I am a current employee of Dollar Tree. First to address the refund policy. On the back of every receipt is the store policy. It states- "So that we may continue to provide you extreme value, we reserve the right to limit quantities, do not offer refunds, and consider all sales final. We will gladly exchange any unopened item with original receipt. Sorry no exchanges on seasonal merchandise." So if you opened it or don't have the receipt, you cannot bring it back. (some exceptions are made for defective merchandise, with the manager's discretion) As for stores being disorganized or filthy- Next time you go in look at the other customers and watch them. They take merchandise go to the next aisle, change their mind and throw it on another shelf or the floor. They open up packages of snacks, eat some and throw it back. They take food out of the freezers and throw it on a shelf. (Including the lovely mess ice cream makes.) Their kids pull out toys, play with them, and the parent tells them No you can't have it and they throw it on the floor. They let their kids run around free, knocking over anything in their path. We clean an aisle and can go back literally 15 minutes later and it's trashed again. There are balloons floating all over the store because kids grab them from the corral and drag them all over the store and let them fly up to the ceiling, while the parents are oblivious. Then we have the "line" shoppers. People who fill there carts full of merchandise, get on line, and then weed out what they don't want, or realize they have spent too much and just start throwing stuff onto the nearest end cap or into the impulse buy bins and shelves at the registers. This is not a once in a while occurrence, this is every single minute of every single day. There is no way to keep up with it. The cashiers (associates) are the ones who clean the store. We cannot ,ring and clean at the same time. We clean the store during hours if we are not busy (which is rare). The store is cleaned every night after we close. That means after the last customer we've practically had to drag up to the register because we can't get them to stop shopping even after several warnings. We are tired by then and want to cash out and go home. We are there after you are home in your bed, cleaning up your mess. If you go up to a register and start complaining there is no cashier standing there waiting for you, it because we are not allowed to just stand there. We have left to go clean up the stuff you and the other customers have thrown all over the store, the carts and baskets you don't return to where you found them, the merchandise you have given me you decided you didn't want after I started ringing you up, restocking all the bags we have used, or blowing up balloon orders for another customer. We work very hard at a very demanding job. I work harder at my part time minimum wage Dollar Tree job, then I do at my full-time (non min wage) job. I work 60+ hours 6 days a week to support my family. So next time you wonder why your cashier isn't all smiles and giggles, remember what you've read here and look at it from the other side of the register. Please also be aware that you actually have money with you (not in your car). That we DON'T take Mastercard as a Credit card only a debit card. We take cash, check, Visa, Discover, American Express and EBT. Don't wasted my time ringing up your merchandise to find you can't pay for it or you have Maxed out your card. We don't take coupons from other dollar store chains or manufacturers coupons. Please don't interrupt me while I'm ringing up a customer to ask me a question. Be courteous and wait until I am finished. Do NOT treat me like I am some uneducated idiot because I work in retail, I see you and understand you. I probably have more education that you do. Do not insult my intelligence. I will help you if I can, but don't get rude with me. Sometimes people just cannot be helped. Happens more than you know.

Lakewood towne Center, lakewood,Wa (253)528-0169. The Manager there is extremely rude to her employees I have heard her cuss and belttle them in front of customers and other employees. I feel so bad for them , they look so unhappy. I will stop going there and tell my friends not to shop there. I will not support the way she treats her employees, I looked at her name tag and her name is Joann. All I can say, is Joann you should be ashamed of yourself.

I go to the Dollar Tree In Vinton, VA. I saw a young girl (later found out her name was Brittany) And I could tell she was in pain. I over heard her talking to a lady. I heard her say she had her wisdom teeth pulled and now had dry socket and its painful. I heard her say she had a girl that was working that wanted her hours but the manager said no. WHY? The young lady was in pain, her eyes were red from crying and I could tell her face was swollen. I have worked retail off and on since I was in my twentys. I actually worked an full time office job and part time retail. We did it when it was necessary and I can not figure out why the MANAGER I found out her name Susan was so nasty. Does your stores not care about their employees. If that is how you treat people I can take my business elsewhere. But if you dont care about your employees you probably dont care about your customers either. Shame, Somebody was willing to work for that poor girl and your Manager was just being plain nasty about it. I hope one day she is in a lot of pain and has to work and nobody to help her

I go to the Dollar Tree in Bullhead City AZ every week. It is always clean and the cashiers are always so pleasant. One of the cashiers Eva is always very pleasant and very good at her job. Thank you for the great service. Nancy Pascoe Bullhead City AZ

Policy is--will not refund for defective merchandise. will exchange for more of the same. If four battery operated lights won't work, what are the chances 4 more will? Crap attitude and crap merchandise. Last purchase there.

I recently went to $ tree and bought 15 items. The clerk rang up 16 and I thougt maybe I had miscounted. I looked at my ticket and she had charged for more items than I purchased. She charged for 3 toothpastes when I only had 2 and when I told her about it she said, well I didn't ring up your bandaides. I said yes you did, look at my ticket. She said, well I'll have to get the manager. The manager told me they couldn't refund my money and I would have to get another item. I told her no, that wasn't fair to me since I only purchased 15 and it was there error, not mine. She finally gave me my money for the extra item back and slammed it into my hand. Sorry customer service. I like $ tree but there is no excuse for the people working there to have such an attitude. Don't know if I'll go back or not. Probably won't in the town I live in.

I was in store# 1907,Watauga,Tx on 11/26/11 @,,19:02. I witness a three associates on duty. The first cashier was ridiculously busy while the two African American male/female just standing around talking, then the female associate ask the male associate to ring up her purchase,it was only than he decided to help out. Than a customer asks him was he open,he began complaining about her making him work hard. So the female log on her register to help. Then the male began criticizing a customer baby hair. How nappy it was and the female laugh and agreed.

I found a shopping cart in front of my driveway that some kids had left. I called the store in Center Point, AL and informed the manager about this and told him it would cause me a problem the next day. He laughed and said he was not about to leave his job and pick up a cart. He further stated that once they leave the parking area it is not his concern. I thought he was very rude and should have thanked me for reporting his stolen property. I did put the cart in my vehicle and returned it this morning. What is becoming of being courteous to others?

typical tennessee employer...kiss their butt and don't have to do much...not in the "click" look out you will be treated worse than a slave.... As for the merchandise sold there...Chinese junk.... What a store...didn't even have United States flags for people to buy on Veteran's Day..... owned by communists??

I have worked as a retail manager for 23 yrs. Prior to coming to Dollar Tree. I had 4 very Successful years as a manager in SC. My DM was the best I've had the pleasure to work With in my entire career. It all ended when I transferred to Texas. My DM was cruel, rude, verbally and emotionally abusive to all of the female managers as well as those with "alternate lifestyles". I was told on several occasions that I'd never "make it" because I was too nice. I couldn't believe my ears! My belief system, tells me to treat others As you'd like to be treated. It encourages kindness , gentleness, and respect for each other. The abuse and belittling grew worse and was even displayed at every managers Meeting. Finally one manager spoke up and told him how wrong he was, and he stopped.

I was in the dollar tree in omaha on maple st. i have a tiny little puppy that was able to fit in my bag. i brought him in since i just got him. he was secured in my bag and weighs less than 2 lbs. as i'm walking down one of the aisles, 2 store workers are putting out merchandise. i walk past them and i could hear them talking about me in a discourteous way because the dog was in the bag. i asked them what the problem was and told them i could hear them talking about me.one got really rude with me. i went up front and was able to talk to the 18 year old manager.she told me to call the main office.those people were rude. you don't talk about the customers while they're shopping in a negative tone. they were very unprofessional plus both of them could have used a bath, hair combed or at least cut. i'll never go there again.

You have a man working at the 657 store in Sevierville that shouldn't be allowed to work there I over herd a conversation that a cashier was telling a friend that the Guy she was seeing at the dollar tree was assaulted by him.and if this kind of stuff goes unnoticed at that facility I will not return to that store to do any kind of buisness what so ever I will tell my friends and they will tell there friends and i bet you before Christmas your sales will be down.i am a women and don't believe I'm a man putting his hands on a women so u can see why any women would be scared to shop at that store I think action should take place before he hurts possibly someone in your store. So what are you going to do about this cituation.he shouldn't be allowed to come back on that store ever again Not even to shop.sincerely a concerned shopper.

on oct 11 2011 at your at your store located at 1401 sam rittenberg in charleston,sc one of your employee's treated my wife and son very badly. She spoke to to my wife as if she was a child.I tryed contacting corporte and never heard from anyone. I called back and tryed to explain to your operator that i was to speak to a person and not a recording she hung up the telephone on me. looks like this company train's it's employee's to be rude to it's costomer's.I should that someone who care's about the dollar tree will contact me and do something about this employee.

The manager at store #3900 on 1510 West Broad Street in Richmond, Va was very nasty and disrespectful. She has no business working with the public if she cannot control how she talks to people. I ask to put back 1 item that i no longer wanted. She claim she could not do it, because I used an EBT card. I know it can be done because i have had other stores take off or put back items on my card. She did not specify as to whether or not it was all Dollar tree stores unable to do so. Or, if it was that she did not know how or wanted to do it. She just kept hollering that it "BECAUSE YOU USED A FOOD STAMP CARD" loud enough for the whole store to hear. That was very unprofessional and she was standing with her cigarette in one hand and her pack of cigarettes in the other. I told her I could not get the item because I was short. I told her that I would not be able to pay my bus fare if I did. She just shrugged her shoulders and said I had to pay for it. When i walked outside afterwards she was bitching to some man and she stop talking when she saw me coming out. No class whatsoever.

I bought a feather duster at the Dollar Tree store in Winnsboro, Louisiana. As soon as I tried to use it, all the feathers fell out of it all over the floor. I didn't think much about this, so I gathered up all the feathers an tried to "exchange, not refund it". The sales clerk told me "we cannot exchange the product without a receipt". I asked to speak to the manager. The clerk went to get her and she refused to come out and talk to me. Because of this incident I have chosen not to shop at dollar tree. That one dollar feather duster has cost them to lose a lot of business from me. As a teacher I use to buy a lot of school supplies from Dollar Tree but not anymore.

The Dollar Tree in the Timberwood shopping center, on the Outer Loop in Louisville, KY. the manager Sharon Walker is rude. I went in to take back some bad cans of air freshener, she told me that I could only exchange them, she directed me to go get some new ones. I tested some of the other cans, came back to the counter to complete the exchange. The manager was saying that nothing was wrong with the cans and she shouldn't let me exchange them. I explained to her that yes they are defective and there are some more on the shelf in the back of the store. She said see and sprayed a puff from one of the cans. I told her I want more that a puff, because I like to use it all around my house and the cans that I had spray a straight hard stream or it leak down the sides and product was on my ceiling, spots on my furniture and end tables. The manager then stated that I wouldn't want to come to your house. she shouldn't have made that comment. So I pointed at her and the items that I had and told her to just check me out, she reached out and hit my hand. I didn't strike back, I got my grandson went outside called the police. What gives her the right to put her hands on me. If it were the other way around, I can see it now, I would be in the back seat of the police car and my grandson at the Home of the Innocents. It seemed like old Jim Crow Days. A seen from Color Purple (Sophia). I told all my friends to spread the word not to shop at that Dollar Tree.

I have been employeed at dollar tree for a year now, and within this last year i have seen so many people promoted just because they are good butt kissers. I believe that my company is like a family that we should all work together but that is not the case everyone is back stabbing and the store manager and DM do not care care for there associates and the new corporate guidlines of giving the associates only 15 to 20 hours a week on top of being part time and min wage, seriously how are u to support a family and pay all ur bills when ur pay is only 300 every two weeks the answer is impossible u cant support them. Also associates are forced to leave because of age or because of what they do in there personnel time and they say it is the best for the company, or associates that are promoted just because they can kiss alot of butt not because they are good hard workers because they kiss butt its not right we are supposed to be a family....some family its like the family u never wanted to visit

I recently purchased a large amount of bamboo baskets from the Dollar Tree Direct website. My company was planning to use these baskets for a Holiday Campaign we do every year that includes making donations to charities in the communities we have locations in. We had planned on doing a Thanksgiving themed basket to “give thanks”. When I found the Oval Bamboo Baskets, SKU# 104339, I thought they would be perfect. I checked the dimensions which stated the basket was 13 & ½ X 9 & ¾ X 3”. I thought “great!” because the basket we had used to do a mockup was about 12” across. I called to place my order that came up to $268.48, was thrilled you had enough in stock, and when I gave them my credit card number they told me it was declined. After some thought we realized it had been declined because my shipping address and my billing address are different (what businesses isn’t?). We have our bills sent to a PO Box and the baskets were to be shipped to our physical address because I couldn’t have them shipped to a store. So they told me to go to a Dollar Tree store and purchase a gift card in the amount needed (I had to get three gift cards because I could only put $100.00 on one card at a time. That was a pain.). Once I got my gift cards, I came back to the office and placed my order. They were shipped in a timely manner, but I did notice that I was given a tracking number and web address that didn’t work. So yesterday I received the baskets and I was really excited (I know they are just baskets but this campaign is a big deal). I open one out of three boxes, take a basket out, and know immediately that they are too small. The first thing I did was try and make one of our baskets to see if it would work. It didn’t. I then got on the Dollar Tree Direct website to see if you had any other baskets I could exchange them for. You didn’t. The next step was to ask for them to be returned. When I called the customer service number, and all the other times I have called the customer service number, I never have to sit on hold. I get a Representative on the line almost immediately, and that is really nice. So I explain to her (and sorry, I did not catch any names) the situation and she told me they would return the baskets as a one-time courtesy. Great! That’s very much appreciated! But I would have to take all three of these large boxes to the store to be shipped back. Wait a minute, I couldn’t have them shipped to the store so I could use my credit card, so why do I have to haul them to the store to be returned? So I then asked her if the money would be refunded to my credit card. She told me no, that it had to be returned in the manner in which it was paid for and that was by Gift Card and they would mail me a new gift card with my return amount on it, except for the shipping charges. I then explained to her that not only did I not find anything on the website that I could use the Gift Card for, but that if I had not been told to use a Gift Card, I never would have. She then preceded to argue with me about whether or not they would have told me to use a Gift Card. Something to the effect of “We never would have told you to use a Gift Card.”. Well, you did and I paid for the Gift Cards with real money, so why can I not get real money back? So I then speak to a “supervisor” who told me the same thing except that the Gift Card they return the money on would have to be the exact ones I used when I placed my order. I told her I no longer had those cards and she then told me in that case, there would be no refund. I then ask to speak with someone else, she gave me the name of Tracy Ferguson, transferred me to her voicemail where I left a message and I have still yet to hear from anyone. I had felt from the beginning that I was getting the run around just to place this one order. I thought, how difficult can they make GIVING THEM money and BUYING THEIR merchandise? But I really wanted to purchase these baskets, so I did what they told me to do. Now we are not only out the $268.48 but we also have to look for another container to use for our campaign. I hate that I feel I have gotten poor customer service because I was looking forward to doing business with your company during our campaign every year and maybe even on a more regular basis.

today I shopped at Dollar tree stores inc. store 733 4072 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago, Illinois 733-736-3669. Line was very long it extended into the aisle. A female cashier was working and busting her butt to take care of the customers. A stopped when I heard the male employee tell her to go faster. He was on the phone. Then he was standing there doing nothing. He raised his voice several times and told her to work faster and told her that he had a load out in the back. The female was in tears as she told him you have a register and you are supposed to opened a register when there are 3 or more customers. I have nine customers and you dont even help. I went to the register where the male was hiding behind the register and asked him if he was open and then I told him that it was not nice or professional to be yelling out where customer had to hear what was going on. I gave my name and info as a witness and so did another customer. This store has several bad employees and very bad management. But who loses is the customers because they have to stand in line for a long time. This same thing happened a few months ago. I think that corporate needs to do something.
