I am complaining about the Greenville, NC store #7428 the store managaer's name is Nicole. I frequent this store quite often and I got a $5 Off coupon and wanted to use it in the store to save some money. I forgot to use the coupon at check out but immediately remembered and asked if it could be applied to my purchases. The store manager was very unhelpful and her only reason for not applying the coupon was "but you already purchased everything"...so I just UN-purchased everything and returned all of my items. What an idiot! There are millions of stores that deal with these types of issues everyday I was not aware that this type of transaction was too difficult for Dollar General especially for a loyal customer. So, I rode down the street to Walmart and purchased everything that I needed there.
I guess dollar general doesn't franchise it sells it's stores outright so what's the point in complaining either you want to do business there or not. Some of those managers may actually be the owners I don't know and possibly their family works with them too. What can you do just shop there or not and stop complainin about it. I guess dollar general makes their money off the lease and products they distribute which is really a great deal actually I would like to get in on that I wonder how much a dollar general costs. Thanks for reading this and you cant expect the people to bend over and kiss your behind just because you purchased from them you exchange money for a product not some unrealistic expectation of service that a slave wouldn't provide
Today, March 25, 2011, I went to the check out counter with an $8.50 item. I gave the checker a single $20. Without thinking, I watched her put the $20 bill under a stack of other bills. Finally, she handed me one dollar as change..... and asked me for a dime. I did not comprehend at first what was going on. I told her I gave her Twenty dollars. She of course claimed I did not. I demanded to see the manager who came from the back of the store--- very very angry. She stepped in front of the cash drawer and began counting money, which meant nothing. The Cashier had said she had no twenties in her drawer, but there was a twenty on the bottom of the first stack of bills counted. The Cashier pulled open her apron and said, see, I don't have it. No she didn't. It was still in the drawer. I wanted to call the police but called my husband who said just go home. HOWEVER, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WE HAVE HAD THAT EXPERIENCE AT A GENERAL DOLLAR STORE.I will shop there no more!!!!!!!!
Year after year I have contacted my local Dollar General Store requesting a donation for a school organization. Each time I am either told, "We don't do that" or contact our corporate office" or "I don't know the phone number or who you need to talk to." One time they stated that they would call me back with the corporate number and never did, so I found it myself. I then contacted corporate office and never received a return phone call. I just feel like I am always given the run around. I know it is for a donation request, but good customer service would be to give me a "yes" or "no", not a run around. I do not respect an organization who talks so much about how they give, but then can't grant a small monetary request for a local community that supports them.
I have always enjoyed shopping at Dollar General until I visited one of your stores in Odessa, Texas on 42nd Street. On Sunday, March 20, 2011 around 10:00am. I went in to this particular Dollar General and upon entering the store I was approached and INSULTED, not greeted, by one of the employees! The 1st thing out of her mouth was, "Why would you color your hair that color?" She said this extremely loud and kept asking me the same question throughout the store until I answered her. She wanted to know if this was my natural hair color. She made a point in telling me that she didn't understand why in the world I would color my hair the color I did. I was absolutely shocked by her behavior and I can honestly say that I have never been treated this badly anywhere I have shopped in the past. I finally reponded to her with, "It was my hair and my choice!" I continued shopping for the items I needed and then went to checkout and the same employee questioned me about the items I was buying. I bought several coffee creamers and she embarrassed me with comments over the amount of coffee creamer I was buying! Really??? You have got to be kidding me!! I was insulted, embarrassed, and I promise that due to this type of service I guarantee that I will NEVER not only visit this Dollar General, but any other one as well!!! Please work on training your employees on customer service!!! As a consumer, this type of treatment is just unacceptable!!behavior
I work at Dollar General In Bedford,Pa. I am currently a part-time worker because I am going to college full time. I was hired on and promised only 20 hours a week while I am in school. When I first started school while working I was doing great, since I am at 30 hours/5 days a week I am struggling. I am on the verge of flunking out of my semester and all because I cant get my hours cut. I also have a big problem when my store manager leaves after I tell her my other co-worker on the clock smells like beer. The other co-worker did not even get written up for that! This all happens because she wanted to go home and did not want to deal with the situation. She is also rude to customers and screams at other co-workers on the sales floor in front of customers. She also never does her End Of Day paperwork and leaves it for her Assistant Manager to deal with. That is bad business ethics and does not give any of us at that store a reason to look forward to going to work. my email is dreisling10@gmail.com
i am writing to you to complain about one of your store managers her name is jennifer at store 9940 in yamasee s.c. that is what was on her tag she is very rude to customers when she is in the store. and a few times i was in the store i have seen her talk down to one of the other managers she thinks he is her slave. i heard her cuss him and tell him the store is trash since he came. well i am here to tell you. i quit comming to this store for a long time.then i heard you had a new employee his name is david. he is very friendly and help people who come into the store. he has really made a differance in this store. he has made it an enjoyment to come to the store he smiles and says hello and ask if he can help you. but due to this jennifer girl i guess is his boss. he wants to leave this store. well if he leaves you will loose a lot of customers that come to this store. he has made it a big change it's far and in between to come into a store and feel like your welcome. he has really cleaned it up it was really bad before he came. now it's nice to come into a store that you can actually get around in. i have a lot of family in the yamasee area and monks corner who shop this store now cause of him if he leaves we are gone to.some one of the home office needs to come to this store for a surprise and just see how it is in this store. and to have a talk with this girl and teach her how to treat other employees. you don't yell at an employee in front of other employee and store customer for no reason.it looks like she is trying really hard to get rid of him cause he has done such a good job. i hope someone can talk him in to staying.i will drive the extra miles to shop else where if he goes cause of her. just saying. you don't have to many employees who take the time with their customers to help them.i just hope someone from the big office sees this and does something to keep this young man.a customer in yamasee south carolina
My wife works for a florida store she has not worked there very long and is already being mistreated. the managers there are very rude and disrespectful to employees and customers alike. i have lived just minutes from the location were this store was built all my life so we shop there frequently but as of now will never shop there again. i will not support or help keep the doors open to an establishment that operates so poorly and that treats its employees and customers like crap. i will be in contact with local district and regional managers as well as contacting corporate offices to speak to a human not leave a review. this is a very serious matter that needs to be addressed here and as i can see many other places in the united states.
the employees at the kingman az store have not once but twice offended me in major ways the first time a complaint was made and it was said it would be handled which i know to not be true cause yesterday almost a year later the same two employees not only offended me but yelled at another customer if something isnt done this time I Will Make sure this store is shut down and i hope you know that i am astute enough and powerful enough to make sure of this!
I have been a customer of dollar general for approximatly 4 some odd year since a student of mine started working there. Since I started shopping there I loved the friendly customer service and dedication this young women gave to us consumers of dollar general. This young girl I remember about a year ago was pregnent running store and vomitting in a trash can I asked if there was any one I could call for her she stated no this is my job and its my job to run this store. And took her weak body back to helping customers with out a complaint well my complaint is where is this young girl the manager there now yells at employees its unfriendly atomesphere employee don't smile and when I aske this female for help she pointed her finger and said over there I want the other person back the person who was customer friendly and always made a point to help us customers in any circumstance I thought that's what dollar general was about my store are in tullahoma tn
Dollar General is the worst place in the world!!! The most unprofessional person is Donna Jackson. She should be removed as the regional manager. She is not honest and I would investigate her closely.
I went to the phil campbell, alabama store useing store coupons only to find out that they didn't take any of them off. I should have saved around $21 when in fact I saved nothing at all I could have saved a lot more going to wal mart
I would not even give the dollar general where I live 1 star, that would be giving them way more than they deserve. I went into the dollar general today to purchase a few items and at the checkout the cashier said my total was $39.00. I paid that but thought that was kind of high, so when I got to the car I added it myself and my total was only $22.00. So I went back into the store and got the assistant manager she said she would help me instead she opened a register and began helping people that were there after me. I stood there for about 10 minutes being ignored and when I asked her if she was going to help me or not she said you know what just forget it I am not going to give you a refund and gave me my receipt back. I think the dollar general needs to do better screening or something before they hire people as assistant managers. To me this lady should not have been a manager nor should she have been an employee there. I will no longer go there to purchase any items and will let everyone know about my experience so that they may second guess themselves before going into that dollar general.

I work for dollar general in Brunswick for four weeks was let for for not feeling well and telling the manager on duty I had to go didnt not feel good there was two manager on duty at tht time,abandment of my job,bad_ thing about this is I love my job,fret place to work,
I use to shop at the Brunswick Ohio store until everytime I go in there the store is filled with boxes/ dirty,you have to watch so you dont fall over them,you can not find a staff to help you out and if you do,they are to busy to stop what they are doing to help,answer is it will be in on the next truck.
i was in dollar general on 3/8/11 in hinton w.v. i was just going to get a few things but like always i should have got a buggy, i was almost done and i went up front to get my son a trac phone he iz 7 and i think he deserves it , but anyway while i was standing there vera the manager came up and was talking to the employee debbie about someone stealing and they was like i will catch her sometime then she called a place and said to check cameras, when nothing came back she started to stand and watch me through a hole in the racks i felt so angrey i spent my 83.00 dollars but i think i will take it back tomm just to be a butt... lol
I shop quite frequently at the Dollar General here in Crestview,Fl. I went there to purchase one item and ended up purchasing only 3 after dealing with their rude and very abrupt manager. I was going to purchase 2 sets of earbuds as they were on the sale rack that was advertised at 2.50 each. There were only 3 left and I was going to purchase 2 of them. Got the register to ring up my items and the earbuds rang up at 4.00 each instead of the advertised 2.50, so, the salesperson rang up something else thinking tyring to figure out why the discrepency. The manager came up and we walked back there and discovered that whomever they had putting up merchandise put the merchandise on the wrong rack and did not change the price sticker to reflect correct price, well, that is not the customers fault. That is the fault of a non dilegant manager who cannot constructively oversee his store or staff and you NEVER try to justify to a customer why they should pay regular price when it is a store's mistake. It made me so upset, that I did not purchase the earbuds and paid for only the minor 3 items I bought and I do not plan on returning to that store ever again. I WILL SPEND MY MONEY SOMEPLACE ELSE even if it cost more!!!
When I go online and download bank receipts through Quicken, often I only get store numbers from Dollar General, but not the name of the city. I would like to know "the name of the city" the store number represents for the following Dollar General Store numbers. 13903, 471307; 2326; 0430; 12539; and 1673 I'm sure some are from Murphy NC, Moulton AL, and Birmingham AL, and other cities, but I'm not sure which. Our local DG store hasn't been open for very long here in Polo, Illinois. I wouldn't even rate this store to be a 1. The managers and employees are very rude. They swear a lot when they are working and there is never any one at the check out counter. They are more worried about having personal conversations in the back of the store or standing outside smoking. I've had about enough of their crap. They don't even say hi, smile, or talk to you while you are in there or standing at the counter. Everytime I have been in the store, I have had to ask for someone to come to the counter and I usually have to grab my own bags. It is time to get rid of these managers and employees and get some new ones. I have confronted them on these problems but they don't seem to see how they act. I was in the store sometime last year with my mom and sister. We were in the back of the store picking up a few items when we heard the manager pretty much yelling at an employee telling her that if she can't stock items the right way then she shouldn't do it at all. In my opinion, she needed to take the girl to the back room and confronted her there instead of out in the open. Very rude!!! Also another thing is that there are limited parking spots at the store. There are I think 2 that are right in fron of the store that are handicaped and the rest are for everyone else... the employees instead of parking next to the building in the other parking spaces, take the closes parking spots available!!! When you have someone who has children, or are elderly, or disabled (broken leg?!), they should be the ones to have the parking spots. Someone needs to do something!!!!
