Dollar General demeans ALL women by forcing them to ask for pregnancy tests as if getting pregnant is shameful. I will never again shop at a Dollar General after experiencing this archaic, disrespectful policy. I am the primary "breadwinner" in my household and I have to go and ask permission from a store clerk to buy a product to tell me if I have conceived. Shall I wear my poodle skirt and go fix my man a scotch and water as soon as he walks in my perfectly clean house? Who do they think they are? Disgusting Chauvinistic Pigs!!! is who I think they are!!!

Not long ago I went into a Dollar General in Nederland, TX, and spent about 30 minutes in the store. I had a basket full of several things, and by the time I got to the check out line, the cashier informed me that she can only take cash or check...no cards. The debit/credit machine, apparently, "went out" earlier that day. I understand things like this happen, but 1.) there was no sign on the door saying so, which I would think to be common sense, considering most people in 2011 only carry cards on them and 2.) the cashier acknowledging me in the store previously, knew I was there, and not once chose to bring up the fact that I should only waste my time shopping if I had cash or check on me. I wasted 30 minutes in the store, with a 3 month old in tow, and had to leave my buggy at the register because it was apparently too difficult for the cashier to give fore notice that the credit machine was down. Oh, and she couldn't input my card number manually because their computers are not equipped to do that, and looking at the computer, she was right. It looked like something from 1990...perhaps it would be beneficial to update some of your technology?

I was a regular customer at Dollar General Hwy. 70 Connellys Springs, NC. Recently, things have changed and I no longer shop at that store. The manager or lack there of, has no skills in customer service or being professional. Walking in the store you are greeted by a group of employees, including the manager on a smoke break. Nothing is more welcoming than a face full of smoke to welcome customers. When you are done shopping, you must wait for someone to check you out because they are still outside. The employees are not even dressed in professional clothing, the manager wears shorts and looks far from the part of being over a store. It is a shame that Dollar General allows such unprofessional people to run there store. I will simply shop elsewhere. Word of mouth is your worse advertisement and many people I know have moved to other stores where the customer is more important, than a smoke break.

I bought a defective item that I tried to return, but was turned away & treated like a fool. I have e-mailed corporate 2 times & called 4 times. I have gotten no response & still am @ a loss w/ this item, not to forget feeling like a fool & so much waisted time. Dollar General gets a F- in all catagories & will not get another penny from me. I go to Fred's now, they are so nice & helpful. NEXT!!

I LIKE JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR STORES. I AM WANTING TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT A OKC STORE . IT IS LOCATED OFF OF NW 36TH AND MACARTHUR. THE PRODUCTS AND PRICING ARE GREAT, BUT BAD HELP IS JUST ANNOYING. WHEN ASKING A PERSON THAT WORKS THERE A QUESTION TO HERE " I HAVE NO IDEA" IS STUDID. IF THEY ARE EMPLOYED THERE THEY NEED TO FIND OUT . WHERE DO YOU FIND THESE PEOPLE??

There is a young man working in your store on Conners Rd., Villa Rica, GA that is without a doubt the best employee that I have seen at any of your stores. I was in the store on Monday, May 23rd around 12:30 p.m. when an elderly man came in to get out of the hot sun. He had been sitting in his truck waiting on his wife to shop. The young employee got the man a chair for him to sit down and cool off. He asked him if he wanted anything to drink ( soda, water, etc ). While showing concern for the elderly gentleman, he also waited on his customers all the while being very friendly, courteous and professional. I don't know this young man's name but I wish all employees, everywhere, were more like him. I left there with a good feeling.

I am writing about the Dollar General store in Madison Heights, Virginia. This store is less than 6 months old and the parking lot looks like a garbage dump. There are more cigarette butts in the parking lot than you can count. The grass is full of paper cups and fast food bags. I have watched them sweep the front sidewalks, and all he did was to sweep all the butts and trash off the sidewalk and into the parking area. I have also witnessed employees standing out front smoking, and watched them flick their butts into the lot. I have called the store Manager about this, and to say he was apthetic would be an understatement. His main response was "we sweep the sidewalks once a week, what more do you want us to do?" I want him to get his lazy butt out there and clean up his store, that's what I want him to do! I have no problem with the store itself, it is clean and neat inside. And except for the asst. manager, I enjoy shopping there. But the asst. manager is just plain creepy. He looks at you like a serial killer would, glaring at you with his head half turned and chin in his chest. You ask him a question and he looks atyou like he is either really annoyed or he his going to knock you down! He has the personality of a brick! Clean up the parking lot and give the asst. manager a labotamy and you will have a perfect store.

There was no 0 for the rating so I HAD to give you a 1. I was in there today and after a twenty minute wait a new register opened and the man, Henry, said for the next people to come up to the register, so myself and my two friends with me approached the register. He was VERY rude, told us we were not nice because we should have let someone else go in front of us and stood there looking at my items, I asked him to please ring up my items, he continued to be very rude, threw my reciept at me and called me the B word. I called the store and they refused to give me the corporate number.

I have a few issues with my Dollar General here on Isleta Blvd SW Albuquerque NM. I have been a faithful customer of this store since it opened. In more than one occassion I was treated very rudely by a couple of employees. Talking to a manager did absolutely nothing. My biggest issue is the store hours. On the front door hours are stated 8am to 9pm. In more instances than I care to count, I have stopped by to find out the store has closed a half hour to an hour before the designated time. Maybe the employees feel it's ok to leave early to catch a movie or get to dinner but I have to say it is disappointing that a national chain like Dollar General allows their stores to be as average as some second rate mom and pop business. I for one find it worth it to travel down to the Family Dollar down the road.

I was in store # 1097 yesterday to purchase I bag of ice. After paying for the ice, the cashier and I went outside to get the ice and there was not any to sell. The cashier the told me (not asked me) to get my receipt so that she could refund my money. On the way back to the register she had conversations with at least 3 different people all while I was waiting for my refund of $1.36 for the ice. I finally interrupted her and told her that I needed to get my refund because I was in a rush. At this point she called the manager. He came to the front and proceed to have a five minute conversation with the cashier about the ice order, which by the way did not concern me since they had my $1.36 and at this point 20 minutes of my time. I then told the manager that I needed my refund so that I might leave. He ran the refund then gave me the $1.36, then flipped a refund receipt to me. He told me that I had to sign it. I told him that I was not going to sign the receipt because I was simply getting my money back for a product that was not in stock. He yelled at me and told me that I had to sign the receipt. I told him that I was not going to sign the receipt. He got loud in front of the customers and told me to get out of his store and never come back again. I responded in the same manner and told him that All I wanted was a bag of ice and I couldn't even get that from "his" store so there was no need for me to ever come back anyway.

I always thought D.G. was an OK store with decent prices until today, an employee thought my daughter and friend were shoplifting. The employee called the cops. the cops come in the store wait for my daughter to pay for @ 175 bucks worth of stuff I will call it. As they pulled off in the car the cops pulled them over for suspicision of theft. This is not the first time that the cops of Hartselle, Priceville Alabama to name a few have harrassed my kid actually my whole family. Nothing worse than a bored cop in a small town. But the Dollar General employee calling the cops for suspicion of theft. Well nothing was stolen the cops found nothing, but now because of other reasons the car gets impounded. which could have been avoided if the Dollar General Employee would have followed procedure.... Well I assume you don't let the suspected thieves drive away. Well just another case of the poor paying for bs. Big thanks to Dollar General and Priceville and Hartselle PD. Y'all kiss the backside of my lap.

Is headquarters going to do anything? I cannot seem to contact anyone by phone regarding this matter! My new Store Manager insinuated I was lying when I called in on May 22, 2011, letting her know I'd been sick and awake all night, and wouldn't make it in. I don't ever call in. I'm out for a few days on bed rest now. I can't afford to be. However, I'm having some serious health issues. I feel she will retaliate again. This is absolute harassment!!! By the way, Parts 1 and 2 are rated poor as well!!!

I have a complaint on one of your employees and I do not know how to report it or who I should report it to..She works at the dollar general 4308 S Washington St, Amarillo, TX 79110,I felt UNWELCOMED there and when I called the store it was the same woman that answered and she made a "THHHHH" noise at me over the phone, you know the noise a 3 yr old kid makes at their parents when they dont get there way.All I know is that her name is DORA!!! And she works at the store that I just posted...I want something done about this or as god is my witness I will take it into my own hands....tell me how I can get this woman put in her place by this company..I have never in my life felt so unwelcomed at a place and what is so bad in her life that she has to go up to a place of buisness and treat her customers like shit?I want something done about this!!!!!!!This is suppose to be a family friendly place to shop and I felt none of the kind!!!

I don't think it's fair to customers to not sell them the products that ring up for a penny. The cash registers should be fixed so that they won't do that. If a customer really wants the product, they should be able to buy it. Also, employees are often treated very ugly by the managers in the Dollar General stores. I know one manager that fusses his employees out in front of the customers. It seems that is why there is such a large turnover in the employees. It is very rude to do this. If the manager has a problem with the employee, he/she should talk to them in private. Also, one manager accuses some of his employees of being short on the money, but somehow it equals out the next day...so it looks like the managers problem instead of the employee.

The reason I give this poor rating is due to the incident on May 20, 2011 with the Bolivar, MO store. I had business in Bolivar that morning. I had stopped there to purchase some things includeing a "Everpet 2 quart metal dog dish". After paying for my purchases the cashier loaded up the merchandise into the cart for me to put into my vehicle. Which I thought was nice of her to do. Once I loaded the merchandise she even saved me a few extra steps by meeting me to retrieve the cart. That isn't my complaint. My complaint is once I got home the dog bowl wasn't among the merchandise. So I called the store and asked if the bowl was left there. She said it was. I asked her if I would be able to retrieve that merchandise in the Buffalo store since I lived East of Buffalo.(That makes the Bolivar store 30 miles from where I live) She told me that her manager would be there at two o'clock and would find out and would call me and let me know. I waited, no call. So I called the manager and asked him. He tells me absolutely not. I told him fine, I would be there sometime to pick it up and I would never set foot into that store again. Which he seemed as if he didn't care. After I sat down and thought about the conversation with that manager, it wasn't worth driving 60 miles round trip to retrieve a bowl that was over looked by an employee. So I decided to PURCHASE, AGAIN the same bowl at the Buffalo store. I think it is very sad that the stores can't work with each other to help out their customers. If profit is more important than the customers, I feel very sorry to see a thriving store slowly die off due to mistreatment of a customer. Personally, I think Corporate Headquarters should come up with something to help the customers out. I mean the cashier knew the bowl was left. I had the receipt to prove the item was purchased. So how hard would it have been to have had the manager call the other store manger to verify the merchandise was left, given my name. Once I got there I would have been more than happy to show my ID to show who I was and the receipt. Come on how petty are you people?

I shop at DG and have turned on a lot of people from church to shop there. But last night at store #07477 I was behind a women who was being checked out by the cashier. The cashier and customer knew each other, talking about the 8 police cars in the neighbor hood at so and so's house. The cashier started to check my items out, I was ready to pay, but the woman and cashier was still talking (the customer) was standing in front of debit machine. I asked her if she wanted to pay for my items. if not please step away so I could use the machine. She took one step to the left, I swiped my card, put in my pin,and waited, waited, waited then broke into all the talking and laughing and asked the cashier to please press the debit key. I did not get the cashiers name (no name tag)and to top it all off, there was so many cars parked into the fire lane the the medic truck had to double park to get into the next store.

Poor doesn't even begin to describe it. My cashier was so incredibly rude to me I now have a migraine because my blood pressure went through the roof! As soon as she saw my coupons she became snippy at me. We had a disagreement about the order my coupons should be scanned and when I asked why she just repeated herself. When I ask a question I expect to be answered. I expect it of my 6 year old and I expect it in customer service. Then she did not bother to tell me my total, went on to the next customer while I was still standing at the counter with my children, and did not even put my bag where I could take it. I had to turn the turntable myself while she continued to look the other direction. I have worked in customer service and this is NOT it! I had customers cursing me out and calling me names but my job was customer service and that does not mean being blatantly rude to ANY customer. Plus this store is ALWAYS cluttered. Every time I go in there there are stacks and stacks of boxes blocking the aisles. As irritating as that is the customer service is simply atrocious! This store is in Minonk, Illinois.

I have been with the company now for a little over two years! I work with some nice people! I just walked out on them today! I think the manger is very rude to not only the workers but also the customers! He as a very poor attitude!

I WAS IN YOUR STORE LOCATED ON PENNSYLVANIA AVE IN BALTIMORE MARYLAND 21217-3115 STORE NO. 11953 ON MAY 05,2011 I HAD SPEND $53.OO AND HAVE NOT RECIEVED ALL MY PRODUCT I CALLED AND WENT BACK TO THE STORE TO LET A FEMALE MANAGERS KNOW THAT I WORKED TWO JOBS I SOMETIMES CANNOT GET BACK TO THE STORE IN TIME, SO WHEN I WENT TO TALK TO THE MANAGER FEMALE SHE TOLD ME TO CALLED THE OTHER STORE MANAGER JOE I LEFT A MESSAGE FOR HIM NOT YET HAVE I RECIEVED MY MISSING ITEMS THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN TO ME, I TOLD THE FEMALE MANAGER TO CHECK THE CAMERA I HAD MY SLIP THIS STORE HAVE differant managers this time, but what i think the cashier dont check to make sure i get all my bags cause they have this rolled around cart that turn with the bags attach to them and i think she gave my bags to another customer so im still waiting for the manager joe to called me i will write to the corporate office

My experience at Cuba, MO store #1201 was not very pleasant. The manager on duty named Tammy was rude to the cashier and customers, I asked her where something was and she pointed in the direction. She did not smile nor was she friendly. I would like for something to be done about her attitude. I was not the only customer in line complaining about her. There was a long line and the cashier called for her to open her register and she smarted off and said you needed me for 2 customers...When there was clearly atleast 4 people in the line. Everytime I have been in the store she has never been pleasant and I just don't think it is good for the company, having not only a worker but a manager to be so rude. So if something could be done about this I would really appreciate it and I'm sure I'm not the only customer who agrees with me. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
