I am so happy to have a new Dollar General store in my community, I do not have to drive far to pick up a few grocery items or household goods! Dollar General always have clean stores, stocked shelves, and low prices to fit my budget! Dollar General is like a mini WalMart!
brought a six pack of diet pepsi on May 8th, 2011. opened a can. tasted flat. looked at date on bottom of can. date was 1-2011. so that tells my the workers or whoever is responsible are not checking their merchandise. Had to make an unnecessary trip back to the store; with the price of gasoline, to get a refund. So i have decided it is not productive for my to shop at any dollar general store in the future. I will take my chances with walmart, target and the other major stores. your loss will be someone's else gain. good riddance to you all and to all a good nght
i work at the store in randleman North Carolina.. I love my job but lately it seams more of a problem to go to work all of the employees are fed up with the manager..we had a store meeting Sat. at 6:30 AM she cussed during the meeting called me out in front of everyone for something I didn't even do..i have had MANY customers complain about her how rude she is,how she speaks to her employees, she informed us that she is a manager and doesn't have to touch any freight and is NOT going to...we have lost many customers to her and one of our BEST employees tonight she is quitting because of the manager and the employee has been with the company for 8 years!! we are fed up with her and something HAS to be done about it..we have had many customer complaints about her and the corporate man has done nothing about it!!! so anybody that has ANY complaints PLEASE call the toll free number and make the complaint
the dollar general in llyod, ky is very nice but the store manager ranae dummit and her manager megan mccoy are bestfriends and they treat their employees like garbage. they are making that place a whore house instead of a working enviroment. this is wrong and someone needs to do something about it.
Management position may be a good thing in Claremont, N.C. Store #9218 It seems the current manager has plenty of spare time as he is noticed outside smoking 15 to 20 times a day. He even has a chair outside to relax while smoking. I also understand he likes to hire females (with plenty of cleavage showing) unless you happen to be a first cousin or maybe a close friend. It looks to me like upper management would do something to stop this but it might be a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. So there's my two cents.
After recently visiting your store located in Greenville MI I will never purchase another product from your company! I experienced the WORSE customer service I have ever encountered! Not only did the employee greet myself but many other potential customers at the door and make us move our vehicles in a very distasteful manner, she also stated that we takenour business else where! this was all due to us parking along the vurb outside of the store because theren was not ONE open parking spot!! I went into the store after she threatened and disrespected myself and several other customers only to have her harass my husband to move the car, which he did. The employee followed him and wroteb our license plate and then came into the store. At this point several would be customers drove away and did not make any purchases due to the horrendous behavior of this employee, many whom where elderly!!! I myself was attempting to grab one item, thus the reason I didnt find it to be a big deal that I park curbside, only to hear the employee return into the store to trash talk evry customer she just detoured from the store!! I put my item down and walked out and the employee and the cashier followed me outside for a second time! At this time I turned around and exchanged words with the out of line employee and her side kick! There were new customers about to park where we were originally park (due to no open parking spots) only to be treate the same way and leave without making a purchase. Mind you this is in a strip mall and there were multiple cars parked up and down the curb in front of every store along the strip. She was the ONLY store employee making a deal out of customers parking choices. In fact several other store employees came out to see what the commotion was all about! I witnessed four vehicles pull in and out without making a purchase due to this employee! I buy all my essentials from Dollar General, from my dog food right down to my childs school supplies! Neddless to say I wont be spending another dime at ANY Dollar General location ever again and i can say I think after the service rendered this evening I am not the only business lost due to your employee.....oh let me add that I asked her for her name and she refused it so I had to get out of my vehicle(I was about to drive away and she was still outside of the store yelling at me) I then got out of my vehicle and had to walk over to her to read her name tag which wasnt even complete! it said Ter. I am assumingher name is Terry or Teresa! I am filing a complaint with the district or corporate manager in the morning because I think this woman was the manager of that branch! Also I was a former Dollar General employee and I would never imagine demonstrating that type of service to any customer or potential customer, let alone several!! I hope this matter is not taken lightly and management realizes that store lost business due to its employee(s)!!! I will and did take my business else where like instructed and will continue to until she is fired!! Greenville Dollar General has the rudest and out of line employee ever!!!!!!!!!!
After reading the other comments,I'm sure I am wasting my time....however, on the chance that corporate MIGHT give a d..... I just returned from shopping at my local DG (5000 E. 16 St., Indianapolis,IN.) and it was terrible. 7 people in line waiting at least 5 mins for the sloth of a manager to come to clear out a sale is unacceptable! No apology to anyone..no acknowledgement of the customers and she even went so far as to stroll (her speed IS SLOTH) out to her car rather than help clear up the backload. Additionally, the store was covered with items that needed to be stocked (on a FRIDAY!) Lots of lost sales there. Now,since I am a professional manager, I have done my duty to inform you are a permanent lost customer...........Family Dollar is 1/2 block away.
The cairo dollar general stores (2) of them are in jepoardy of a major levee break. Staly open..... District mgr..... Stay open...... Lives are not worth anything, our insurance will pay off. What a operation. They will NOT get another penny from me. BUT they want yours! They don't care about their employees. I don't work for them (Thank God) but, the leadership is unreal. Risk peoples lives....WOW... Everything else has closed in Cairo, Grocerie Stores loaded semis, Rent one loaded up, NAPA loaded up, and all the other business' in town. But NOT dollar general..Can you believe this. National gaurd, sink holes, levee sand boils all over, State of Illinois even packed up the DMV with people from springfield IL. But not the dollar general. Dollar general have employees losing everything such as their homes!!!! And are expected to keep the store open. 2 main bridges heading out of cairo has been closed, their is only one way out and if this levee goes Dollar General will get insurance money, but there will be loss of life. Unbelievable Dollar General!
I live in Lobelville Tn.I really like having a dollar store in our town because it is so small. But the manager and one of the employees named Kara is so unfriendly when you go into the store. They act like they don't want to help you.Everyone in town is always talking about how rude they are and have been to them.I think if you want to keep your business you need to get rid of them.
Okay, Dollar General Corp. you need to pay attention to your news. Cairo and Mound City is flooding. Rivers rising, leveys are breaking. One of your interstate stores has water at the back of the building, the other in town its a ghost town people businesses and banks pharmacies are leaving. Mean while you have not given permission for your employees to leave. Your district manager is aware of this and refuses to answer phone calls. May i remind you that electricity and water does not mix. Also in the event of water rescue that some employees dont loose their life waiting for corporate or someone to make a decision. How do you value your employees from this stand point i guess not very highly. Do something now before it is to late. Conserned Citizen and father of one of your employees. Answer your phones and let them knw what you decide to do please.
A woman who warks at the Dollar General in Orleans Indiana, Her name is Donna, used to work for a company called Hucks with my mom. Donna, who stole money and was the rudest person working there had been fired and then hired on at the Dollar General a year later. An employee that is currently employed at Hucks was in the store in line, (which had about 12 people in it and only one register open!) was taking forever talking to the person checking out. she was making very rude remarks about how they should change the sign on Hucks windows at Christmas time from Santas little Helpers to Santas little Hoe's. She was involved in this conversation with this woman for about 10 minutes and then continued down the line. when the woman who works at Hucks approached the counter, she said that she worked at hucks and was very happy working where she did, and Donna porceeded to tell this woman how big of a (sorry of this offendes anyone) bitch my mother was; and how my mom was a coward to fire her and how she made her assistant do it and just went on about how horrible my mother was. I find this to be very inappropriate. I called them and asked for their corperate number and they told me it was 1800DollarGenerl. HA! they must think im dumb because this is WAY to long. I THINK THIS DONNA SHOULD BE FIRED!!!
i have had the worst experience at dollar general yesterday!!! the manger PENNY asked me to leave my stroller up front had no problem doing that walk threw the store to grab a couple things and then i remember i forgot my purse in the stroller and i walk around the corner and the manger was going threw my bags saying i was trowing my daughters dirty diapers in the parking lot so i called the cops for her going threw my bags without permission all she had to do was ask or be adult about it and call the cops on me. and the funny thing about it my diaper didn't match the one she found in the parking lot! and then she told the cops i wasn't allowed in the store any more and i love dollar general products. they save me a lot of money! i work at dollar general and let me tell you that you dont want to work there the place will kill your body and mind i have worked there 11 yrs i am ready to move on you people think it is a easy job where you just stand there and wait on customers you are so dam wrong!!!
I shopped at Dollar General in Gladwin, MI over the weekend. It is the last time I will go into that store. The Manager Michelle was such a rude person I will never step foot in that door again. I do not live in that area and was traveling with friends for the holiday weekend we stopped by the strip mall to stretch our legs and check out the stores. I told my friends that my nephew worked at Dollar General and maybe he would be at work so I could say "Hi". When I went to the check out the stringy haired blonde acted like I had disrupted her stocking by wanting to check out. She did not greet me with any sort of respect, and after I paid, I casually ask if XXXX was working. She rudely said "I don't keep track of my employee's schedules" as she stormed off. As I was leaving with my friends they to commented on how rude and unprofessional she was. The said that if that is where my nephew works he needs to get a new job because it is managers like that that make employees hate their jobs. Later that night I called my nephew and told him what had happened. He confirmed that she is like that to everybody. Well little does she know, that treatment is not acceptable in today's society. In order to make a business you need to be nice even when you don't want to be. I am sure this is not the first time you have heard poor customer care about Michelle. So now it is time to do something about it. If she hates her job that much she doesn't need it. At the very least you can clean her up. Her appearance itself says that Dollar General does not take pride in it's employees or how they manage a store.
The Dollar General in Kilmichael could be so much better and could get more business if the manager and the employees were professional. They are so unprofessional and unconcerned. They gossip with the customers. On at least two occassions, they said the computers were down and customers can't not buy anything. On Easter Sunday, the employers were outside taking pictures. Someone from corporate office should pay this store a surprise visit. Workers at WalMart would never behave as the workers at this store are behaving. I have also visited many Dollar Generals, and this one is the worst as far as customer service and professionalism.
i am a family dollar store costumer i shop there almost everyday. at location#2188. but today 4/22/11 i have a complain i bought some milk for my kids. the milk make then sick, they have diarrea and nausea and stomaage. and i am so upset i spoke to store manager and all he did its gave me a corporation phonenumber which # was wrong or a not working numbe. they should do something about it for seeling stuff thats its expired!!!!!!!!!
My daughter & I really like the Dollar General down the street from our home we enjoy going there & usually enjoy our shopping experience....howerer in Mattoon, Il. at store #11082 they have an employee, I believe manager who always makes our shopping experience uncomfortable...today friday 4-22-11 she YELLED at my daughter! my daughter didnt do anything...she bounced a ball on the floor & on the 2nd bounce this manager YELLED at her...if my daughter was unruly i could understand..my daughter was not. This managers name is Stephanie Crump. I will be calling the corporate office to make a further complaint against her....and I will never shop there again. I would hope in the future the company makes wiser choices in employee's.
On 5-9-2011 I went in to Dollar General in Wahoo, Nebraska. I shop there often. When I checked out, the cashier rang up all the items and I swiped by check card, entered my pin, etc. The register had problems and wasn't working, so the cashier re-rang up my items on the other cash register, I swiped my card again, entered by pin, etc. I asked her, "What do I do if I get charged twice?". She said that this usually doesn't happen, but make sure to check with my bank to be sure. After I got home, I checked my bank account online and I was indeed charged twice for my purchase. I called the Dollar General store in Wahoo, and talked to the cashier that helped me. She told me she would notify the manager when he came in and someone would get back to me. She took down my phone number, etc. 5-10-11 I called the Dollar General store in Wahoo, Nebraska and asked for the manager. The person, Kent, I believe his name was, said he was the manager. I told him my name and he said that he was told about what happened to me on 5-9-11 but that he could not call me because he was not allowed to call outside his calling area (long distance). I told him that this was my SECOND long distance call to them! I asked him if they were going to do something about charging me twice. What would have happened if I had not called them? He said that I would be charged twice. I told him I WOULD NO LONGER SHOP AT THAT STORE! He said I have to call their "cash audit" and he gave me a phone number to call 1-700-200-1234, ext. 4757, Option #7. After I hung up with him I called this 1-700 number and it does not work. I went online and found the Corporate Office number (another long distance call) 615-855-4000. I called the number and told the lady that answered that I was given this 1-700 number, that I had problems with a transaction and she said "I don't know why they keep giving this number out." (the 1-700 number) "It's for in-store use only." Then she transferred me to another person and he told me that I would be charged twice, but they would notice that I was charged twice and they would reimburse me. He said to check my bank account after 8 a.m. Central Time on 5-11-11. I asked him, "How would they know that I was charged twice", and he said they could tell by my card number. I asked him what number I should call if I check my bank account tomorrow and I am not reimbursed, he gave me 1-615-855-4757, Option #7. What I want to know is why wasn't the manager knowledgable in how to handle this situation. He obviously didn't now what to do or how to handle this. He should have known how to instruct me on the process of how to get my money refunded: i.e., the CORRECT number to call for assistance, and that I would be charged but reimbursed. I should not have had to go through all this when the error was Dollar General's not mine. Managers not being allowed to make a call (regardless that it's long distance), if it is a customer service issue--that's just stupid! Aren't managers trained? Apparently not. Always wanting me to do these surveys on the receipt, concerned about customer service--PLEASE! This is no way to run a business! I find this whole situation ridiculous!
