I was at the dollar general bout an hour ago finally got to check out got out door by the time I hit the corner outside of the store, I was accused in front of other leaving customers of stealing, she said she was giving me one chance to hand over something didn't even catch the name of whatever the item was suppose to be, I've gotta tell you with all the crap I gotta deal with I don't need this it was in her words because of people like me and ones with big purses she had the wrong one today let me tell you I left and returned right back from within less than a block from the store, basically demanding a why to the reason she had to display something so humilating, rude and just the fact of having no real evidence to have had done this, I asked for the manager and to no shock she was! what a day she lost my buisness!!! So ladies with big purses you might wanna carry a clutch next time if your planning to go to the dg in Corinth ms downtown! On foote st
I am a 19 year old female & I currently have 8 months working at a Dollar General in South Texas. When I got hired, it was mostly to work morning shifts because some other cashiers had school & what not. I was fine with that. For quite some time I was working in the mornings as the cashier with my opening manager. Then out of no where, the girl that got hired a week before me, starts taking over my shifts. At first I thought she was cool & not someone I would have a problem with. But after months of this, I'm tired of her. She was going to be promoted to a key associate because she's friendly & whatever. She was training, but when it came time for the drug test, she didn't want to take it. I got upset. I was wondering why I hadn't been asked for that position. Apparently she was more available than I was. Bull. She just didn't want to close because she had no one to take care of her kids. For a long while she would call in or just not show up. I seriously thought my manager was nuts for keeping her. Now she comes to work all the time, yes, but WTF?! She almost always opens & I end up having to come in at 11 to take over so she can be on the floor. Am I not good enough to be on the floor? What, she can be super close to the 4th key & assistant manager and get her way all the time, without getting in trouble with the manager, but when it comes to me working with the 3rd key, we get in trouble? ugh! I hate this job!! Plus, she gets 29-33 hours a week, while I'm the one stuck with the same hours as the stockers. Just because I don't have kids doesn't mean I don't have things I need to take care of! I have car & school payments I need to start making next month & my checks aren't enough to cover it. My mom tells me to talk to my manager or else she will. But I'm scared. Last time one of my co-workers did, he cut her hours BAD. I'm actually going to start looking for another job. I didn't bust my *** in high school to be stuck at the bottom.
The Dollar General in Plymouth, NC is a very nice store, however, the store manager is the rudest person I have ever met. I am a very short person, and she made snippy comments when I asked her to hand me something off the top shelf. I wouldn't have bothered her, but she happened to be walking by. I know she has been moved around from different stores. I can certainly understand why. She has driven many customers away with her attitude, including myself. I won't be going back there.
I would like to know just exactly what the store managers are required to do. Everytime I go into store #9426 in Glenville Wv. the store manager is either cussing a employee or talking to a customer and using fowl language. I was there the other day with my daughter and was waiting in the van with the kids, and the store manager (kim) was outside smoking at least 3 times and standing right as you go in the store and smoke was blowing back into my vechile. I mean if she had to clock out everytime she walked outside to smoke she would never be on the clock. I really wish someone would take a look at this manager and fix the problems, she allows others who are not employeed help her stock shelfs and recover for free, she is rude and has a no care attitude. Someone help this store by getting rid of her... We dont have much to choose from here as far as shopping goes unless we go out of town and I dont really want to travel nor can I afford to travel 30-40 miles to shop but if things dont change I will.
I have been a Dollar General cashier for almost two years. I am not surprised at the numerous complaints. Some of the previous complaints sound like the store I work in. I would like to extend my apologies to you all for the rudeness and lack of customer service. I am a firm believer in customer service regardless of the pay I receive. Here are a few answers to some of the complaints I've read. When wanting to make a complaint, you should be able to contact someone at the number provided on your receipt. Whenever making a purchase, be sure to hold on to your receipt. You may exchange your product or request a full refund with a receipt. Without the receipt you may only exchange the item or receive store credit. When using the store coupon for $5 dollars off $25 or move with other coupons, be sure the cashier enters the $5 coupon first to insure that your balance doesn't drop below $25 dollars when entering manufacturer's coupons. Hopefully, you all will have a better shopping experience next time around.
CONNIE- I work at Dollar General.... we do NOT keep customor old reciepts after a return we are supposed to give back the OLD and NEW reciept for a return or exchange. so YES they lied to you! and Dollar General is a DIRTY corp. they make managers work off the clock. dont let them win! please! TEE- I work at Dollar General the policy is even online, if our computer does not accept or read the coupon we are not allowed to accept them. Now.... whos fault is it when Dollar General has cheap equip, the coupon is 100 percent correct but it will say the coupon does not match. and thats all there is too it, but me im like F dollar general im helping the people in my community, there is a manual coupon button to enter it in manually if it is the correct coupon. always keep that in mind, all of our computers have a button where a coupon can be applied manually!!! Sue Carr- I work for dollar general we have a laundry mat next door also and it NEVER has quarters, and we are surrounded by apt buildings with laundry mats, so people are ALWAYS asking for quarters and we are the only store in the community, I get cussed out everytime im on the register because i cant fade giving out change if i dare give out a roll of quarters my manaager will see that when he watches the camera like his home tv and will write me up for giving out change, its also a "high risk" of gettin robbed to open up your drawer without making a purchase. and when every person in the community needs quarters ... what would you expect? if we give them to everyone who asks nicely we then have to make all the other nice customers get back all nickle and dimes ... then when we run out of that we have to close the store cause the bank is closed...... its a two sided story thing here. Cara B- If she is the manager all she has to do is open her drawer and open the next registers drawer and slip it in there and bammmm thats it. wow. yea that is pretty rude. Customer Service 101- yeah we have a lot of drug addicts and such in my community so they pull moves like that all the time, but I also have a few coworkers who suck at counting i guess so people always come back complaining they didnt get their money back, but no matter how busy, i alwways pull the casheirs drawer or look at the records for earlier cashiers in the day, and i count the drawer and see if the money is there or not, i count it right in front of the customer and sometimes since i dont have access to the camera, I will tell them to come back in the day time and my gm will watch the camera. too me it sounds like they were trying to pocket your money. I have been trying to call the corporate office for 6 work days now and can not get anyone to answer the phones in goodlettsville tennessee. this is a very shady company.I also have a sister who works for them and she gets emails daily over her payroll hours and she is told to take 30 minutes at least out of everyones time everyday for lunch rather they get a lunch or not.Some of her people cant even get a lunch becouse there is not anyone to work the store.her DM tell her they kills aleast 30 minutes a day wasting time in bathroom or on the 15 minute break that they dont always get,or they just kill time not working.So before she releases her payroll she has to make sure everyone has a 30 lunch rather they get lunch or not. there is other things she tells me that just blows my mind.I ask her how do they get away with breaking the laws of tennessee and she said all she can think of is they need the job so bad they are all scared to say anything and dont know who to trust to talk to becouse her DM and reganiol Manager is the ones forcing the hand her and if she dont do as she is told they will take her from her store and put hen in a very bad store and force her to leave the company.I have witnessed alot of this first hand,so I know she is tell the truth.Dollar General you are not above the laws and if I can ever get someone to answer the phone to there HR OFFICE I am going to let them know you have laws to follow and why do you force your manager to break the labor laws or got fired.I will also talk with Laywers as well .I can go on all day about labor laws that are being broke but I think everyone understands now Dallor General is not a to be trusted.They also have her and all other managers work in the stores ALONE for the first 2 or 3 hours BECOUSE THEY TAKE THERE PAYROLLS HOURS AWAY AND SHE IS LEFT WORKING OPEN TO CLOSE WITH NO HELP.They tell you in your handbook NOONE IS TO EVER BE IN THE STORE ALONE. Again why do you have laws and rule if you dont follow they yourself.They tell her all the time you are the leader here and you must lead you team in order to have a great working team and store,but who is the leaders for the managers when they are forced to break the laws.SHAME ON DOLLAR GENERAL.I WILL NEVER SPEND A PENNY WITH YOUR COMPANY AGAIN.
My Daughter worked at the Dollar General Store In Lakehurst Nj.They do not in any way shape or form value their employees.They do not care about what happens to their employees,she had items thrown at her during her shift and management refused to call the PD.They tolerate shop lifting,many times she observed shop lifters in her store and management refused to call the Police.They are a pitiful company to work for.BEWARE IF YOU WORK FOR THIS STORE ,MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE,Corporate needs to clean house.Good management brings good customers not thieves. Just bought four items at dollar general store in winona mo. Three of the four items were higher at the checkout than priced on the shelf. I couldnt speak about all their stores but it is a common practice in this one to have a come on price at the shelf then go through checkout and get a totally higher price. We need a sixty minutes investigation. Stealing from the customer is no different than a shoplifter stealing merchandise.
My wife and I try to shop at your Rosepine Louisiana store as much as possible to spend our tax dollars at home but everytime that we shop there we cannot get down the aisles because there is unstocked items and carts piled up in them. This concerns me because if a handicapped person comes in they cannot shop because of the clutter in the floors. I as a shopper and consumer would like to be able to shop in my home town as much as possible and know that handicap shoppers have a fair chance to do the same. I hope to see some changes made in the cleaning of the clutter from the aisles Dorman Keel
I am writing about the store in Indiana 4634, Which is a great store with great employees , I mean the regular employees. Not the ones that come over to help Courtney, Mike, Lyzz they are rude and do not do a thing in that store, they are always in the office on their cell phone laughing and always out side on their cell phones.!!! and ALWAYS constantly talking crap about the manager Penny and her staff Mary, Mike ,Nashell,Marilyn, Scott, which are great employees and the thing that I know for a fact that the DM Heath has been told and Heath allows it to happen over and over , Heath the DM is no help to Penny or her staff because Heath can't even do his job and I have been in the store when the DM Heath is there and the way he talks to Penny is so unproffessional and inappropriate!!! Penny and her crew should sue the hell out of Dollar General for allowing all of this to happen to them . We the Customers will back up Penny and her crew in a heart beat.
I went to Family Dollar on Britt Road, Norcross store to buy an umbrella and a box of cereal. I was waiting in line along with 4 others when a 2nd cashier decided to open up. Being the last in line, I was able to go to the 2nd cashier (black) and being first in line. I put my stuff and was going to pay until a black guy behind me came and put his stuff on the counter and this black cashier and she smiled and started to punch his items. When I objected, she said he was first and laughed at me. I said, I dont have to shop here and can leave, she said OK. She didnt care and had terrible attitude. The 1st white cashier intervened and said she will take me and processed me. What a diff in attitude between these two cashiers. The owner ought to fire the black cashier for being disciminatory with me and having a total lack of customer service attitude. I have many dollar stores or other merchants to choose from and deserve a smiled service than a rough attitude from these young ill-behaving cashiers.
On 4/28/2012 at 4:32pm we went into the Dollar General Store located at 1325 S Belt Hwy St. Joseph Mo. We purchased approx 38.00 worth of items. We had a 5.00 off coupon, if spending 25.00 or more, that we had cut from the bottom of a previous cash register receipt. We also had 2 dawn dishwashing liquid coupons, and 2 cascade dishwasher detergent coupons that we had cut from our local Sunday newspaper. We handed the coupons to the clerk ringing our purchase. She attempted to scan them and shoved them back at me saying "these won't scan, so I can't take them". I asked what? She said, "can't take them". I then asked why. She said, "it's our policy". I told her they came from the Sunday paper, they were not expired, and they were for the exact items I purchased, so I was confused. The cashier got aggravated with me. I said that if I can't use the coupons, then I don't want the items I purchased to use them. She made loud exaggerated huffing noises, jerked the sack from my husband's hand, took off the items as she continued to mouth me under her breath. There were several customers standing there by now in line. She slammed my purchase into the bag, still griping about the coupons and my wanting the items taken off. I then asked about the 5.00 off coupon, she said that she took it off, although it wasn't showing on the screen. She said it will "be on the bottom of my reciept, but I don't get the discount for the cascade and dawn since she took it off". I said that the coupon said 5.00 off if spending 25.00 or more and since I spent over 30.00 even with those items off, I should still get the 5.00 off. The cashier then told the customers in the line that she couldn't ring them up because of me! One of the men in the line said, did you lock up your register, and she replied no, it is her fault, and nodded to me, then added "she is throwing a fit about her coupons" she then looked at me and said the managers back there if you want to talk to her. I told her to have her come up front. By now I was very angry. The cashier continued to talk about me as if I wasn't standing there to the customers in the line. She acted like I had done something wrong. The manager "Doris" came up and apologized. She pointed out the coupons were from the Sunday paper. The cashier got rude with the manager. She said that was what she was told to do. The manager refunded our money, then re-rang the purchase taking the coupons off, apologizing as she went. We were horrified to hear that other cashier speak to a double amputee, handicapped man in an electric wheel chair like a dog while we waited for our purchase to be re-rang. She kept saying, "what?!" very rudely as he tried to speak to her with some difficulty. She snapped at him, she also told another customer who asked where the ziplock bags were, to "go down that wall and look for them" as she pointed in the general direction. She treated us all very badly. She then attempted to apologize when I started writing down the date and time etc by saying "I'm sorry if you got angry". I told her that was not an apology for treating a customer so badly and not to talk to us. She refused to give us her name and had no name badge on, she did have shoulder length reddish brown hair. I have never been treated like this before and she had no right to carry on a rude conversation about us, as we stood there waiting for the manager. I just wanted to leave I was so humiliated. If your policy is not to take coupons, then that should be posted on the door, your website shows your coupon policy and I adhered to that in it's entirety. It is not my fault that casheri's don't want to take coupons. I use them frequently and I adhere to coupon rules strictly. There was no excuse for the rudeness we had to endure that afternoon. I do want to say that once Doris came up, she took over and treated us with respect and a caring attitude. The other cashier is not suited to that type of work at all as illustrated in how she treated everyone there that day.
I went to Dollar General today to make a small purchase. The credit card machine was not working. There were approx 3-4 people in line. The salesperson stated cash or check only and the machine had been taken out for repair. I asked the salesperson, why not move to the other register where there was a credit card machine, and she stated that her drawer was already set-up. I next asked why not get the manager to move her drawer so the customers were not inconvenienced and they did not lose customers. She perceded to tell me that she was the manager and the customers would come back. Some may, but for me, it's a NO. I will never shop at another DG or any store assoicated with DG again. I personally work in the CUSTOMER SERVICE FIELD and the manager that was on duty definitely should not be working for you. This was the store located at 1940 William Penn Ave, Johnstown PA.
I shop at the dollar general store in summerdale, al at least 3xs a week.. I send on average about 200.00 in that weeks time. There is a laundry mat next door that I use as well. This morning before I visited the laundry mat I shopped there for detergent. The laundry mats change machine was broken, I had already placed my clothes and detergent in the machines, do I run next door to buy some quarters. I asked to buy a roll of quarters, the manager says.. I haven't went to the bank... In return I beg them please, tell them my mishap... I ask for something, anything... The cashier offers me 2.00... BUT I have to make another purchase for her to open the drawer... There are 2 other dollar general stores within about 5 miles from this location THANK GOD! I will still shop at dollar general, as I have for many years. But I know running a store is not just about merchandise, its about customer service and the community. There are usually two other younger ladies that work here and one works in the laundry sometimes.. these two girls are great and I don't want this to reflect on them. But I had to be heard, letting off steam here rather than letting it happen in the store. I wish I could take everything back to that store and repurchase in robertsdale or marlow locations of Alabama...
The Dollar General Store in Prescott Arkansas needs to fire the manager.Everytime I go in the store she harasses me in front of the workers and customers.I do not know why I do not know her and she does not know me.She is always saying are you alright,are you O.K.,are you sick, are you feeling O.K., I reply yes I am fine.She then says are you sure I am not going to have to call the police on you am I.The manager of the store is telling the workers to keep an eye on me everytime I go in the store .The manager thinks she owns the store because she has been there for so long.She thinks she can run all over the customers and say anything she wants and get away with it.I have never done anything to deserve this kind of treatment.I have never been anything but nice to everyone in the store.Would you please fire this manager? The store would be alot better place to shop. There are only 3 stores in Prescott to shop.Most of the people in the town are going out of town to shop because of this crazy lady.
MY FATHER WENT TO DG NEAR OUR HOME (BARTLETT, TX) AND ASKED FOR A $20 TRACFONE CARD AND THE CASHIER HANDED HIM A DOUBLE THE MINUTES WHICH WAS $24.99 AND IS NOT EVEN AN AIRTIME CARD ITS JUST TO DOUBLE THE MINUTES NEXT TIME YOU BUY MORE MINUTES! I THINK DG SHOULD HIRE SMART PEOPLE NOT PEOPLE THAT DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY'RE DOING!! WHEN WE WENT BACK TO COMPLAIN HE SAID THAT CARD WASNT TO ADD MINUTES IT WAS JUST TO DOUBLE YOUR MINUTES!!
They charge 4 dollars for a 1 lbs of hamburger meat yet dont keep in mind that once cooked it shrinks so you are paying for more or less a half a lb of meat. Which i can go to krogers or food city or walmart even and get a 5 lb chunk roll for the same price. Being a disabled single mother is hard and yet for being a dollar store they charge out the a$$ for their products. So no they arent all they are cracked up to be.
Thee worst nightmare at the store in Wichita Ks. on Douglas Street/ Seneca. Manager there is named Dawn, and another so called Supr. Tara. Today, Sun. April 29th, a new employee needed help with the register and someone in charge named Tara told the clerk in front of all the customers that she would write him up since he knew how to do a check and she didnt have time to help him. the manager Dawn,, ( leave a lot to be desired to call her a mgr.) has not trained the new employee as she told him they dont pay to hold new employees hands. Women get more hours than the men, and they refuse to give this particular new employee a break until they can find time. He is diabetic and he made them aware of this when he started. What kind of district Manager runs this place? Why are the employees not allowed to call the DM off the clock? Sounds like a lot of harassment going on here. Customers in line today were NOT happy and gave the new employee their phone numbers as they want to complain to someone with half a brain. Do NOT shop in this hole. Harassment, discrimination, I wont shop in any Dollar General now.
I was at store #12146 at 5747 bells ferry rd ,acworth ga 30102 today and was so dissapointed at the customer service of this location.I had a coupon for $5 that I forgot to give the cashier Kim when she cashed me out and I asked her if there was a way she could adjust the coupon in that I only has $28 worth of stuff .You would have to spend $25 to get the coupon she said to me "no maam its a done deal when you check out'' so not to hold up the line I went back at the end of the line so I could ask for a manager.As I was in line I watched her adjust a coupon like mine to a customer.I couldnt understand why she couldnt do the same for me????I felt unwelcome ,discriminated and most of all you have for sure lost a customer.I am a teacher and I spend more money at this store than others.The manager came up called Shanon and she had an awful attitude .I know it was past 8pm on a saturday but I still needed to be treated the same as other customers with respect .I was so very dissapointed but will be taking my business elsewhere where I feel welcome.
