WORST STORE EVER!!!!! Do not attempt to purchase your items with a hundred dollar bill! They will not take your money. This store has the worst customer service i have ever experienced. Not only do the Managers dress and look like they just rolled out of bed. The workers appearance are suspect. (enough make-up and short shirts to show their cleavage) this is a store, not a night club! Very dissapointed!
I bought some seasonal items that I needed to return to the Irving, Texas store. I was told that they do not accept "seasonal" merchandise....and that it should have been returned the DAY before Christmas. NO WHERE on the receipt did it state that there was a time limit on my return. Today was the 2nd time for me to return the items...my husband took the items the first part of December and he was told that he had to exchange it for items in the store...which was fine...they could have offered him an in store credit...I wasn't with him at the time and he wanted me to take advantage of the money that was given back. I find that poor customer service and I failed to mention that the "manager" looked at me as if it was an inconvenience to explain this to me...guess I was cutting into her smoke break. Just about all the employees smoke right there by the front door!!!
I will not ever shop at the Dollar Store #1787 in Woodlawn, Ohio. I purchased several items on 12/12/2010. I returned several days later to return the items. The manager on duty explained that I could only exchange the items. I agreed and told her that I would come at a later date. The manager agreed and I left the store. I come back today (Decemeber 30,2010) and another manager is on duty. She explained to me that I can't exchange anything and that she refuses to honor what the previous manager told me. This is poor customer service and unprofessional behavior. I will keep spreading the word until I get a response from Dollar Tree, Inc. And, I called the corporate office number which is not in service. This is ridiculous that their number is out of service.
On December 10, 2010, at approximately 11:45 a.m. (during my 30 minute lunch break) I enter a very busy Dollar Tree Store in Folsom, CA (Store 1228). After waiting in line for about 10 minutes, I approached the Sales Clerk and presented a $50 bill to pay for my merchandise. The Sales Clerk summoned for a manager to verify that my currency was authentic. As the manager approaches the register, he glances in my direction and before the Sales Clerk could say something he snatches my money from her hand and walks away. I do not believe it to be no longer than 30 seconds before he returns and says to the Sales Clerk, not me the customer, tell “her” I cannot accept this and give it back to her. He then walks away with no explanation apology or anything. Mind you the store is crowded with holiday shoppers. I was absolutely stunned. I proceeded to explain to the Sales Clerk that I had left the bank prior to coming to the store and then I hear from a distance “we cannot accept your money”. It was the manager that had just humiliated me in front of a crowd of shoppers (as if I had not been humiliated enough then you yell it from afar). As I turn to leave, the Sales Clerk is apologizing profusely and the person next in line suggests I go back to the bank where I withdrew the money. I then hear someone say “that’s the first one I’ve seen this year”. Not sure what he meant, but I turn around and say to him “It is not counterfeit”. I then asked the nice and sympathetic Sales Clerk if she’d mind holding my items and that I’d be back after I returned from the bank. I could not arrive to my car soon enough before I began sobbing uncontrollably. I returned approx 15 minutes later and asked the Sales Clerk if she’d please call the manager for me. The manager promptly responds and I asked his name; he pulls on his badge as to say this is my name. I read the name “Gene” on the badge and ask for his last name he says it’s “Korte”. I then explained to him how I did not appreciate being humiliated and that I had gone back to the bank where I had originally withdrew the $50 and how they verified that it was indeed authentic and not counterfeit. He says to me that he did not have to accept my money and walked away. I asked the Sales Clerk if I could have my items so I could stand back in line to purchase them. The Sales Clerk says that she would ring me up right then. I asked the lady next in line if she’d mind; handed over a $20 bill (I made sure I got change at the bank). I thanked the kind Sales Clerk she again apologized and I left the store to never return again. I have to say that that was the absolute worst shopping experience EVER. I will never shop at that Dollar Tree location again. I have shared my experience with others and they too vow they will not shop at that location. The manager of the Folsom Dollar Tree, Gene Korte, was very discourteous, disrespectful and should not be in a profession where he deals with customers and definitely not at the management level.
When I went to return three electrical items that didn't work, I was told that I would have to make an exchange even though I had my receipt. The sign stating that they can only give an exchange is on the shelf at the register and not obvious prior to purchasing...it should be posted where it can be easily seen before getting to the register. So now I have to hold on to these items until I need something else! Not only that, but the last time I was in, I was charged for 3 items that I didn't buy and didn't realize it until I got home. When I approached the clerk, they said "well, it's been scanned." No positive results. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE LEAVING THE STORE!! BE SURE THE ELECTRICAL ITEM WORKS BEFORE PURCHASING IT.
I would love to see your dollar tree store go into the Eastland Shopping Center in Lex, Ky on winchester road. The Big Lots store just moved out and it would be so wonderful to have a dollar tree in that store it would do great business there I wish the headquarters would check into that vacancy.
I too was treated poorly by a manager at Dollar Tree. I was overcharged for some items by the cashier, who was apologetic. I was told I would have to talk to the manager. I had to ask, her name is April. I waited several minutes and was then told I could go outside and get her. I said I would wait. after several more minutes I asked what the manager looked like. I then her a "what do you need"? The manager? She was dressed in old jeans and a faded sweatshirt. NO name tag to say she was a manager. I explained my problem. She says, in a very loud voice,"we don't give refunds". I told her I understood that for items purchased. I did not purchase these items. She grabbed my receipt and told me to read the back. Again, I said this is not a return. It was teller error. She then proceeded to tell me it was my fault because I did not watch at the register (maybe it was because I was showing an older man where I found the dishes I was purchasing). I walked away back into the store aisles. This manager continued to scold her employee from two registers away. She was yelling, "you need to be more careful, you need to watch what you are doing. It's not all your fault though". I was very embarrassed by this manager. It will be a long time before I can enter this store again. I think Dollar Tree has to do a better job training it's managers in customer service and employee relations. Never should a manager yell or embarrass a customer. I hold stock in Family Dollar, guess I should probably keep it there.
