I tried this before but don't know if it through I have shopped in your store in tampa,fl for many years until very recently I was in your store and the manager and another employee I think her name tag said mrs austin or something to that effect any way these two were out of control the manager and this big girl physically attacked a man because they thought he had stolen something the girl locked the door putting myself and my child in danger if this man had a weapon the girl starts laughing and using profanity I ran out of the store as quikly as possible I have been in the store when the asst manager Debbie has caught people stealing and was very proffesional and handled the matter well and not put any one in danger I think that something needs to be done about this situation before someone gets hurt the store number is 7988 thank you
I shop at dollar general all the time. They obviously don't care about there regulars and believe me when I am treated badly I look for other places to go to! justicelovefaith@hotmail.com if any managers want to reconcile!... Uh I like dollar general. To me it's like a baby walmart. It's close to us so I try to shop there since the prices are pretty cheap! Recently I went there and a man did say hi, even though he was walking by me and did not look at me...The worst part is the lady who checked us out went outside to smoke a cigarette and when I went to return the carts i tried to pull apart these 2 carts that always get stuck (not my fault, was stuck before I got there). I previously unstuck the carts months before. So I go to help them out because I am thinking of customers because they were like the 2 best carts (go figure). Then the employee outside like screams and at me and is so rude. She says "leave them alone, we'll get someone to take care of it." but not nice at all. Like acting like i am the one who stuck them together or I was grafitting the wall or something. Nowadays its ashame because you try to do a good deed or be nice and people yell at you for it! I just expect a little bit better behavior from employees!
Dollar General cares nothing about employees we nerver have enough help,its hard to be cashier,stocker,parking lot cleaner,and watch for people taking things,we don't get breaks and we get yeld at by customers about the signs starting at,our safety doesn't matter we get robbed they also trap you in management I have been trying to step down for 7months and now that I am they tell me I have to be part time.I've been there for them and they crap on me,it's been 3 months and I still haven't been paid for travel pay,I broke my arm at work they didn't even send me to a doctor they didn't do a report until I went to my doctor and they made me work the day I broke it and the doctor told me to not work and they ingnored that to I stayed in management because of the assistance has had surgery and been out and now they crap on me,people don't understand why we are not in a good mood we deal with drunks,attitude people,and try cleaning after 500 or more people by yourself ,and put up with a company that don't care about you,see how glory you would be and there is not a bunch of jobs to go too. Very unhappy employee
Your hiring and firing practices do not hold up to the law. You need to get more qualified managers. Not just someone that you pick up off the street. I was hired and fired after not quite 3 days. The mananger just said that I was not working out. I have held jobs over my career but just wanted a little something closer to home and the DG store was very close to my home. The manager was very rude. I went to the bathroom on the third day, which was the night shift to stock shelves, and she was waiting for me when I came out and said that I was not working out and called me the next day and fired me. I believe that she is a friend of someone that does not like me and wanted me to get me fired. And they were in cohoots together on this. Who in the world can not stock shelves? I am very able bodied and I am a very qualified person do most anything. l am very computer oriented. Was the vice-president of a bank at one time. Now you tell me that I can not stock shelves. Something in wrong somewhere. The first about 6 hours that I worked.. I worked the register and had 160 customers and the manager at that time told me that that waa real good. Only a few cents out of balance at the end of rhe shift. This manager needs to be fired and I am going to see that this happens. I have a close relative who is in the corporate offce and I will be gettting in touch there. And letting someone know what has happened. I am complaining about your Locust Grove, Georgia Store. I came in and purchased items totaling $10.98. I gave the cashier a $20.00 bill and I did not pay attention when I got my change back she gave me $4.00 back. The way the receipt is cut you cannot get a total of what I bought it just has three items on it. Her name is Crystal. When I called the store the lady said that she was the manager on duty and I explained to her the situation and she stated that I do not think that she meant to short change you and she said that the manager last night that his drawer was short $5.00. I think that she was unprofessional and I will not rush the next time and count your change.
I Worked For Dollar General Store #650 in 2009, I Was Terminated By The New District Manager,Because I Wanted to Change Stores, Honestly. Im a Young Christian And They Pertrade me as If I Was a Theif And It's Been Hard Trying to Find a Job Every Since, They Blocked My unemployment And When I Called to Try and Get Re-Hired At a Diffrent Store,They Told Me I Was Put Down a A NON-Rehire. The Manager That Worked Before Me Didnt add The Extra 100 Dollars In The petty Cash, And When I said Something about it The Head Manager Said I'll Handel It!!! And She Got Me Fired And With me Being 19 i Didnt Know What to really Do It Was my First Job, But Comming To Find Out The Store Cash Was 175.63 Dollars Over For That Week. SMH
Glen, There are literally millions of people out of work in America today. I understand the job sucks, but it IS a job and you have a responsibility to do it correctly and to the best of your ability. If your ability doesn't extend to offering adequate customer service, there are people lined up behind you to get the job...
Wow, some people just like to complain! I love DG, and have three within a mile or so of my house. I always shop DG before WalMart, then only if DG does not have what I need. People you are going to pick up cleaning solutions and vitamins, not to be pals with a store employee! geeesh! My question is why don't the employees confront shop lifters? I have seen them walk right out the doors, several times! They are why the prices keep rising!!!
I shop at the port Henry NY dollar general and the service is usually decent. One thing that does bother me is literally every time I go there I have to walk through cigarette smoke from employees. Breaks there appear frequent and employees are allowed to smoke directly in front of the building next to the main entrance. The evidence is scattered all over the sidewalk and parking lot even though there is a butt station right next to it. I am not directly opposed to smoking, but do believe we all need to be respectful to others.
I really wish you guys would read this post!!! Your Dollar general Store in New London Ohio Has the worse Manager I hv ever seen. Her name is Darlene or something like that and she os rude to almost everyone and gets an attitude everytime you ask for an item. The last time i went was today and all she did was mistreat everyone, even the cashiers. I used to go there often becuase the prizes are really good, but now I'll just do without till the weekend and drive 25 minutes to Wall-Mart or Kmart where people are pleasant and nice all the time and the workers are not abused or misstreated at least in front of costumers.
I just left a dollar general store in New Orleans and the line was long so the security guard goes and get the manager to assist customers and her response was she doesn't give a dam about these people. So the customer that heard her said hi ms I don't give a dam about these people and she went off a started cussing I will be writing and calling in a formal complaint they really need to train their store employees on how to deal with the people that's making sure they have a check. thanks
Had horrible shopping/ couponing experience at my local Dollar General in toledo, ohio with manager Shane. Bought 4 containers of Lysol wipes, had 1 manuf. coupon ($1 off 2) & 1 DG store coupon ($1 off 2) for 2 containers and another 1 manuf. coupon ($1 off 2) & DG store coupon ($1 off 2) for the other 2 containers. First off the internet DG store coupons would not scan so Shane the manger was called up. He manually entered 1st DG store coupon but when he tried to manually enter 2nd DG store coupon the register beep & refused to accept the coupon. The manger told me too many coupons were being used for too few items. When I showed him the stacking of the manuf. Coupons with store coupons for the right amount of items, he still refused. I even showed him the corporate policy accepting this procedure which was right in front of us on the counter and he still refused. He as a manger should know the policy& strive for superior customer service & satisfaction! He had the ability as the manger to enter a special code to just issue me the $1 off despite the register not accepting,instead he argued with me about their policy which again was right in front of us both and instead acted like I was wasting his time! Horrible customer service!!! Plan on calling corporate!!!

I'm filing a complaint with dollar general store#9274.I usually do not complain but i thought that this was very important to the consumers to know what happened to me. I shop at this store very often I live so close to the store.I watched it being built and i seen many employees come and go also management changes as well.on 8/23/11 i entered the store and was approached by clay and he stated you need to take your purse back out to your car. I complied wondering what was up. I grabbed my small change pack. he approached me again while I was shopping and told me a skinny black lady came in earlier with a large purse and left the store with it full. I do not have a large purse and what does this story have to do with me? my purse is medium and open most of the time anyway. he also said we have to enforce this to everyone but he had not and left the store. then I went to check out and I only had a little change pack and no wallet or coupons nor my shoplist. I had to go out of the store 3 times to finally get checked out. I turned to the ladies in line and I apologized. There were other ladies with much larger purses than mine.I was very disapponted and hurt by this abusive treatment as a reglar customer this was surely not the treatment that I deserved. I feel that I had been discriminated for no reason.I,m disabled and can not carry a large purse and if it gets heavy sometimes do not even bring it into the store if I just needed to get a few items.I,ve never given a reason for clay to treat me in this manner.

Would've given zero stars if I could. At the Centreville, MI store I was treated rudely by a manager when she explained that I couldn't return a bra. (It's underwear which can't be returned. But, Wal-Mart will take bras back. Weird.) I wish i'd been told bras are nonreturnable before I bought it.
want to know why their employees have a bad attitude? because they work their butt off yet barely can live on what they are paid.i am talking about adults that take these jobs due to econimy etc.they have children,if they are lucky they have to put gas in their car.even though they have a job you will still see them at food pantries.GET THE POINT? LOW PAY PRODUCES LOW MOTIVATION.&THEY GET TIRED OF CUSTOMERS THINKING THEY ARE SHOPPING AT BERGNERS {even bergners employees live in poverty--why}it seems retail stores don'tput a high value on their employees/so they&you get what you pay for..what kind of thong underwear you think you can get for$2.00 when dollar gen.probably pay10 cents a pair.
I shop at the dollar general store #03977 at 12201 NC N Hwy 150 STE 15 WS,NC 27127-9731. I usually spend any where between $80-100 every other week on my cleaning supplies and foods. I do not like the fact that in order to get in the store I have to walk thru the cigarette smoke that the Managers and Workers blow on me as I enter the front door of the store. NO, I am not a smoker and I don't appreciate having to walk thur it, breathe it, and have my clothes smell like it.. It's very upsetting. You would think they would have enough sense to smoke around the back of the store which no one would see, smell, and it would be more professional on them as well as the store. Please let me know how you as a CORP business will handle this.
Since March 5, 2011 the store has become such a mess. The employee's are rude and talk about you, nothing is in it's right place, if you bring an item to the register and the shelf price say's one price they seem to be able to ring it up another price, Seniors go there because they use to get personal service. Now, they are told if you don't like it here go somewhere else. They can't drive to other towns. Product all over the floor and you have to go down and around the isles to get what you want if they have it on the shelf. The District/Regional Managers and Corp office have been told about all this and are not doing anything to take care of or fix the problems. I my self am tired of having to hear people in four different town's complain about these things and nothing being to to correct it.
I am a customer at your hillsborough ave store and can not believe the way the manager conducts himmself he is rude and very nasty I have seen him and another employee a big girl physically attack a man because they thought that he had stolen something the big girl locked the door and was very rude as well and started using profanities in front of my child a horrible visit to this store.
