i visited the dollar tree in LODI,CA 5/24/12 11:26 AM and when i was going to check out one clerk was very busy! so i went to the other clerk and 2 customers were ahead of me. the clerk told me she was closed, so i went to the other line and as i watched that clerk never closed the register. so i went over ond asked are u closed now? by that time three more customers were in line, so i go back to the other line. after a discussion with my witness the cashier came over and wanted me to walk back over there and i declined ! why u ask ? I AM A HEART PATIENT,WITH PACEMAKER & DEFIBULATOR. they had no carts avaliable so i had to use a hand basket. i was very tired and upset by now and just wanted to leave. oh! i asked for a phone number for the manager and was informed she was the manager and was told to go online for help. PS: I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HUMILIATED & DEPRESSED IN MY LIFE.
I have worked for Dollar Tree for 18 months. The pay is crap even though they expect you to kill yourself for them. The stock room is horrible and just an accident waiting to happen. My complaint among many, is the yearly raises that take 2 months to get after your anniversary date. Mine was due at the end of October and finely showed up on my paycheck in December. When I asked the DM about back pay to my anniversary date, he said the company does'nt do that. So does that mean that they can just give you your raise when they feel like getting around to it? I will be contacting the Wage and Labor Board to question them about this. I'd also like to know why we are not allowed to see our yearly evaluations. They could say anything and you have no way of knowing what they are saying about you. Pretty shady company, but all good things will eventually come to an end.
The Dollar Tree in the Ivy Ridge Shopping Center @ 7106 Ridge Ave in Philadelphia is horrible. 5 Days ago I went into the store & it smell as if there was some type of problem with their sewer. I go into the store today and it smells as if there is a mold, sewer, and dead body issue. Employees are leaving complaining of headaches and it appears as if the corporate office does not care. Dollar Tree will not see my dollars anymore. If they treat their employees like that, I have no interest in supporting their bottom line.
I was recently "Terminated" from dollar tree as a Freight Manager. I have read every one of the previous posts and having been in Management, I can attest to just about everthing said about how people are scheduled. I myself have called in associates with very little advance notice mainly because the person scheduled did not show up for their shift. Now let me give you some inside info: Dm's won't and "Can't" tell you "NOT" to hire, because of LAWS. Since Management are the only ones required to pass "Background" checks, they did not want us hiring EX-Cons. I happened to know one that was one of the best stockers our store ever had. I asked the store manager to hire him, she did and wasnotsorry for it. The DM found out about his past and made it quite clear,"He had to go!" They will tell you"Off Record," that "A single mother with infant children should never be hired, because they will invariably be absent a lot(Babysitters, medical, etc.) were We "Prejudicial"in our hiring? Yes! They violated the FMLA act when they terminated me and I have a lawsuit against them now. Our new DM, apparently "Fell asleep" on her job and screwed up in my termination. I had been there since 2005 as Freight Manager(thats when the store opened)No write-ups, no warnings and then (2)two of them ten minutes after I came back to work from breing ill(Hospital). Why? Because they replaced me, 5 days after I became sick andyou can't have TWO freight Managers at the same store. The Stories my seven years have seen?
This is in regards to Dollar Tree in Fresno, CA located on Ashlan Ave. It was my first long-term job, began great & gradually became a headache. The manager Angela was not supportive at all, she manipulated certain situations to try and create havoc for me thinking I would not stand my ground. She tried to make me sign papers stating things that were not true and when I told her NO I'm not going to sign documents stating false info she looked surprised and simply said Okay. I felt this would end up being an issue to continue working there so I requested a transfer & she told me if I stayed through holidays I would be granted my request. ..after holidays she denied me my transfer & things got complicated so I was forced to resign. NOW she says she doesn't "remember" my work there. & for some reason it was entered into the system that I just walked off the job, when in fact I put in a 2 week notice & also finished my days assigned. I called corporate to fix the issue & they said there was nothing they can do, Its already been entered. I wouldn't advise anyone to work for Dollar Tree. Pitiful, you would think they would want to value their employees. I guess dollar tree is just as worthy as their merchandise, 1 dollar.. Maybe less.
i work for the dollar tree in herkimer ny compared to all of these dollar trees my manager and assistant managers are really great people to work with they dont treat you like shit they respect you the hours could be better but thats life
i walk in the north park plaza store in holland michigan thursday morning and i heard one of the empoyees talking about me and i dont appeciate what he said. i heard him say to a woman there keep a eye on the guy that walked. i know he's up to something. i didnt catch his name but he heavey set with dark blonde hair and glasses. if he's accusing me of trying to shopleft or make any of the female workers there feel uncomferable there would of cauht me by now. its gonna be a wile until i go back in that store agian.
I worked for that shit company as well, first as a cashier and then being promoted to asst manager..... all these stories are like daily operations at dollar tree, thats for sure..... managers yelling at employees for no reason treating the customers like shit DM trying to treat me like i don't matter Store manager stealing money from the registers and blaming the associates/customers for not remembering their money (which blows me away, you mean they were never given the money is more like it) This company is terrible. I would never advise anyone work there. They def work you like a dog just to get what they can from you
Wow, I knew dollar tree was fxxxed up cause my wife works there for extra money, but I thI'll ought it was only bad at her store. I now see that dollar tree is fxxxed up nationwide. By the way, that extra money she makes in a 2 week period is the same that I usually make in a few hours of mechanical sidework. I honestly think she'd be better off working at a fast food restaurant, some of them even give free meals to employees during lunchbreaks, what do they give dollar tree employees during their lunchbreak? I'll tell you, they yell at employees for taking a break and the asst managers steal from registers and blame the loss on the employees
can you please explain the bag search requirements for an off duty employee, Im not employed there now but noticed that some of the store policies have changed like shopping on your own time requires a code 50 ??????? really since when do you need your bags and purse checked when your off the clock ? and its your scheduled day off and your shopping as a customer NOT COOL . From a Legal stand point im not sure its legal but you can count on me finding out thats for sure . And if its not legal then I suggest you tell your Clear Lake California Store to stop it looks terrible for people who shop there to think they have no trust in there employees
i am a mananger @one of the top stores in my district. we have held top gun 2yrs running:)a gaol my team&i have wored hard to achive. however there are issues in my store that seem to be non-important to upper managment.the sm over the store has made the envirment horrible, misrable, hostile,&uncomfertable.she will force employee's that she doesnt care for to quit by cutting thier already minimal hrs down to nothing...i my self have witnessed these actions on numorus occasions..be it an associate or an asst.manager..write ups are held over are heads everyday!!!!!..with the "DO IT OR ELSE" threat! i am wondering(as a mananger)is this the way we are supposed to be trained to run this buisnes?? i have associates come to me everyday with complaints..i encourage them to go to her..she is very un approachable & mean to them when they do as questions or exspress that a "certain" asst. manager is not following policies..she has recentlty recieved a complant on the careline.. & after that my career has been on the line..i have recieved 4 write ups in less then 12 days. after a requested meeting with our DM..to discuss them. she screamed & yelled @ me for over an hour. given the oppertunity to 'defend' myself 2 of the write ups were removed.
I work (for now) in one of the St. Louis locations. The store manager has turned the environment hostile & miserable. He regularly curses out employees, tries to force employees he doesn't like to quit by cutting thier already minimal hours, directing the assistant managers to yell at employees to make them 'tremble in fear'. His managment skills are HORRIBLE!!! I requested a meeting with the DM. HUGE mistake! The store manager LIED the ENTIRE time & the DM actually defended him & blamed ME for having a bad attitude & being disrespectf,ul. Yet I was the one who was cussed at, yelled at, and hours cut. I was also 'encouraged' to end my employment since I am so 'unhappy'. Dollar Tree is a great place to work if you don't have bills, no d,esire to do a good job, and no self respect! If you care about how you do your job, like to give/get respect, and work more than 9 hours DO NOT WORK AT DOLLAR TREE!!! They DO NOT care about the employees. It's FREEZING in the winter & SWELTERING in the summer (to the point of customers sweating after a few minutes!) and corporate does NOTHING! No I will not leave my name because there will be retaliation and sadly I have to pay my bills with this pathetic paycheck. It's a shame these complaints fall on deaf ears. It is painfully obvious that they value $1 more than common decency, human respect, and quality employees.
I was in store 2051 in Sanford, FL. One of the stoes signs fell on me, cut my shoulder and do you know these people have not even called me back. I really love the store itself but I detest how it is ran, how they treat the employees and customers. For a company to make money off of the consumer, you would think they would value their customers more. I will stick to the Dollar Store and Family Dollar. The Dollar Tree will never see another penny of my money. Besides their stuff breaks within a month. LOL!
I visited the Greensburg, In. store on March 15th, and they had torn down boxs and were going to through them away and I ask the girl that was working if I could have a couple of boxs and she told me NO! that they were throwing them in the dumpster and I would have to go out in their dumpster and dig them out. Is this one of your policys or just the store making their own rules? How demeaning is that for a customer to go out and dig in the dumpster????? Phyllis Houk 704 W. Main St. Greensburg, In. 47240
I went to the Dollar Tree in Stockbridge Ga. I needed a smiley face baloon, All they had blown up there was Happy Birthday.... Their was no one in site to help me of course, Their was no sign stating not to use the helium, Since I have worked in a florist for the last 20 years I knew how to blow up a baloon, this woman waits till i have blown it up and im headed to the check out, then she scolds me for blowing it up, when she or no one else would help me. I later learned from the cashier, that she was the manager, I have worked in retail all my life and this isnt the way to treat a customer...... Her name is KEISHA and the cashier said she was a mean manager to them all, I could or may never return to this store again because of her treatment.... She needs to be fired before she runs us all off................
Iwork for this company and they really dont pay anything and want you to work like crazy and the managers that they put are at some very dumbs and some try to take advantage of employees that dont know there rights. This is by far unappropiate and unprofessional. i urge some one to listen and start some kind of movement toward more rights and employee benefits etc,.
I used to work at dollar tree in livermore calif and i am having such a hard time getting my w2 toe my taxes,no one can help me,and when i go into the store they act like they dont even know what a w2 is?..The store manager didnt even want to help me..I worked there for about six months and i quit because they promise you a lot and give you nothing, the managers also dont treat the employees with respect.
I am astonished at how the manager at the Leesburg Dollar Tree Store conducts herself towards her employees. I was at one of the cash registers checking out when I over heard the red head manager say, "Don't put that in that basket that doesn't go there, I swear if you put things in the wrong basket again Imma put my foot up your a**!" I am appalled at the professionalism and language this particular store manager has and will not be going back again. I heard that the dollar tree store in Leesburg, VA is supposed to be family oriented. It was not what I was expecting to hear from a "professional" manager of 2 years in management. Poor: professionalism and indecent language in a family oriented store.
When I was hired, I was promised 15-20 hours a week by the store manager. I received 15 hours one week out of the three months that I worked there. For a while, I was getting 10 hours a week. Then for about a month and a half, I would be scheduled for two 5 hour shifts. However, I would be called by one of the managers and one of my shifts would be cancelled. But they would always call me at the last minute and want me to come in right away. If they wanted me to work they should have scheduled me to work... One of the assistant managers was horrible to me for no reason; I always worked hard and got everything done; all of my customers were always happy. She repeatedly made me cry but I just put up with it. One day, I was 45 minutes away for the weekend. The schedule didn't come out until Friday for the coming week starting on Sunday. I left town on Thursday and needed to know if I worked Sunday or if I could stay an extra day. I called the store and the assistant manager answered and refused to tell me whether or not I worked the next day over the phone, even after explaining that I was out of town and couldn't come to look at my schedule. I had tried to get my mother to look at my schedule for me but they refused to do that too. I never raised my voice or was rude, but she hung up on me after being extremely rude. I started crying and my husband got so mad he drove me down there (turned out I did work Sunday, the only day I was scheduled for that week). I begged him not to do anything and went out to the car. He stayed and yelled at her. She called me a few minutes later and told me not to bother to come in the next day (my ONLY hours that week). I told her I couldn't control what other people did and that it wasn't my fault (I really did try to keep him from doing anything, but I had to drive there to look at my schedule). She said the store manager would contact me on Tuesday to come in and talk to him. Tuesday came and went and no contact. I gave up and got another job. And now, I still have not received my W2!! I called the corporate office and they transferred me to a recording saying I have to go online and request a duplicate copy (not duplicate if I never received my original...) for $7. I only worked there for three months. I shouldn't have to pay for their mistake. ARGH.
I have been employed by Dollar Tree for several years as a cashier. I left for a year after the birth of my son, and then later returned. I'm shocked to see so many negative comments from both employees and customers. I have had nothing but good experiences working for our store in Erie, PA. Our associates are like family. We work together as a team in hope of pleading all of our customers. Yes, hours fluctuate. That is simply retail. Obviously, a store will be busier during the holidays and need more employees. Yes, occasionally cashiers will be asked to come in unexpectedly because the scheduled cashier will call off. But, this is retail. If I'm I'll and call off, someone had to cover my shift as well. Many times the store will be staffed with only a manager and a cashier. Please understand that it is because sales for previous week were low. Our work hours are effected entirely by our sales. We are working hard to get our customers in and out as quickly as possible. Customer service is our priority because our customers are our paycheck. Our manager is a wonderful person who cares for all of her employees. Our associates can talk openly with her at any time. We all share the same goal-- to make our store a place that customers love! Judging by the compliments that we receive from our customers, we are succeeding. Dollar Tree just celebrated 25 years of service, so they're doing something right.
