I have been going to the local Local Dollar General Store in Plaquemine Louisiana. Everything is being rearranged, I go in there weekly looking for the detergent we use which is Oxydol. It has not been available for the past 4 weeks. I ask but the new people who work in the store now just say we are going through the old stock and putting it up on the shelves. They know absolutely nothing. Looks like there is 4 to 5 people working on rearranging the shelves with very slow progress. Its also very sad that Mrs. Gloria has been let go from this store. She worked there for years. She knew eveybody in town. It was a pleasure to be waited on by her. Just sad. Its a very busy store and there is never enough people checking out the customers.

I have been a DG customer for years and love the good deals I get there. But the customer is the worst in town at the Bloomington Illinois Towanda Ave store. The manager Mary I believe her name is, is rude and nasty towards customers even if they shop there every week. Sharon at the counter never smiles. Till this day they never greet me when I come through the door. I get the vibe that they don't want me to shop in the store. I dare not ask a question if somthing is in stock because they will look at u nasty and shut u down. They follow u around. I don't feel comfortable when I'm there. They make u feel like your a theif and I have never stolen a thing in my life. I would rate this store a zero if I could. Very poor management at this store. I even asked for a double bag on a bag they over stuffed and they told me no they aren't allowed to do that. I am a paying customer and they would not give me change for a 20. The other stores in town are great. Awesome customer service skills at raab rd and hamilton rd.

The reason the store 1504 can not keep employee's is because the managers don't treat them with respect. An employee is there to work not to be talked about. If the corporate office would send someone to this store to work for one week they would quit because they would get tired of closing every night because the GM there does not close. There is another reason they would quit is the mice in the store. It's so bad when i worked there the key holders found them in bags of flour and 15 in one trash can. The locate health department was called in because the customers couldn't shop with out them crawling over stuff. When i worked there i did my job and most of every one else's job. I was told that i had to be available to work any shift and i was but i worked more nights then any other cashier. I believe the store 1504 would be a great place to work if they would fix the problems in the store like starting with the staff and the mice. I was denied my unemployment because the GM said she didnt know why i quit now you know why and i believe i deserve my unemployment

I'll break this down as much as possible. This is a complaint that, with proper management, could have been avoided. This concerns the Dollar General located on Charleston's East End (1555 Washington St., East, Charleston, WV 25311). The place is going to hell in a handbasket, which is all you can find there now. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- When the store opened, we were excited. We love stores like these for "little, quick stuff." And this store is right around the corner from our house. The thrill is gone. We only go there now if we don't need to buy much, as there are no carts to speak of. Only handbaskets. When the store opened, it had a whole line of carts lined up in theit own area. I think there are 2 or 3 now, and one of those can usually be found on the parking lot, which never seems to be tended to...trash, sweeping...those little things that attract customers...or not. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- It seems that every week, there's someone new working there. You can't tell me that they can't take the pace. What pace? There's never anyone in there! And, without fail, when we get to the checkout, they're moaning (to all within earshot) about having to go to lunch...or having to get to another job. To me, that's tantamount to suspension or worse. You stay until the rush is over and keep your damn trap shut. I'm there to shop, not listen to your incessant whining. Just get the hell out and I'll check myself out! Take care of business first. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stock is important. Nobody seems to know how to order anything. What's the point of being open? We were in some time ago and I'd taken a yen to Clover Valley Sweet and Spicy snack mix. Out of it. That was a month ago. We went back in Sunday. The same...out. In fact, NOTHING IN THAT AREA of the snack/chip aisle has been touched. That applies to items all over the store. Supply and demand IS NOT an issue here. Has nothing to do with that. WHAT DEMAND?...nobody's ever in there! Doesn't matter. This is simply a mis-management issue. And a lackadaisical attitude. Dangerous for any business. The first night they were out of snack mix, I asked about it. It was kind of hinted at that I go to the back and get some. "Ther're in the back somewhere" is what the clerk told me. While he was talking to one of his friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- That same night, there were 3 hand-trucks parked in the aisles. Two weeks later, one of them was in the same spot in the same aisle, untouched. Are you kidding me with this crap? All kinds of items in places they didn't belong. Clothes and rugs and socks on the aisle floors. This constitutes a safety hazard. Nobody goes around and puts things back where they belong. Were someone to get hurt in here, you might have some problems. A chairbound person may just as well stay home...no way to get around in the store. Fortunately, there are no buggies or carts to try to roll through the store! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's only one point of egress that I know of. Were there 2 exits, you wouldn't be able to get to it. Bottom line is: KEEP THE DAMN AISLES CLEAR! My partner is on City Council in this ward, and if this particular issue isn't resolved soon, we'll be contacting the safety board and the fire chief. Just so you know. My advice to you is to make a "shopper's visit"...don't say a word and simply show up as a shopper some day. Any day. Surprise them. I won't talk to the manager about any of this, since the only one I've seen is dumb as a box of rocks! Is that a job requirement for your employees at this store? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I will say that the cooler area (milk, frozen, cheese, etc) and pantry items (mayo, coffee, etc) are fairly ok and usually stocked. But the rest of the store simply sucks. We only go here now because it's convenient if we needed milk or something of the sort. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I hope this has given you a heads-up on what's going on. I was born at night but not last night. This is an internal problem and we shouldn't dread coming to your store. I'm making a copy of this, and will hand-deliver it to the local store. I hope you'll look into this. It would be prudent for you to do so...there's a lot of competition out there. Or, is that the problem? Do it right or not at all. Like Master Yoda said, "Do or do not. I am writing a complaint against the Durham, NC Store# 11505 since yesterday's fiasco with the Manager of this store. I purchased one box of eye drops and was charged for two. I took my receipt to the manager and told him what happened, he disappeared to his office for 10 minutes. He came out saying that I bought two boxes, which I know I didn't because there was only one box in my bag. He refused to listen and stated that I did buy two! I got nowhere with this rude man and he was shocked that he had no regard for my situation, what happened to customer service?? I am furious that he could have cared less that I was double charged $5.50 especially when I know what I bought. He said he saw the register scan two boxes and he didn't even check me out, he said there are cameras....he never showed me proof and I walked out stating I will never shop at this store again! You need to fire this manager, he will ruin the business....

We would love to have a Dollar General Store in Summitville, IN. 46070 the town needs something like this for our older people who have no car. We are about half way between Alexandria, Indiana and Fairmount, Indiana. Not everyone has a car to go to these two stores. I feel a Dollar General would do well in Summitville, Indiana and I wish they would look favorably. We have a bank post office excellent fire and police and no business going in general.

Giving my local store a rating of 1 is a compliment (wanted to give it a ZERO, but that wasn't an option). I am sad to see that the store in Gosnell, AR, isn't the only one that is filthy and mis-managed. I had hopes that other stores were better, but obviously not. I say that we boycott these stores! That will get corporates attention! The only nice employee at store #7276 is discriminated against (she's part hispanic and the wife of a preacher), and every time she tries to make the store look better/cleaner, it's never good enough for management. That store has never looked cleaner! And the manager? He's a joke because he's NEVER THERE!! Over half of the food products I try to purchase are out of date (in January I picked up a package that had expired in October!), and pretty much EVERYTHING I take to the register is priced higher than what the shelf tags show! If that nice cashier ever leaves, I'll NEVER go back to that store.

Just today I shopped at my local Dollar General in Morris IL. I stood in a line with others waiting to be checked out. There was 10 of us in line while the cashier was outside smoking a cigarette and it took 10 minutes for another cashier to come up. It is a shame because I really like that store. It is clean and honestly I rather shop in the evening when the other manager is on. She is very helpful and is always smiling and willing to help any one who needs it. I bought a Tracfone at Dollar General in Tulsa Oklahoma 15th and Sheridan (Feb. 23rd, 2012)...they only scanned the purchase barcode....when I got home to activate my Tracfone by internet and by phone...it said "it was inactive"..and I had to return to the store of purchase to activate it. There is a sticker on the bottom on the Tracfone package that says "Scan here to activate phone"....Dollar General apparently does not have the equipment or software installed to activate..because when I returned to activate my Tracfone...I was told a myriad of excuses..."you have to call to activate"...I did that..."You have to get on the internet to activate"....I did that...the Tracfone website and Tracfone operator told me both times..."the phone needed to be activated at the store of purchase". Then the manager said, "when we scan the activation barcode..it shows error"...blah..blah... "I have been a manager at Dollar General for over 20 years and this never happened!"...Bullshxt..Liar!! You're selling phones to people and cannot activate them! I was initially refused a refund.....but raised hell and got one. I was told "we cannot do exchanges or refunds on pre-paid phones once there open"....but how can I activate my phone if I cannot open the package??!?!?!?? But they clearly sold me a phone that they could not activate! It was useless if its not activated and they clearly didnt know how to do it or didnt care!! DO NOT BUY PRE-PAID PHONES OR PRE-PAID AIRTIME FROM DOLLAR GENERAL..YOU'LL GET SCREWED!!

I have been a residence in Bicknell, IN for six years now. Since the very firt day I have had issues with a woman in the store asking me all sorts of questions. I do not go to the dollar general store in bickell anymore and am forced to drive 18 more miles to the closest dollar general. I do not go to the store to be harrassed by the employees and i most certainly do not deserve a bad attitude just because I am in a store. I have no bad reputation and although this is a small store in a small town I have attempted many times to speak to a manager there and the woman insists I cannot because she has "job security". I am unsure of what that would mean for me as a customer. I do not want to cause anyone to lose their job in this horrible economy but I also dont want to be forced to drive an extra distance just because thi woman cannot keep her thoughts, attitude, and bad language to herself. There have been many complaints filed about this woman her name is theresa.

This all took place at the Dollar General store#4478 905 W 4th Street Milan, IL 61264 My son and I purchased a track phone card and when we received the reciept and was on our way to work we noticed that the reciept had a white line down the center of it so we were unable to read the pin number. We called the store to see if they could read the pin # to us and the manager said that she could not. We then asked her to credit this transaction and we would purchase another one so that we would have phone service. She told us that there was nothing that she could do for us and hung up on us. I tried to call the store right back and nobody would answer the phone. This went on for about and hour. 2 hours later I called and the manager answered the phone when I asked for her name she wanted to know why and I explained that I wanted to contact the corporate office to complain and again was hung up on. I will find out what her name is and will contact the corporate office and will have this very rude employee let go from her job!!!! How unprofessional!!!!

What a mess. The store in Dekalb, MS is a jumbled up mess. You can never get to the isles for all of the boxes. Christmas Eve would be an example of how not to make money. The busiest day of the holidays. You could not shop because you couldn't get to anything. NOTHING!!! Valentines Day. Couldn't get to anything. NOTHING!!! Any day of the week can't get to anything. NOTHING!!! Are you trying to go broke? If you are you are doing a great job. I can't figure out why you don't have an inventory room to keep the boxes in until you are ready to put them in stock. Why is every box of inventory blocking every aisle? I love to shop DG but I can't get to it. Guess I'll have to keep going to Fred's.

I am so pissed.. I went to the Dollar General Market in Franklin Ky. My son has Muscular Dystrophy and needs a wheelchair to walk long distances. When we got there the eletric one was broken, and the manual one cut my son on his leg. office girl was rude cashier was even worse. I had to help my son out of his chair get a cart unload groceries she never offered to help told me my total 3 times very hateful and then sighed loudly and proceeded to help but slung my groceries in my cart as hard as she could smashing my bread... get better help.. I will never be back again, this is not the first time I have complained it does not do any good anyway. My son is not using a wheelchair by choice, and it's hard enough taking a special needs child to the store.. I try not to but sometimes i have no choice! I expect some sort of something, a response something or I will not be back!!!!

Id like to start by saying other than the new manager at our local store in Ona,WV i totally love the staffing there. The girls all greet me with smiles and are always working. My problem exists solely on the new manager. Apparently she thinks she as the right to belittle her employees at will. Ive never seen a less compitent manager. Of the staff she has, she is by far the most hateful person i have ever encounterred, and i drive a truck for a living and thats saying something. She leaves to do lists and thats fine, however when theres only two people in the store working, its impossible t get everything done. but i will say the girls are always busy and doing work. GET A GRIP HOPE. YOU SUCK AS A MANAGER AND I WILL START A PETITION TO HAVE YOU REMOVED

There was a table in the center of the store with a sign in front of all the blankets that read 50% percent off with a detailed explanation of what the reduced price would be after the markdown. It ranged from 5 to 25 and so on, but I know it distinctly had one for 12 and one for 18 so I picked out a sherpa throw and a blanket for my daughter as well. When I got to the register the blankets did not ring up at a reduced price. I asked to speak to the manager, all she did was walk over and take the blanket off without explanation of why the blanket was not reduced; the lady behind me in line had also selected one that was 18 and a different style. I went to the table and picked out 3 more blankets in different styles at random. None of them rang up at the discounted price, meaning that at least five different styles did not ring up at a discount, The only explanation that was given was that...IT WAS ONLY SELECT ONES THAT WERE DISCOUNTED...

I recently visited the Dollar General in Bonham,Tx. I was a bit reluctant to go there, due to the absolute filth of the store in the past. I was in town for again for a visit, and was assured the new store manager had made improvements. I am very impressed with the stores new cleanliness. It is certainly obvious, from a customers perspective, that this new manager has changed the store for the better. The shelves now have product on them, and you can almost smell the better attitude in the store. Keep up the improvements, they are noticed by customers. And we do talk to each other, while visiting, everyone seems to enjoy the cleaner and better stocked store. Thank you. I would have rated a 5, but the floor, and ceiling still need more help.

My fiance' was a manager at a Dollar General.. She work sometimes 90 hrs a week. You know what they did for her the LIED and FIred her.. Why? to tell the truth I don't know how much you guys know about Dollar General but it used to be a strictly Racially seperated...She was the only Black Female Manager in her district an she failed to follow protocol...she didn't hire her RM's friend... who just happened to be her unknowledged DM's "wife's" girl"friend"... So they gave him a nice little job in a store sent over the RM"S girlfriend made her the Dm to fire her.. Never mind she was sick....just went through major surgery. Only to have to work still because there was noone to run her store.. Now get this people..She begins bleeding I mean major bleeding that lands her at home for a while. When she returns she greeeted by no other than Ms. Hot to Trot...she tells her she under investigation for NOT allowing ceertain unnamed employees thier breaks.. So what happens two weeks later on her day off she's called in an FIRED.. Of course she fights back through thier Alternative Dispute DepaRtment department, they agree to investigate them refuse to contact her.. after thier investigation..she got people who still work for the company that know better than that.. She thinks this company is making a change.. Not in South Carolina it's not.. The Company submits to the Unemployment Office she was fired for NOT making people take their breaks..oh let's remember how many times they had tried to accuse her stealing or messing with the goods just to find nothing to support that she was sick and the store was going through multiple changes.. they tossed her like trash.. even canceled her insurance the very day she was fired..that was all planned out. She was schedueld to have surgery in a few days.. Not only did they lie they covered up the truth and if she doesn't get compensated for what they put her through they have 21 pages of documentation.. If she doesn't ge a lawyer and sue the the pants off them.. I going to fight for her..EOC, NAACP, MEDIA, YOU TUBE, whatever it takes the Dollar Cooperation really needs to look into this.... but lets just watch and see what happens Now.. Some people are untouchable some aren't it just depends on where you live. If you get a fair chance at succes with this company.. Somebody trying to do right up top.. but there are still some still living in the times of racial slurs and opression.. and they use that to thier advantage.. The story is lot more tragic but you get the picture.. that's why thier are so many Poorly motivated people working for them.. It's not just about who you are is where you are and who over you is is truly looking out for everyone's best intrest.. They have some good guys, but she got a RAAW deal for sure.. stb4u73@yahoo.com

Is there ANYONE in charge of how things are ran? My husband is a Werner/Dollar General Dedicated driver & although he isn't supposed to even have to go into the store at all, only unload & load empty rolltainers he has to unload & CLEAN BACK ROOMS (in order to even be able to fit anything in) at at least 98% of the stores. Mind you he ends up doing it by himself. The employees/managers at the Dollar General stores ALWAYS tell him they weren't expecting him so soon (since they didn't check their computers like they were supposed to) or that they are there by themselves so he'll have to wait if he wants help (code for I don't want to unload & I plan on hiding in the bathroom for an hour till you're done) & they know the driver will unload b/c if they don't they'll be sitting there all day losing $. Its complete BULLCRAP! Isn't there anyone in charge of managing these stores & making the employees do their job? My husband is told all he can do is put it in the notes that about the store. Seriously? Jesus!
