Apparently no one wants to work in the heat and dirt of your Azle, TX store, and this bad attitude is daily transmitted to the customers. I’ve had to go the manager before about rudeness from an employee. I rarely shop there as a result. But I took a chance today because of your 4/28/12 coupon. And encountered the straw that broke the camel’s back. I spent exactly $25 pre-tax dollars as your coupon stated. It said it was not valid with other DG coupons, but no where does it state that you cannot bring this total down with manufacturer coupons. I had $10 in manufacturer coupons, plus your DG coupon. When I reached the cashier, the scanner would not read any of the coupons, so the slow, gum-smacking cashier went in search of someone who could enter them. After much discussion of weather the coupons were valid with the items I had purchased, she finally decided to enter them. Meanwhile, the line had become very long. Entering the coupons was a very slow process. In order to ring up my two buy one get one free shampoos, she rang up two more in order to take two off! I tried to explain that there were now six rung up, as I had brought exactly $25 worth of merchandise to the counter, and the pre-tax total had been $25.00. She wouldn’t listen, and simply said, “look at the receipt at the end. It’ll be correct.” The line is growing. Then she said my total for $25.00 worth of merchandise with $10.00 manufacturer coupons and $5.00 DG coupon was $21.00! When questioned, she said that she would not enter the DG coupon as my total was no longer $25.00 after the coupon. The internet is full of stories of DG stores that do honor the DG coupon in such situations. The coupon itself does not list this exclusion, and the cashier’s only response was, “I’ve been doing this a long time.” What? Ripping people off? Needless to say, after much gas, time and frustration, I will never spend one more cent of my hard earned money in this store. I will shout my story to my friends, co-workers, and church. And post the story on the internet. Perhaps bad publicity and work-of-mouth can convince your employees the value of the customer who wishes to spend money and contribute to their paycheck.
As a long time costomer of Dollar General I am very disappointed in how they are dealing with the air condition issue at store # 10501 in Georgetown Tennessee, 37336. The air has been out for almost two months and each time I go in to the store the outside doors are propped open to circulate what little air there is outside into the store. I have asked the employees and they say they hear a different story each time they ask about when it will be fixed. I rated this as 1 because of how the Corp. is dealing with this and the NO care attitude they have with fixing this problem. The employees are great and have always beed very helpful. I have called Dollar General Corp. and complained. "Sir we know about the problem and are working on it." Today is 4-28-12, and like I said it has already been two months. When the air is fixed I will write another review to see how long this takes.
I WENT IN THE DOLLAR GENERAL STORE IN CROZET VA. THAT HAS TO BE THE NASTY STORE IVE HAVE EVERY BEEN IN.THERE IS STUFF LAYING IN THE FLOOR. YOU CAN SEE WHAT IT IS ON THE SELVES BECAUSE THE STUFF THAT COMES IN ON THE TRUCKS IS SITTING IN FRONT OF IT. ITS SITTING IN BUGGES, IT IS PLANE NASTY. THE STUFF THERE SINCE THE NEW GIRL TOOK IT OVER IS RUDE. LAST WENT IN TO PICK A COUPLE THING AND TWO IN THE STORE BOTH BEHIND THE COUNTER ONE WAS EATING AND THE OTHER ON WAS ON HER CELL PHONE. WENT IN THERE TODAY THE SAME GIRL THAT WAS YESTERDAY WAS ON THE PHONE AGAIN TODAY. THE STUFF WAS JUST SITTING AROUND. ITS IS SO BAD THAT I DONT EVEN BOTHER GETTING A BUGIE CAUSE IT CANT GET UP AND DOWN THE ISLE. IF YOU COULD PLEASE CHECK IN ON THIS IT WOULD BE NICE. DONT TELL THEM YOU ARE COMING JUST KIND OF POP IN. I have walked in to the store many times and never have I been greeted for one. I have been left standing at the register for longer than 10 minutes more than once. I asked to speak to the manager after being avoided for some time at the register and was told the person checking me out was the manager Tara Harris and that she was working alone because everyone else had quit.The customer service at 8271 Dexter Rd Cordova TN. Is the worst customer service you will ever receive. They need to hire a new manager with customer service experience and training. She left me standing at the register while taking in inventory and talking on a private phone and even when I asked if there was anyone else in the store that could check me out, she still made me wait even longer.The store is dirty and often has boxes on the floor blocking isles.
the dollar general store in la center ky, bath room doors are broken you can not open,, to night 4-26-12 i ask the clerk why,you can not open the door, she said oh they have been that way for a year . I ask have you repored the problem , yes .but no one has FIX it yet!!! DOLLAR FAMILY IS BUILDING A NEW STORE IN LA CENTER.I BET THEIR DOORS WORK.. CHEERS GTW.
Store # 08902 Whatever happened to customer service? I am totally unhappy with the Powderly Dollar Store tonight. We had a cart full of stuff and was standing in a long line with one slow cashier. This guy came back into the store with a bag (looked like bottles of cola) and stood next to the line; he said "I want to return these"! This other worker (Jenna Stepp) came up and announced "I'll get someone over here". 2 other people with only a few items got in that line and I got in behind them thinking I could get out faster. She checked the first 2 out; With me standing next in line, she then told the guy who had the returns "I'll help you over here" and took him ahead of us. We left our cart full of stuff sitting there and walked out. We have been buying there since the store opened and actually go there a lot - sometimes spend a lot and sometimes very little but it's several times a week. Who owns this franchise so I can contact him/her?
I was just at the General Dollar here in Crescent City, FL. That has to be one of the dirtiest stores around. At Christmas time I told the clerk about all the cob webs on the light fixture and ceiling - it looked more like halloween - the clerk's comit to me was "the doors don't fit tight and all the bugs come in during the night". Today it is three times worse - I asked the clerk if the district supervisor ever comes to the store and he said "some times" I told him to point out the ceiling as the cob webs are getting bigger - they look like wads of cotton on there and not one person seem to care. I will drive further away to go to all the new stores you are opening around here rather than go to that dirty one on the main street here in town!! What a discrace to both General Dollar and our City!!!
My son and his girlfriend went to Dollar General #7034 to find some ear drops for pain relief. They threw the box away and when they looked at the bottle, there were no instructions. I called the store when they called me to see how to use them and spoke with Yolanda. This lady was VERY helpful, never acting as if she didn't want to help and found what I needed. She was gracious and I know at this hour, she had to be busy. I want you to know she is an asset to your company.
I have read several of these reviews and thought the best solution would be to blog it or facebook it or some other means since it's highly unlikely corporate looks here. I would have to guess they probably feel if you're stupid enough to shop there then of course we'll take your money. What isn't known is that some of the people are put on the registers within 5 minutes of starting the job with no training and no supervision. I also know of situations were they haven't gotten employee handbooks. They do not know the corporate policies and in most cases their supposedly supervisors each have their own rules of what do to and they are told just follow whoever is on. Why do I write this? I was in a store when a nice cashier welcomed me and said he would be right back he had to make a quick pitstop after working 9 hours. I saw him walking back maybe 2 minutes later when coworker screamed at him, where have you been? He blushed. I was the only one in the store. When I asked about filing a complaint she laughed at me and said you can file one with corporate but they won't do anything, they love us. Makes me understand the turnover. Purchased many items in local store Las Vegas Store at 8610 Spring Mountain Road on 4.16.12 and tried to return 3 UNOPENED CD's (purchased 6 total) and the assistant manager, Jeff, would not take one of the CD's back. He claimed that the item was opened and refused to take it. I told him that it was in the condition that I purchased it and he got nasty and so did I. I told him if I was going to return an open CD I would have returned them all because they were awful. You couldn't hear half of them, sound was terrible. He took two of them back but not the third. I see by the policy that it would have been returned and he refused. He also would not give me his full name when I asked. The cashier was all about being right. Refused to return my original receipt telling me that it was no longer mine and the store was going to keep it. The receipt was for many items not just these third rate CD's, so around and around we went on this. ALL ABOUT BEING RIGHT. They have just lost a customer to another store. I have been spending quite a lot there and if this store has so much revenue that it can afford to loose a twice weekly customer then I guess old Jeff was right. Unhappy customers will spend their money elsewhere. I hope they are happy!
The DG near my home (Goodlettsville, TN)is great. Everyone is nice. They always say hello when you walk in the door. The store is clean and easy to get around. Many folks work at my local store. Probably because most of the employees work other jobs while working at DG part-time being CEO's, etc from most employers want all the money and throw cookie crumbs at the rest of us who have to work 2 and 3 jobs to get by while the CEO's work one job with many paid holidays, benefits and trips. Unfortunately, much of the merchandise is junk made in China. Whose bright idea was it anyway to give all our manufacturing away to China, Taiwan, Korea, Mexico, etc? Our greedy corporations jumped on it without giving their home country a chance at the jobs. Yes, DG's stuff is cheap and not worth paying for and sometimes more expensive than KMart I have found. Then the stuff ends up in landfills polluting more of our Earth because no one wants cheap ugly junk from China. Quality is pretty much poor when it comes to knick knacks. The DG is convenient for TP, spray paint, and other stuff needed quickly. I like the neighborhood store, cheap China junk or not, I end up buying it because you can't hardly buy anything made in the USA anymore.
I have found out that the dog food from China will injure your dogs kidneys and cause them to possibly die....why would anyone sell this product... It is sold under the Wagon Train label. I love my dog as others do and will inform anyone that will listen not to purchase anything made in china from your store.
Just left Dollor General very upset with employees that work there. I live in a small town in Eloy Az.. I bought some signs that scaned .20 cents the other day. The girl at the register said they must be discontinued. Went back today they had 4 left so i got them they scaned at .01 cent. Brain the cashier said i can not sell them to you. I asked for the Manager he said there is no manager,i asked for corporats # he said i would have to wait.I called the store in arizona city ,az told the manager thier what happened she said items that scan like that, they have to throw them away or donate them. I feel they need new employees that want to work and not spend so much time taking smoke breaks, and do their job. Those items should have been pulled down. And if they were on the shelf Brain should have sold them to me. Im sure he bought them for himself!!!!
I was just in the Eaton, Oh DG when i made a purchase for $5 & change, gave the cahsier a $20 bill and recieved $4 back in change. When I noticed in the car I went back in & spoke with the cashier. The manger LISA never apologized, accused me of lying, saying they had cameras. I advised her that I wanted to view the tapes then & she would see the cashier shotred me $10. I requested that they at least count the drawer for my missing $10. She said I had to call back after closing and if she was STILL THERE then they may be alble to return it but i can't prove it. WTF!! I have never had such RUDE customer service in my life. She never apologized, That's CUSTOMER SERVICE 101 always apologize to the customer for an error or percived error!! This lady was just worried about being right. I am calling corportate Monday for the way I was treated, the fact is I work for a retail customer based higher end HOme office where customer service reigns. I make that $10 in less than 30 minutes at work, it's not the $10 its the basic premised that she felt I should go out of my way to make sure she doe her job. FYI the coorect response to this LISA is apologize for any inconvience that the situation has caused, actually listen to the customer with out alienating them with accusations even if you think they are wrong. Offer to CALL THE CUSTOMER after you count the drawer. Offer some type of appeasement, ie small gc or etc. Or to do away with the whole issue you could have offered my $10 back on a gift card and that would have resolved the issue and guaranteed repeat business!! You are a poor manager & DG should be ashamed to have hired a manager that don't know about customer service. Take a classs at sinclair.
I have just moved to the small town of Holden Mo, I have been into the Dollar General Store a coulpe of times. Every time I have went in to the store the turn over of employees is unreal. You never see the same person at the register.And when you ask for help they look at you like cant you see I have other things to do.After asking around town,found that the manager has been there year or a little more. And fired a hard working team that had been there befor she was hired.And since that time has hired and fired 15 plus people. Does this not raise a RED FLAG to DOLLAR GENERAL that something is wrong??????????? When a manager can not keep a crew!!!!!! Tells me you have a big PROBLEM IN YOUR MANAGEMENT in that store.......
my good friend shared a story with me and i cried. she ran into DG for laundry and a few items not more than 10 minutes. she left the store and noticed a man (soloamn remerio) taking her tag number. at home for a few minutes a police man came to the door explaining she was accused of shop lifting at dg. she became very upset and told the police i have never stole anything in my life. she was hand cuffed and taken to the police station. after questioning she was released and told. there would be an investigation. the friend is in her sixties, mother , randmother and great grandmother. she was and still is tramaitized by this experience.I have since talked to the DG manager (soliamn remero)store location cocoa fl dixon blvd. i will never shop in this store again and i plan on telling anyone who will listen, this horrow story. FIRE THIS MGR.
I shop all the time at Dollar General store in Magnolia, Ky. And I am a regular customer. My concern is about the manager she is always fussing at her employees on the floor and talking real rude to them like they have no since. Those girls work real hard and they are very nice and friendly to all of their customers. I know one customer had to bring something to the managers attention about her getting real hard on her employee on the floor us customers don't want to hear that. Someone needs to do something about the manager doing that. I think they need a new manager there. We all are so greatful and proud we have the Dollar General there. But we all are sick of her fussing and complaining to the girls aboout there jobs the way I see if it was not for her team doing what they suppose to do then she wouldn't have the business like she does. I hope and pray someone does something about this. something needs to be done. What kind of manager is she that also talks bad about her employees to other people like I can't stand her and I hate her and can't wait until she leaves my store me and to other customers heard the manager say this about one of her employee. Thats not a good manager at all in my book. We would have a great store if the manager was better. ThanksI hope something gets done. It sure don't do any good to go the District Manager he won't do anything. Thanks.
I got to ask some of you people, what the heck is wrong with you? You make accusations that affect these peoples lives, based upon what you describe, is less than 10 to 15 seconds worth of interaction. You don't take into concideration that the store managers are working over 60 hours a week and ARE NOT GETTING PAID ANY OVERTIME OR OTHER COMPANSATION FOR IT, the employees are just working there because they CAN NOT FIND ANY OTHER JOB, MUCH LESS ONE THAT ACTUALY PAYS THEIR BILLS and all this without any real benifits to speak of, just so YOU can save a dime on products NOT MADE HERE IN THE USA, because you are to damned cheap to go pay a little more for something from a localy owned retailer. NOW, I ask you, go back and look at what you've posted about these people, and ask yourself after reading your comment, "was that Christian of me?" Before you go judging others, look in the mirror.
yes i work at the store 11258 in fayetteville,tn and this store people are fussed at for trying to make the store a better place and truning in the one 's that break the rules like the reports of sexal comints and that the astt manger has told this about the manger and a cashier and now the ones who speak up to tell any thing get told the will be wrote up for talking about her well i ahte to tell you the whole store is drama and will or some one needs to go to this store from higher than tim to fix this stuff cause nothing is being done to this ast manger for her bull and she yells law stuit every time you all say any thing to her well you will never keep people there as long as she is able to over run the new ones and i would like to know who owns the company i want the email to him or her
I have shopped at several Dollar General Stores never a problem but till today at Belden MS the so called manager on duty Cindy is the one that needs an attitude adjustment.I happen to be the customer paying for merchandise not who she was having a conversation with.She told me the other lady would check me out but she wasn't there to check anyone out.Quite honestly this person should be just plain out fired because she totally ignored that no one was there right behind her and whoever she was talking to had no merchandise checking out.I have been in a business for many years and if I had talked to a customer as she talked to me I would not be in the position I am in.I am vary upset with this situation I know I will never shop at this partitcular location ever I am apprehensive now about any of them in the immediate location.I will contact the mabager on Monday who is Dawn to report this situation.
