I would like to file a complaint to Dollar General in reference to writing checks. I shop DG every week and spend at least $100 per week there, buying all my dog food there as well as cleaning supplies. I have written many checks there and never had any problem doing so. But my last visit I wrote a check for $39. and your check co. denied my check. Well needless to say I was so embarrassed and left the store and went and spent $188 at Walmart. I don't know if I will ever shop DG again. As it stands not. I was completely humiliated and don't know why???? I would like a corrective action taken on DG's part on my behalf. Been shopping this store since it opened weekly. Big loss to DG!!!! Thank you! Karen Malpass
I usually go the Pound Va Dollar store 3 times a week. but here later I've stopped going. When employee Donna goes next door to another store and jumps on a customer. and now she has a law suit pending on her. The manager Nichole know's all about this. and she's still working everyday. I think Dollar general needs too take a hard look at the employee's at the store and also the manager. I know you can do alot better than what you have now. As long as this managwer stay's and this worker I'll go else where to shop.
I noticed today that the local DG no longer accepts MasterCard (except as debit card). No explanation, and of course the minimum wage/no bennies employee on the register didn't have a clue why. A real customer turn-off. You either accept credit cards or you don't.
I would like to let you know of a an incident today that happened to my wife in Anna Ill Jonesboro area. She was traveling back from Paducha Ky To Festus Mo. The tornado sirens went off and she stopped to take cover. The manager told her to leave and that she couldn't stay. Luckily she was able to get into a Casey's right before the storm hit. The storm came and there were damaging winds, gumball sized hail and a little golf ball sized hail. The tornado siren went off and there was a funnel cloud sighted. She was driving right into this storm and you threw her out which could have gotten her killed. This is real American on the Managers part. My wife does shop at Dollar General but we will no longer spend our money in a place that doesn't care about a person life. I am very upset about this.
Today, Wed. April 13, 2011 at 1:47pm my daughter, granddaughter, and I went to dollar general store # 00818 at 1620 E. Wade Street, Trenton, Florida 32693, Phone number (352)463-0013. We went to the back of the store, looking at the glade air freshener's, when Ann Marie came walking towards where we were, to go into the back, office/lounge part of the store. She was SO RUDE, walked righted right in front of us, did not say excuse me, or anything. Acted as if we were in HER WAY! We shopped for at least 30 -45 min., when at the check out, I noticed the paper bowls had a rip all the was down the side of the package. So I went to get another pack of bowls, the first isle I tried to go down, Ann Marie was stocking, she had the cart blocking the way so I couldn't get by. Therefore I had to go down 2 isle's to get the bowls, at which time she gave me a very NASTY look, I said thank you, for moving that cart so I can get by,(in which she had not moved for me to get by, I was being smart) then I said I guess I will have to call, the home office on you. She said if you do I will get you for slander! I said do what you have to do! LOL! When I was back at the register my daughter heard Ann Marie call me a BITCH!!!!!!! The lady that was cashier seemed to have an attitude also. If we dare say anything to the cashier, she acted like it was a pain in the a$$ to answer, VERY, VERY, SHORT,& SMART when she answered, which has happened more than a dozen times before and I just over looked it, but come on now, there are TOO MANY other stores to shop at, if dollar general employees want to treat me, and others like this. No problem, with the other employees, or the management team, as they all have been VERY NICE, and more than willing to help you. They act like they like there job, and it shows in the way they trea
I was in the Rich Hill Mo store on the day of their grand opening the store was so nice and neat. I just have one complaint the line got really long and there was only one cashier working. There was a girl just standing there doing nothing so I asked someone before I left I hope she is not management and she is THEIR THIRD KEY. She was just standing there watching the other ppl work. Then I was in there today and this same girl was working and still she was not watching the register I had to stand and wait while she was flirting with the young guy working there too. I love that the store is neat and tidey but I will not return if some ppl are just going to stand around and do NOTHING FOR THE CUSTOMER! There are employees in there that are very kind and helpful I just can't stand to see people taking advantage of their postion.

I have been employed with Dollar General for several years. The way they do their money is totally wrong. The day shift mod puts the monies collected from the day shift in the deposit bag in a regular envelope tapes it closed. If the money is not correct the night shift mod gets blamed for the deposit being incorrect. we are not allowed to recount the money because it is sealed. I had an incident where the checks did not match the system produced totals. The day shift obviously tallied their checks wrong so guess who got blamed for the mistake? Also the cashiers count their drawer at the beginning of their shift then the mod counts it down at the end of their shift. This is not good. If a person is responsible for their drawer they should be allowed to count their own money. If the day shift had to do their own deposits, I think a lot of these problems would be resolved. It is not fair the way it is currently being done. They use this technique to rid themselves of employees they want to get rid of so they can put a friend in the newly opened position position. If "you" as a company really care about good hard working employees and want better results with the money situation..do some investigating. Thank you for reading this and allowing me the opportunity to voice an opinion.
THIS MESSAGE INTENDED FOR IDIOTS ONLY...Apparently about 75% of the people posting on here THINK they are sending an email to Dollar General corporate headquarters. If you can read, look at the very last thing on the bottom of this page, right above the box where you type a message. This is what it says: "Note: This is not to be used to contact Dollar General Corporate Offices nor is this site affiliated with them in any way. The purpose of this site is supply you with their phone number and address as well as share your thoughts about Dollar General. Your review will be posted and available for anyone to read so please keep that in mind when posting personal information." I found this post particularly amusing (posted on 3/17/2011 by some stupid ass named Jana): "Jana 3/17/11 the employees at the kingman az store have not once but twice offended me in major ways the first time a complaint was made and it was said it would be handled which i know to not be true cause yesterday almost a year later the same two employees not only offended me but yelled at another customer if something isnt done this time I Will Make sure this store is shut down and i hope you know that i am astute enough and powerful enough to make sure of this!" My conclusion is that a lot of D.G.'s customers are at least as stupid as their employees...
I was making a few purchases in the store located in Hillsboro, TX. I do visit this store on a regular basics and have not encountered any major problems. This was the first time however for the purchase of a boost mobile phone card. I picked up one of the boost card and give it to the cashier. She laid the card to the side and looked through the scan card they use to add money to the cards. She scan a card and put the $50. on it. When I called the number given on the receipt the recording stated Movida, this is a company I have never heard of and at the bottom of the receipt were the words non refundable pin. I refer to lose $50 due staff being poorly trained or just not caring to do her job right. If you do not want to work and show pride in your work stay at home. The customer should not have to pay for your mistakes. Very Unhappy and Upset in Texas!!!!!
I was so excited when a Dollar General opened in our small community, which usually consisted of a country store and a feed store. I went for grand opening Flintville Tennessee DG..............got my gift and a $10.00 Giftcard and proceeded to shop. because I typically shop at a dollar store weekly. Well, long story short my gift card didnt work.....I was told by the manager that I didnt have any money on card. I replied I just received it at your store a little while ago. In which se replied we gave cards out at 8AM this morning!!!(short as if I had not received the card there just 55 minutes prior to my ATTEMPTED purchase) After waiting in line 15- 20 minutes and refusing to leave and demanding the manager assist me or the clerk with the card.............she finally came over and implied that I didnt get the card that morning and she couldnt do anything to about it ! Well as you know I was pissed and told her she was calling me a liar (implied by her) not in words! She finally starting for the first time trying to make the card work!!!!!I have Never been so humiliated in my life (our Fantastic Community DG) AND unless someone apologizes which she did NOT for the embarrassment and inconvience around my neighbors!!!!I will not darken the door ways again of a DG!!! I am a business owner myself so I DO KNOW HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS!!! Maybe DG Should check store Managers ATTITUDES before hiring. Dissappointed in Flintville!!!
I would like to bring to your attention a very special employee, by the name of Ms. Brenda Cliner. She is employed at your store #00590 Charlestown Rd.,New Albany,In. My family moved from the northeast, and I cannot tell you how lucky you are to have her in your employ. She is always gracious, helpful, and very professional. She is truly a treasure, and I wish you would place this in her file. Thank-you
Today, I purchased a Bobbie Brooks cami-shaper at the Dollar General in Havana, IL. Since there is no provision for trying them on, I could only go by the sizing chart on the back of the package. I purchased the proper size according to the chart but got home to find that the sizing was terribly off. I couldn't even get the garment over my shoulders and I am not a large woman. I then found that I could not return it because it was considered to be underwear which has a no return policy. I might as well have driven by the store and thrown a $10 bill out the window. I can't affford to lose my money on inferior products and won't be shopping at Dollar General again. I told the manager that product needs to come off the shelf so that other customers don't end up throwing their money away and stuck with something they can't use. I'm angry.
I was in Dollar General on Sunday, Manger Carlettia was working, she had a line of 10 people or more, she went outside, and stayed approx. 5 minutes while customer was waiting. When she came back in, the lady asked her name, and she yelled at the lady, well when I got up there, she was so rude, she was still talking on her CELL PHONE, AND Shoved my money in my hand, I said BITCH, she said BITCH. We went into a yellling match,I told her how unprofessional she was and so on, she told me to come closer so we could fight, I then asked her to come outside. This is really the worst peroson that works there, I am so unplease, and I am determined to get her out the store and out our community, becuase some will fight her...
I go into the dollar general in hermann, mo alot and I am very suprised with how the employees act there. I went one day and i waited at the cashier for a couple minutes(2 employees stood there talking, knowing i was there)and finally someone came to check me out. The younger girl employees talk at each other across the store and i think that looks bad on there part. The ones that i do have a problem with is the manager and one of the girls that work there and i believe her name is Danielle. They are rude with there customers. I really would like to see a nice atmosphere inside there instead of the employees making themselves look unprofessional and rude!
VERY VERY VERY UNHAPPY with my vist at your store in Cedartown Ga. on Main St. I bought my 4 year old a $10.00 kite. Got it home and it would not fly, so we were going to take it back and the asst. manager was SOOOO RUDE. He would not refund my money this was the same day I bought it. And I had my reciept, it would not be returned on HIS SHIFT. This is really sad becouse I love Dollar General, but I will not pay good money for a product that does not work and be talked to the way this jurk did!!!!!
On Thurdsay 03/31/2011 around 7:40 p.m-7:55 p.m. I went to the store to purchase Cold medicine and tylenol for my daughter. At this time my daughter had an temp of 101 and I never shop at walmart always with dollar general. My total came out to be 7.12 I present cashier Jacqueline an 100.00 she tell me in her words ( I do not have change for this in my drawer. I stated are you serious I have an sick child in the car well you check the other register she stated they didnt have it either. ) I felt that was very poor customer service she had an I dont care attitude. From working in the professional field for over 15 years that's not the correct protcol. I feel someone need to correct or retrain her because you suppose to help your customers when they are purchasing and keeping them with a job. This is Jackson MS store off Siwell Road.
I was recently offerd a job at DG in NC, you would think that one would be excited especially if you were out of work for six months, but that is not the case. This is a new store, only five months old and it looks like a hurricane hit it. It appears that headquaters expectation is clearly to run there stores on a shoestring buget, while expecing the worker to perform an mission impossible sucess story, inspite of the incredible harsh conditions. It also appears that in the process of doing that, it has lower the moral and taken away the spirit of good hard working people that natural had good people skills, but because of the unbearable working condition these good people are left with a broken spirit and the lingering task of remaining employed. I am a business major, I went through the quick express hiring process with the an on call manger, but after I did my assestment of the store and their expectation, it appears to me that corperate mission is more about profit than of the working condition of it's employee's. "Come on this is not a third world country". I walk away with nothing but sadness that they would expect employee's to accomplish a job without giving them the tools needed to do so. For anyone to think that a store of that size can sucessfully run without having the man power to do so, is either trying to reverse slavery without caring about the effect of the people,or just profit driven. either way it's bad. To all of the people who have work there I'm sad that at a time when jobs are limited, one may feel as if you have no choice, but I stand to advice you, until thoes at the top can honor "it mission"... do as I did.... run, flip burgers or pray for a Target or another corporation who takes pride in the people who makes it all happen, meaning customers and employee's the ones who really brings in the $$$$dough. Come on GD wake up, U can do better.
I have shopped at Dollar General in Etowah, Tennessee, and never will again. I have witnessed the registers being left unattented, and a friend of mine that works there say they come up short all the time and it is kept very secretive. The money is supposedly made up by the employees on duty..Some employees are threatened to walk the line. The manager has her picks. And they watch you like you are going to steal something.
I went to the Magnolia, Arkansas store, and it was not a good experience at all. This store had only THREE shopping carts, two of which were so jammed together they were impossible to separate. I spent about an hour shopping, and had all my deals together. I get to the register, and the manager refuses to take my coupons stating she was a newly trained manager and that Dollar General does not take any coupons except for those that say Dollar General. I pulled up your coupon policy on my cell phone, and showed her she was wrong but still refused to help me. I have fibromyalgia and other health issues and I am very limited on what I can do, I was unable to physically go to another store and shop for another hour. She could have called the district mananger to ask, but instead she just said she was sorry and did nothing. I left empty handed, sweaty, and exhausted. To top it all off, the store was extremely hot, and I also had my 4 year old daughter with me!!
