I was in Adrian Missouri Dollar Store to have to deal with Ken a key holder who is always dirty and VERY RUDE. He spend a lot of time outside or just standing around doing next to nothing, I stand at check out and wait and wait and wait because you don't dare ask him do his job check you out because he will give you a ear full of rude comments he has even yelled at me Im not only one he has done this to. To complain to manager Kathy is a waist she will talk to him really how many talks does he need talked to. So it is a TOTAL waist of time to put in a complaint on him to Kathy nothing is getting done. So I am here to try get something done about him or Get a new Manger who can fix issues.

I hope all the Dollar Generals are not like the one in Ila, Georgia. However, reading some of these remarks - I'm beginning to wonder. The Manager at the Ila, GA location is extremely rude and needs to be FIRED!!! With an attitude such as this, you should not work in a public position where Customer Service should come with a smile and at least a moderate amount of kindness!!!!!!!!

Your store in mcleansboro Illinois needs shut down! The lady working there named Beth needs fired! She is just not a good person. I overheard her speaking to an employee in the office and expected this person to know how to run the store in 3 days! And That she wasn't being fast enough. Really? Great way to train new people. No wonder people keep quitting. Get someone else because you're gonna lose a lot more than just my business. Small town.........

This is a complaint about Dollar General in Marvell Arkansas. This store used to be so neat and clean. The employees use to be so friendly. Now when you go there , it's cluttered. There's no room to walk down the aisle. The shopping carts are kept OUTSIDE, far from the door. The yellow Dollar General shirts that the employees wear, are dirty. It's like they don't even care to wash them. They play music so loud that, you can't even hear yourself think while you are in the store. You just want to go in there and grab whatever and run out.

The store is always out of items and it takes them days to replenish. The halloween stuff is still not out and displayed properly. They never have enough pet foods, litter, bread, small items, bleach, and all things people need daily. Not sure if there is enough hired help or if it is a management problem or a problem with truck delivery but we are buying you just don't have enough products for this city of webster , florida. Just make this an official complaint as I speak in behalf of all webster residents; who have the same complaints which I hear from them. Sometimes it takes almost a week before you will find these items stocked. Not sure if it's the management or the ordering system but someone needs to look into this.

Our Dollar General in Sedan was great at first, but now there doesn't seem to be anyone around when its time to check out. The manager can be up front an see you at the checkout but won't come over and check you out. She will call someone from the back to check while she stands around talking on her cell phone. And you have to wait for that person to stop what they're doing an come up front. The customer service just doesn't exist there anymore. People come there for cheap prices and fast service. But most will go someplace else and pay more for better service. I know we will. All I can say it what a disappointment. I know you make a lot of money on your store in Sedan. But why not get better service and make more!!!!!!

I worked at a DG store (#8156) down the road (Fort Gratiot, MI)for almost 5 years. All of us went out of our way for the customers, doing our very best to keep them not only happy shoppers, but smiling as they left, as well. I worked very hard to keep 'my girls' in line, did everything to make sure they were happy-happy workers create happy (& returning!) customers. We all made customers smile & laugh, stopped & spoke with them as often as we could, knew their families, problems, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. We loved 'our people'. Due to an injury while at work last year, I was forced to leave my store, but took comfort in the fact I would be greeted warmly when I shopped there, as I had been doing so for those years. I was extremely hurt when, 3 months after I left, I was greeted with NO smiles by the general manager, Rhonda Dougan (who was also my friend before & during my employment at DG); I was, in fact, dismissed by her as if I was nothing. I hear her speaking kindly to customers, but when I get up to her counter, she slams my items in the bag, doesn't say ONE WORD to me, turns her back to me whie I'm getting my money out, and shoves my receipt in my hands. I am not only shocked by her behavior, but stunned that the entire crew I had worked with had quit & there are all new people there. Strange that this happened in the short time I was gone, but I tried to let it slide. I try not to go in that store when shes' there, because I don't want to be treated like garbage, but sometimes it is necissary-and she never fails being rude to me. I have had other customers tell me in the store that I should leave because she doesn't want me there & has spoken ill of me to anyone who will listen, in and out of the store. She will not even speak to my children when they go in and ask her questions, trying to locate an item they wish to buy. She snubs all of my family, and has sworn at people who ask about me. I'm past the hurt now-I'm more disgusted that she has created such a bad atmosphere in the store. I will not be shopping here anymore, or at ANY DG; the store/company I once was so very proud to work for has become nothing more than a VILE shopping experience to most people who walk in. I am ashamed that I spent so much time & effort trying to make DG the best place for our customers. I used to be shocked when I read nasty reviews about DG & could never understand why. Now I do. When an ex-employee gets treated like dirt as a customer, why wouldn't anyone else?!! I do feel I need to address an issue I have read often in these reviews; Dollar General FORCES their cashiers to stock & clean EVERY SECOND they are on the clock. They do NOT allow cashiers to 'waste time' standing at the counter waiting for customers. They do not allow payroll hours to hire more people to work in the store, so everything falls on the cashiers to get done. EXTREMELY hard to wait on people in the front of the store when your manager insists on writing you up when your required stocking/cleaning isn't completed. I understand why the cashiers would have bad attitudes-not that it's an excuse, I simply understand it from the inside. Dollar General makes its profits by preying on those not fortunate enough to have a college degree and works them so hard they want to drop. I worked there for almost 5 years-and after the first 8 months, I rarely pulled less than 55 hours a week & never ONCE got piad for overtime. I did it for the betterment of the store & to lessen the load on 'my girls'; if I had opened my eyes sooner, I surely would have complained to anyone that would hear me about the unfair work hours, the impossibly harsh workload forced upon everyone in the store & the extreme lack of payroll hours allotted to the managers for a proper crew. I have since began shopping at a local Family Dollar. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the store is cleaner and the employees must be treated better, because they are always smiling.

There are several Dollar General Stores in my area. Two are withing 2 miles of my office and within 5 miles of my home. I do use your stores because of bargains and pricing but there are other low cost stores I could use. I use them because you sponsor Sarah Fisher Racing. I wanted to congratulate your company on their fantastic win in Kentucky this weekend. As an average American I tend to pull for the underdog and I know that Sarah Fisher and Ed Carpenter are not the biggest players in Indy Car. So when they win, it's like all "regular people" win too. I would encourage you to continue to support Sarah Fisher Racing and to increase your commitment if possible. They represent the millions of people in America who are trying to make ends meet on a budget. And they just beat the biggest players in the game. Nobody gets too excited when the guy who is supposed to win does. But when the underdog wins, we all win. Congratulations to you and to Sarah Fisher Racing. Lew "Dawg" Cloninger, Plantation, Florida

The Dollar General Store in Seminary, MS. is in a very convenient location for me; however, I usually travel 5 miles to the Dollar General in Collins namely because you can actually get down the ailes there. The store in Seminary always have carts full of stock blocking most of the ailes in the store, and it does not matter what day of the week or what time of day, stock carts are blocking many of the ailes. I don't know if they just do not put stock up, of if they get it put up in time for the next load, or what, but the Dollar General Store in Seminary is one of the most junked up stores I have ever been in.

I visited a Dollar General store in Harolson, GA the other day and there was an employee there named Rose. She was the sweetest person with the best customer service I have experienced in a very long time. She helped me find what I was looking for and also a few extra things that were on sale.

I have had trouble shopping at one particular store.. they love to cheat there shoppers out of there money in theodore Al. at store #05709 5808 hwy 90w . so beware of this and look out for people that park in the firelane its not safe. parking violations are not inforced. got the pics to prove it! in the future go someplace else. after being cheated at least 10 times.. and only justified mabe four times! its just not worth it>> however ive had good experiences at all the other stores execpt this one. wish they would just fix the problems there!

dollar general store 05709 in theodore AL. has persistantly over charged me on sale items. that are apparently false advertisement and repeatedly skimming from there customers. ive had to report this many times. its been an ongoing problem.and now they feel harrassed by me wanting the advertized price on items bought.i feel ripped off and they feel harrassed. is there a solutionn for this problem? any ideas send suggestion to frankbranum@mediacombb.net

Your Dollar General store in Altus, AR is becoming a joke in this area. The new manager has run off or fired all the descent workers there and now there are nothing but crack heads. I guess she just wanted the workers there that would smoke dope with her. You really need to do drug testing because i will never let my family go back in that nasty store. Keep up the good work and it will turn out to be a hangout for drug heads.

I have been in the Alpine, Texas store 4 times in the last 4 weeks attempting to purchase Purina Kitten Chow. The shelf is constantly empty. Last night around 8:30pm, I went in again. Again the shelf was empty. I asked an employ (no name tag) to check in the back which he did. I went with the employee to check. There were metal carriers in the back with merchandise in them containing different pet foods. The employee stated that he couldn't find the product I was looking for, but, he didn't pull the carriers out out to check them. He advised me that the merchandise might be out on the shelves in a couple of days when someone got around to it, but he couldn't tell me when. This has become the norm in this store. Trucks deliver the merchandise and their are not enough employees to stock shelves. Merchandise sits in the back. If it's not on a shelf, it can't be sold. I called the next closest store in Marfa, Texas and inquired about the same product. I was told that this store had approx 12 to 14 bags on the shelf. Now, it's 24 miles one-way to this store (that's 28 miles round trip and 2 gallons of gas). I can go to the local grocery store and buy the same product cheaper than making the trip. WHY CAN'T THIS STORE KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND? PLEASE GET NEW MANAGEMENT IN THE ALPINE, TEXAS STORE... It's becoming useless to walk into this store. Shelves are always empty while the merchandise sits in the back. The MArfa, Texas store also has a better variety of products to purchase, WHY?

As a former Store Mgr., I can tell you that Dollar General does pay little to it's employees. Managers are required to work (6) days a week,(50) hours a week. Corporate gives you a limited number of hours to run your store, that's why no one is ever up front, they have to stock and do all the other work in the store without employees. I couldn't have any help in the store until after 12:00noon and still make payroll. I ran a very clean, friendly and profitable store. I improved all the numbers and worked very hard for the 2 1/2 years I was there before finding another position. To reward me for all of my efforts, Dollar General kept $3,000 of bonuses that I had earned from inventory and the 2nd period, because I left the company 2 weeks after the period and inventory and wasn't employeed when they actually mailed out the bonuses. Even though I did the work, earned the money and was there to make them money, they care enough to use a loop hole in their system to keep the money that I earned. WOW, thanks Dollar General!!!

Very poor ran store. I live in sevierville, tn and attend the dollar general (by belk) almost daily since its a block from my house. A new employee (autumn) and some of its staff is very friendly but very helpful. The two assistant managers (shrry, sharron I believe) are very horrible. Every time they are in the store I. Leave very angry. My most recent visit I went sherrie had put a ciggratte out and went back in, I watched her grab a stick of gum walk outside and chewed it wwithout paying for it than lit another ciggarette. The store had only been open for just a little bit and I noticed one of the employees was having trouble dealing with customers, running cashier, and stovk. When noticed manager go in she decided to yell at her employees causing her to tear up. The girl employee wasn't allowed to go to bathroom to calm down and dealt with the mess while manager argued prices with another customer. As I was leaving I could hear girl ask for a smoke break and the manager who just smoked 2 told her shed have to wait till she got a break. When I returned later the next day the female employee (autumn) was there I asked her about the other day to get info on manager I saw stealing and mentioned it isn't right that she can smoke and her employee can't she mentioned she can only have a drink, use restroom, or smoke when she goes on break I asked her how long her break is and she said she's only had 3 or 4 the entire time she has worked there which might be about two weeks. I've heard horror stories about this store from my employees who have worked there before (kelsie and tonya) and both claim the same thing. If this problem isn't resolved the four and maybe five have agreed to contact the labor board. Hope this is corrected, no one deserves this kinda treatment no matter how bad they need a job. Ps- one employees (kelsie) claimed she quit after urinating herself because she wasn't allowed to 'leave the register' nor have permission too even when asking a manager.

Dollar General on Summer ave. Memphis,Tn. Since when has any business closed for a week just to do maintenance. You must be remodeling the entire store.Other than that the store manager and employees are great.I have noticed a lot of any shelves though. I'm sure Dollar General pays their domestic help as little as possible and no benefits that's probably why the turn over is so high. Looks like Mr.Jones will spend his money elsewhere. Thank You

I bought a vitamin supliment at the Dollar General Store and it made me sick. I tried to call someone at Dollar General and was given the run around by every number. Dollar General's customer relations service call center 800-678-9258 is located in the Philippines. Do I want to speak to someone at a call center in the Philippines? The corporate office will claim they do not know who to call. I asked to speak to the buyer of the Health and Beauty Aids and the switchboard operator refused. Finally I asked to speak with Media Relations and was transferred to the voice mail of Joanne Spivey. All I can tell you is DO NOT BUY VITAMINS, SUPPLIMENTS OR ANY HEALTH AND BEAUTY AIDS PRODUCTS.

I am an employee at the Saxton, Pa Dollar General Store. We are going through conflict that i'm sure every store see's, Our manager is a bitch, plain out! She screams at the employee's so that everyone in the store can hear everything that is going on, she also spreads rumors and gossips about other employee's to one specific employee, she doesn't clock in or out and comes in when she feels like it, she manipulates the schedule to what she wants, and she doesn't lift a finger during the time she is there, she sits in the back and does crossword puzzles and eats food that she neglects to pay for. When we tell our district manager of these things, he says that its impossible for this to be going on and dismiss the problems all together. I have been dealing with these problems, on top of that, she show's her employees no appreciation, and nit picks everything thing that they don't do. ALL of the employees, except for the one that is royally shoved up the managers ass, is ready to walk out! I advise anyone who comes to the saxton area, do not stop at this dollar store.

I shop at the store in Gordo,Al. We are a very small town and Dollar General is the only store of it's kind. The service is always poor, but what choice do we have. Today 9-24-2011 I stopped in the store for 3 items. At checkout there was 11 customers in line. One lady had 2 grocery baskets full. There were 4 employees on duty. One was the cashier and the other 3 were putting up stock. It took me 18 minutes to get checked out. everyone waiting in line was complaining including me. When I went to use my debit card the terminal was so loose that it almost fell off the counter. The transaction did not go through. I asked the cashier what the problem was, Her reply was sir, you don't know what you are doing. After 3 more attempts it went through, with no help from the cashier. From now on I,ll stock up more at Wal-Mart to keep from going to Dollar General or drive 5 miles to Freds. Enough is Enough.
