Someone needs to do something about the manager and one of the cashers at the Mars Hill N.C. store..They are always under oneanther and when she is not there he is on the phone with her. She also does anything she wants to do..She dont do any work at all..Im sick of coming in there and looking at it and when they are not on the sales floor they or in the office talking and laughing so loud you can hear them in the store. I thought at a manager could not have a relationship with someone that works for them..

Is there a rule that Dollar General stores can only have one register open at a time? I have visited several stores in Henderson Co. NC and the lines can be running down two aisles and only one register is open. The managers and assitant mgrs. act as if they are above running a register. I have seen more people just throw their stuff down and walk out! I am one of those people. Just because you sale cheap stuff does not make you exempt from providing good quality service.

I was attacked by a manager and have reported it to a regional manager and as I read these accounts I can see I should not have wasted my time. I will be filing with the Americans with disabilities against this company. Here was the basics on what happened that I sent to the regional manager: I hope this message is reaching someone who can take care of this matter. I went in to the store near my home today where I have shopped since moving here in August, as always with my vested medical alert service dog at my side to be attacked by an employee. I say attacked because I have dealt with many rude or untrained employees regarding my dog in the past and have always been able to calm the situation and educate them in an adult manner before this incident. I have had enough time learning to do this since I was injured in the Pentagon 911 attack search and rescue mission. I use a german shepherd who is well trained, well behaved, and committed no wrong doing in the store. I did not know while there she is actually the manager. I even asked for a manager to which she still had not identified herself nor offered the information. I went into the store with a cart, went to the kitchen supplies and got a cheese grater, I turned into the next aisle over Jennifer appeared at a run to the other end of the aisle and screamed down at me is that a real service dog. I said yes, he is my medical alter dog and I turned him sideways so that she could see his vest patch. She then said anyone can get a vest and that she has to protect her customers from a large vicious breed like mine!! German shepherds have been service dogs since the beginning of the program. I would rather speak in person or phone with you further as I understand this goes to your black berry and I am unsure how long to make this with the rest. I also offered her a website on how to handle asking about service dogs to which she claimed this is how dollar general trains their employees again not identifying herself as a manager. I was so upset I did not get her name and had my son call there when I returned home after getting my groceries next door at the food lion where as usual I had zero issues with having my service dog along in a GROCERY store. Anyhow when my son was speaking to her she then identified herself as manager because he asked for a managers information. I would like to discuss and resolve the matter before taking steps turning it over to the Americans with Disabilities office for them to handle. I do understand people abuse it and I am actually one of the people fighting for stricter laws regarding true service dogs. I tried to speak with this person and she did not wish to hear it. I tried to educate her and help her and her only reply was, she did not have internet access..... I even apologised for saying yes he is a service dog in what she called a rude manner trying to difuse her and get her to discuss rationally, but she refused to act like a manager and leader of her crew in a professional manner. Customers even walked out and she followed me to the front of the store when I left my cart and decided to leave because she was still yelling at me. If my dog were aggressive and ill behaved, he would have at least barked at someone yelling at me would he not? I felt degraded and attacked she did not approch and ask me questions in person rather then yelling it across the store embarrassing me in front of all customers at a busy lunch time crowd. She essentially broke every single federal law regarding service dogs set federally bu the Americans with disabilities act. This incident happened in Durham NC

I am sending a letter to corporate! Do they or don't they take manufacturer coupon and store coupon together!?! Do the cash registers handle both coupons per one product? The cashiers say NO! It's called double couponing!! READ YOUR COUPON POLICY!! GRRRR...everyone needs to let Dollar General know....the Walmart stores down the street are more then happy to take our coupons and our $$$$!!!

The reason for my rating is I have been unemployed for over a year and learned from an employee of DG that they were hiring for Assistant Managers. I take my resume and application in and do the assessment test (which takes 45 minutes of the DUMBEST questions.) The Manager on duty tells me that she will get in contact with the GM. I have been waiting for over two weeks now and come to find out the GM has a problem with my college schooling, internship and church hours. Seriously? Three nights a week for four hours at the most...Please tell me why? Circleville, Ohio Dollar General on Lancaster Pike. The Store Manager stated: "You are the only person qualified so far that has came and applied" So if this is true, what is the big deal on my hours? Companies have to realize we have a life too. I went to Dollar General In Columbus Oh yesterday and bought a loaf of bread. Got it all the way home and realized that it had a hole in it and 3 pieces of the bread had been half eatten by a rat/mouse... EWWW! It even had droppings in it. Since it was freezing outside and I have 2 small children, instead of going back to the store I called them, they said bring it back and they would replace it. I sent my bf just a bit ago to exchange it, he brings the new loaf back... same thing. This time I am heated, blood boiling so I went back. They tried to offer me a new loaf of bread... NO THANK YOU! 3 trips to a store for a loaf of bread is insane! Especially with the price of gas these days! They agreed to refunding my money for the bread after refusing to get bread from there but refused to give me cash back! Instead they put it on a DOLLAR GENERAL gift card so the money HAD TO BE SPENT THERE! What a bunch of bull! I should have the right to chose where I spend my money! And they didn't even say they would look into it or fix the problem or anything! The Health Dept will be called and I believe i may even call a news channel or 2! Get rid of your rodents!

Went to General Dollar just a little bit ago to get dog food. There were maggets all under the flap of the dog food. This is the second time this has happened at the same store. Same manager on duty this evening as before (about a month ago). He told me he couldn't pull the product from the shel because of mass quantity. There were all of 5 bags sitting on the shelf. What a CROCK!!! He also told me he didn't know how to get his manage on the phone, nor did he have a number for the corporate office. CROCK again. I didn't even get out the door and he was on the phone to his manager. He was told to pull the dog food from the shelf. Probably tossed it in the dumpster too. Pictures speak a thousand words. I'm calling th BBB and our Health Dept, as well as the Humane Society.

This is my daughters first real job,she calls me this morning and says the assistant manager shoved her last night.I told her to report it to manager so she says she did and the manager tells her that she (my daughter) will have to take it up with that assistant manager at the up coming store meeting.As a former shop manager i know that if my assistant ever laid a finger on another employee that manager would be fired on the spot.So i just want to know what DG policy is on that. vickeryjoe@gmail.com to respond.

Please check out the manager of dollar general In McLeansboro il,, they need a major replacement! she has got to be the most demeaning non people person that has ever been there,, she taks to everyone about everything personal( that's when she's not on the phone!! I made a complaint and about the DG in Benton, La they need help manager don't know how to get the product on the sales floor in a timely manner. You have to dig in the boxes to get what you need. I refuse to pay my money and then have to work to get stuff out of the boxes. This store is going down and it seems to be because of poor managment.

I refuse to patronize the Dollar General in smithville Tennessee due to the fact that i reported drug abuse to the manager Tami and nothing has been recified to ensure a safe and secure experience. I and all my senior friends shop in the dollar general in Cambridge. N.y. When they opened a short time ago the prices were great. we all (seniors) shopped there as most of us use food stamps and they went further for us at dollar general.Slowly but surely they keep raising raising the prices on all the food. We have decide we will no longer need to shop there as we will get all our groceries from the supermarket.is there a reason for this price hike or is it store policy to slowly raise prices. I am writing this letter on behalf of all the senior citizens who used to shop there on check day.

Poor Management-ship. I visited Dollar General this afternoon and was very disappointed by the manager behavior toward a customer. The customer wanted to know why he was standing there watching her and why the other cashier could not wait on her.And out of the blue he made a statement that the situation is being investigated and he has already fired two employees. Totally uncalled for, instead of him trying to defuse the matter he made it worst. The conversation got heated between them both and he band her from the store, again not professional. He displayed no type of professorial experience at all. The manager name is Larry. He is the manager at the store in Hayneville, Alabama, phone # 1-334-548-8932. There were several customers in line witness the same thing and all were murmuring that he was totally out of order. Three registers one cashier, customer line is for to long. Several customer's do not wait to be served, they put there items down and walk out. I have called the dollar store in hardeeville sc everyday for almost 3 weeks trying to get a hold of the store manager there to get my w2's. Only once have they answered the phone. Portia answered and was very nice, she got the mod and handed her the phone and when she answered she was of no help at all! She told me I had to get a hold of Chantell and go from there because she didnt know anything about w2's. I live in Indiana now, so since they arent answering the phone and I have no other way of contacting them how am I supposed to get my w2's? Its not that hard to answer a phone and tell a former employee what to do to get them. This is stupid!!

I was recently in a Dollar General and the customer's item (boy's wind pants) rang up a penny and the manager told her that if the item rang up "pennied out" then she could not sell it to her. The customer offered to pay full price and the manager said no she could not that it would mess up the inventory. I ask the manager what they would do with the pants and she said they would throw them away. I ask couldn't the customer walk back to the trash outside and get them and she said no that she could lose her job. I find this weird and very wasteful

Went to store in irving,Tx(store #00743)Today, Information on my receipt is: 2023-02-06 13:40:08 00732 02 #8040. I shop there every week and try to avoid this one manager that is always rude to me and others like me. Today I had coupons in my hand and he rushed the register that i was checking out of. (that employee has been at that store at least a year and know the process of her register, couplons and check out im sure). then replies to her in spanish, that in itself is insulting to me. If I understood what he said or didnt is not the issue. what the issue is ... is that he made me feel like i was stealing and had to be watched. all while i was shopping.. and i spent over $66 in that store. when i said something about it. he became his rude smart mouth self, told me if i didnt like his attitude to go shop at another dollar general store. that store #00732 was his and people like me could go somewhere else. All along being rude, mouthy and making fun of me because of my appearance. when i started filming him to show how he was acting, he threatened to call the police and i said please do. (no one ever showed up, I waited over an hour) i have lived in this area over 50 years and have shopped at that store since it was open. now...if you where me... would you EVER shop at a General Dollar Store AGAIN? Or any other General Dollar Store? I think that I wont. Guess Walmart will be getting my $$$ from now on.

I worked as distribution center employee for one and a half years for this company while going to college in the Marion, Indiana DC. Previously I worked for Family Dollar distribution centers in management. When I started I had high expectations from the management that we had had Family Dollar, however I found that the management was sub par and had no clue on how to boost moral. Many of the managers would condescend the employees thinking they were better than all of them because they had a degree. They would ask them to work harder in the back of trailers where it would be 100 degrees while they sat in air condition offices doing "paperwork" all the time. I know there is some paperwork doing the managers job previously for the other company, and I know there are some differences between the two companies, but there is not that much paperwork. The managers at this DC need to get off their buts and help their associates. An associate that feels part of a team as a whole and on the same level as the managers will work harder for those managers. Managers who act high and mighty and better than the grunts in the back of the trailers will get even worse employees who do not care if the job is done right.

I just visited the Dollar General store in New Carlisle Ohio and was extremely disappointed by the service. My son found a ball that he wanted and since it had no price tag on it the cashier said she couldn't sell it! I myself work in retail and have never heard of a retail store not wanting to sell merchandise!!! She didn't bother to call a manager or offer any sort of help! I will be shopping elsewhere in the future.

The Dollar General store on N. Illinois St., Indianapolis, IN just discriminated towards me. When I walked in the store 2 employees were SITTING around the front door and stared at me with "dirty looks" and making gestures towards one another about me. I passed it off and just continued my shopping. When I arrived in the checkout they were STILL just hanging out there and giving me MORE "dirty looks". The female staff member looked at the other male staff member and mouthed the word "WHITE" then they both rolled their eyes and looked at me with DISGUST! Racism goes both ways and WHITE people have the RIGHT to be treated fairly without discrimination. This is our NEIGHBORHOOD'S Dollar General, not just for "black people". This is NOT okay and it's a violation of my civil rights. This is not the 1st time I've been discriminated against at this store, #7735. Everytime I go there the cashier is very friendly and courteous to the black customers then she'd be rude towards me. It is BLATENT DISCRIMINATION and WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. RACISTS!
