I worked at the dollar general store for about 7 6 days bringing in over 40 hours doing the remodeling in lebanon tn it has been over a month and i have still not recieved a pay check and all anyone can ever tell me is it willebe next friday it will be next friday so on and so on I very pissed about the way im being treated i worked my very hardest for this store every day eight hour days and they dont even have the common curtis to tell me the truth about my check

Tonight my wife and I stopped to do a little shopping at our local Dollar General store in Columbiana.As we started to shop, my wife was in need of using the restroom. The restroom was broke again as it was for the past month or so. Needless to say we had to leave in a hurry. This is so not right to not have these facilities in working order at all times. Sooner or later this is going to have a negative effect on buisness. We planned on getting a lot more than we did, but needless to say we only spent $6.00 instead of $26.00 or more. Just in case you wondered why we didn't use the other one, THEY WERE BOTH OUT OF ORDER AND BOTH FOR OVER A MONTH OR SO.This is so very uncalled for. My question is for the manager; How long do you really want a job?

STORE AT 2683 NE 35TH STREET, OCALA,FL HAS A COLD HEARTED JERK FOR A MANAGER, NAMED CATHY. ONE OF THE CUSTOMERS BEHIND ME ASK HER TO CALL THE POLICE AND SHE REFUSED AS SHE HAD TO CALL AN EMPLOYEE TO TELL HER WHEN TO COME TO WORK THE FOLLOWING DAY. THEY HAVE GOT THE LAST OF MY MONEY AT THIS STORE WHAT A COLD HEARTED PERSON TO BE A MANAGER OF SUCH A FINE STORE.

First of all I love to shop DG. I've have lived here all my life and it's time for change. The reason I am writing this is because we do not have much of a selection in a town of Charlotte,Texas which has a population of 2200 residents. We have two convience stores,a feed store, one grocery store and a hardware store that supplies much for the ranchers. The ranchers and the outside residents come into Charlotte to buy what its available to them or drive all the way to Jourdanton which is up to thirty miles for them. It never fails at times the local stores do not have what the students need for a projects. Everyone ends up driving eleven miles just to get map colors or a pr of black socks. A large oil boom has just started and a new oil company has moved in and they have been talking to the residents that great revenue is coming our way for the town of Charlotte for many years to come. I noticed your company built one in the middle of nowhere outside of Primrose, Texas. Your company would be perfect and exactly what we need. It has everything seasonal, clothing and the most basic things a household could use. Many residents here are on a fixed income and pay someone just to take them to the Dollar General in Jourdanton, Texas. There is much land for sell here because everyone is selling to businesses because of the oil boom. So please take time to look at this and come visit our city. my wife worked for dollar general 6 years as a store manager in the adairsville area. she worked hours on hours. spent more time there than at home. but did her district manager care. hell no he is a total ass. never had anything positive to say. no matter how her store looked it wasn't good enough.these guys need to stop riding around in company cars put down the pens and do alittle dam work in these stores then they will know what real work is. i myself think he's a dam drunk. he had been hunting a reason to fire her ever since he came in the district. and he finally did. here is the reason. the tolit got stopped up water running all in the floor cut off valve didn't work. water running all out in the stock room even under the walls to the outside of the building. remember my wife was called in by one of the key holders. she called to get the ok about a plumber they said they would call her back in about 30 mins to see if she could even call a plumber. rember the water is still running. i finally went out to the street to cut off at meter. water about one to two inches deep in the stock room.told my key holder to let the plumber in the back door if he asked instead of tracking water all through the store. he fired her for letting her key holder open the back door.this guy is a real coward.and he had her job already filled before he fired her.there's not a manager out there that hasn't give their keys to another employee to open the back door.i incourage everyone not to shop at these stores. they don't give a shit about their employees.all they see is dollar signs. so i know the adairsville store will lose a hell of alot of bussines.because im gonna do all i can to make sure and they lost one hell of a manager. screw dollar general and their district mamagers.

First, I would like to say I love shopping at the DG. I buy many items at the DG because I like the products and they are reasonably priced. On the other hand I was recently employed at one of the Dollar General Stores and had a very bad experience,and i'am no longer employed there. All the managers were very rude,impatient,and a negative reflection on the company.The managers did not want to train me at all, and if I asked them to show or help me they were very disrespectful. I'am a head strong person, but there was a time that the managers were being so rude that I held back tears while working at the register, after being yelled at for not knowing something.I didn't take that kind of ill mannered treatment long, I only worked there 2 weeks.Every time i go in DGs' i see managers treating the employees so rude.I know this kind of things happen everywhere but it shouldn't and i think companies need to stand up for their employees that don't have a voice.

Dear Mary Jane Weiser complaint posted 4-13-10, I am sorry about your experience at the D.G. and the shirt on the half off cart. What the cashier and or manager needed to explain to you was that once a product rings up for .01 (which they won't know until it is rung) this is a code for the cashier to pull the product as it is no longer sellabe due to several situations which are beyond the cashiers control. She should have explained this to you and possibly offered you another product that was simirlarly priced. I hope all your other experiences at Dollar General Stores are nice ones. Signed, concerned

I have always chosen to shop at Dollar General cause I love the prices and products they carry, but I will no longer shop there. A cashier working the night shift told my six yr. old daughter "your fat". My lil girl didnt let me know till later at home cause it had bothered her and she was crying so much when she told me. Really what kind of person can say that to a small child. So come Monday morning I arrived @ the store to speak to a manager since that night there was no manager on store site. Ugh she herself was no help and very rude. I live in San Diego, TX and its a really small town so I will make sure to spread the word that the newly built Dollar General has very rude workers and Manager and to shop @ the other dollar store in town where the sales associates are respectable and helpful.

I have been a steady customer of the recent store #11271 located here in New Iberia, off of Hwy. 14. I gave a coupon to redeem for $1.00 from a bottle of Wisk laundry detergent. As soon as I gave it to the Mgr. she shook her head. I said what? She asked me where I got the coupon. I said I printed it off the computer. She said we don't take any except from our store and the newspaper. She said the internet scams for ex. offering free soda and chips. My coupon was not offering anything ""free"" and certainly not soda, nor chips. I called Customer Service and they said no coupons and that is fine. I have many friends that go to your store where I live and print coupons. From now on, I will go elsewhere. Heaven forbid I go to the store and avoid 4 bad days of torrential rain so I could get $1.00 off the $5.50 Wisk - maybe you did me a favor and its cheaper elsewhere. Tammy is the very best worker you have in that store. She always made me feel welcome and she is constantly working so very very hard. That lady deserves to be "The Manager". You won't be hearing from me again because I WILL NEVER GO INTO YOUR STORE(S) EVER EVER AGAIN AND NEITHER WILL MY FAMILY NOR FRIENDS.

I went to the dollar general in southport florda. I asked the cashier for a visa gift card. She showed me a what I thought was a gift card, I purchased them and added $20.00 on the two cards. It ended up being just a reload card that was useless to the people I bought them far. I went back to the store and talked to the manager that was there and I was told I had to purchase another card for an additional fee of $5.95 after I had already paid $2.95 and add another $20.00 to the cards which would be a total of $40.00 per card. I said no and I wanted corporate's phone number. So he called someone who told him to give me another card without the fee and $20.00 extra, but I would have to use one of the reload cards to put on the card he gave me. Well, I activated the one card for $20.00, turned around and asked to put the $20.00 reload on the card and I was told I had to give them my ss#, address, phone number. This was just going to be two gift cards for $20.00 each. The manager told me he was giving me the card but I could not contact corporate office. After tonight trying to put the money on the card and I refused to give them my personal infor. I will be talking to corporate and giving them the whole infor. So my advise. Do not buy the visa gift cards. Especially if you don't know anything about them and you think your getting help from the cashier. Who does not know anything about the cards.

Looks like with all the poor ratings for dollar general, people need to start shopping at freds are the family dollar. dollar tree. They are opening like hot potatoes, but they can close just as well for such poor customer service. We may not have alot of money right now and shop for less, but we are not stupid.

Everything you have said and heard about Dollar General is true.I worked for the company for about 7yrs.When I first started with them I thought the management was a joke she had no training in management.She started off as a cashier then took the manger job.She did things she wasn't suppose to,like steal. I have worked in many stores where the rats waited on the customer.They even ran them down just to help them.I had to clean up 3 of the rat store and was not hired or trained to do it.Did you know when you go into a store at smells bad,it's the rat pee.Don't stay in the store or shop in it,get out.If you don't you will end up sick,very sick from it.I know cause now I have to live from the lung disease I got from cleaning them up.I was told of the many diseases they carry after the fact.So if you have a child or know someone who works for them,tell them to quit there much better jobs out there.The emp.'s treated bad.Dollar general don't care about them.As long as they are working to keep the Home Offices pocket big and fat with money they don't care what happens to you. Oh yes and if you should get hurt whether you are a customer or employee at a store,don't think they will pay you a dime for your bills.They didn't tell you to get hurt.Some of us GOOD mangers worked our butts off and for what they got fired or quit.The mangers have to work over 65 hours a week just so they can maybe have one extra employee there to help while they put stock away,of what they can.So these store that are not stocked its because the manger doesn't care or not enough hours to have extra people to work.A poor manger can take a brand new store and with end a year to two have it look like it had been there for 10n yrs.DG did finally start sending mangers to training school but they are taught nothing but to sit on there butts. I guess you might be thinking why did I stay for 7yrs,will I was one of those mangers who cared about there store and emp.'s.I did get fed up with them and quit and I'm glad I did but I wished to God I quit before I got sick.So if you want to still shop at a DG please go to one that is new or clean.Oh and if you are Pregnant please don't shop DG you will make your baby sick before it is born.I could tell you much more about DG but need to go for now.

I have been in the new Dollar General Store on South Main St., Madisonville, Ky. several times. These employee's has a attitude that i\sis unbelieveable. They are very rude. They act as if they are having to do you a favor when you ask a question. I work at a Dollar Store myself and if we treated our customors like that we would be looking for another job. I am very proud of our store and our manager. We get lots of compliments from our people and out of town people. Some of these are people from Madisonville.

i was in the topeka store (the one on 10th) and my boyfriend and i were at the front ready to check out the cashier stood there talking to the other cashier for like 5mins than checked us out but never got a how are you today or did you find everything okay or anythhing. than when she was done i tried handing her the change to get an even amount of dollars back and she ignored me and didnt take my change and we she didnt even give us our recipt. i called the manager and the manager didnt even act like she was even going to do anything about it. i will never shop at dollar general ever again. i work at walmart in topeka and if i was to do something like this to a customer i would get in soooo much touble with my managers. i am very unpleased with the way this store is being ran they needa get new managers and new cashiers in this store. kansas is having problems with people being able to get jobs. and it seems all they want to do is hire the disrespectful and rude people dollar general needs to majorely get new people hired in this store on 10th ave in topeka b/c there was one nice employee in that whole store and it sure n the hell was not the cashiers. like i said earlyer i will never ever shop in a dollar general ever again these people that work there are very rude.

I was at the store at Kennywood Mall, West Mifflin, PA today October 30, 2010 & checked out at 1:30 p.m. At the checkout, I gave the male clerk 15 coupons: one $2 off coupon, one $1.50 off coupon, six $1 off coupons, one $0.75 off coupon, and six Buy-One-Get-One coupons. At the end of checkout, I assumed the male store clerk scanned the coupons, as that is part of their job. Once I got up to Giant Eagle, in the same mall, & I was halfway through the store & already had groceries in my "market-cart". Something told me to look at my receipt from Dollar General. That is when I noticed the male clerk did NOT take off the coupons that I had given him. I went back down to the store, & complained to him & the Manager. The store clerk did say that he remembered taking the coupons from me, but did not know what he did with them?!! How could you Not know?? I complained to the Manager & she said that without the coupons, she cannot give me the dollars off of my products! So I was Ripped-Off" and I am upset. I am telling everyone I know to Make Certain, if they give coupons at whatever store, make sure they get scanned. And BEFORE they leave the check-out lane, CHECK THEIR RECEIPT!!

i have a HUGE complaint to make about dollar general although i do not feel comfortable posting it on here because i doubt very seriously anything will be done?

What do you expect with a low price dirt bag store? You're going to get people that are underpaid and don't care about anything but five finger discounts and the pay check. why would they? They deal with trash balls on a daily occurrence.

I love the service people at Dollar General, friendly, helpful. However, I recently bought a Clover Brand box of raisins, that appeared to hold about 2 cups of raisins. Imagine my reaction when I opened the box to find a teeny bag less than half the size of the box. The box clearly says net wt 6 oz, but the visual illusion of the box holding more tricks the consumer into thinking they are getting more. Why would Dollar General allow such deception to people who have to live on tight budgets. This is just symptomatic of the food industry in general who do other misleading things like putting mayonnaise in 30-ounce bottles but still charging the quart size prices. I'd rather a food product say up front, "Hey, we're going to charge you more than before," than to use such low-minded tactics. And Clover Valley, you take the cake when you only fill your box of raisins half way, but charge the full-box price. Shame on you.

I was in the Raytown Mo location to return a hair perming kit. I purchased the kit and when I got home, I opened the box and seen that the liquid bottle had busted and was still placed on the shelf. I jumped back in the car to make it back to Dollar General before 9pm; when they close. When I walked back in the younger cashier was very sweet and was empathetic towards us and our situation. I went to the shelf and picked out another kit with a $ 2.75 difference. When we went to check out, the younger cashier called the manager to the front when she finally got there the younger girl was telling her the issue we had with the kit and manager looks at me (with attitude) says Whats wrong with it? I looked at her and pointed at the box and said it's not supposed to look like this. She turned around with an attitude and started keying in numbers, she turned around and asked (with attitude) You couldn't find one of the same value, we explained to her that we needed one with the same specifics and there were not any more on the shelf. She got snotty and replied and " I am just asking before you going to need to the visa you paid with to swipe it for the refund" we produced the card. She then turned around and rolled her eyes, asked the reciept and when my friend handed it to her she snatched it. I simply asked her why she had and attitude, she then began to get very hostile and talk ignorance. We did argue because I feel I should not be treated like crap in any store I walk into. Especially being that I have been going to this store every week for 5 years! We walked out the store with our kit, she took my license plate number and called the cops. So I stayed there until they came so they could get both sides, and I did not look like I was fleeing the scene. We spoke to the cops, and she told one cop that she did not want us back into the store and that if we did come back it would be trespassing. I have been a customer there for 5 years, never have I had an issue with any other cashiers or managers! This girl speaks to every one rudely as if she is not working in a customer service setting. I do not think she should be employed with a company who wants customers to return. It is not my place to terminate her, but if I have to deal with unecessary attitudes when I got to buy my household products, I will never shop there again and neither will my friends,family, or co-workers! I love dollar general and especially the older women and guys who work there, we conversate all the time, however I feel I should spend my money else-where if I have to deal with rude cashier/assistant managers.

I was a long time customer of DG in Loganville Ga. until they got a new store manager a few weeks ago. He is very unfriendly as well as not knowing anything about the store or anything else for that manner. I asked him how long he had been in the retail industry and his reply was four weeks!The other manager had been there for six years, but DG busted her back to the assistiant manager and cut the employees back to 10 hours a week. Needless to say this store has major issues and I avoid it all together now!
