Hello! This is to inform you for sanitation and safety changes imediately at your Mohave Valle,Az. Dollar General Store,Bathrooms need regular upkeep, cleaning, filthy mops and buckets should be in a back room, and soap, paper towel and toilet paper should always be available. The Women's bathroom, they cannot find the key,and direct evryone to the men's bathroom, which you cannot lock, use at your own risk,it is filthy,no soap, paper towel. It's time to care about the customer safety as well as bacteria spread everywhere.Where do they wash there hands? Are they using soap?We are worthy of a clean bathroom, with supplies in the Mohave Desert, time to clean it up!

In regard to your North Syracuse, N.Y. store. I shop there twice a week, it's always clean and employees are great. However the shopping and working conditions are awful. It was 10 degrees outside. The store was so cold that myself and another shopper left. The employees were freezing, but appear to be used to such poor working conditions. The idea is for the customer to browse and pick more items, not to rush in and rush out to get in their warm car. It might be in your best interest to crank up the heat. Not to mention how do they count their money when their hands must freezing?

I've been reading the posts on this page & I'm saddened by all the complaints, negative comments, & foul language. I'm sorry that so many people have had bad shopping experiences in these locations. I live in Poplar Bluff Mo, we have 3 Dollar General stores & I shop in all of them. Maybe it's just our small town, but I have never been treated with anything but respect in these stores. The stores are clean & as neat as possible since they are so small. The one on Cheshire Blvd always seems to be the one that is a bit messier, however, they do so much business that it keeps the employees busy just taking care of the customers that some other things may have to wait a bit. This store also has the fewest employees, but even when they are swamped, you can get help. Poor little Miranda just took over as manager & she's doing her best but I know it's hard because the last manager left it in such a mess. I spent 6 years selling insurance all over MO & IL & when I needed something, Dollar General stores & their employees were the best. Please remember to always treat people the way you want to be treated even if they sometimes forget.

To Dollar General Corporate Office, My name is Dustin Forrester. I used to work with your corporation in Sikeston, Missouri for two and a half years between April 2005 and September 2007. During my employment, I was awarded a gift card from the district manager once for most suggestive sales, as well as offered promotions twice, which I turned down due to college responsibilities. I was a hard worker and valued by most of the 6-8 managers that came and went while I was employed. A few managers I worked with were Sue Williams, Shiela Hornback (Assistant Manager), and Teddy Sisk. I was the longest employee at my store when I quit and was one of the most valued employees having worked with over 40 employees over my years, and helping to train new employees. I recently graduated from college, and began looking for a new job. With my experience at Dollar General, I felt this was a good place to start when hearing about a recent job fair. Today (1/20/12) I was called in for a second interview at the Dollar General store on 917 S. Kingshighway St. in Sikeston, MO. The manager was ready to hire me, but then I was told of a new personality test which I needed to complete. I took the test and apparently did not qualify to work for this company. I do not see how I have almost 3 years’ experience with this company, and a college degree, yet I am now not qualified enough to work for this company. I find many flaws in using this “personality test” to determine if a candidate-for-hire will make a good employee and I highly suggest that this corporation reevaluate the usefulness of such a flimsy screening process. Thank you for allowing me to voice my concerns. Sincerely, Dustin Lynn Forrester

I am so disgusted by the treatment that was shown to me by an employee of Dollar General store in Mountain City,Tn. I had called the store before closing time and asked for a certain item, I was told that they had a variety of the items that I had inquired about. I told the clerk that I would be there to purchase one of the items. I was only three minutes away from the store. When I arrived at the store it was at least 1o minutes before closing time. When I got to the door and pulled the door to open it was locked and an employee was stooped behind the cash register and was laughing. This disgusted me so badly. Unless I have a change of heart that is the last time I will ever go to that store.

I shop at dollar general with usual satifaction. The employees are helpful, however I am very disappointed some sale items are not available thru the sale dates.

Live in Abingdon, VA, and your new store is very nice, however, it is very messy outside. Someone needs to pick up the trash that has blown from your store all over the neighborhood, the rest of us keep our trash up and dont' appreciate your dumpster being left open. I have picked up several bags of trash from my yard that came from your business. I dont' plan on continuing this practice. If you do not take care of it in a professional timely matter, I will be calling someone in our county that oversees this kind of problem. You need to be a good neighbor!!!!!!

I would have given the DT in Brantley a 5 but there is one thing missing. I cannot walk for more then 10 minutes. I was born with birth defects and they have no wheelchairs for people who can't get around. DG is about 5mins away but I have to drive 15 to 35 mins to do my shopping. I have to say that the people at the DG in Brantley Al is aways nice and helpful. I just wish DG would have wheelchairs.

I am 7 months pregnant and I was a manager, this past week my DM has decided that I am no longer needed to be a manager in the store and has dropped me down to a part time cashier in a store that's an hour away maybe working 15 hrs. I was due to take my medical leave in a month but now I'm not going to be able to since I am about to take a very big pay cut. I haven't been given any papers to sign explaing why I'm being moved out as manager but in two days there is a new manager coming in to take my place. I don't feel like i have been treated fairly with this but I am going to push the issue untill I get some answers.

i have read over 20 comments about dollar general and not one of them was positive. and you all are so right about it all. they really do suck as a company and as long as coporate is making money sittin on their lazy no good for nothing asses it will continue. everyone should boy cott dollar general for at least one day and see where their money will come from then.

Just one more complaint.. On January 15, my friend and I visited the Dollar General Store in North Versailles,Pa.. I just have to ask, why is a box of salt 2.00$? I am so discusted with the huge price increase in the majority of your products. Do you really think you will stay in buisness at this rate?

I SEE A LOT OF NEGATIVITY ON THIS PAGE. I HAVE SOMETHING GOOD TO SAY. I VISITED THE DOLLAR GENERAL STORE IN POPLAR BLUFF, MISSOURI WITH A PROBLEM. I LOADED MONEY ON MY PHONE CARD AND IT DIDN'T PROCESS. AS I WENT BACK TO THE STORE THE STORE MANAGER, ROSE CARTER, I BELIEVE HER NAME IS HAD TO CALL AND VERIFY I PURCHASED THE MONEY ON MY PHONE AND HAVE THEM PUT IT ON THERE AS IT WASN'T ADDED LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. THIS KIND LADY GOT OFF WORK AT 12:30 AND SHE STAYED ON THE PHONE WITH THESE PPL FOR HOURS. WELL I LEFT THE STORE AT 3:00 P.M. AFTER SHE HAD CONCURED THE TASK. SHE SPENT THESE HOURS OFF WORK TO HELP ME RITE THIS WRONG. ALL I CAN SAY IS IT TAKES A VERY SPECIAL KIND OF PERSON TO SPEND HER OFF WORK TIME TO HELP A CUSTOMER AND NOT STOP TILL SHE GOT IT ACCOMPLISHED. I JUST WANNA SAY, "THANK YOU ROSE CARTER OF POPLAR BLUFF, MISSOURI. THERE SHOULD BE A MANAGER LIKE YOU IN EVERY STORE." I WILL DEFINATELY CONTINUE SHOPPING AT THE DOLLAR GENERAL STORE ON HWY 53, IN POPLAR BLUFF, MISSOURI THANKS TO ROSE CARTER.

I went in a Dollar General this morning at 10:45, there were 2 elderly people in line ahead of me. The elderly man was paying for his purchase and was having trouble using seeing the screen on the debit machine as I was looking for my items, I heard the cashier say to him very rudely, "it's waiting on you." He said "I'm sorry, i"m having trouble seeing it. The cashier then stomps over to the other side of the counter and pushes yes on the machine she then said to him, "do you see yes" on the screen !!!!!!! He then continue to try to see the screen and stomped over again and pushed the button and said " oh my goodness", I was in line by this time watching what was going on and I said to the cashier, "mame, please don't treat him like that and she said, I'm having a really BAD day ok!!! I said well maybe you should go outside and cool off for a moment she told me, "I need to mind my own business, she then threatened me, and told me we can go outside and take care of this. all the time this was going on her manager was standing there saying nothing.I later called the manger and she said she was going to speak to her later. I notified the manager that I was calling their general manager.

Smyrna Delawares stores belt on the register for a year now has been broken which is a shame, not only that but on weeknights there is only two employees in the store and the lines get too long for the one cashier to handle. Many people just sit there stuff down and walk out. Customer service is good but there needs to be more help to make the store better for people to get in and get out.

Dollar general is cheap! If u can't afford them go to the $ store, they have better customer service anyways probably because they work like slaVes and are always getting chewed out by the district managers that are never there and don't really see what is going on,so if u get an employee with a bad attitude that's why, I worked for DG and it sucked I was getting my diploma at that time ,they do not offer diplomas to employees or help to get one either!were does that donation $ go for real?!The District managers need attitude adjustments and the people who should be getting paid more should be the people who actually do the work!DG doesn't care about how ward you work for them either!forget about the safety of the employees there is none!stores are always getting robed but there is no real security in the store, they expect u to help them catch the thief s but they don't offer counseling when u r emotionally terrified because of their lack of security because they r selfish greedy...! Make sure u get out side insurance because they have poorly maid stores and buildings and materials!u guys need to get on top of your stuff and remember who makes the $ for u! Treat your employees right and they will treat u right!

1/13/12 Lebanon, TN. Dollar Store - On the "clearance" isle I found a straw hat I had been looking for that I wanted for an art project. It was marked the original cost, I asked the girl at the check out what the price was she scanned the hat & called the manager. I heard her say it was ringing up 1 cent. She turned to me & said "I can't sell it to you". I asked why, she did not really have a good answer so I told the mgr I wanted to know if this was out in the store to purchase why could I not do so. He said "it was written off" & could not sell it to me. (WHAT THE #@*! WAS IT DOING OUT THERE TO SELL THEN?)They refused to sell it to me at all!! NEVER SAID I'M SORRY, KISS MY FOOT OR NOTHING! I told them that was the most stupid thing I have ever heard! When I found it,it was on the floor to sell. How does a customer know it had been written off? !! Bad customer service Dollar General, better find you a new manager for this store!! Not concerned at all that a mistake had been made, customer was unhappy!! They did lay it beside the register, maybe to just trash a perfectly good hat I was willing to purchase!! I understand "business" but hey this was your error, not mine!

My husband and I visited Dollar General in Kiel, Wisconsin, today. I tripped on a defective wooden door that would not stay closed on the front/bottom of the greeting card display. The woman next to me said she had also tripped over it upon her arrival. My husband came over to the display and HE tripped over it. In an effort to avoid having anyone harmed by what obviously needed fixing, the three of us politely told the manager, Terry, so that he could fix the problem. He said there was nothing he could do about it, because the display belongs to the American Greetings Company. I asked if the AGC would be the ones who would be held responsible if someone fell and broke a hip. It just seemed like common sense that after being told that 3 people in 5 minutes had tripped over it, he would have been concerned for the welfare of his customers. I suggested using some kind of strong tape and my husband suggested going to the local hardware store to get a latch to repair it, but Terry said he had already notified AGC and there was nothing more he could do. Considering Dollar General's motto (serving others and respecting the dignity of others)I felt the manager demonstrated a lack of integrity and concern for the safety of his customers. I do not plan to shop there, if safety is not the first priority for Dollar General's customers.

i work for a dg store and i am so sick of my hours getting cut i am a single mother of two i cant afford to work only 25 hours a week my check was only $100 this week how the hell am i going to support two kids on $100 dollars a week. i know u ppl in corp. dont care because your still makin money so u dont give a shit. oh by the way YOUR INSURANCE SUCKS!!!!!

People: DO NOT GO TO DOLLAR GENERAL AND PURCHASE ANY GIFT CARDS OR VISA DEBIT CARDS. I PURCHASED A DOLLAR GENERAL VISA DEBIT CARD FOR $100 PLUS THE $5.95 FEE FOR MY SON FOR CHRISTMAS. HE ACTIVATED THE CARD. HE HAS TRIED TO USE IT 2 TIMES AND IT DOES NOT WORK! I STILL HAVE THE RECEIPT. HE WENT TO RETURN IT TO THE STORE (GERMANTOWN DOLLAR GENERAL) AND WAS TOLD THE CARD # DOES NOT MATCH THE NUM...BER SCANNED ON THE RECEIPT. I HAD TO CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE #, WHICH I DID AND WAS THEN TOLD I HAD THE WRONG NUMBER AND GIVEN ANOTHER NUMBER TO CALL. AFTER CALLING ELEVEN, YES ELEVEN, TIMES TODAY, AND GETTING NOTHING BUT TRANSFERRED TO VOICEMAILS, I FINALLY GOT A WOMAN NAMED CRYSTAL WHO PUT ME ON HOLD AFTERI EXPLAINED THE SITUATION (THE NUMBER NOT MATCHING) AND CALLED THE GERMANTOWN STORE, I WAS THEN TOLD I COULD RETURN IT, THE MANAGER THERE (GRETCHEN) KNEW WHAT TO DO. I WENT THERE TO RETURN IT AND SINCE THE NUMBER DO NOT MATCH THEY CANNOT VERIFY THE CARD (EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS DOLLAR GENERAL ON THE CARD) AND CANNOT RETURN MY MONEY. THIS IS NOTHING BUT BS. NOTHING BUT A HASSLE. I WAS TOLD THE DISTRICT MANAGER WILL CALL ME WITHIN 48 HOURS, (MY TROUBLE FROM YESTERDAY DOESNT COUNT) TO TALK TO ME. I HAVE ALSO LOGGED TWO COMPLAINTS WITH DOLLAR GENERAL AND WILL CONTINUE TO TELL EVERYBODY I KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE. (AND I TOLD DOLLAR GENERAL THIS ALSO) I WILL NOT BE PATRONIZING ANY DOLLAR GENERAL STORE AGAIN IF THEY DO NOT REFUND MY MONEY IN FULL.
