went in the store to purchase a box of light bulbs that cost $1.06 (tax included). I paid with a family dollar return card that had money on it. The cashier at the register rang me up while doing several other things at the same time. I swiped my card and it said approved but the register didn't print out receipts so she said it didn't take my card. I told her that it did. She yelled for the manager to come there and go back on the register and see if it took my purchase. She said it didn't so I said well lets go to the other register and ring it up again so I can get a receipt and see the balance to see if it took it the first time or not. I had just previously used my card and had the receipt from another purchase about an hour before this and it had my balance left on my card. Well, when I added it up I had been charged both times for the light bulbs. I told the cashier that rang me up first that I had been charged twice and she yelled for the manager (KIM) to come back. I told her that I had been charged twice and she said "no you wasn't, I just looked on the register and your purchase was not on there." I said I have been charged twice I have a receipt here showing my balance before I purchased the light bulbs the first time and as you can see instead of $1.06 coming off the last balance instead it was $2.12. She smarted off and told me I was never to come in that store again or I would be arrested and ran her mouth telling me I was wrong. She finally gave my $1.06 back after she realized she had overcharged me. All the time though there were customers watching and listening to the whole thing. I was humiliated all because she wanted to be rude and not do her job. This all happened right around closing time on 9/20/12. I left and got in my car and dropped a friend off that lives right behind the store. As I was leaving she pulled out right in front of me cutting me off. I just drove slowly and headed home. Then this morning, I get a call from my friend that was with me and said that she told him that she got a warrant against me for following her home that night. I just let it go and didn't do anything about it or even say anything. I just got the phone number to the corporate office and called them and told them what happened. Then it goes on and I went to pick up my friend this evening and she was standing out back of the store smoking with one of the other employees there and as I pulled in she threw up her arms and yelled for me to try and do something to her now. I never tried to do anything to her to begin with. She needs to be fired. I've never seen anyone that rude and insensitive. She shouldn't have a job anywhere treating customers like that. And, everyone that I told what had happened said that they had had a problem with her too. Said all she does is cause problems and tries to get people in trouble. She needs to be FIRED!!!!
I MADE A PURCHASE OF LUV PAMPERS WHICH WAS THE WRONG SIZE ON 9-13-12 AT FAMILY DOLLAR STORE #7379 DALLAS, TEXAS I MISPLACED MY STORE RECEIPT. I WENT INTO THE STORE SPOKE TO THE MANAGER ABOUT DOING A RETURN. THE MANAGER SPOKE TO ME AT FIRST REAL NICE. SO I WENT TOWARD THE REGISTER AND I STARTED LOOKING FOR THE PERSON THAT CHECK ME OUT, THINKING THAT THE MANAGER WOULD CHANGE HIS MIND IF HAD THE PERSON THAT CHECKED ME OUT WOULD VERIFY THAT I MADE THE PURCHASE. THE MANAGER STARTED YELLING AT ME TELLING ME THAT IT DID NOT MATTER WHO CHECK ME OUT. HE SPOKE TO ME RUDE, OUT LOUD WITH NO RESPECT IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS. I ONLY WANTED TO CHANGE FOR COUGH MEDICINE FOR EVEN COST. I DO HAVE MY BANK STATMENT WHERE I PURCHASE ITEMS. I ALSO CAN'T BELIVE THAT THIS IS THE TYPE OF SERVE YOU'LL OFFER. Store # 02591 7371 Theodre Dawes Rd My complaint is about the clerk who serviced me. Granted I was wrong to reach in the do not enter area and grab the dog food but I also said I was sorry not once or twice but three times. The clerk who checked me out preceeded to curse none stop throw the rest of my things around when she was ringing them up say she really didnt want to be there put my things in a bag still cursing at that then throw my stuff down being rude. All the while I believe the Manager or Ass. Manager is there letting her continue this behavior. Thats Not Custumer service. Her name is Brittany. Brittany hold your tongue next time please your not that great at your job and if you didnt want to be there why were you??
The new family dollar in Highland illinois has some of the rudest employees i have evr come across in this town. The employee there by the name of Larry, was really rude to my son on one particular day, i have already on several occasion had to bite my tongue with this asshole, so i on this particular day i was just not in the mood. He tells all the customers if they want to tip him for his college fund to go ahead, and he takes everyones change and pockets it as people leave, some of the elderly are even more so gullible and give him bills to pocket. but on this one particular day he said a few rude things to my son and me that was unacceptable, he was flirting with young teenage girls and saying inapropriate things to them as well. and when i called him out on it, he told me to fuck off, and told me and my son we were not allowed in the store anymore. which is fine with us, we plan on sharing our story about larry to every one we meet, and urging people to take there business elsewhere. maybe you should hire some people who actually know how to TALK to your paying customers in a friendly respectable manner and none of this would of happened. we have a dollar general here in town, a wal mart too and the people there are friendly and not obnoxious like this larry guy, we plan on not only taking our future dollars there, but urging all we talk to do also do the same. also one more thing you have a big fat guy who works there too, who is always screaming at his wife either right there in person, outside the door, scaring away customers, or yelling at her over the phone. We need to stop patronizing this company. Just because they are on every corner, doesen't mean we have to shop there. If we stop being so lazy and make the effort to spend our money where we're appreciated as customers and people. The reason the employees act the way they do is because they don't pay them. They pay as little as possible, work them like slaves and never say thank you. They could care less about these complaints. This compsny may as well be run by Mitt Romney
i work at a fmily dollar got fired for something i did not do let one nite and my assistant and two employes took some bleach home after left i was blamed then five minutes after i left they already replaces me with a new manager
The one nice woman that works at the Goldthwaite, Tx location had told me if my blinds do not fit to bring them back. Just that not anything else. Today I tried to take the blinds that were too small back and was treated very poorly. I was told that I could not return my blinds, because I did not have the box anymore. I had my recipt which had the SKU number on it. I had worked at such jobs, so I know that you can ring it up by that!! Also, all of the parts were there still. The rude cashier just made me loose $5, because she did not stand by what I was told. Ridiculous! I will no longer be shopping at a store that has such rude/terrible customer service! Sorry Family Dollar!
unfortunately I worked for the Corporate office and I can tell you that you are wasting your time. They truly could care less. You call in with the complaint it may get some notice it may not. Then you wont get a call back you must follow up. The only reason family dollar is still around is because they are cheap not because they are professional. The turn over in corporate in the last year has been rediculous along with their restructuring early 2011, the company is failing badly with the public. But I guess it dont matter as long as they are making money. And by the way you dont have to have any type education or training to be a FAMILY DOLLAR MANAGER, cant you tell

They sort of stand around chatting while the boxes are backed up out the door. I know the drivers have a schedule that they have to keep in order to get paid for all they do and when lazy people are working in these stores, well that hurts the drivers and their families. It is simple, do your job timely and get it done. Truck day is not a time to smoke, hang out and goof off....Think of it like this, the more time you take the long you are hauling boxed....pick up the pace!

Store No. 02794 in Munising Mi. has really taken a dive. I dont' know who the new manager is but instead of working , she's always outside smoking cigarettes. She says she doesn't get paid any more for working over 40 hrs then she does for 30hrs so she's going to take her sweet time... what ever she means by that. This has been going on for over a month now, the shelves are mostly empty, boxes all over the aisles, I've shopped this store since it opened, even worked there for a while and I've never seen it like this. I buy my bird seed there and most every time the bags have been cut open and there is seed all over the damn place. Consumers need consistancy, if I can't rely on my purchases being there anymore I'll just shop at Bobs IGA , they are about the same price as Family Dollar and a block away. Many times now I've tried to buy my detergents and paper products and their shelves are empty. One employee told me Corporate isn't sending them any items to sell because they all want vacations. But, I see the trucks there, I see into the back room where all the stuff is just sitting there, waiting to put out , I see the aisles full of boxes waiting to be opened and put up and I see the manager standing outside smoking her cigarettes. I don't have anything against smokers, hell I smoked for over 40 yrs. But she'll be out there when we arrive and still out there after we're done shopping ! She needs to put the store first and her habits second. I've never had a complaint about this place until now. I have no problem taking my buisness elsewhere.
1. If you have a major problem that needs attending to call the alert line and have your complaint recorded. This is done by an outside source. They will give you a reference number to follow up with. However do not be petty. 2. Do your job the way that corporate wants you to do it. By the book. The online learning will teach you everything you need to know. You cant be fired from FD for doing the right thing. 3. Be professional. Act as though you have some common sense. You are not just a company representative, you are representing yourself. Its a job. You have responsibilities. 4. Customers are #1. Treat your customers well no matter how they treat you. Most will treat you well. There are some that wont. Its ok. Kill them with kindness. 5. Yes FD is stressful. If its too much move on. Find something more your speed. Nobody will look down on you for it. If they do so what. Your moving on. Its not your problem anymore. 6. Better yourself. If a position becomes available go for it. At the least it will provide valuble experiance for a future job. Ive worked for family dollar for 2 yrs. I voiced my opinion if something wasnt right. I outlasted 3 store managers, was able to move up and better myself and use it to my advantage. You can too but you have to be professional and always make the customer the priority. They are the ones that make us.
My church members and I experienced the worst customer service ever at the Family Dollar in King NC. We saw the store manager complaing to a customer pushing her mother on a wheelchair that her mother should wait in the car because the wheelchair was to big and could break something and she would have to pay for it. I never in my life experienced such a heartless act. Each one of us left our carts and told her she should be ashamed of herself and that we will never be back. She opened the door and held it out for us to leave. I remember what she looks like and hope to see her again so I can tell her behind her glasses I am sure there is some good. But the whole situation made sick to my stomach. She should not be able to work at any job that requires dealing with customers or the public. My heart goes out for that poor child pushing her mother on the wheelchair. They left and told the manager they were filing suit. Hope they win.
I went to the Family Dollar store in Lebanon, New Hampshire on 9/14/12 around 2:15. The behavior of the store employees had been atrocious. As I went up and down the aisles filling my cart I was accosted by employees yelling to each other about taking naps or unloading trucks. One employee was at the front of the store, actually standing right next to me so I can experience the wonderful sound of her grating voice, and the other was at the back of the store. There is absolutely no need for that. But it gets better; these two crass individuals decide they will repeatedly use offensive language as they have their personal discussions for all to hear. Finally, one individual decides she will back stab another employee and discuss that employee's personal life managing to belittle her in the process. The gentleman leaned on the product and laughed at her banter. After I absolutely could not take this any longer I brought my cart up to these individual and said they were behaving poorly and that I was leaving due to their behavior. As I was walking towards the door I asked another employee whether she was the manager. She responded she was not and pointed to the man who was behaving in an unacceptable and socially inept way and said "He is." Family Dollar, if anything else these two individual need training on how to behave in public never mind how to be professional. Consumers, I hope you decide to use another store until the training has occurred!
